Title: Soul of the Innocent
Rating: R ( Not yet, but due to the majority of where I imagine this, most likely)
Summary: Osiris and his kingdom help Willow revive Tara when one of their own tries to destroy alll Willow's hope.

Based On: This will be based on the actual mythology, not Hollywood's darkened and often evil versions.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(This fic takes place during Villains and everything that had involved Willow and Tara has occurred except for Willow’s wild rampage and the coroner)

Prologue
Ancient Egypt

“I have tricked her like you asked, exalted one.” The demon said.
“Wonderful.” Said a cold snake-like voice, “She believed you were speaking for Osiris, did she?”

The creature who was speaking had a human body, with the head of a weird looking animal, probably looking like that of an aardvark with pyramid shaped ears. His eyes were blood red and his skin was dark brown. He was an outcast among his family, as nobody trusted him. Most watched him like a hungry hawk waiting for its next animal to feast on. He was a cruel-hearted god and he delighted in hurting others, and he might have succeeded, had it not been for a distrustful eye of another.

“What are you up to, you hideous creature?” called a regal voice behind him, “Didn’t I once prove that you weren’t welcome here? What were you doing with a demon, asking it to lie to an innocent?”

“Isis, how nice it is to see you” the creature said, snickering,” I wasn’t expecting you. I just was playing a little game.”

“I see, and your game involves feeding off people’s pain? GO NOW!” Isis said, commanding the creature to leave.

However strong he was, the creature obeyed. Isis had power over him. She had fought a battle with him and won. The odd part was he was her brother, and that this wasn’t the only time she had faced him, for he had committed a crime against the family.

“Please, bring her back!” cried a voice.

Such sadness, Isis thought, What’s going on down there?

Isis chanted a magic spell, and shortly arrived where the voice had been calling. It was a young woman who had lost her friend, and now she wanted her back. Isis slowly unfolded her wings, sparkling of rich colors. The deceased was lying on the woman’s lap. The scene brought tears to Isis’s eyes. Her appearance startled the young woman.

“Who are you?” The girl asked. “I’m Willow.”

“No need to be afraid, my child.” Isis responded gently “I’m Isis, and what are you trying to do?” She asked.

“I was trying to request that Osiris bring my love, Tara, back to life, but the demon that spoke for him told me that wasn’t possible.” Willow said, between sobs.

“I’m afraid that demon has deceived you.” Isis explained, “Osiris will bring some back to life, and he has no demons in his kingdom, and I should know, I’m his wife. If you want help, I will bring you before him. We can even bring the deceased back to life. Already, I sense a loving soul. We shall need a coffin to carry the deceased to Osiris.”

“A coffin? I don’t want to leave her alone.” Willow exclaimed

“You won’t have to. I shall call on her Ba to accompany us.” Isis said, then casting a spell calling Tara to come to them. Eventually, Tara’s soul did appear, her head now resting on bird’s body. Tara landed on Willow’s shoulder, confused as to her current form. “What’s going on here?” She asked.

Hello :)

This seems very good, I am really curious to see how everything go... I like mythology, actually mythologies, since I like everyone...

I am really curious about the Egyptian one you are puting here. I mean it is THE mythology, but how you will put it to fit with our girls and to bring Tara back.

I am waiting for more,

Thank you

Julia

“The Ba Bird is your Soul, Tara.” Isis explained, “There are other parts that usually would appear, but you won’t be dead that long.”

They all had been waiting for the casket to appear. When it did, Willow and Tara looked at the beautiful casket in awe. One detail they were curious about was two giant wings on the side of it. Willow helped Isis place the body in the casket, and closed it. Isis placed a magical spell on the casket to make sure that unworthy hands never touched it. Already knowing the place it was to land, the coffin flew off.

Willow and Tara now stared as the coffin disappeared from view, now wondering how they would follow the casket. Isis created a portal to allow the three of them to get to the judgment hall. The room was large room, more or less the size of a giant football field. The room looked beautiful, and at first, terrified Willow. Osiris sat at the far end, away from the entrance. He looked like he was mummified and unable to move. His face and hands were of an earthy green color and his face looked solemn, staring off into space.

