Birthday Bash & Comments

Comments first...

tommo - Yeah, no easy decisions for our girls. Yeah, I think that Tara blaming herself comes from the past. I think it was something that her family would have done to her. Constantly blamed her for everything, and if you tell a child the same thing enough times...they'll believe it.

foreverpiper - Yeah, I liked that line because it was sort of Buffy's little way of letting Liam know that she totally accepted his relationship with Tara and a good joke at the same time.

chronic - Yes...Xander thinks of Buffy as Miss Piggy. that might be another backstory I need to work in somewhere.

And Giles was SOOOO ridiculous in Who Are You, I lost it when he started waving his arms like a lunatic.

molsongrrrl - You like my Liam? I am so glad...I prefer him to the "tv" Spike. Yuck. It's all about being a sensative hardass.

daydreamer - Sneaky Buffy is going to differ...sorta...well, I'll give out a bit of a spoiler...Liam ends up with the really, really stupid distraction....Buffy is going to suck big at trying to be well, less than obvious...fortunately for her, Willow is still a little distracted.

LeatherQueen - Yeah...don't get me wrong...big Xena fan myself and I did like Karl Urban's portrayal of Cupid, but too surfer for my tastes. They kinda over did that with Dite at first, but pulled away from it in the end.

Drakkenfyre - Personally, the way my love life has gone lately, I would be 6 feet under.

Pixie gishmock - Yeah, I figured it's been six YEARS. He had to have picked up something from them by now. Other than a penchant for inappropriate humor.

VampNo12 - The irony of that statement...someone does get caught under Willow's bed....well, almost...you'll see. Liam and Tara...definately my second favorite relationship to write in my fic...obviously. Even Liam realizes...she's an angel. Wait till...oh no....that would be telling...

mollyig - Oh yeah, this is an entire scooby gang effort all the way. We need all the help we can get to get our girls back together.

I just hope Tara doesn't go to apeshit when she finds out that HER FAMILY asked a GOD to help. She seems to have definate divinity issues...

Mix - The three stooges would be better secret agents...

Grimaldi - Scavenger Hunt...I hadn't even thought of that one...

Yeah, the story was just a sweet touch. I wanted to show that EVERYONE is trying to get these two together. The Living, The Dead, The Undead, The Divine....is there anyone NOT rooting for them?

BigMac - Do it? Is that what you would have our girls do? Just do it? No, no, no. There's romance...and candlelight...and magic...and floating...and snuggling...and kissing...and tasting...and sucking...and whispered words...screamed names...and I getting ahead of myself?

------------------------

Ok, so here's my sad story...I would normally get my writing done tonight, but I have babysitting duty so that brother can set up for his son's party tomorrow...then I go to bed early, get up early and go to work, come home and go to birthday party, then go drinking with friends until the wee hours of the morning...

Wait, I'm sure I'll remember the point of this in a minute...

Oh yeah...UPDATE...will unfortunately be postponed until Sunday sometime. I'll edit in a definate time later...once again, after I sober up.

I can give a few highlights...Buffy sucks at charades, Liam does something he's not proud of, Willow does much babbling, and Tara...well, she sleeps thru most of the update.

It all makes perfect sense now...doesn't it?

Perfect sense? I'm sure it will when we read it, and I'm drunk right now so ... anything's possible. Babysitting is really cute and it sounds like you're a sweetheart, trying to balance everything. I'll be happy waiting for the update, I just love the story and have done from the start.

Re:update - Brilliant, and I'm really excited about Giles and Anya summoning Anteros (is that right? sorry if it isn't!! Did I mention I've consumed some alcohol!!)

Hullo, Jessan!

Well, I suppose you deserve some sort of break even if you are a bit of a tease ;) I'm just teasing you! eek!

I hope that you have fun that doesn't end in a nasty hangover, and which also does not involve any frightening birthday clowns. Birthday cake, on the other hand... unless you're vegan of course, in which case.... *automatic babble shutdown*

Right. I'm really looking forward to meeting Anteros.

And - sneaky but not actually sneaky Buffy? I can just feel it coming, and it feels funny. I'm going to share some excuses now, so, er... you've been warned.

1) B: I came in here looking for that shirt you borrowed, and I lost my contact lens... T: Since when do you wear contacts? B: Did... Did I say my contact lens? I meant Liam... S: Yeah... The yellow kind. Makes me look all vampiric and scary...

