CHAPTER 6Willow piloted me up the stairs using the chain to steer. At the top, we arrived in the second loft I’d been in this week, yet this loft was much more traditional than the one at the clothing store. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the four post rustic bed. It looked as if it had been handmade because the 4x4 posts had been scarred to artificially look aged. The headboard and footboards were made of horizontal slats with similar texture. It was dressed in stark white sheets, covered with a white down comforter, and had been turned down ready for occupancy. Despite its large features, it was low to the floor. A fleeting thought crossed my mind, it was the perfect height for Willow to bend me over and take me from behind.
I soaked in the comfort of the room as Willow and I made our way across to the French doors leading onto a balcony. Candles alone lit this room, but I could see there were unused lamps on the two nightstands that flanked the bed. Warm earth tones were mixed with white in the furnishings of this bedroom, a crow’s nest some may even call it. The walls were made of varnished logs, they weren’t dark though. They were light brown and the lacquer made them glossy. As we passed the dresser on my right, I caught a glimpse of myself dressed in this low cut black evening gown in the mirror being tugged along by chains that were bound to my neck and wrists. It was disturbing yet strangely sexy.
Pictures of lighthouses hung on either side of the doorway leading outside. I could see a small table set for two on the balcony. It was illuminated by two tapered candles in sterling silver candelabras. When we emerged I saw the food had already been prepared and served, a plate sat on one side only. Willow guided me to that side and removed the chains but left the cuffs on my wrists and the collar around my neck. Shame riddled me briefly when I thought of her not trusting me. After taking her seat across from me, she took the bottle of wine from the ice pail and poured my glass full of Burgandy.
“Eat kitten, you’ll need the energy later,” her brow was cocked.
The cuff on my wrist clanged against my silverware when I picked up my fork. I kept my eyes down and started eating immediately. I didn’t realize how famished I was until I had scarfed down half the plate of spaghetti.
“Mind if I?” She held her glass up towards me. I could tell then that it wasn’t wine. It was blood. It swished around heavier than the wine in my glass. I just shook my head side to side.
She tipped the glass and gulped. I watched her long enough to see her vampire face come out, then I returned to eating my food, I couldn’t watch. Why did she even ask? She can do whatever she wants to do, but yet she still asks for my approval. Why?! It was beginning to perturb me. So, I spilled.
“Why did you ask? You know you have control and you can do whatever you want?” I sneered.
Her yellow eyes found mine. Her face began to return to normal, her bumpy head smoothed and her teeth retracted. “I respect you pet. I want you to respect me,” she licked her lips and sat her glass down.
“What does this have to do with respect?” I snapped back.
“Kitten I have shown you respect, however with that display downstairs and now this foray of questions,” the anger in her voice gained. She paused and changed tone, “I understand though that you need to test me to see how far you can go without repercussion.”
I simmered, eating the rest of my food without any words with her. I had pushed her yet she refrained. She watched me closely as always. I sat my fork down and drank the rest of the wine in my glass.
Her hand stretched across the table and caught mine, “You loved her, I know, she loved you, I can feel it.”
This time I was more ‘respectful,’ “You feel? Why are you telling me this?” I eyed the two scars on her neck.
“Of course I feel kitten. I feel hungry, I feel sleepy, I feel horny,” her gripped released.
“I don’t understand.” I pulled my hands to my lap.
“It’s complicated. I’ve thought it over myself. All I can say is that I feel what she felt, and for some reason keeping you near me is what feels right.” She nodded over the rail towards the lake, “sucking the life from that couple on the beach there, and fucking you until you scream my name over and over, also feels right.” Her eyes were back on me, drilling.
I snapped my legs shut at the thought of that. My core seized. ‘What she felt,’ what *my* Willow felt. Does that mean she feels the love for me that Willow felt? I dropped my eyes to my lap, I was wringing my hands. I was so confused.
She rose and reached her hand out for mine, “no more talk kitten, let’s go for a walk.”

Spike rushed in behind Buffy as the door fell in, “nothing.”
“I’ll check upstairs, you check up front,” she directed the blonde vamp.
Buffy rushed up the stairs into the loft and scanned the room, nothing. She climbed back down and met Spike near the cage Xander had described to her yesterday. The clothing store was empty.
