Thoughts in italics! Notes Ok, I took some liberties with Willow’s birthday here. We know when Tara’s is from Family and well, Helpless (s7.4) and we know when Buffy’s is but I’ve never been able to glean Willow’s birthday. So I’m giving her a November birthday. She is younger than Tara but older than Buffy. Why did I do this? Can you guess? Could it be that an NC-17 part is on the horizon and I want that to involve 2 18 year olds, not a 17 year old? Bingo. Therefore, according to me, Willow’s birthday is the day after Thanksgiving this year. Presto!
Willow moaned softly as she felt Tara’s weight press against her. The softness of skin. Of all skin. Finally. And oh so soft. And so hot. And so wet. And, and, and. She was lost in the feeling of kisses and touches and movement and eternity. Reaching to pull the blonde closer. As Tara pulled away, Willow spread her legs, allowing Tara’s returning leg to press between them, onto her wetness. She groaned out loud with the contact.
“Willow sweetie,” Tara whispered.
“Oh yeah baby,” Willow moaned.
Tara nuzzled Willow’s neck, “No computer class again today baby?”
“Mmmm. No, Ms. Benson’s out again,” Willow answered, opening her eyes suddenly, she looked at the blue eyes smiling at her, “Tara?”
“Yeah baby. Good dream?”
“Oh Goddess. Yes, very good,” Willow swallowed and blushed bright red.
Tara smiled down at her girlfriend, laying her body alongside the redhead’s in the bed: “Was I in it?”
“Starring role baby,” Willow smiled back.
“Wanna share?”
“Ummm, let’s just say that it was very uhhh exciting and even the frogs were impressed,” Willow answered.
“Glad to impress them. At least they weren’t attacking this time,” the blonde teased. Moving from the bed, she grabbed a pile of envelopes, “The office asked me to bring these up to you. Too full for your box Ms. Early Admission envelopes from MIT, Harvard, Yale, Duke, Cambridge, and Oxford,” she said tossing the pile on the bed. “Hmmm. I wonder what made them think I would run into you today,” she smiled at the redhead.
Willow looked through the pile before opening a letter in a business envelope. Her face turned a darker and darker shade as Tara watched curiously. “Unbelievable! No actually not unbelievable, actually totally believable and totally predictable. But Phooey!” she yelled, handing Tara the letter.
Tara read outloud:
November 10,
Dearest Willow,
I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying school. I have spoken to the headmistress and have gotten very good reports. It is obvious that you are in a much more stable social circle there than you were here. I’m sure that you are very thankful for the opportunity to get such a quality education.
I have wonderful news. I have been granted a two-month fellowship overseas to present and teach a course on The Sociology of Parenting in the 21st century. It is a wonderful opportunity. I leave in 10 days and will return January 15. As your father is also out of the country until Spring, obviously you can not come home for the Thanksgiving break. I am sure that the time can be better utilized studying for your college boards.
If your friend Bunny and her mother can have you, perhaps you can visit your friends for a week of your Christmas vacation. Please do not stay with that Harris boy. His family is very uncouth and makes ungodly racket all hours of the day and night. I do not think his influence is appropriate. The headmistress has assured me that you are welcome to stay there for any or all portion of that break.
I am enclosing a check for $475 which is the refund for your round-trip plane ticket. Please use the money to buy something you will enjoy. Also enclosed is a check for $100 for your birthday.
We are very proud of you and look forward to seeing you soon. Happy Birthday.
Sincerely, Sheila Rosenberg.
“I’m sorry baby,” Tara offered, “Your mother’s teaching on Sociology of Parenting!?”
“Yeah I know: Irony’s kind of ironic that way. It’s just so typical. I mean she couldn’t even call me and now I can’t go home and see everyone for Thanksgiving or even Christmas because it doesn’t fit her schedule. And no one will be here and I’ll be all lonely all vacation,” Willow cried as she talked, waving the letter as she paced the room.
Moving to hold her girlfriend as she cried, Tara whispered, “Actually not all alone. I’ll be here for both.”
Willow’s head snapped up: “What? You’re not going home? Why not? Oh, never mind, forget I asked that. So I can stay with you? And get to see you for days with no one else around? Wow, that’s the best letter ever. Plus which, money, yeah!” She concluded kissing the blonde repeatedly.
Tara laughed as she absorbed the kisses all over her cheeks, lips, and eyelids: “Yeah Great. But you are in big trouble missy!”
Willow pulled back shocked, “What? I mean did you find out about the … uh I mean nothing.”
“Happy Birthday?” Tara inquired, “When?”
Willow looked duly admonished: “Day after Thanksgiving. Big one – eight. Hey, I thought you were all with the snooping in people’s private files. How come you didn’t know it?”
Now it was Tara’s turn to laugh, “I haven’t looked in your file since that first time. I figured anything important you’d tell me. Plus which, not exactly what I’m supposed to do at the administrative job. Oh Goddess. I almost forgot: speaking of the administrative office. Ms Geller asked to see you sometime today during a break. She sounded like it was kind of urgent.” As Willow turned pale, Tara continued, “but she didn’t sound like it was bad or anything.”
Willow grabbed her shoes before kissing her girlfriend and heading out the door: “Hey, I’ve got an hour before calculus. I’ll get a shower and go see what she needs. See you before dinner?”
“Always.”
---
Willow literally jumped up from her desk chair as she heard the knock, opening the knock and pulling Tara into the room while kissing her passionately. Tara responded before pulling back, “Hey baby, not that don’t appreciate it but what’s up? Too many mochas?”
“Nope but I’ve got good news and other good news. Well, ok, good news for me but not for everyone, but for you and me. Yeah!”
Tara smiled, dropping to sit cross-legged on the floor: “Ok, sweetie spill. You have me sufficiently curious now.”
