Part 39
"Way to bring the kids back over on time, Giles," Buffy said pulling Katey down onto her lap and tickling her relentlessly, "the first half is almost over."
"You're cheating," Katey said breathlessly as she tried to wriggle away, "slayer strength is no fair."
"Yes, well, rounding up seven children under the age of ten is not an easy task," Giles said collapsing into the empty lawn chair next to Joyce.
"Well, I hope it wasn't any sort of... uh... wait a minute," Willow said looking around. Soleil was on her lap, Tara was holding Rhiannon, Rupert was sitting with Michael and there was another boy who must have been around seven sitting on the blanket next to Tara. Something didn't add up. "Uh, Giles, we sent you three children, and you brought us back four."
"No, Mom, I brought him back," Rupert interrupted, "he's my new best friend."
"Yeah, Mommy, that's Mitchell," Soleil said in her best little, 'I know something you don't know' voice.
"How silly of me, I should have known that," Willow said not questioning the fact that Mitchell was at least a year younger than Rupert, and she had never seen this boy before, but if Rupert said he was his new best friend, then as far as she was concerned, he was his new best friend. "Hi, Mitchell," she smiled, "I'm Rupert's mom, Willow."
"And that's my Momma," Rupert said pointing to Tara, eager to make the introduction.
"Hi," the young boy said shyly. "You have two Mommies?" He questioned.
"Yep," Rupert said.
"Where's your Daddy?" Mitchell asked.
"I don't have a Daddy, just two Mommies," Rupert said.
"And you never had a Daddy?"
"Nope," Rupert said, then after thinking for a minute he turned to his Mommy, "Is that weird?"
"Does it feel weird to you?" She asked gently.
"No," Rupert smiled.
"Then it's not weird," Willow said as she wrapped him up in a bear hug, "all families are different, you know that."
"Having two Mommies isn't weird," Rupert said to Mitchell just to clarify it.
"Do your parents know you're over here, Sweetie?" Tara asked, and Mitchell nodded yes.
"Momma, we're hungry, can we have a snack?" Rupert asked.
"Sure, honey there's fruit in the cooler," Tara said taking her eyes off the field to make sure all the boys grabbed was a piece of fruit. She had baked some cookies for Summer's team to have after the game, and put them in the cooler to keep them from melting, or being eaten by Xander. While she had her eyes on Rupert, Mitchell, and Michael, everyone jumped up and started cheering, especially Soleil who went running up and down the length of her family, hooting and hollering, beaming with pride for her big sister.
"What happened?" Tara asked her wife when she had settled back down.
"Summer scored again," Willow said excitedly.
"I've missed both goals today," Tara sighed dejectedly.
"Oh, Baby, it's okay," Willow said patting Tara's knee, "there's a whole other half, I'm sure she'll score some more goals, and besides Xander's recording it for us."
"I know, but I like to see all of them when they actually happen, not just on replay," Tara said. Willow smiled at the cuteness of her wife. "Oh, hey, where did you put Summer's gatorade? She needs it now," Tara said as the whistle blew signaling the end of the half.
"Right here," Willow said holding up the bottle, "I didn't want to put it in the cooler and have her get cramps after drinking it."
"Good call," Tara smiled as she looked around for Soleil, finally spotting her over with Buffy and Katey. "Soleil, Sweetie, would you run this over to Summer please," Tara said taking the bottle from Willow, and handing it to Soleil.
"Will you time me, Mommy?" Soleil asked excitedly.
"Sure," Willow said looking at her watch, "Ready...Set...Go!"
"Why do you do that?" Tara smiled as Soleil took off towards Summer's team.
"What? Time her?"
"Yes," Tara said, "You know she's going to get distracted between here and there, and then it's not really a valid time."
"I know that, but I don't think she cares about the time anyway. I think she just likes the 'ready, set, go,' part,'" Willow said smiling.
