Note to all Kittens reading ... This is an entirely carefree fanfiction. I promise that there will be absolutely no problems with Amy, I am absolutely fed up of writing problem fics. I'm so very sorry to get you all worked up - do you forgive me? :pray Bad Cath!! Very bad kitten!! Thank you all so much for posting feedback to my chapters by the by, it takes time and patience especially if you've got a slow computer like me and I would like to say that I am very happy that you're taking the time to post, it means a lot to me, so thank you. Oh, and also to LostSoul thank you for reminding me to post in the Update Thread... my sister Miss1234Kitty keeps on scolding me on that... I may need a scolding from Piper :wink Do you forgive me? I'm being a very bad girl today. Damn. *timidly reaches for the chocolate truffle bon bons Piper holds out, then takes hand back* No, bad me. I deserve to be - hmm... scolded?! Okay, here's an update specially for you guys.

Tara: No, I-I understand. You have to be with the person you l-love.

4evaWill - You're more than welcome. Just don't take my fan fic away. I've become terribly addicted to the fan fic on this board. I hardly watch t.v. anymore. :grin

You can all thank Sharon for my downward spiral into the land of fan fic. LOL.

I'll be honest, I was a little dubious when 'someone' was mentioned, but I'm still looking forward to the next part very much. I like the image of Willow and Tara skiing!

re: Halfway Around the World - Chapter 4 Update!

Postby Twisted Minstrel » Wed Nov 13, 2002 3:01 pm

A big thanks to Piper who kindly agreed to post the chapter for me as my

computer isn't working. This chapter's for you, Piper!

CHAPTER 4 - Lodge 17

Tara pushed open the door to their lodge as Willow dragged her case up the

flight of wooden steps leading to the porch. Awe-struck, Tara stared around

at their pretty vacation home. The whole small apartment was wooden, the

floors partly covered with thick, soft rugs and photographs of "Swiss Deluxe

Holiday Homes" hung on the walls. In the lounge, several mismatched chairs

sat around the empty grate of a fireplace, and seeing the box of matches on

the mantelpiece, Willow left her case to be tripped over by the busboy later

and dived to warm up the chilly room.

"Isn't it gorgeous?" Tara gushed as the lounge was lit up with the flickering

fire, immediately giving in a homey feel. She pulled open a door closest to

the porch to discover the bedroom - similar in walls and flooring to the

lounge, the one window closed behind shutters, and a double bed sat right in

the middle of the room looking incredibly warm and inviting with the thick

patch quilt. A wall-length closet was set at the far end of the room,

opposite the door and bed.

"Ooh, and look at the bathroom!" Willow added with a smile, pulling Tara out

of the bedroom with her arms wrapped around the blonde's waist. "A tub built

for two."

Tara rubbed her numb limbs. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

The redhead's mischievous glance towards the bathroom told all.

An hour later, the window in the lavatory room was unable to be seen into -

because it was steamed up, obviously, but also because the shutters had been

closed when Willow had strolled in front of it to look out, completely

forgetting that she was naked, and waved quite cheerfully at a new arrival

passing by. Tara, in hysterics, had pulled Willow down before the young

ex-Wiccan could do anything else stupid.

"Is the water cold?" Willow asked. She was lying in Tara's arms, nuzzling her

neck.

"I don't know." Tara shivered, giving them both the answer. "Yes."

With her foot, Willow flipped the hot water tap upwards and dipped her feet

underneath her so she wouldn't scald. "There. Now we'll never have to get out

again." She giggled and tugged at Tara's wet strands. "This is even better

than I imagined." Willow turned her head so she could gaze into Tara's eyes

and saw that already the Swiss weather was doing wonders for them. Tara's

face was flushed, her eyes sparkling more than usual and a wide grin

spreading from ear to ear. "And I'm guessing you feel the same way, judging

from your expression." Willow kissed Tara lightly on the lips.

"We've only been here three hours and already I'm having a blast." Tara

replied, wrapping her arms around Willow's shoulders. "The wonderful lodge,

the friendly atmosphere…"

"Skiing." Willow added hastily. "Never forget skiing."

"Um, about that…" Tara grinned sheepishly, "I've never been skiing in my

life. Daddy - he only ever took Beth and Donny to the Alps. I stayed home

with Grams." A flicker of her hurt past showed in Tara's eyes but quickly

disappeared as Willow pressed her lips harder against Tara's.

"Don't worry, sweetie, neither have I." Willow laughed. "We can look stupid

together, yea?"