“They’re not here; those vamps were back here for something they’d left.” Spike presumed. He followed Buffy out the back door. She shook her head at Xander and both men fell in behind her as they made there way back to the car.
As all three slid into the back seat, “Home James,” Spike mocked. Giles looked in the review mirror to shoot him a nasty glace but found only Buffy and Xander. He drove the car around front to pick up Anya then on to the Magic Box. The gang rode in silence. They filed into the store each absorbed with their own disappointment.
“You say they were taking the bodies with them? They put them in the car?” Giles probed.
“Yeppers, like sacks of potatoes.” Xander said as he sat down next to Anya massaging her shoulders for a moment before resting back.
The petite blond sat down also, “Giles the place was empty, they must have moved out quick.”
The older man paced along the counter at the Magic Box, “Yes, yes, well, you’ll need to step up patrol Buffy. I think that we’ll see those vamps again around town. I’ll go back to the clothing store tomorrow to see if there are any clues to where they went and what Willow may be planning.”
“Looks to me like she’s increasing her body count chap; she could be gathering more fledglings to do her dirty work.” Spike offered. Giles raised a brow and nodded to the side in agreement.
The slayer questioned, “Have we turned up anything on the witchcraft spin on all this?”
“I’ve called the council and they're working on it.” Giles still relied on the mammoth knowledge the council held, regardless of their poor approach.
“You know if she is sucking the power from Tara, she’s only gonna get stronger.” Anya spoke.
“But, Tara’s magic is good.” The dark haired boy related.
“Doesn’t matter, power is power, it’s interpreted by the entity that holds it.” She flipped aimlessly thru one of the volumes on the table.

Breathing in the cool night air was refreshing. It was dark and late, but Willow shrouded me with a shawl to cover my chains. My heels clopped along the wooden walkway as we proceeded towards the water. She detained my chains with one hand and held my hand with the other. Instead of exiting onto the beach we continued walking onto the pier. The lake was nestled between two pine laden ridges. A half moon hung in the sky above the ridge across the lake, and the moonlight reflected bright enough for me to inspect the lakeshore to look for houses or signs of other people. I presumed that the couple we saw earlier was from the only house I saw; it was approximately a mile down the shoreline. We approached the end of the dock and took a seat on a bench that faced out towards the water.
“Nice view.” She stated.
I responded, “It’s beautiful.” It all felt so surreal.
We sat in silence, except for the crickets, for the longest time. Unexpectedly, she wrapped her arm around me and used her palm to gently press my head onto her shoulder. I snuggled a tad to get more comfortable and watched the bugs make circles in the water where they lit. When the breeze would blow the water would ripple and then calm when it died. My head rose and fell with her breathing, it must have been out of habit, I wondered how long before she’d quit.
Finally, she spoke, “I will always take care of you, Tara.”
I did not reply. I already knew she would.
She shrugged her shoulder slightly; I rose up and looked at her pale face illuminated by the moonlight. Her gorgeous green eyes began to search mine and then, with the grace of the goddesses, she leaned in and kissed me. I neither pushed forward nor refrained. I simply held my position while her soft lips pressed against mine. With the gentleness of Willow and the confidence of Vamp Willow she pulled back and hovered without ever entering my mouth. I opened my eyes, she was still so close. I licked my lips and tasted her. I wanted more. I plunged forward and took her lips with my mine. Eagerly, I parted her lips with my tongue and slipped into her mouth. A moan erupted from deep within me.
It felt so good, so right, but so wrong. The latter for some reason fueled the fire within me. The thought of doing something wrong turned me on, but it was ‘Willowy Wrongness,’ which I suddenly at this moment justified as being okay. The tension that had built in me for this woman, this vampire sprung from me in the form of this kiss. I moved in tune with her, our tongues dragging across one another’s, our lips meshed. The sensual rhythm we established serenaded my body. I had to break for air, she may not have needed it to live but I did.
Note to self: there maybe other areas of the body this ‘no need for air’ may be a good thing. I rested my forehead to hers and huffed to catch my breath.
“Me likes kitten kisses.”
I pulled back and smiled.
She stood and drew me behind her. With each step back to the cabin my heart pounded double time.