2) B: Dawn had to bring a frog home... for...Biology, and it escaped! and it ran in here! We're just trying to find it.. W: Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!

LOL, Owl! That was rockingly funny.

And, Jessan15, we know it'll make sense once you post the update. But Sunday can be such a long time if it's as good as this fic. Anyway, enjoy the party and don't get drunk too much. Hangovers aren't really funny what with the headache and all.

I just discovered this fic and I wound up getting caught up in it and reading it all the way through. I loved Anya' s Lesbian sex math. I found it interesting that the numbers came out to 69% and 69 days. I'm sure the number 69 was just a coincidence though, eh? I'm looking forward to the next update. Have sex or die? I know which option I'd choose.

So I started reading this a long time ago and got interupted and finally had a chance to get back to it. Good stuff. Lesbian sex math, secret agent Buffy....actually I'll stop rambling.

Here's a question though. In the last part, the song you used was "Hanging On For Dear Life" by Jennifer McGill. I have never found anyone who had heard of this song. One of my favorites. Where'd you hear it?

That song...

Postby jessan15 » Sun Apr 14, 2002 1:17 pm

Thanatopsis - I discovered that song years ago when I had a major crush on Jennifer. Hey, I was young...it was the Mickey Mouse Club....what can I say? I heard her do that song on one of their specials and fell in love with it.

I always thought she would have had a career in music, but she seems to have disappeared. She had an awesome voice. Oh and Tiffany Hale...God how I drooled...

Does anyone have a clue who I am talking about? Probably not...get to what they want to read...

Ok...sober and writing...secret agent Buffy is soooo huge, that it is going to be posted in two parts...first one will be tonight, sometime before 9 PM EST as for the other, it should be ready tomorrow after noon.

Talk to you all later...

----------------------------

Buffy and Spike ran up to the back porch, Spike with a heavy blanket over his head.

After tossing the blanket on one of the patio chairs, Buffy put her hand on Spike’s arm. “Okay, so you wait in the kitchen and I’ll find out where they are.” she said in a quieted tone.

Spike nodded. “So, you distract and I fetch. What do I need to get?” Spike asked.

Buffy pulled a piece of paper out of her back pocket and read it. “Well, we need a personal possession of each of them and some part of them.” Buffy momentarily considered all the possibilities for that. ’Saliva, earwax, blood, skin…Hair, hair is just fine.’ she thought shaking her head at the idea of how they would get any of the others things. “I guess hair will be the easiest thing.” she said and opened the kitchen door.

Spike put a comforting hand on her shoulder and followed her into the kitchen. “Right.” he said, giving her a reassuring squeeze.

They walked in the kitchen and closed the door. Buffy walked over and pulled two plastic bags out of the drawer. “Here.” she said, handing one to Spike.

Spike looked down, momentarily confused. He looked back at the slayer, then realization dawned on him what the bags were for. He gave her a thumbs up.

“I’ll be back.” she said in her best Terminator voice, then gave him a quick kiss on the lips.

------------------------

Buffy walked into the living room and saw Willow sitting on the couch staring off into space. Her eyes were red and swollen. “Willow? What’s wrong? Where’s Tara?” she asked, loud enough so that Spike could hear her from the kitchen.

Willow barely looked up to acknowledge the slayer’s presence. “Tara’s sleeping in Dawn’s room.” she said.

Buffy walked over and slowly sat down on the couch next to Willow. “You want to talk about it?” she asked gently.

Willow leaned her head up against Buffy’s shoulder and told her everything that she could about what had happened earlier with Tara.

“Buffy, I don’t know what to do anymore. We try working through things and more things seem to keep popping up. I don’t know what to do anymore. She blames herself for everything and she never did anything wrong and she blames Glory for everything and she’s never even talked about Glory despite everything that happened. I know its all my fault, but she says she forgives me, but its too much for her to deal with right now and we love each other, but its just not enough.” Willow started rubbing her tired eyes, as the tears flowed freely once again. “And I don’t understand why!” she whined and started crying harder.

Buffy’s hearing picked up Spike tapping on the wall in the dining room. While Willow was crying on her left shoulder, Buffy casually glanced off to the right to see Spike peeking out from behind the dining room wall.

Spike held his hand up over his eyes and then pointed at himself and then towards the stairs.

Buffy had never been very good at charades. She crinkled her brow in an ‘I have no idea what you’re talking about.’ gesture.