The coffin arrived just a few minutes behind. Isis had ushered Willow forward toward Osiris. “Tell him what you want. You’re safe.” Isis said.

Even though Osiris could not move, his voice seemed to come directly from his body. “What is it that you ask of me?” he asked, his voice regal, but gentle.

“I wanted my friend back, but a demon told me not to invoke you, because her death was natural. How is murder natural?” She asked, angrily.

Osiris’ voice deepened, a seriousness added. “It isn’t. Have you forgotten what happened to me?”

“What?” Tara asked

“I am not going to let you suffer Tara, for I lost my own life in the same way. My brother was extremely jealous of me, so he plotted to kill me. He planned a party of sorts with the help of seventy-two conspirators. One of the “favors” was a large coffin. Set had the coffin secretly measured for me, but nobody knew. People tried to fit in the coffin, but none of them fit. When it was my turn, Set slammed the lid down, sealed the lid with molten lead and ordered his men to throw the coffin into the Nile River, drowning me. Isis tells me that she found my body in a far off land, but when she left the casket, Set rediscovered the casket and ripped my body to shreds. Isis was able to find most of the pieces; however, I could not survive in the land of the living, so our son, Horus, took my place my place there, and I became the king of the Underworld. “

“It seems Set was fooling with these innocent souls, your majesty.” Isis said, “I caught him in the act – consulting a demon.”

“No wonder that demon said not to consult you. It working for someone who despises you” Willow said.

“Yes, Indeed.” Osiris said, “Now Tara, There is something we must do to prove you truly are innocent”

“What’s that?”

The Weighing of the Heart.” He answered.

First I have to play my favorite sport; Tara and Willow had a rather eclectic practice (even tho they usually invoked Greco-Roman deities) and should have known how Osiris died.

But seriously Ig et annoyed myself at how Egyptian mythology is innaccuartely portrayed in film and fiction and I'm glad to see another view.

I mean, I can see that Osiris as Gatekeeper for the Dead Lands is restricted on who can be sent back to earth or not, so I can imagien there'll be things to overcome but this seems to be off to a good solid start.

“What is that?” Willow asked

“In our culture, the deceased is questioned about their life; their heart is weighed, not by a real feather, but a metaphorical one. In the case of our deceased, they get no chance if they fail the test their heart is eaten and they are no more. With you, I need to know if you are worth my time.”

The weighing began. Thoth kept track of the scale, Anubis watched the scale, and Ammit waited for the verdict. Before too long, it was known.

“I’m sorry, Ammit. She’s innocent, sire.” Anubis said, his deep voice having a bit of happiness in it.

You would have thought Ammit would be upset, that she enjoyed eating the hearts of the damned, but with Tara, the grotesque creature bowed its head in respect. She spoke with a croak-like voice.

“I rarely speak to my own people. To them, I am an unspeakable horror. I have gotten used to these horrible snacks, having the head of a crocodile, but I must say that I hate them. I am by no means, a strange creature, but it feels like an honor to pay my respects.”

“Well, well, well. Even the mighty Ammit can’t destroy these human beings.” sneered a voice behind them.

Set had appeared behind Willow and he was clearly fuming.. “Why is it that the mighty Osiris always gets respect, and I’m always left dangling, and while I’m at it,” He turned to Willow, “WHY ARE YOU HERE? I thought somebody told you it was impossible for resurrection! Well, if nobody is, I’ll make it impossible!”

Set lunged forward, grabbed Tara, and shoved her soul into a clay jar. Set showed absolutely no mercy, and when Willow tried to free Tara, Set used his staff to set a venomous snake upon her, biting her left ankle.

“Don’t follow me, girl, or the pain will worst than that.” Set said darkly, clutching the jar and disappearing.

With searing pain blasting through her ankle, Willow had no ability to move.

