The missing scenes from Where the Wild Things Are

By Sabrina Luv a.k.a. Cherry Avenger

Giles, Xander, and Anya had departed to learn what they could from Genevieve Holt. That left Tara and Willow to research a possible solution for rescuing Buffy and Riley. Sitting at a table in the UCS library, Willow tried focusing on the words of the book in front of her. Her eyes kept wandering to the young Wiccan. Tara sat at another table piled high with stacks of books. A few strands of hair fell forward as she read one of the thick tomes.

Willow’s hand reached towards her subconsciously wanting to push back the hair. Her mind flashed back to the look of disgust on the blonde’s face when Willow rubbed Tara’s knee. Her eyes sought the book, willing the fear away. No more rejection, I couldn’t take it again. Her friends had tried so hard to console her, and she loved them more for the attempts, but she still felt empty. When Oz left, Willow felt as if her heart was ripped from her chest. Much like the way the Gentlemen took their victims lives when they came to Sunnydale.

One good thing had come out of that horrible ordeal: Tara. It was their clasped hands that generated the power needed to move the vending machine. After that, they spent every free moment with each other: casting spells, talking, and generally enjoying the other’s company. Without the shy blonde, Willow may not have realized Buffy was not the real Buffy in time to save her best friend. The journey to the netherealms was tricky.

If it wasn’t for Tara… The thought of that interesting experience caused to Willow look at her once more. She found herself gazing at Tara more and more in the recent weeks. Willow would just sit and stare at Tara as she talked about some spell she had found and wanted to try. In moments like those, Tara wasn’t the shy stuttering girl, but a bright confident woman. Willow would sometimes close her eyes to hear the vibrant voice explain a certain passage of a book. A slight shiver went through Willow. Whoa girly, not so sure what you have, but you got it bad.

Tara glanced sideways when she sensed Willow watching her. She saw the play of emotions across the red head’s face. One moment, she was smiling. The next, she looked like she was about to cry. The same look when I pulled away from her. Tara shuddered inwardly at the hurt she must have caused her friend. She hadn’t meant to say those harsh words or back up the way she did.

She had no control as she yelled, “Don’t touch me! That’s disgusting!” She was compelled by some malevolent entity to get as far from the other girl as possible. She hid in the first empty room she could find and cried softly. When she had control of herself again, she wanted to find Willow so they could leave. Then she would try to make it up to the other girl. She would take her horseback riding like she had suggested earlier that evening.

Then a look that Tara didn’t know the meaning of passed over Willow’s face. She watched the Wiccan’s body shake slightly, and Willow’s lips formed a small smirk. Don’t go there, Tara. Willow had gone back to her research, so Tara made her eyes concentrate on the symbols. However, her mind was elsewhere. Back to the first moment Tara laid eyes upon Willow. The red head had shyly approached and asked if this was the Wicca group she had heard about. She smiled at the new addition. Maybe she will be real, she though then, instead of these stuck up snobs.

With each passing week, she saw the disappointment and frustration build in the red head as the group continued to talk about bake sales. The blonde’s annoyance grew as well, but Willow became the only reason she remained. She wanted to see the Wiccan. She could sense the power and the gentleness behind those intoxicating eyes. She would wait for the right moment to approach her. That time was chosen for her when the city went silent. Tara found a spell, but she needed another’s help. When she and Willow were chased into the laundry room, she impulsively clasped hands with Willow to provide her with an energy boost. The gaze that passed between them after they moved the machine was electric. She could have drowned in those soulful eyes.

“That’s it!” exclaimed Willow. Tara jumped slightly. She looked up as the red head leapt from her seat bringing the book over to the blonde. “It’s way simple. We just have a seance thingy with a few modifications.” She placed the book on top of Tara’s and leaned slightly over her indicating the passage, her hand on the blonde’s shoulder.

Tara found breathing extremely difficult, especially with the lavender scent of Willow’s shampoo invading her senses. She turned her head slightly to look into Willow’s eyes, and Tara saw the excitement there as the Wiccan talked incessantly. She couldn’t help but smile. “You’re wonderful,” she said simply. Willow stopped mid-babble. They gazed at each other for a moment. Each had so much to say, but neither wanted to break the moment.