Spike closed his eyes and shook his head. He grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl, hoping she would get red apple…redhead. He tried again. He pointed at Buffy, then held the apple up to his left shoulder. He bobbed it up and down while making a sad face. He pointed at the slayer and then used his right hand to cover the apple. Then he again pointed to himself and then to the stairs.

Buffy’s face lit up with recognition for what he was suggesting. Buffy turned her head back to the redhead who was leaning on her shoulder, still quietly sobbing. Buffy put her arm around her head and wrapped Willow in an awkward hug that covered her eyes. “Willow, everything’s going to be okay.” she said.

Buffy didn’t look back to the dining room, but heard Spike’s footsteps on the stairs. In Willow’s current state of mind, even if she had heard the footfalls, she probably wouldn’t have thought anything of them anyway.

“Buffy, my noze.” Willow complained, trying to remove her friend’s arm, but was having no luck.

Buffy released her strange hug and gave Willow a slightly embarrassed blush. “Sorry Will.” she said, replacing the hug with a comforting arm around her shoulders. “Will, I thought things were going great this morning?” she asked, focusing now completely on her friend’s needs.

Willow gestured frantically with her hands. “That’s what I don’t understand. They were. I think. I don’t know. I just know that once we actually start talking about things is when we start having problems. Our bodies don’t seem to be having any issues about being together, but our heads do.” she said trying to explain the situation to the slayer. “And it just sucks!” she declared.

Buffy was desperately trying to follow everything Willow was telling her, but it wasn‘t always easy to follow the trail of Willow thought. “I thought you wanted to talk about things before you guys got back together?” she asked, trying to straighten out her friends' situation in her own head.

Willow leaned forward and grabbed a tissue from the box on the coffee table. After blowing her nose, she let yet another Willow babble loose. “I did. And we did. But when we did, then suddenly everything was her fault and she felt guilty. And I don’t understand why we keep doing this. It’s like driving down main street with all those stupid traffic lights at every single block. After the first one turns green, you think you’re going to be on your way, but then the next one turns red. And the process just keeps repeating itself all the way down the road.” the redhead explained.

Buffy blinked, surprised that out of everything Willow had said to her, the driving scenario actually made sense.

Willow lifted her head and looked the slayer in the eyes. “How many lights are there?” she whined, begging the slayer to have the answer for her.

Buffy pushed Willow‘s head back down to her shoulder with her hand. “I don’t know. I wish I did.” she said stroking Willow’s hair.

------------------------

Spike stood next to Dawn’s door and listened intently for any sounds coming from within. He could hear Tara’s steady, even breathing. ‘Well, she’s asleep.’ he thought.

He tried the door. “Bugger.” he muttered. He knelt down and examined the lock. It had a small hole with a key in the mechanism. He just needed something small enough to stick in there in order to pop it open. Surely there would be something in Will’s room he could use to open the door with.

Spike walked into Willow’s room and looked around. His mind breifly wandered from opening Dawn's door to what he should take to use as their possessions. He had no idea what he should grab. He kinda liked the redheaded witch, but didn’t pay much attention to what she valued, other than people that is. He looked around on the shelves. There really wasn’t much there. He did notice a crystal sitting in front of a picture of the two witches. ‘That’s got to be something.’ she thought as he reached out and put the crystal in his pocket.

He continued looking around the room. He picked up footsteps in the hallway with his hearing and dove on the far side of the bed, away from the door. He lifted the dust ruffle to determine if he could climb underneath. ‘So much for that idea. How many shoes does one woman need?’ he wondered sarcastically.

He opted for sliding as much of his body under the bed as he could, which really wasn’t much. His black coat didn’t exactly blend in with the off white carpeting either. He looked thru the sea of shoes to see bare feet walking around the bed.

Tara walked over to the armoire and looked in the mirror. After a brief second of gazing at her reflection, she tipped her head to the side, as if instinctively knowing something isn’t right. She then turns left and stares directly at the vampire laying half under the bed.

‘Bugger.’ he thought. ‘How the hell am I gonna get outta this one?’

“Liam?” The blonde asked with a raised eyebrow.

Spike began scooting out from under the bed. “Uh hey Blondie.” he said as he stood up to face her.

Tara crossed her arms in front of her. “What’re you doing?” she inquired.