The snake still roamed, hissing angrily at Willow. Thoth stepped in the way and stopped the snake’s advances.

Using his staff and casting a few spells of his own, he destroyed the snake.

Thoth turned to Willow, sat next to her and gently lifted her ankle. He had kind of a stuffy voice.

“You have no fear, fair maiden. I can heal this unpleasant wound. Isis, can you support her back?”

Isis assisted Thoth and before long, Willow’s pain was gone, but not her anger and determination to help Tara.

“We need to rescue Tara. I NEED to rescue Tara!”

The others around her disagreed.

“Now is not a good time, young maiden. Set has greater power than you alone possess. The only way you would tower over his power is to have all of us with you. As for right now, Tara will be able to alive. Set will not be able to harm her if he feels he has power over her. We have something necessary to her survival that he doesn’t – her body.” Thoth said.

Meanwhile, Set had taken Tara to a deserted area, and decided to take advantage of his captive, but as much he was evil, he was extremely weak and greedy, especially to a pretty and innocent girl, even if that ‘girl’ happened to be just a ‘soul’. Tara knew how to smooth talk the enemy once she realized his weakness – he wanted to be the center of attention.

“So, you want attention. I have an idea. Release me, and I will return when I am ‘alive’ with a friend, and we shall give you our full attention” She said huskily, making Set tremble. Tara knew she and Willow would not do that, however, she also knew Willow would be hell-bent on revenge, and this time, Tara was determined to help her.

Set was drooling over the prospect. “You have just granted your own release, my dear lady. Please do stop by when you have a chance”. His eyes flashed with delight. Tara, meanwhile, hiding her fear and disgust, flew quickly out of Set’s abandoned castle. Someone was waiting to rescue her. Willow and Thoth were standing in the shadows.

“You’re hurt!” Willow softly exclaimed, noticing the blood on Tara’s right wing.

“I knew….it…ow...” Tara said, between searing pains.” I just….didn’t want….him to… notice.”

“You must have sustained this injury when Set shoved you into the clay jar” Thoth observed taking the bird’s wing and healing it “You two go ahead, I’ll stay behind and make sure that creature is out of your way.”

“You healed me rather quickly, and for that I must thank you, but I am amazed how quick it was.” Tara whispered appreciatively.

The stuffiness that usually plagued Thoth’s voice faded away. “Your wound was not as bad as one of Horus’s wounds, thank goodness. I had to replace one of his eyes due to a battle with Set. You were afraid, I see, but you escaped with a minor wound. Now, I would advise you to leave. One more thing… you should not have to fly, Tara.” He magically created a sling-type object, and placed it around Willow’s neck. The back of it just touched her chest, just over her heart. “You have faced a horror, now I think you deserve to rest.”

With that, the tiny bird slipped into the sling. Exhausted, Tara fell asleep to the sound of Willow’s gentle heartbeat.

Time passed slowly, but Willow finally made back to Osiris’s throne room. “Is Tara all right?” Isis asked.

“Yes. She is. She’s just tired.” Willow replied. “Set certainly has prices over our heads, but he won’t succeed too easily. I bet Tara’s experiences may help us charm him, but for right now,” She gently looked down at the tiny soul, like mother looking at her child, “she’s suffered enough.”

“I am relived she is okay. We have something to show you.” Isis backed away from Willow’s view. “We have stabilized Tara’s heart, and she will be breathing once her soul reenters her body. However, we haven’t cleaned the stains from her injuries, we have closed them, but haven’t cleaned them... We magically got the heart beating. We believe you should be the nurse. She is your love.”

Tara’s body seemed lifeless, the bullet-riddled shirt and bloody pants still on her body, however, the body was not punctured. Her cheeks were not rosy, a deep shade of gray on her features.

“Tara, sweetie.” Willow lovingly gazed at the sleeping spirit, gently rubbing the bird’s back. “It’s time to wake up.” One of Willow’s happy tears landed on the sleeping soul. Tara awoke with a start, feeling the tear land on her head.