Willow started pacing the room, her excitement too much to sit still: “I went to see Ms Geller and well, long story short: Ms Benson is pregnant right? Well she’s having a hard pregnancy and got put on bed rest. So they need someone to teach the computer lab and asked if I wanted to do it. Apparently they called Synder and the worm actually said that I’d taught Jenny’s classes for the rest of last year, after she… Well, ok. So they asked me to teach it.”
Tara smiled broadly: “That’s great honey. You taught last year? Jenny was a teacher? I didn’t know that. I figured she was a student like y’all. So you said yes? Is that good? Do you like teaching?”
Willow continued her excitement: “Oh Goddess, I love teaching. It’s so interesting and exciting and I learn way more trying to figure out how to explain a concept than I do just doing the thing. I mean it’s like that with your teaching riding right? And I get pretty broad authority on what to teach.”
Smiling back Tara answered, “Yeah. I do love it. I get to introduce more people to working with horses which I love so much. You’ll get to see it in a few weeks when you start class.”
“Hmm. About that. I got to do some negotiating,” Willow explained.
Getting suspicious Tara asked, “And what did you negotiate for sweetie?”
“Well, I just said that my time might be better spent preparing for class and that I was sure that I could be a better teacher with that extra time to prepare,” she smiled her innocent, cute smile at the blonde who reached out a hand to tackle her. Pressing her body down on the smaller girl, Tara smiled, “I understand but I’m going to get you on a horse someday sweetie,” before completely capturing the redhead’s lips with her own.
After a few moments, Willow jumped up: “Hey, that’s not all the good news. Now for the really great news. First, you should repeat after me: ‘Willow Rosenberg is a genius.’”
Tara played along: “Willow Rosenberg is a genius.”
“Now ask me why.”
“Why?”
“Wait a minute, maybe I did this in the wrong order,” Willow sat down on the floor again holding Tara’s hands and looking in her eyes, “Tara, will you go on a date with me?”
Tara laughed, “Of course Willow, I’d love to go on a date with you. Where? When?”
Willow relaxed a little, “Great. Now it’s in order. Here,” she indicated some pages she pulled from her printer. Sitting by the blonde, she pointed to the page, “Look I made us reservations at a Bed & Breakfast outside Fredricksburg. It’s great. It has a fireplace and a claw-foot tub and double bed and front porch to watch the sun set. I made reservations for Wednesday to Saturday around Thanksgiving and my birthday. And on Friday they light up the city’s Christmas lights and they’re supposed to be amazing.”
Tara looked down before answering, “Willow, you know we can’t go there.”
“What? I mean what? What happened to ‘Willow Rosenberg is a genius’ and ‘I’d love to go on a date with you’?”
“Willow, that’s not just a date. That’s a weekend away. And not that I don’t want to spend a weekend with you and in a claw-foot and double bed and all that because believe me, I do. But I can’t let you pay for something like that and we know that I can’t pay for it. Plus, we need to be studying for the SAT the first week of December. Well, maybe you don’t, but I really do sweetie,” Tara pleaded.
Willow took a deep breath as she again lifted Tara’s chin to look in her eyes, “You know I like to look at your beautiful eyes right?” As the blonde nodded, Willow continued, “Ok, how about if I address each objection one at a time and then you can decide ok?” Again met by a nod, Willow explained, “First the studying: so we study while we’re there. No TV, no VCR, none of that so we study and spend time together and read and laugh and whatever. If you want, I’ll make up a schedule, ok so far?”
Tara assented to that part, “Yes, ok.”
“Ok, now the money. Sweetie, I really don’t know how to handle that long term. The sad fact is that I have money and you don’t. I didn’t do anything to get that money but I have it. And the thing is that my mother sent me all this money for me to enjoy the holiday and my birthday and what I want to do is go to this inn for the weekend and have this beautiful romantic and wonderful time. But how can I do that without you? I mean I can’t imagine that there’s anything in my life, any experience, any trip, any movie that would be as good without you there and I want you with me. I’m going to spend the money on something so why not on something that we both enjoy?”
Tara looked at completely love-filled eyes, “Wow. That’s really beautiful. I mean, yeah it’s hard because I don’t have any money but I want you to enjoy your holiday and your birthday so that point is settled. But how will we get there sweetie? It’s like 60 miles to Fredricksburg.”
Willow smiled again, “You will want to continue with the ‘Willow Rosenberg is a genius’ chorus.”
Tickling the redhead, Tara echoed, “Willow Rosenberg is a vixeny genius.”
“I negotiated us the truck.”
“What?” Tara asked.
“Well, when I was negotiating about teaching, I asked if we could use the truck to go away for Thanksgiving weekend and Ms Geller said sure.”
“You’re totally kidding.”
“Nope. Not kidding at all. In fact she said it sounded like a great idea, very romantic,” Willow smiled completely pleased with herself.
Tara paled at the statement, “Oh Goddess. She said that? She knows? I mean not that it’s not ok for people to know about us. I mean I want everyone to know but she knows that we’re going away for the weekend. What will she think about us? I mean what does she think we’re going to do? Oh Goddess.”
If Willow hadn’t seen how upset her girlfriend was, she would have laughed; instead she again looked in her beautiful eyes, “Yes, baby she knows. She thinks it’s great. And whatever she thinks about our going away together, that’s none of our business. We know where we are in our relationship and that’s all that matters.” She concluded kissing the blonde deeply.
As she pulled back, Tara teased, “So I’m going to be a kept woman huh?”
Willow responded in kind, “oh yeah, I’m planning to keep you for a long time. Let me show you some of what I want to do during that time,” she teased, pushing the blond to the floor and pressing their bodies together.