Spike was relieved. Her initial reaction hadn‘t been anger, only curiosity. “Uh well, Buffy said…Willow’s a little out of it and Buffy told me to come upstairs and grab her shoes so we could take her out.” He pointed to the bed. “She didn’t warn me about Davy Jones’s Locker down there.” he said with a hint of disgust at having to suffer the horror of Willow’s shoe collection.

Tara studied the vampire‘s face. “She didn’t have shoes right next to the door downstairs?” she asked Spike, not believing a single word he had said.

Spike shuffled his feet from side to side and trying to avoid her gaze. “Oh, I guess Buffy meant her shoes then. She has these really uncomfortable looking shoes on.” he said as if he was an authority on the subject of women’s shoes.

Tara shook her head. “Liam, you are a horrible liar.” she declared. “Why are you in here?” she asked, pinning him with her glare.

Spike‘s head dropped. Tara wasn‘t going to let him get by with some stupid excuse. He would try to get out of this by using his only weapon. The truth. “I was looking for something of yours.”

Spike‘s answer took her totally by surprise. “Why?” she said, taking a seat on the bed.

Spike couldn‘t believe the words that were coming out of his mouth. “I wanted something real, you know solid, to show her you were still here in some way.” he explained, while he bounced the tip of his boot behind him on the carpet.

Tara’s face softened and a genuine heartfelt smile appeared on her face. “You are so sweet.” she got off the bed, walked over and gave him a quick hug.

Spike hugged back, with only a slight hesitation. He was swimming in guilt. Even if he hadn’t completely lied to the blonde witch, he still couldn’t believe he was willing to play with her emotions like that. ‘If I were alive, I’d be going to hell for this.’ he thought to himself.

Tara walked over to the jewelry box. She pulled out a class ring with a blue stone in it. She turned around and handed it to Spike. “Here. It’s my class ring. I gave this to Willow ages ago, when we first started dating.” she said as a faint blush crept up her cheeks. “She said the stone was the same color as my eyes.”

Spike shook his head as he looked at the ring and then back at her eyes. “Nothing could ever be that blue.” he said, without hesitation.

Tara smiled. Spike was quickly becoming very important to the blonde. With each passing day, he only seemed to mean more to her. Their blossoming relationship was one that Tara desperately needed in her life. Giles had become her new father and Buffy was more like her cousin Beth than she would ever let the slayer know. The one thing she had been missing was Donnie’s replacement. Tara had never even been remotely close enough to Xander to consider him a brother. Spike, on the other hand, was the perfect demon for the job.

Tara shook her head trying to remove the thoughts from her head and got back to what they had been discussing instead. “Don’t tell her I gave it to you. Remember, you just saw it had my name on it.” she warned him, as she looked around the room once more.

“Right.” he agreed, then noticed her far away look, as she looked around the room “You okay?” he said, ducking his head down to catch her attention.

Tara blinked. Twice. “I’m…I don’t know what I am. I’m tired. I know that.” she said shaking her head.

The concern was evident on Spike‘s face. “If you want to talk or anything…” he left the question open, giving her the opportunity to shut him down if she wanted.

Tara‘s eyes shown with love for the vampire. “Thank you Liam.” she said as she leaned forward and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

She headed towards the door. But Spike calling out her name stopped her. “Tara.” he said. Tara paused with her hand on the doorknob and looked back at him.

“Why did you come in here just now?” he asked curiously. He wasn’t even sure why he asked that question.

Tara sighed as she looked around the room once more. “I just wanted to…see it.” the last two words barely audible. “Sometimes I wonder if any of it was even real.” she told him cryptically.

Spike was thoroughly confused at her response. “Blondie?” he questioned, as he moved next to her at the door.

Tara shook her head. She wasn‘t ready to talk about this with anyone yet. “Reality check, that’s all. I had a bad dream.” she assured him.

Spike nodded. “Alright.” he said giving her a hug. “I’ll talk to you later.”

Spike ran a hand down her long blonde hair and yanked a piece at the end. “Ow.” she cried at the quick yank.

Spike pulled back from the witch. “Uh, sorry luv, got my finger caught.” he said, giving her his best apologetic look.

He received a winning smile in return. “S’ok. I’ll talk to you later.” she said and turned to go out the door, pausing briefly to give him one last reminder. “Remember, I didn’t give that to you.”

Spike winked at her. “She’ll never know. I promise.” he vowed.