Tara flew out of the sling, and landed on Willow’s shoulder. “What is going on?” She asked.

“We have restored your body, Tara.” Anubis said, “However, your blood will not be regained until you reenter it.”

Tara looked at Willow. “See you soon,” She said, smiling at Willow, flying away from her. “I will be human again”.

With that, Tara’s soul reentered her body, blood rushing to her body’s features. Willow ran towards her.

The features that were gray were now rosy, and Tara’s eyelids now opened, an expression of admiration within her tears.

Tara was still lying in the open casket, the wings now formed as steps leading out of the golden surroundings. Tara had trouble getting out of the casket, so Willow got behind her and with Tara’s help, gently lifted her out of the casket.

The empty casket magically transformed itself into a stone beetle, and Isis kept the beetle where it would be safe. “This casket may help in your battle with Set, and I will keep it for you until it is needed.”

Tara was not listening; instead, she was looking at her clothes, in disgust. “Willow, I am not feeling very comfortable.” Tara was scratching at the remains of the smelly clothes, which had on her since she died. Willow had given Tara a gentle look and then looked at Isis for confirmation. Isis gently pointed to a large door and summoned Willow forward.

She whispered so Tara would not hear. “Behind that door is a shower pool. There are linen rags and soap that you may use to cleanse Tara. To control the temperature of the water, just place these jewels into the wall.” There were five different jewels in Isis’s hand.” Red is hot, orange is warm, blue is semi-cold and black is freezing. I will only give you the first three.”

Willow took a linen cloth Isis had given her and beckoned towards her. She took the cloth and covered Tara’s eyes, making it so Tara could only hear Willow’s voice. Willow gently grabbed Tara’s hand, and led her into the lavishly decorated shower area.

This next part is going to be probably rated or R or NC-17. First time I've written 'steamy' Willow & Tara, so bear that in mind.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Willow had a loving look on her face, as she closed the door of the room, placing the orange jewel into the slot beside the foot of the statue of the god Sobek, in which the water gushed from his open crocodile mouth, ten thousand feet above the pool.

Tara, meanwhile, who had been blindsided by the linen, had no idea what was going on. “What are you doing, Willow?

Willow teased Tara, in the middle of disrobing herself. Willow slowly removed her clothing, letting her clothes softly fall to the floor. Tara was still oblivious to what was going on.

Willow, undressed, went over to Tara and led her over to a soft bench. Laying her down, she removed the blood stained pants and foul-smelling underwear. “Now, Sit up and lift your arms up.” Willow said gently. Tara did as Willow wanted and soon felt the shirt rise off her chest, with the bra not far behind, as warm air hit her bare chest. However, even though Willow was removing the shirt, the blindfold did not come off.

Willow gathered Tara’s rotting old clothes, and destroyed them with a magical spell. A flame engulfed the clothes and in an instant, they were gone.

Willow led Tara, now stark naked and blushing furiously, over to the pool. Only when Tara’s feet had dipped into the warm, gushing water, did Willow remove the blindfold.

Willow sat beside Tara, her green eyes gazing at her with a soothing expression, while Tara quietly let the redhead douse her with small spoonfuls of water. “I was thinking of this not only because I wanted to be little naughty, but also because I noticed how uncomfortable you were before you had even said so.” Willow touched Tara’s skin, and because it was so dry, it peeled with the slightest touch. Willow noticed the area on Tara’s back where Warren’s bullet had pierced through her back. The wound indeed healed; however, the stains from having rested against the coffin were still visible.

Willow took one of the linen cloths, added a mix of water and soap, and gently cleaned the remnants of the dried blood off Tara’s back. A goddess appeared, in the guise of a hippopotamus, and offered new towels in exchange for the used towels. Willow accepted her offer and the hippo snapped the old towels in her jaws and disappeared in a sea of bubbles and perfume while the fresh towels were by the pool.

