Please don't be sorry!

While I'm old to the board, I'm kinda new to the posting thing. Nevertheless, I really wanted to thank you for such a heartwarming fic...I like the additions of the Destiny and Grace. Their similarities to W/T not only cracks me up, but has a lot of authenticity - I find that couples who are friends often mirror each other in their personalities. It's a perfect hoot. :laugh

Just looking forward to the New Year's Eve festivities will tide me over for a while.

I wish two things for you, in gratitude for what you've provided here. May you have:

***
a wonderful time in Londontown, and

*** the happiest Christmas imagineable.

Warm regards from a devoted reader, :heart

CHAPTER 16 – New Year’s Eve

Part A: The Winter Ball

Willow grumbled moodily under her breath as she and Tara boarded the bus that would take them to the toboggan center early that morning. Although the redhead didn’t consider it morning as the sky was still a dark blue, gradually getting lighter by the minute. “Good morning!” A pretty, dark-skinned British woman smiled at the couple. “I’m Nicola, and I am the director of the programmes like this.” She held out a hand and Tara shook it. Jealousy shone in Willow’s eyes once more. “This is my husband Dan.” Nicola added, pointing to a man sitting in the driver’s seat. Instantly Willow relaxed. “And I suppose…” She traced a finger down the list. “Ah, Willow and Tara Roseclay?”

Roseclay? Tara wondered silently how the lodge could have mixed up Maclay and Rosenberg. “Uh, actually-“

“Yes, that’s us.” Willow interrupted, grabbed Tara’s hand and dragged her up the rest of the steps. Once sat in two seats near the front of the bus, she turned to the blonde with shining eyes. “Isn’t that wonderful?”

“Wonderful what?”

Willow waved her hands around as she tried to get the words out, successfully hitting Grace who was sitting in front a couple of times. “I mean, they got it all mixed up, I mean, our surnames, they thought we were married already or something, and so they got it mixed up or maybe they did it on purpose so we would realize but isn’t that wonderful?”

Tara shook her head, even more confused than ever. “I beg pardon? What are you on about, Will?”

“She’s trying to say-“ Destiny glanced over the headrest of her own seat, but was instantly pulled back down by an annoyed Grace.

”Don’t be nosy, Des.”

“What I was saying is that I’m trying to say that we’ve got a surname.” Willow explained. “Instead of a boring hyphenated long name like Rosenberg-Maclay or Maclay-Rosenberg, we’ve got Roseclay.”

Tara grinned as she pondered. “It’s kinda catchy, isn’t it?”

“Yah!” Willow bounced up and down in her seat, all tiredness forgotten as the bus started down the gravel drive. “Woo hoo! We’re on our way! We’re going tobogganing!”

“We’re going tobogganing!” Destiny joined in, also bouncing. “Ha! I’m bouncing higher than you!”

“Are not!”

Tara didn’t have time to warn her fiancée that the bus ceiling was awfully low as Willow went just a little too high and connected with the top of the bus with a resounding ‘thud’. “Ow.” Willow moaned, rubbing the rapidly forming bump on her head. Tara smothered a grin. Hopefully now Willow wouldn’t do anything silly on the toboggan run, with an aching head to remind her of the last time she did something stupid.

--

Tara wrapped her scarf tighter around her neck and obediently climbed onto the toboggan that Nicola was holding still for her. The small sleds were first led up a very steep, snowy hill by a chained track, then let go and the riders had to find their own way down the free track. As the sled started up the hill, Tara found herself sliding backwards until she was practically hanging off the toboggan, only able to hold onto the brake.

“Tara!” Willow yelled from about twenty metres in front, turning around and waving violently. Tara could see that Willow’s sled was jerking, probably from the redhead’s actions.

“Put both hands on the brake!” She called back, concerned for her girlfriend. “I don’t want you falling off!” The hill was getting steeper and steeper.

Wondering who was behind her, Tara turned and groaned as she saw that it was Destiny. The worst person to be stuck in front of. Of course the brunette would have fun trying to bang into the back of Tara’s sled – it was just the type of thing that woman would do.

“Hey, Tara!” Destiny began to raise both arms, thought better of it and grasped hold of the brake again. “Bet I can beat you!”