‘That’s it, lie some more. Like you aren’t in deep enough already.’ he thought as he watched the blonde disappear back into Dawn’s bedroom.

So he had the crystal and the ring. ‘So it’s Blondie’s ring, but she gave it to Red. So who does it represent then?’ Spike wondered. The vampire pulled the plastic bag out of this pocket and inserted the blonde hair he had accidentally removed with his finger. He closed the bag and returned it to his pocket.

Spike looked around the room, unable to determine if he should grab anything else. He looked in the jewelry box and grab a chain that had a small Star of David charm on it. ‘Well, that’s definitely Red.’ He glanced over the table and noticed a bottle of perfume. He sniffed the cap and smiled. ‘Yep, that’s Blondie’s brand alright.’

Surely between everything in his pockets, they would have enough to do whatever spell they were cooking up.

“Now, how the bloody hell do I get back downstairs without Red seeing?” he wondered out loud to himself.

----------------------------

Well, there's part one. The second part has the answer to the question some of your might be asking...Wouldn't Willow notice the Doll's Eye Crystal missing?

Um, oh yeah. Till tomorrow....

Okay, so I really like this story, and I'm loving the interaction between Tara and Willow. But Spike...gah...I'm having problems with Spike. Just thought I'd tell you; it's not a criticism, in fact, it probably stems from my own perception of him rather than yours. But hey, I'm not a huge fan anyway.

Jessan I got you beat, I think. I too had a major crush on Jennifer way back when I was young and watching the Micky Mouse club. Though, I actually went out and bought the damn CD they put out. Which actually isn't too bad. Go figure. I still have it today. Still, I agree its weird, I fully expected more from her. But, hey, half those people disappeared and the other half are way too famous for their own good.

Postby VampNo12 » Sun Apr 14, 2002 11:35 pm

Jessan another excellent update. I do greatly enjoy the relationship between Liam/Spike and Tara. The way they interact is so sweet, and I like how this is reinforced with Tara seeing Liam as her brother ("right demon for the job") instead the one she got stuck with Donny.

I loved the whole charade part with Liam and the red apple. I can only imagine Buffy's expression when she can't understand what the frilly heck he is saying plus the added bonus of having to distract a crying Willow.

Now I know who (Liam) and why (hiding from Tara) got under Willow's bed. Loved the details about all those shoes it kinda sounds like me. Also the hug was sweet and sneaky, but at least he got the hair, and I am wondering how Willow will deal when she finds the dolls eye crystal missing.

Lastly, I am enjoying secret agent Buffy, and I look forward to her continuing adventures in her goal of reuniting Willow and Tara. I can't wait for the next update!

Comments...and a promise

Postby jessan15 » Mon Apr 15, 2002 3:11 pm

Pixie gishmock - Yeah, Liam and Tara are so damn sweet together. I kind of really like the idea of Tara being close to the non-core scoobies. They all have so much in common I think. And you DON'T take the Doll's Eye Crystal, that would just be INSANE!

Drakkenfyre - Small brain? Don't admit it and we would never know...LOL

SquishyTrishy - Such sweet praise, thank you. *blush*

tommo - For the record, I HATE Spike. No disrespect to JM, he's a wonderful actor. I just never liked him as Spike at all on the show. Basically, I like the idea of everyone having a significant other. Gee, Angel? Never liked him either. Riley? HATED him. Honestly, I would have rather have seen Buffy with Faith myself...but back to the point. Since I despise Spike, I kinda made up my own character in my world that looks like Spike. Personally, I love Liam. Does that make you feel any better?

Thanatopsis - Do you mean the album that has Merry-Go-Round, Cool Love, Flava, & Goodbye Doesn't Mean I'm Gone on it? Do you mean that album? Of COURSE I own that stupid album...oh, I even have a cheap home made tape made from the tv special with her singing 'If You Want My Love'. I really liked that song. Go figure. LoL

VampNo12 - Yep, we'll be getting a little more into that aspect a little later in the story. The whole replacement family thing...

I could so see Buffy with this stupid look on her face when Liam was bouncing an apple around on his shoulder. Heh.

mollyig - Nervous? Oh come on...half of the fun is getting there...and you know what they say, the harder the road, the sweeter the payoff.

BigMac - More coming...hang on.

Grimaldi - Spike gets downstairs....er, well, not until he goes back upstairs first.