Tara grabbed Willow’s hand and together they lowered each other deeper into the warm water. “Your actions make me feel better, Willow. When did you become Dr. Rosenberg?” Tara rested her head on Willow’s shoulder. “You have rejuvenated me.” Tara was partly right, as because of Willow was doing, all the dead skin leapt from her body as if it was like snakeskin, and vanished.

Tara looked at Willow endearingly “I imagine you don’t feel any better, missy.” She took a cloth from the side and dipped it in the warm water. “I must thank you for your commitment.” Tara kneeled next to Willow’s legs and spread them open, allowing her to sit between them. A surprised look landed on Willow’s face, as she began to realize that her girlfriend was now washing her off, seductively purring to heighten her experience. Willow’s heart was racing.

“You did so much to protect me,” Tara explained, “that now I believe you deserve the queenly treatment.” She sealed her words with a passionate kiss.

It did not take long before Willow and Tara decided it was time to come out of the pool. Willow had found the garments the gods had provided, and the two giant-sized towels sitting on the bench, probably left when the goddess had entered the room.

Willow dried off and quickly put on the clothes. She helped Tara get out, and wrapped the giant towel around her, effectively cuddling her. Tara responded with puppy dog eyes with a half smile showing her affection.

Willow had no plans to remove the stone while they were dressing, as the warmth of the room came from the hot water in the pool. Afterwards, Willow pocketed the jewel.

Willow and Tara left the large room and went back into the meeting area.

“Feeling better?” Isis asked Tara

Tara answered Isis while not focusing her attention on her. “Yes.” She said, gazing up at Willow, “Thanks to Willow’s thoughtfulness. She knew I wasn’t feeling well.” She batted her eyes and mouthed ‘Thank You” to Willow while wrapping an arm suddenly around the redheads’ waist. She and Willow both turned their heads to Isis and said in unison, seriously, “What about Set?”

One Final Update -- Long Update :party
---------------------------------------------------------
“Ah, you are wondering about that foul creature, are you?” Osiris boldly, “Thoth has recommended you drink a magical potion before going to fool this dangerous enemy. Isis brought over two champagne glasses with a red bottle next to them. “Inside this red bottle is a love potion, however not to the deceiver, but for the truly devoted such as you two. The potion will prevent his advancement on either of you – your bond with the other will be your protection, however the potion needs both samples of each others’ blood – only then – with the other as part of you – will you be safe.”

Willow looked disgusted, but Tara eased her into the concept. “If you’re uncomfortable, draw my blood first, Willow.”
Tara tightly hugged an unsure Willow as Horus handed her two small syringe-like objects with tiny needles on the end.
Tara led Willow back to the large shower room, whispering to comfort her. “We will head back in here… Away from preying eyes…Willow, are you okay? Here, Let me help you, sweetie.” Tara lifted Willow into her arms, carrying her gently into the large room.

Tara lowered Willow, and then proceeded to close the large door behind them.

Willow was uncomfortable, but she knew that the experiences she and Tara had faced with Set, each individually were far more a threat to their lives. Being alone with Tara aided in this understanding, and finally, Willow understood.

“Tara”

Tara rolled one of her sleeves so that Willow could collect the blood from that they needed from her. Willow gently pricked Tara’s forearm and drew blood. Tara never flinched, but instead grabbed a cloth to stop the bleeding. Willow, on the other hand, was nervous as a scared puppy dog, but Tara’s calm voice stopped her. Tara gently found the donor area, and poked it gently. Willow flinched, but Tara stopped the bleeding, stood up and kissed her.

Willow and Tara found the goblets of potions waiting to have the blood poured in, but first the blood of both girls to have been thoroughly mixed. This seemed rather grotesque to both Willow and Tara, although Tara understood that they were guests in a barbaric period, and if one the gods said the blood-mixed drink would protect them, as Willow seemed to understand in the large shower room, it would be worth the uncertainty that they might face with Set.

Anubis took the two vessels, slid over a bowl, and cracked the containers open, dripping the simultaneous flow of blood into a bowl underneath. Using a magic spell, he removed the taste of the blood, and poured equal amounts into the golden goblets with the red potion inside. Willow and Tara reluctantly drank the goblets’ contents, now hoping they would be safe.