“Damn.” Tara muttered under her breath. The hill was levelling out now, and she could see that Willow’s sled had already been let off the slope and was going at top speed down the track.

Willow let out a shriek of delight as she careened down, her hair whipping behind her, the wind stinging her face and flushing her cheeks. She pulled the brake back against her, making the toboggan go faster, and almost tipped the whole thing over backwards in the process. “Whoops.” She muttered, leaned forwards again and continued downwards, wondering how Tara was doing with Destiny on her heels. Turning her head slightly to see her soon-to-bed wife, Willow had to laugh as she saw the panicked expression on Tara’s face as Destiny gained on her. “DESTINY!” She bellowed as loudly as she could. “LEAVE MY GIRLFRIEND ALONE!”

Destiny laughed, but slowed her speed a little. Tara breathed a sigh of relief. She was able to enjoy the ride now without worrying about being thrown off by a certain person behind her.

Nicola was at the bottom to greet them all. “Looks like you had fun, Willow.” She giggled as she saw Willow’s sparkling eyes, flushed face and smile stretching from ear to ear.

“YEAH!” Willow seemed to have forgotten how to talk instead of yell. Nicola clutched her sides in hysterics as Willow started dancing around the small, concrete platform, twirling her scarf around her head. “I’m just practising for tonight’s ball.” She complained as she saw that the entire group of twenty were staring at her.

“The ball… yes, if you dance like that, then I’m not going.” Tara retorted. Nicola hastily clapped her hands together.

“O-kay! Who wants another go!”

“ME!”

Tara: No, I-I understand. You have to be with the person you l-love.

Willow: I am.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; I love the surname Roseclay. The bit where the girls surnames was mixed up was good, especially with Willow 'successfully hitting' that other girl, lol.

I really liked the image of them all riding toboggans, and with Willow 'rescuing' Tara. Just great.

Looking forwards to the Winter Ball.

Hope you had a nice holiday.

Edited to make my dedications (I like dedications, tee hee): To my Spoon *you know who you are*, Stef and chilled monkey

CHAPTER 16 – New Year’s Eve

Part B: The Winter Ball

“There will be four teams.” Nicola said to her group of sixteen tourists. Willow and Tara moved automatically closer together like young children did when they wanted to be paired in a gym class. Nicola grinned at them. “I think we’ll have Willow as the captain on the Red team and Tara as captain on the Blue team.”

“NO!” Willow bellowed, looking completely distraught and as if she were going to burst into tears. The other fifteen discreetly tried to cover their snickers, apart from Destiny, who purposely burst out sniggering loudly.

“Willow, I’m just joking.” Nicola intervened hastily as Tara shot Destiny an evil glare. “Okay, four on each team – let’s have Willow, Tara, Destiny and Grace on the Blue team, with Grace as captain, Charlie, Daniel, Laura and Francis on the Red team, Yasmine, Mina, Susie and Isabella on the Yellow team and Laurie, Clark, Paul and Bobby on the Green team. Settled?”

Willow nodded reluctantly, though she was secretly dismayed at the thought of not being able to pelt Destiny with snowballs. Lately the younger girl was getting very irritating, and almost everybody seemed to be noticing. “O-kay.”

“Right!” Nicola clapped her hands together. “I’m referee… Red team behind that line.”

With a giggle, Willow darted to stand next to Tara – only to realize that she was trying to hold hands with a Tara-look alike called Laura. “Oops.” Willow meekly slunk back to stand next to Tara, who had removed her evil glare from Destiny to her own girlfriend. “Sorry, baby, I thought she was you.”

“Nice to know that you know who your girlfriend is, Will.” Destiny said loudly. She scooped up a handful of snow and aimed at the redhead. Nicola leapt in front of Willow, trying hard not to smile.

“Destiny, Willow is on your own team.” She turned to address everyone. “If I see anyone pelting their own team with snowballs, then the entire team is disqualified. Okay?”

By ‘half time’, there was only the Yellow and Blue team left. Tara could see that Willow and Destiny were itching to stuff the cold, wet snow down each other’s backs, but their competitive streaks overcame that and they fought even harder against the Yellow team.