Lonewolf22 - Hmm, Willow Tara goodness...that's going to take some time...But after Anteros helps them out...things should be good, as long as the girls don't figure out that their friends used magic to help them....cause that might not be good.

-------------------------

Ok, with all that out of the way...the second part is mostly written...I have to add some highlights...cause, well, Willow's not in her right frame of mind and kinda picked a fight with Buffy...Sigh. Willow just can't win today.

Ok, update will be around 8 PM EST TONIGHT

Yeah, I know what you mean. Did the same thing. I wonder where that tape is? I probably taped over it in embaressment.

Seeing those lyrics, made me reminscent. I took out the CD the other day, dusted it off and listened to it again. Ah, memories.

UPDATE

Postby jessan15 » Mon Apr 15, 2002 5:11 pm

Promise fulfilled...and just in time too...gotta get to bowling. How can bowling be considered a sport if you can participate while drunk? I never did really understand that....oh and if I am totally wrong about the fashion stuff...someone feel free to yell at me. I would no doubt be on Mr Blackwell's Worst Dress List.

------------------------------

Buffy continued to hold Willow and stroke her hair, desperately hoping that one strand would just fall out. But of course, things like that never worked out the way she wanted them to in Buffyland.

The slayer picked up a few strands of Willow’s hair and examined it. “Is you’re hair getting lighter?” she asked off handedly.

Willow sniffed. “Not really the most important thing on my mind right now Buf.” she said shaking her head on Buffy’s shoulder.

Buffy shrugged. “Sorry. Fashion sense kicking in. If it’s lightening, you better stay away from the pastels. Total lack of contrast.” the slayer warned.

Willow lifted her head off of Buffy’s shoulder. “Has everyone lost their minds today, or am I in some strange alternate reality where everyone I love makes absolutely no sense? Which is really ironic considering everyone is always saying that I live in my own world.” she said giving the slayer a strange look.

Buffy sighed and threw her hands in the air. “Oh fine. We’ll be all scientific about it then.” Buffy reached up and grabbed a strand of her own hair and pulled it out. Then she leaned over and yanked one of Willow’s.

Willow reached up and rubbed the spot where Buffy yanked her hair. “Ow! What was that for?!” she questioned.

She held the two strains up to show her friend. “I’m going to prove my point.” she said pulling the two strands of hair across her pale yellow shirt. “Ok, I thought they would show up better. I guess I need a few more.” she said reaching for Willow’s head once more.

Willow pulled away from Buffy and slapped at her hand. “No way! You aren’t going to sit there and pluck me bald! Do I look like a potential thanksgiving dinner to you?” she said with eyebrows shot high. She couldn’t quite understand why Buffy was acting the way she was.

Buffy held her hands up in the air. “Ok fine. I never knew you to be one to pass up something based on academics.” Suddenly Buffy heard this light tapping on the banister. She looked over and saw Spike peaking out from behind the wall. He pointed at Willow.

“I’d hardly count fashion do’s and don’ts as part of academia. If so, Cordelia would have been valedictorian for sure.” she said, shuddering at the thought of the ex-cheerleader.

Buffy was racking her brain trying to figure out how to get Willow out of the living room. Fortunately, the clock on the wall began chiming, reminding the slayer that it was lunchtime. Buffy looked back at Willow. “So you want to go get lunch or some thing?” the slayer asked, hoping she could get Willow into the kitchen.

Unfortunately, Willow had other ideas. “No, I think I’m just going to go upstairs and lay down.” she said standing up.

Buffy’s eyes shot wide. “No!” she shouted, grabbing the redhead’s arm. Upon receiving a glaring look from the redhead, the slayer laughed hesitantly. “I mean, come on. I don’t want to sit all by myself and eat lunch. 5 minutes?” she begged.

Willow pulled her arm out of her friend‘s grasp. “Better idea. You got make yourself a snack and come up to my room. By the time you’re done eating, I’ll probably be asleep.” she said, thinking the slayer would be content with the compromise.

Buffy jumped up and put her hands on Willow‘s upper arms. “Ooo, I have this really crazy idea! YOU go make my sandwich and I’LL go turn your bed down.” she said with a squeal.

Willow narrowed her eyes and flashed the slayer a questioning glance. “Why don’t you want me to go upstairs?” she said, tipping her head to the side.

Buffy laughed nervously. “Upstairs? Why would you think that? Just cause Tara’s upstairs and our rooms are upstairs, what’s so great about upstairs? I’ve always thought that the best part of the house was the living room and kitchen myself.” she rattled off.