“Thoth is back from his watch over the abandoned castle, which Set inhabits, and he will guide you there, once again.” Osiris stated, “Tara, I assume your experience with Set may help, although be warned, seeing you now alive and healthy may make him furious, and … not in his human form. He has the power to transform into a raging hippopotamus, and crush anything in his path. Good thing for you, you drank the potion, and this potion will protect you in any form. Depending on the direness it may transform each of you into animals.”

On this explanation, the girls followed Thoth to the castle, which for a deserted area looked about the way it should. Tara had never noticed the rundown state it was in, since she had been brought there as hostage because of Set’s rage. She had questions, questions that would probably transform the angelic, gentle person she was into a fierce warrior.

Why had Set attacked Willow for attempting to bring her back, and why was she the victim of his rage?

Tara abruptly stopped thinking as a cold sneering voice greeted their group. “Well, what I see before me but a traitor and two beautiful women, now who have come to visit me.” Set had noticed their arrival. “Tara, you did as you said, and how did you manage to stay alive?” Set’s eyes once again became blood red, which usually meant he was angry.

“While you work against Osiris and the others, they were the ones who graciously and respectfully, helped Willow revive me.” Tara gripped Willow’s hand so firmly that it startled her, “and no matter what kind of death took my life, I would have granted Willow the permission to bring me back to life, even if it was against the laws of nature. That one time would be one time I would grant it, for without one; the other cannot survive, maybe live, but not peacefully.”

Set was not one to listen to reason – He had had enough. “I hoped one of you would become allies with me, but now I see you love and care – which are impure and disgusting to me, and it insults me. Oh, well, no matter. Eventually it shall be time to KILL you both. You see, Tara, I was who wanted you dead. Of course, I had not reckoned with true love, and it is no wonder why. I love pointless death, and if you could have heard the demon tell me that this red-headed devil—“

“She is an ANGEL!” Yelled Tara, through gritted teeth. “No one calls her that in front of me!”

Set’s rage had finally become a huge threat. Just as Osiris had mentioned, Set slowly transformed into a giant hippopotamus, and now was able to snap anything into twigs. Slowly, as Set walked towards them, he cracked the foundation, which was already rundown, making the place crumble slowly all around them. The Hippopotamus now spoke in a low earthquake-type voice, which only made the danger worse, “You shall not survive!” The hippo laughed a deep cruel laugh, stomping more of the foundation into oblivion, leaving Willow and Tara, standing on a tiny splinter of land. As if a puppeteer was controlling them, Willow and Tara shot up to the ceiling, and out of the castle. Set however, never survived the outcome. Too busy trying to destroy them, he never cared that what he was doing was about to kill him.

Willow and Tara were magically lowered and now they were safe. The castle and Set had crumbled out of existence.

The trio now walked back to the hall Osiris was. A ram stood waiting for them.

“You have been brought back, Tara, and you both have saved us from Set’s evil treachery. As a gift of our appreciation, we would like to give you a life that you can treasure.” Osiris stopped speaking and the ram now spoke. “Follow me, ladies.” He led them to a room filled with clay and a potters’ wheel. “Usually, we don’t put a life in this world this way, but you won’t remember us. We shall wipe your memory, and you will live it without wondering. Osiris has asked that you be the carrier, Tara. Your life was taken so he has wanted to give you a joyful second chance.”

The ram led her to a bed, while stood nearby. Khnum lifted Tara’s shirt, exposing her belly. He created a small being on the potters’ wheel and then magically, as if Tara’s belly had a zipper, opened it and placed the child within. Willow and Tara both blinked appreciatively and started to cry.

Then as if Egypt was all a dream, it all faded. Tara never died, because the gods had reversed what happened and had blessed her with a child. Time had passed magically once the child was placed within her womb. Willow was happy as ever, and the two of them never remembered the Egyptian gods as their memory was erased – which allowed them to enjoy life.

THE END