“Willow, help!” Tara yelped as a woman called Susie chased her around the small, snowy clearing, a large handful of snow at the ready. Purposely, Willow stuck her foot out and sent the brunette sprawling across the ground.

“Oh! I’m really sorry!” At first, Tara thought that her fiancée was being sarcastic, but as she turned, she saw with a grin that Willow was helping Susie to her feet looking completely horrified with what she had done. “Do you forgive me?”

Susie nodded silently, then dunked Willow’s head in the snow. “Oh! I’m really sorry!”

Now that’s sarcasm. Tara thought. Boy, if that had been Destiny…

“I saw that, Destiny!” Nicola bellowed, making everyone jump out of their skins. Feeling like a topsy-turvy toy, Tara turned again, and saw Destiny with her hand halfway down Grace’s back, obviously deciding that if she couldn’t catch Willow then her girlfriend was the next best thing. The only problem was that she had forgotten Grace was on her team. “The Blue team are disqualified! Yellows win!”

“DESTINY!” Willow stomped across the clearing as loudly as she could, tripping herself up quite a few times, a look of pure thunder on her face. “How could you do that to Grace of all people? I mean, hello, girlfriend? You got us disqualified! I would never do that to Tara! It’s just a game!”

“Will, honey…” Tara raised a tentative hand. The redhead spun around.

“What?”

“I think you’re backing up on yourself.”

“Huh?”

“Um, I mean, well, it’s just a game. So don’t worry that we didn’t win.”

“But she got us disqualified!”

“Duh. Everyone got disqualified.” Destiny retorted.

In one, quick motion, Willow had a spluttering Destiny almost buried in snow. “There.” She said with satisfaction, getting to her feet and brushing off her gloved hands. “Come on, sweetie, let’s go and get ready for the Winter Ball.”

Tara: No, I-I understand. You have to be with the person you l-love.

Willow: I am.

Being on winter break and all, I have plenty of time to write. Which means more updates. I have an update!! Another one. I'll go with the personal replies later, promise.

Here it is, Kittens. The third and final part of New Year’s Eve… the Winter’s Ball. Also, final part of New Year’s Eve, not the entire fic. That would be just rushing it. Tee hee.

For Piper… the land of Chocolate awaits us.

CHAPTER 16 – New Year’s Eve

Part C: The Winter Ball

Some might have said that the Great Hall in the main lodge where the tourists dined was much over decorated, but to the soon-to-be married couple that came through the double doors arm in arm, there was never such a beautiful sight. White strips of ribbon hung from the high ceiling, dangling low over their heads. Candles flickered on every available table, a huge vase of the most romantic flower, a rose, on the mantelpiece above the fireplace. Several guests had arrived already, men dressed in tuxedos, women in long, flowing gowns, and they moved around in time to the music, talking quietly, sipping champagne and generally having a wonderful time.

Tara allowed the man near the door to take both their coats and gloves, and saw her fiancée properly for the first time, as Willow had refused beforehand. Her new floor-length dark red dress shaped all the right curves, the spaghetti straps showing off her delicate, well structured shoulders and her short hair was brushed loose, framing her face. A smile quirked on her lips as she saw that Tara couldn’t keep her eyes off her. “What?” Willow asked innocently, walking towards the table where the punchbowl was. They had both agreed to leave the drink until after the meal.

“What? You look totally h-hot, that’s what.” Tara said as Willow poured them both glasses of punch.

“I do?” Willow glanced down at herself self-consciously. “No – I just threw this on.”

“Liar.” Tara teased, ignoring the glass held out to her and pulling Willow onto the dance floor. “Dance with me.”

Willow strained her ears. “I can’t hear any music. You can’t dance to nothing.”

“Sure you can.” Tara said just as a song came over the speakers. Her heart leapt as she heard the words, and Willow’s shining green eyes widened. It was the same song that they had danced to at Tara’s birthday party.

Tara wrapped her arms around Willow’s neck. “Even when I’m at my worst, you – you make me feel special.” She said softly as they swayed in time to the music. “How do you do that?”

Willow stared deep into her girlfriend’s sparkling blue eyes. “Magic.”