"Agreed." Tara joined in her girlfriend's giggling.

I'm looking forward to writing them! :wink The problem with my computer is that it won't allow me to post long replies, which is incredibly annoying. Okay, so I got bored and decided to write it tonight. Oh, I almost forgot...Woohoo and yay! My computer is back to normal, thank goodness *breathes a sigh of relief*, I am now able to post updates again. Here’s what you’ve all been looking forwards to… the skiing lessons. But they're not over yet... *evil grin*

CHAPTER 5 – Skiing Lessons

Tara glanced from Willow to their handsome ski instructor, Dave Perry. When he had seen the two women that had booked for the evening session, his jaw had immediately dropped. Willow, worried that Tara would be hit on again, immediately introduced them as “I’m Willow Rosenberg and this is my girlfriend Tara Maclay. We’re together.” The blonde Wicca had turned bright red and fiddled with the laces on her ski boots.

“I’ll just check you’ve got your skis on properly.” Dave bent down and adjusted Willow’s boots, turning her foot so that she toppled over onto the snow in a flurry of white dust. “Oops. Sorry.”

Willow peered up at them both, her mouth full of snow. Spitting it out, she struggled to her feet with Tara’s help and tottered around the small clearing, still getting used to this new experience. “I’m okay.” She said as she tripped over a branch and landed facedown in a muddier patch of snow. Tara giggled and managed to yank the redhead up again. “Right. I’m all ready.” Willow tucked strands of her short hair underneath her green hat and grinned at Tara, who was wearing an identical hat, scarf and gloves set only in blue.

“We’ll not be using the ski sticks yet, as neither of you have done skiing before.” Dave led them over to a miniscule, obstacle-free slope just opposite the main lodge. “Who wants to go first?”

Willow swallowed. “Seeing as I can’t even stand still without falling over, I think it should be Tara.”

“No. You need more practice.” Tara replied obstinately, looking positively petrified at the thought of having Dave’s eyes on her as she made a fool out of herself.

“Well, yes, but you need to show me how it’s done.” Willow grinned.

“Nuh-uh. I don’t know how it’s done.”

Dave folded his arms and waited impatiently as the couple argued good-naturedly amongst themselves. “Hows about I go first?” He suggested at last, balancing on the edge of the slope and tilting his skis downwards.

“Good idea.” Willow and Tara chorused, exchanging anxious glances. With incredible speed and skill, Dave was at the bottom in no more than ten seconds.

“Who now?”

“Will.”

“Tara.”

“Willow, why don’t you?” Dave smothered a laugh as Tara cheekily stuck her tongue out at her girlfriend. “Just do as I did. It’s simple.”

Willow placed her shaking legs several millimetres off the edge of the slope. Dave pulled off his skis and trudged up the snow in his boots, grasped her around the waist and pushed her forwards. “Now, lean forwards, hold your arms at waist level to balance yourself… and go!” He pushed Willow, taking her off guard. With a shriek the redhead plummeted down the slope, surprisingly staying on her feet, but failed to stop at the bottom. “Willow! Stop!” Dave yelped as she fumbled to grab hold of the passing trees. There was a crash, a yelp and a…

“I’m okay.”

Tara burst into inelegant laughter. “Let me try! Let me try!”

Dave didn’t look too convinced, to say the least. To his surprise, she slid easily off the edge of the slope and glided down the tiny bank, whooping loudly and sticking her tongue out at a mud and snow-covered Willow traipsing back up, pulling pieces of twig out of her jacket. “Well. That was a good start, Tara.” Dave praised her as she joined him and Willow at the top. He turned to the redhead, who was looking very peeved off. “Um, Willow… I suggest you… um… get a little more practice.”

Tara’s giggles echoed around the clearing. “I’m sorry, baby.” She said to Willow as Dave wandered off in search of new skis to replace Willow’s broken ones. “But you should have seen your face!”

Willow couldn’t help but grin. “I was completely and utterly awful at it, wasn’t I?” She agreed.

“Yeah… that’s a little understated, my dear.” Tara wrapped her hands around Willow’s neck. “Never mind. I’ll teach you when I become a ski instructor tomorrow and you’re still trying to figure out what ski goes on what foot.”

Willow tried to scowl but ended up beaming. “Very funny, Tare-bear.”

“I know!”

Tara presented Willow with a reassuring kiss.

Tara: No, I-I understand. You have to be with the person you l-love.

Willow: I am.