"Excuse me. Do any of you happen to know where I can find the parents of Summer Rosenberg-Maclay?" A man asked approaching the group.
"We're her parents," Willow said indicating herself and Tara, "Is there a problem?"
"No problem at all," the man smiled, "I was wondering if I could have a moment of your time."
Willow looked at Tara for confirmation before answering, "Ah, sure." She and Tara stood up.
"Could you...?" Tara asked Joyce, motioning to the kids.
"No problem," Joyce said scooping Rhiannon up, as Tara and Willow followed the man away from the crowd.
"My name is Greg Jones," he said handing them a business card, "I work for the Olympic Development Program. I'm here to offer your daughter a chance to play for us."
"I'm not familiar with the Olympic Development Program," Tara said.
"Basically, we have teams in every region of the country consisting of the most talented girls in the area, and we train them for national competition. I'm not going to lie to you, most of the girls in the program won't make it onto a national team, but it's a very good opportunity to train with the best, and at the very least it will provide Summer with numerous scholarship opportunities when it's time for college."
"When does all the take place?" Willow asked, "I mean will she have to move away, and miss school?"
"No, at her age everything happens in the summer and most of the games will be day trips. There may be a couple of games that will be over night, or for the weekend, but she won't miss any school," he explained. "Think it over, talk to Summer about it, and give me a call if you have any further questions, or if you've made your decision. Good day."
"Our daughter could go to the Olympics," Willow said looking at Tara.
"Weird," Tara said as she and Willow walked back over to their friends.
"Mommy, you messed up my time," Soleil scolded when they got back.
"I'm sorry Baby," Willow said sitting back down. "I'll time you at home, okay?"
"Okay," Soleil said smiling.
"Where's Rhiannon and Anya?" Tara asked.
"She had an accident," Xander said.
"Isn't Anya a little old to be having accidents," Willow said, getting a laugh from Buffy and Soleil, but a disapproving glance from Tara, " It was just a joke," she said.
"When I was three and a half, I didn't have accidents anymore," Soleil said proudly.
"Everyone's different," Tara said, "It takes some people longer to develop, and mature," Tara said looking at Willow as she said mature.
"I won't tease her," Soleil said. "Uh, Momma, I have to go potty."
"Us too," Rupert said, referring to himself, Michael, and Mitchell.
"Okay, let's go," Tara sighed once more as she stood up, knowing she would miss some more of her daughter's game.
"I can take them, Baby," Willow offered standing as well.
"No, it's okay, I have to go anyway," Tara smiled.
"Uh, me too," Willow admitted smiling.
"Oh, just go already, before you miss the entire game," Buffy blurted out.
"Geez, Buff, relax," Willow chuckled as she and Tara walked away with the kids. The way Soleil was dancing and shifting her hips, it was a good thing the bathroom wasn't that far from the field.
"Hi, aunt Anya," Soleil shouted as she ran past her and into the bathroom.
"Ah ha! Almost had an accident didn't you," Anya said to her teasingly.
"It would appear so," Tara said giggling at Soleil's mad dash.
"See little munchkin, accidents are a normal part of growing up," Anya reassured Rhiannon.
"Yes, accidents are perfectly okay," Tara said giving Rhiannon a reassuring hug.
"Mommy's gonna have one if I don't go soon," Willow said kissing Rhiannon quickly and rushing into an empty stall, much to the amusement of Rhiannon.
"Anya... Rupert, Michael and Mitchell are in the boys bathroom, can you take them back with you?" Tara asked.
"Sure, we're done here, right Rhiannon," Anya said laughing as the little girl nodded enthusiastically. She gave Tara a hug before walking back over to Anya.
"Wait for me," Soleil said as she came bounding out of the bathroom stall trying to fasten the button on her jeans.
"Okay, calm down, we'll wait," Anya said as Soleil hopped around the bathroom trying frantically to button her pants.
"Here," Tara said kneeling and fastening it quickly.
"Thanks Momma, you're good at that," Soleil said, "You must practice a lot."