“What a coincidence.” Tara moved closer to her fiancée. Her heart fluttered as it did every time she was in this much contact with Willow.

“Not a coincidence.” Willow whispered into Tara’s soft blonde hair. “Magic.” They danced on the spot, slowly, their arms wrapped tightly around each other as if they were afraid to let go. The music seemed to grow louder, but with a tender softness, and Tara had never felt so happy. She buried her head in her lover’s shoulder, praying never to let the night end.

They eventually pulled away, reluctantly, as a more jazzed song came on. Both burst into laughter as they recognized the song of which Tara had sung all the way home on their second night, when they had been a little – drunk.

“Don’t blame it on the sunshine! Don’t blame it on the moonlight! Don’t blame it on the good times! Blame it on the boogies!”

“This sure is a small world.” Willow, grasping Tara’s hand, led them to a spare table, purposefully avoiding Destiny’s frantic waving. That night, she wanted her baby all to herself.

Neither girl managed to make it through the second course. The Swiss foods were delicious, but extremely filling. With a happy sigh, Willow leant back in her chair a little too far and landed on her back on the floor. “Ooh.”

Tara stifled a giggle as she helped Willow to her feet. “Are you okay, sweetie?”

“My stomach feels bloated.” Willow stuck her stomach out purposefully. “Can we go and get some champagne now?” She grabbed Tara’s hand once more possessively and took her over to the bar, where they were served instantly.

”No whisky.” Tara advised.

“Nuh-uh.” Willow shook her head practically. “I’m surprised we didn’t die of pneumonia from that night.”

The fair-haired one smiled shyly. “But it was fun, wasn’t it?” She took a sip of champagne, and, feeling the bubbles go up her nose, spluttered and hastily set the glass back down. “I think the champagne is a little different here.”

“Let’s dance again.” Willow suggested, holding out her arm to Tara. A soft, slow classical song had come on. The way the gentle music seemed to flow was a wonder to Tara, who herself had an amazing talent at the piano and her arts. They walked onto the almost empty dance floor, and stood protectively close to each other, Tara’s soft hair brushing Willow’s bare shoulders and Willow herself whispering sweet nothings into her lover’s ear. “You have the cutest ears.” Willow found herself saying quietly as they swung to and fro. They were decorated with the most beautiful white pearls that Willow had given Tara that Christmas.

“You have the cutest smile.” Tara replied, looking upwards and seeing that smile again. At that moment, everything seemed perfect. It had grown dark outside, and the candles and fire created a warm, cozy glow despite the many people in the room. Yet, Tara felt like she was all alone in the arms of her Willow. Her Everything.

“The year 2000 is almost over.” Willow said finally, looking at the grandfather clock near the entrance. It said 11:55. “Five minutes until 2001.”

“This was the most wonderful Christmas, Will.”

“I know.” Willow replied with a grin, thinking back to their sauna experience. Tara shook her head, looking solemn.

”I’m serious. You – you made it so perfect. The perfect Christmas. We had what we always wanted. We’re going to be married. We’re going to have a child. A proper family. You made that for me, Will. I never thought – I never thought that dreams could come true. But they did. You made my dreams come true.”

Willow brushed a lock of hair from Tara’s eyes. “No.” She whispered. “You made your dreams come true.”

The grandfather clock chimes told them that the year was officially over.

Tara: No, I-I understand. You have to be with the person you l-love.

Willow: I am.

That was lovely. Your description of Willow in the red dress sounds just stunning and I like how you included 'Can't take my eyes off you'. That song is such a great theme for Willow and Tara.

The mark of a good fic (for me) is when you can see and hear it in your head and that is just what happens when I read this. Cool.

I just finished reading what you have so far...great story. The packing scenes in chapter one were delightful, esp. chuckled at Willow's comment to Tara about putting her breasts away !

[Way too cute !] The double marriage proposals were charming ...as most of their interactions have been . Hope you will continue with their romance [marriage, parenthood]when they once again return to their half of the world.

Bravo!

P.S. I think I read another of your pieces, "A New Day Has Come". I found that story very engrossing. I too , thought Anya would help return Tara. Hope you will also follow up on that story. I no longer watch BTVS since Tara's death, so your season 7 would be exciting...as long as W/T reigned supreme!