Unfortunately, they didn’t have a choice. Xander called out to them as he rounded a corner, followed by Giles and Anya. “We have to hurry,” stated Giles.

***********************************************************

“So all the raging hormones is what set off the poltergeist?” Willow asked Giles as they all rushed across campus to her dorm room.

The ex Watcher led the way as he tried to bring Willow and Tara up to speed. “Yes. The passion between Buffy and Riley woke the hibernating spirit. Then the ‘raging hormones’, as you put it, and the continuing ardor fed the creature until it’s power turned bad. Lustful thoughts and acts are what is keeping it alive. We have to defeat it. Otherwise it wont stop until it drains them of their energy.”

Willow glanced at Tara who followed wordlessly. Lustful thoughts? Is that why she… Her train of thought stopped when they reached Stevenson Hall. They entered the room she shared with Buffy. Xander went straight for the weapons as Tara and Giles set up a table. Willow grabbed the candle and the plan commenced.

***********************************************************

Tara helped Willow pick up the remainder of the table. Meanwhile Giles paced the room pondering their next move. “I’m going back there. Xander and Anya are sure to need help,” he said as he fished out another ax from the weapons chest. “You both finish cleaning. Then try the spell again. That may provide a few seconds delay at a crucial moment.” They glanced at each other and nodded back. He left drawing stares from the few students remaining in the halls.

They finished the clean up silently, each lost in her thoughts. When Willow had come back from the dumpster, Tara had lit candles all over the room. “I did a little p..pro..tection spell,” Tara stuttered nervously, answering Willow’s questioning look.

The shy blonde sat with her back against Willow’s bed. Willow moved to sit facing her, “I guess we’d better try again.” They clasped hands and began the ritual over. They kept repeating over and over the words. Yet nothing happened. “That could be a good thing. Xander could have freed Buffy and Riley and everything is happy again,” Willow stated hopefully. “Or the ghost thingy could be too busy draining them dry.”

The other Wiccan shrugged her shoulders. At least they will die happy and satisfied. Okay…nevermind. She looked down at her hands and realized they were still holding the other girl’s. Willow didn’t look like she was going to pull away anytime soon, and Tara definitely didn’t mind holding onto her a while longer. Tara closed her eyes, enjoying the soft skin, and let her head fall back a little. It had been a long night.

Willow stared at the flame of one of the candles. She was a little worried about her friends, but knew they could handle it. The slight movement of Tara caused the red head to break from her reverie. Tara looked so peaceful as she drowsed. Willow noticed how the candlelight played off the highlights in the blonde’s hair. She studied the girl’s features, noting many things: the long eyelashes, the color of her skin, the small smile across supple lips, the slight rising and falling of her ample chest. Willow’s breathing increased slightly. Her eyes continued their slow examination. How the shirt revealed a flat stomach, and their entwined hands in her lap. Willow hadn’t realized they were still holding hands, but she didn’t want to pull away. Her thumb rubbed across smooth skin.

This felt so right to Willow. She didn’t find it at all disgusting, and apparently neither did Tara. Tara’s lips parted a little, and Willow had the sudden urge to kiss her. Is she asleep? Would she notice? Do I want her awake? Would she back away again? Willow’s mind raced with all the possible scenarios, but she knew that she had to act somehow. What had Giles said? Lustful thoughts are what brought that thing to life. So it made Tara act that way because of her thoughts. Which means… Willow’s eyes widened in hope. “Tara,” she called softly.

Tara opened her eyes slowly. They were met with a beautiful picture of Willow. Candlelight really suited her. Then she noticed the look she had seen on the Wiccan’s face in the library earlier. The mysterious smirk played upon her lips too. “Yes, Willow,” she answered unsure. The next thing Tara knew were the lips pressed against hers passionately. Tara lost all coherent thought as she kissed Willow back with the same passion.

Willow pulled back an inch, breaking the kiss. Both were breathing hard. Looking into the blonde’s eyes, she whispered, “I know you think about me. I just wanted you to know that I never stop thinking about you.” Tara’s heart melted and was reshaped by Willow’s words. The Wiccan embraced the red head.