"Not a word," Willow said to Anya from inside the stall before the former demon had a chance to open her mouth. Tara smiled, shaking her head and entering the stall that Soleil had just vacated.
"Alright, alright," Anya said taking the girls by the hand, "Come on let's go get the boys and head back to the game, we don't want to miss anything," Anya said hurrying from the bathroom.
"Well, it seems like we're all alone," Willow said leaning against the wall, as Tara exited the bathroom stall and moved to the sink to wash her hands. "What ever shall we do?" Willow asked, trapping Tara by the sink, and pressing her body into her wife's back.
"Will, I don't want to miss the game," Tara said trying to step away from her wife.
"I can be quick," Willow said slipping her arm around Tara's waist, turning her around, and pulling her close as she began placing gentle kisses over her wife's neck.
"Darling, can't it wait until tonight?" Tara said doing her best to resist the temptation in front of her, but with Willow kissing her neck like that her resolve was fading quickly.
"No," Willow said pouting, "I need you now."
"Not here, Will, someone could come in," Tara reasoned as Willow's hands ventured under her shirt.
"Fine," Willow said dragging Tara into the handicapped stall and locking the door. "Better?" She asked smiling at her flustered wife.
"You're serious," Tara said, "We're gonna have sex in a bathroom stall, we haven't done this in months."
"All the more reason to," Willow said working her hands back under Tara's shirt and lavishing further down her neck with kisses.
"I know, but the game, Oh God Will, that feels so good," Tara said tilting her head to give Willow better access to her neck.
"Do you want me to stop?" Willow asked playfully.
"No," Tara said losing herself to the sensation, "I mean yes, yes, I want you to stop. The game."
"But I like this much better, and the game is already in the bag, we're gonna win," Willow said slipping one hand to Tara's breast, and the other down into her shorts, feeling Tara's wetness through her panties. "Are you sure you want me to stop?" Willow asked as she applied some pressure to Tara's already moist center.
"I...Ohhhh," Tara moaned at the contact.
"Okay," Willow said removing her hands and backing away.
"What?" Tara asked confused.
"The game, remember, come on, we're gonna miss it," Willow said opening the stall door. Tara stood there watching her wife walk away before joining her, still not comprehending what had just happened.
"Is the game almost over?" Rupert asked when his mother's returned from the bathroom, "Mitchell and me are bored."
"It's Mitchell and I," Willow said gently correcting her son, "and yes the game is almost over. Only 15 more minutes."
"Sweetie, if Mitchell is bored, don't be bossy, let him go back with his parents," Tara interjected. They weren't exactly sure how it happened, but Rupert was quite a bossy and forceful child. They thought he would grow out of it, but he was eight now and didn't show any signs that he was changing.
"I'm not bored. I want to stay," Mitchell said.
"Okay," Tara said smiling at the little boy.
"Can Mitchell spend the night?" Rupert asked.
"We need to ask Mitchell's parents," Willow said.
"They don't care," Mitchell said.
"Just the same, we need to ask them, and meet them first. Us parents are strange that way," Willow smiled gently.
"They went home already," Mitchell said.
"Your parents went home and left you here alone?" Willow asked.
"No, they left me here with you," Mitchell said.
Tara cast a questioning glance at Willow. Something about the situation didn't seem right.
"Sweetie, do you know your telephone number?" Tara asked.
"No."
"Do you know your address?" Tara asked.
"No," Mitchell said.
"Okay, well why don't you guys go play right over there where we can see you until the game ends," Tara said.
"Really? We don't have to sit and watch the game?" Rupert asked excitedly.
"Really," Tara said smiling.
"I'm coming too," Soleil said jumping up and following the boys.
"What are you thinking?" Willow whispered in Tara's ear, knowing by the look on her face that something was running through her brain. Willow wondered if it was the same thing that was running through hers.
Tara whispered back, "I think he's been abandoned."