Halfway Across the World

Postby 4evaWill » Mon Dec 30, 2002 3:39 am

CHAPTER 17 – Aftermath

Yawning, Willow turned over onto her side and smiled at the Sleeping Beauty next to her. Long, blonde locks spread across the pillow, one hand thrown over the bed sheets and the other tucked behind her head, Tara made little kissing noises in her sleep. Willow sincerely hoped that her girlfriend was dreaming about her.

“Goddess…” Tara murmured, and Willow smothered a laugh. Yup, she’s dreaming about me all right. She thought to herself. Tara had many pet names for the redhead, Goddess being one of them. “Pancakes.” Tara whispered, her eyes still closed. Willow began to wonder if Tara were really sleeping or just trying to make Willow laugh. A hand travelling down her bare leg told all.

“You vixen.” Willow whispered in Tara’s ear, snuggling into the curves of her girlfriend’s body. The unknowing hand was moving upwards now, towards Willow’s center, electrical energy shooting through the fingers. Willow felt the power of love surging through her soul, awakening her properly. The sun was already up, and it was getting later in the morning, but she wanted to lie there forever and ever with Tara in her arms. “It’s late.” She said at last, voicing her thoughts. Tara’s beautiful blue eyes finally opened and she stared sleepily at Willow.

“G’morning.”

“Vixen.” Willow repeated, slyly reaching under the covers. Tara giggled and pretended to look shocked.

“Willow Danielle Rosenberg!”

“Uh-oh, full name alert.” Willow smiled.

“It’s so early… too early…”

“You started it.” Willow said childishly. She looked out of the window at the surprisingly bright sunshine of the winter. “Besides, it’s actually getting quite late. That’s my excuse.” She insisted, her fingers curling in delight, reaching, wanting, needing… she let out a loud, inelegant snort of laughter as Tara rolled off the bed and landing on the floor with a ‘thud’, taking all of the bed sheets with her. “Sweetie? You okay?”

“Uh-huh.” Tara’s tousled head appeared. “Just a few bruises here and there, nothing a few kisses can’t fix.” It was her turn to smile cheekily and boldly as she pointed to her lower body. Willow folded her arms, sitting upright on the bed with nothing covering herself.

“Can you get bruises there?”

Tara shrugged. “I thought you could get bruises anywhere. I don’t know.” Pushing the covers aside with her foot, she crawled back onto the double mattress and placed a leg either side of Willow. “Find out?” Willow’s lips travelled eagerly downwards, exploring her lover’s body, feeling the flesh against her mouth, she wanted to find out everything about this woman, anything was possible. Seconds passed, Tara lying spread-eagled across the bed, Willow ‘on top’, pressing dozens of tiny and intimate kisses all over Tara’s naked body. Both hearts, combined, aching with longing and passion, tearing through their souls and ripping them apart yet bringing them together, the explosions of the sweaty flesh touching together, Willow wanted more, Tara needed more, she could feel burning inside of her, and it couldn’t stop, she wouldn’t let it stop… she let out a small moan as Willow pressed hard yet gently against her, and grasped her lover around the neck, pulling her down next to her. They kissed, at first softly, almost hesitantly, and then the tenderness grew, passion overcoming both. Willow reluctantly pulled away, then, a sly grin on her face, travelled downwards, tugging at Tara’s soft, erect nipples with her teeth, feeling like a child exploring a new toy. “Oh, Goddess…” Tara whispered, pulling Willow’s head upright to stare her in the eye. “Oh, Goddess, I love you so much.”

Willow sank down next to Tara on the sheets, feeling hot and shivering all at the same time from their brief moment. “I love you too, baby.” She managed to say through gasps of breath. “We don’t have to do anything too strenuous today, do we? I’ve exhausted myself.”

Tara giggled and pressed her lips against Willow’s chest. “We can just stay in bed all day, if you really want…” She whispered, loving the feel of her fiancée’s flesh against her tongue.

“Oh, I want.” Willow retorted. “Oh, I want so much…”

Tara: No, I-I understand. You have to be with the person you l-love.

Willow: I am.