“Thoughts of you invade my mind every minute of every day,” she whispered into her ear. Tara kissed her earlobe, her neck, and her cheek. Tara worked her way along her jaw line until her lips were once more pressed against Willow’s.

The End

Wow!

I sincerely hope you are inspired by your stay at the Kitten, Cherry Avenger. I found myself very annoyed by the brevity of this fic - which is actually a high compliment. More writing in this vein is needed. Such a delicate and deft tough you have with these shy and unsure girls. Season 4 has always been my favorite, and I would not complain if you saw your way to write about how Willow and Tara finally find each other. If this is any indication, the results will be sweet, heartbreaking and ultimately inspiring.

May your muse encourage you to greater heights.

Researching

By Sabrina Luv a.k.a. Cherry Avenger

Disclaimers: the creations of Joss aren’t my own, though I wish they were. I do this only for the love of the characters and the praise of others.

Spoilers: buffy vs. dracula Hopefully you do know who Tara is and what her relationship to Willow is.

A special note: I was cleaning out my files when I found this little story. Had totally forgotten about it. just wanted to let you people know that it was written a couple days after the season premiere aired.

Feedback: Always welcomed, cherryavenger@hotmail.com

The door to Willow’s room shut slowly. “I still can’t believe you thought Dracula was sexy,” complained Tara as she sat on the edge of the bed.

Willow looked stunned. “I don’t think…why are you bringing this up again?” She walked to her dresser where she began lighting a few candles and some incense.

“And what was the deal with Giles? Why were you so frantic to mention his name?” Tara glanced up at her girlfriend, slight doubt in her eyes.

Willow had that deer caught in the headlights face. “Um…well, I’m not really supposed to talk about it.”

“Oh,” replied a dejected blonde. “Secret Scooby stuff…I understand. I just figured that since I always go to the meetings, that I was one, too.” Her hands had become quite interesting as they sat in her lap.

The redhead couldn’t stand to see her love upset. She sat next to her on the bed. “Look…this is supposed to stay a secret. Since I know you are good with secrets and stuff, it shouldn’t be a problem that I tell you.” Willow missed the uncomfortable expression flicker across Tara’s face. “Giles says he is going back to England. He says he isn’t Buffy’s Watcher anymore, and that we don’t need his help, but I think he’s wrong. There are plenty of times that I need to be watched. Well, not all the time, like when we’re in the shower. I definitely don’t want to be watched then…” Tara placed a finger on Willow’s lips with a smirk on her own.

“You can trust me to keep it a secret,” said Tara.

“I always trust you,” stated Willow as she looked deep into her love’s eyes.

Tara blushed and averted her gaze. Some of her shyness would still creep in, but she had gained a better hold on it since meeting Willow. She got up off the bed, and wandered over to the dresser. She played with the frame that held a picture of her and Willow taken at an “After-Finals” party at Buffy’s. The shot had Willow with her arms wrapped the blonde as Tara looked back at her, smiles on both their faces. She turned to face the redhead. “I’m sorry…for being jealous about Dracula.”

Willow got up and embraced her. “I could never think anyone is more sexy than you are.” They kissed for a long while as the passion slowly built.

Tara broke the kiss reluctantly. “Shouldn’t you start on the research?”

The redhead licked her lips. “I would rather spend some quality time with my sexy girlfriend. The research can come later, after we do.” She wiggled her eyebrows. “Say it for me, Tara,” she asked.

The crimson color really did suit the blond. “Willow!”

Leaning in close she whispered huskily, “Please. Just say it once for me.” Her eyes begged silently.

Tara could deny her nothing. “Sophomore level psychology,” she said in her sultriest voice.

Willow felt a wave of heat race through her body. “It is definitely getting too hot in here for these clothes.” She kissed Tara with all the love and passion in her being as they maneuvered back to the bed.

Wrote this after "The Body" aired. The line about thin walls stuck out in my mind.

Scene - Willow’s dorm room. Our 2 fave Wiccas snuggled against one another asleep.

Suddenly (fairly muffled) there’s moaning.

Willow’s eyes shoot open.

(muffled) Oh God!

Tara - (sleepily) not again.

Willow - Yeah

Tara - Too thin walls.

Willow - Yeah

Tara - If we can hear them (a beat) does that mean they can hear us?

Willow - Yeah…Oh!

Major blushing happening.

More muffle moaning.

Tara - Want to give them a run for their money?

Willow - Oh Yeah!

Fade to black.

Spoiler Warning: Pretty much the thoughts of characters during new moon rising. Hopefully it isn’t too cliché to write this.

Somewhere there's speaking

It's already coming in

Oh and it's rising at the back of your mind

You never could get it

Unless you were fed it

Now you're here and you don't know why

Willow stood thunderstruck as Oz asked if he could see that night. No coherent thought could make it through her synapses. She barely managed an agreement. When he shut the door behind him, she couldn’t function normally. No answer emerged from her mouth as Buffy tried to comfort her. It wasn’t until Tara attempted to rush off with some excuse of a study group that Willow regained control of herself. She wanted to reach out to the girl and assure her that nothing had changed between them. Yet she held back for she herself wasn’t sure that all was well.

But under skinned knees and the skid marks

Past the places where you used to learn

You howl and listen

Listen and wait for the

Echoes of angels who won't return

Tara felt her world crumbling as she ran all the way back to campus. She held her tears in check until she was safely back in her room. Once there she threw herself upon her bed and wept. Wept for the happiness she believed gone forever. She knew that one day he would make his return. She knew that was Willow’s greatest wish, and the blonde had accepted that her time with her would be short. Yet with all things unexpected, she was not ready to let go. Tara wanted to claim the red head as her own, but understood her heart belonged to Oz. Though it would rip her own heart asunder, Tara would let her love find the happiness and joy that seemed to elude Tara forever.

He's everything you want

He's everything you need

He's everything inside of you

That you wish you could be

He says all the right things

At exactly the right time

But he means nothing to you

And you don't know why

Tara held Willow as she cried. Yet the tears that dropped from her eyes were not for the reasons that Tara believed. She thought that Oz meant everything to Willow. He is what she needed in love. She figured the Wiccan felt guilty for picking him. Yet this wasn’t the cause of the red head’s pain. Of course she was upset that she had caused the blonde distress, but that wasn’t it. Willow realized that she had long ago been over Oz. She knew that what she felt for him for so long had faded into just a memory. It had taken her a while, but it was over. There was no way they could ever go back. Willow accepted this. She cried for the joy she felt whenever she was with Tara. Only then was she truly happy. Tears were shed for the end of one life and the beginning of another. She wasn’t sure how yet, but she would definitely make it up to the blonde.

You're waiting for someone

To put you together

You're waiting for someone to push you away

There's always another wound to discover

There's always something more you wish he'd say

As she sat in the library, Willow allowed herself one last time to really remember her life with Oz. However, memories of his touch kept morphing into fantasies of Tara’s elegant fingers on her skin. She had planned to meet up with him for dinner. There she would tell him there was no chance. He had lost the opportunity the second he walked out that door. She would finally say all the things that had bottled up inside of her since that moment. She had found someone who cared for her and would never hurt her the way he had done. Tara had healed her soul of the damage he had cause.

But you'll just sit tight

And watch it unwind

It's only what you're asking for

And you'll be just fine

With all of your time

It's only what you're waiting for

Tara would shed no more tears. She had to be strong. She would put Willow’s happiness over her own. Tara walked to her class with a determination she had never felt. When she heard Willow’s name being called, she couldn’t help but look for the red head. Instead she found Oz gazing at her in an odd fashion. For the first time, she really looked at him. He had a bright aura with a little bit of darkness streaking throughout. He emitted a calm that was comforting. Under other circumstances, they could have been friends. Unfortunately the friendly conversation took a turn for the worse. Tara ran for all she was worth.

Out of the island

Into the highway

Past the places where you might have turned

You never did notice

But you still hide away

The anger of angels who won't return

Oz wept as he drove out of Sunnydale once more. He had lost Willow forever, despite the effort he put forth to become what she needed. He had learned to control the wolf. Yet when the real test came, he failed miserably. What he wanted most, he could never have again.

I am everything you want

I am everything you need

I am everything inside of you

That you wish you could be

I say all the right things

At exactly the right time

But I mean nothing to you and I don't know why

And I don't know why

Why

I don't know

Tara sat alone in her room. The darkness that ensued after the blackout fit her mood all too well. She couldn’t even bring herself to light a candle. The flame would only remind her of Willow’s red hair. Her ability to light up a room with her smile. The comfy warmth that spread throughout Tara’s being when with her. The sparkle in her eyes when she spoke. All Tara had left were these memories. She savored every single one as she peered out at the moonlight. She thought she knew what was coming when she heard the soft knock. Tara had braced herself for the worst.

They laid on the cozy full bed. Tara slept in Willow’s embrace. She dreamed of the happiness she had received and all that was to come. Willow, still awake, gazed upon the blonde beauty. The moonlight lit her hair in such an awesome way. She looked so vulnerable and sweet when she slept. Willow would do everything in her power to never hurt her again. She felt her heart would burst with her contentment. Tara meant everything to Willow. She lightly kissed the golden tresses, and closed her eyes. With the blonde snuggled up to her, Willow slept peacefully.

Here is the last of my completed fics. Enjoy

First

by Sabrina Luv aka Cherry Avenger

Disclaimers: They aren’t mine. This is only done for my love of the characters, and the praise of others. No money is involved. No real spoilers to mention…

Rated: I guess PG-13 to R nothing really explicit

Feedback also welcomed. cherryavenger@hotmail.com

The full moon cast its light upon the meadow. A slight breeze rustled the leaves, and the only sounds were from the occasional owl. A blanket was laid out in the middle of the grass. Wine cooled in a bucket of ice. A basket was placed next to it, full of hidden goodies. A blonde girl hesitantly walked out from behind the trees. She held a small wooden cross in her hand and looked around for trouble.

“Looking for someone?”, a voice whispered in her ear.

Startled, the blonde whirled around to face the owner of the voice. “Yeah, maybe you can help me,” she asked, with a mischievous glint. “She’s this really beautiful red head with the most amazing eyes. Her name’s Willow. You wouldn’t happen to know where I can find her?”

“Don’t know if I could help you with that. If she’s silly enough to leave you alone, maybe you should just spend your time with me,” the owner whispered huskily, as she enveloped the blonde in her arms.

“I don’t think she would like that very much,” she played along. “You see, she’s a really powerful witch, and she wouldn’t take too kindly to you hitting on me.”

The voice giggled slightly. “Well , then, we just have to…” the voice trailed off as her lips were too busy involved in other activities. After a long passionate kiss, “Now who’s hitting on who?”

“Oh, Willow,” the blonde smacked the girl playfully on the arm. “Enjoying that new power of yours, I see.”

The red head smiled as she pulled away slightly. “I’ve got a surprise for you,” she said. All of a sudden, she disappeared right before the blonde’s eyes. She turned around to find the blanket with the bottle and the basket, along with a nude Willow. “Oh, Tara, my love.”

Tara gazed appreciatively at her lover as she walked over to the little display. “For me? You really shouldn’t…”

“Nonsense,” Willow interrupted. She pulled Tara down to her. “You deserve this and so much more.” She reached over and poured some of the wine into two waiting glasses. Handing one of the glasses to Tara, she elegantly said, “Tara, I love you. Every moment I spend with you is a blessing. I thank all the Gods and Goddesses for bringing you into my life. This first year has been best of my life. You have made it so with every smile, every look, every kiss. You make me so happy. My only wish is that it is the first of many years to come.”

Tara had tears in her eyes as they clinked glasses and sipped. “I love you so much, Willow,” she declared as she leaned in to kiss Willow. Passion began to rise, and Willow felt the need to rid Tara of her clothing. “Um, Will….shouldn’t we…what if….people….vamps…come by?” Tara managed to say in between kisses.

Willow removed the blonde’s shirt and bra. She kissed her way along Tara’s collar bone. “I put…spell….no one….bother us….” Willow pulled away to look into Tara’s eyes. She whispered huskily, “The only one who is going to be coming is you.” Tara pulled their lips together.

As desire and love swept both of them away, Tara’s last thought was that this was one helluva way to spend their first anniversary.

 Post subject: Very rough draft
PostPosted: Wed Feb 18, 2004 4:04 am
I wrote this fairly quickly tonight. It hasn't been beta'd or anything, and I'm not even sure if im fully finished with it, but i wanted feedback, good or bad.

Willow shifted restlessly. Sleep was extremely hard to come by since she gave up Magick. Even after all this time, her limbs would still tremble as she sought a comfortable position. She sighed in frustration as she rolled again onto her back. She looked over to the unoccupied half of the bed. I miss her so much. Willow leaned over to turn on the small clock radio on her nightstand. She hoped focusing on the music would calm her inner turmoil enough for sleep to claim her.

"Here's one from Mandy Moore, folks. Only Hope," the DJ announced as notes of a piano began. Willow brushed her hair back as she turned to lay on her side. Her heart clenched as the first verse played.

There's a song that's inside of my soul

It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again

I'm awake in the infinite cold

But You sing to me over and over and over again

Tara in her green and gold dress...truly a vision to behold. Her crisp gorgeous tone as she sang to me. She sang of what our love meant to her. I hear it so clear like if she were lying next to me. Willow turned her head only to once again find the bed empty. I once told Xander I couldn't sleep without her. That statement is proven over and over each night. Only when sheer exhaustion takes over can I sleep.

So I lay my head back down

And I lift my hands

and pray to be only Yours

I pray to be only Yours

I know now you're my only hope

Sing to me the song of the stars

Of Your galaxy dancing and laughing

and laughing again

When it feels like my dreams are so far

Sing to me of the plans that You have for me over again

Tara loves stargazing. Many nights after patrolling, we would lie in Buffy's backyard staring up at them. One night she had confessed, "I can't wait to have a little girl of our own." She nuzzled my neck and then looked up to the sky. "So I can show her the stars." Tears fell as Willow realized she may have ruined the chance of that happening.

So I lay my head back down

And I lift my hands and pray

To be only yours

I pray to be only yours

I know now you're my only hope

I give You my destiny

I'm giving You all of me

I want Your symphony

Singing in all that I am

At the top of my lungs I'm giving it back

She still holds my heart. She's still my always. I can't even imagine living my life with someone else. I couldn't face the idea of losing her when we argued, so I tried to force my idea of a happy life on her. She was right. We were in a relationship, and that meant everything should have been decided together. I know that now.

So I lay my head back down

And I lift my hands and pray

To be only yours

I pray to be only yours

I pray to be only yours

I know now you're my only hope

Willow got out of bed and knelt on the floor. She clasped her hands together and gazed up. "To any god or goddess listening or to the fates themselves, I ask, no, I beg for your help. Tara is the gentlest, most loving and caring soul on this plane of existance. If anyone deserves happiness, it's her. She is everything to me, and I need to be the best possible Willow for her. I beg for help in this. I want to be what brings her happiness, not sorrow. It would kill me to cause her any more grief. Help me, please. Give me the strentgh to overcome this obstacle. She's my light. My only hope."

I just read them all in one go and I also hope you keep posting cuz I loved 'em *grin* Music can definitely inspire...it's cool how Willow listens to the lyrics and turns to thoughts of Tara...grasping a determination to beat this. Thank you for posting *grin*

TeesEmmy - I hope you didn't get into trouble if you were late for work. Fan fic has also caused me to be running late to many an occasion. Still love me? :luv

pikescoob - I may never know the name of a song or who it is by, but I love music. It does truly inspire.

I had hoped for more feedback. Thank you both for replying. Its means a great deal to me. btw Teesemmy, you better keep updating "A different life"

Love all,

Sabrina

This was lovely. Willow coming to terms with her addition and her betrayal of Tara's trust. She asks for help and guidance. This shows a new maturity to Willow. Other would play the blame-game or ignore the problem entirely, but Tara is too important to Willow. She won't use the easy way out again. Another sign of growth.

So. When are you planning to start writing long fics on Pens full-time?

More than any other time in history, mankind faces a crossroads. One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness. The other, to total extinction. Let us pray we have the wisdom to choose correctly. Woody Allen (1935 - )

Just found these and I really liked 'Researching' for this little jewel
Quote:
The crimson color really did suit the blond. “Willow!”

Leaning in close she whispered huskily, “Please. Just say it once for me.” Her eyes begged silently.

Tara could deny her nothing. “Sophomore level psychology,” she said in her sultriest voice.