Willow‘s face softened. “Look Buffy, I’m not quite sure if you’ve been inhaling too much vampire dust or what, but your are starting to frightening me. And not necessarily in a funny-haha way.” She said heading for the stairs. “Are you coming up to eat?”

“Um, yeah. I’ll meet you in your room Willow.” she said way too loud.

Willow closed her eyes and sighed. “Buffy. I’m miserable? Yes. Deaf? No.” she said as she continued climbing the stairs.

“Sorry.” she said hurrying to the kitchen.

------------------------

Spike rushed to Buffy’s room and closed the door. He heard the footsteps walk down the hall. And waited for the second pair to follow. He figured once Buffy had Willow in her room, he could sneak back downstairs into the kitchen. A moment later, he heard the second pair of steps. They went past Buffy’s door, stopped, then walked back.

Spike went to hide, but then figured if anyone found him in Buffy’s room, he certainly had a good enough excuse for that one.

The door opened and Buffy’s blonde head poked in. “Liam?” she whispered.

“You keep Red busy and I’ll meet you in the kitchen in a few.” he said giving her a quick kiss.

Buffy nodded. “I’ll make sure I close her door.”

He saw the sandwich, grabbed it and took a bite. “You hate salami.” he said, his mouth still chewing.

Buffy shrugged. “It was the only thing in the fridge. Immediately following this crisis, we’re going to Wal-Mart.” she declared.

“Like hell I am.” he replied. Spike may indeed be becoming part of the Summer’s household, but he’d be damned if he was going to get suckered into doing the shopping.

Buffy gave his a devilish grin. “We’ll see about that.” she said grabbing her lunch back from him. She gave him another kiss then headed to Willow’s room.

As soon as he heard Willow’s door click, he headed down the stairs.

------------------

Buffy walked in and found Willow tearing her room apart. “Will, I thought you were tired? Why the sudden cleaning frenzy?” she asked, staring at her friend throwing things all over her floor.

“It’s gone!” she shouted, as she threw a book in Buffy‘s general direction.

Buffy walked closely to the redhead, but keeping out of the path of flying objects. “What’s gone?” she questioned.

Willow turned and caught Buffy‘s eye. “The Doll’s Eye Crystal.” she said, as a tear ran down her cheek. “It always sits right here on this shelf in front of the picture of Tara and I. I never move it. You KNOW that.” she insisted. When they removed all the magical items from the house, Willow had begged and pleaded with Buffy to let her keep that one item. Willow had solemnly vowed that it would never move from in front of their picture.

Buffy bit the inside of her lip. She remembered the promise Willow had made to her. She knew, the Doll‘s Eye Crystal NEVER moved. “Maybe Dawn borrowed it.” she suggested.

Willow choked as another thought came to hear mind. “Maybe Tara took it back.” she said, the thought sending chills down her spine.

‘Woah, Willow blaming Tara….BAD THING!’ she thought. “Maybe she took it to a crystal cleaners?” she offered as an incredible lame excuse, trying to calm Willow down with her special brand of off the wall humor.

Willow stopped searching and let her head dropped towards the floor. “Maybe she doesn’t trust me with it anymore.” she answered softly.

‘Spike had to have taken it.’ Buffy reasoned. “Now that’s just silly.” she chided Willow. This was SO NOT going to help bring the witches back together.

Willow turned around and shot the slayer a dirty look. “This from the slayer that brought you the crystal cleaners conclusion.” she said incredulously.

Buffy held up her hands and started backing away from the redhead. “No need to be bitter, or jump to conclusions. Let me go look downstairs. Maybe Dawn took it and didn’t put it back.” she offered as a more reasonably explanation. “How many times have you lost stuff from your wardrobe?” she reminded the hacker.

Willow had lost many a pair of shoes to the Dawn monster. “Point taken.” she pointed towards the door. “Go. Look!” she commanded.

The slayer hurried out the door.

-----------------------

Buffy ran downstairs and in the kitchen where she found Spike leaning against the counter. “Well, its about bloody freakin’ time woman.” he said with crossed arms.

Buffy folded her hands in front of her. “I can’t believe I am going to say this, but PLEASE say you were the one that stole the Doll’s Eye Crystal?” she asked.

Spike reached into his pocket and pulled out the crystal. “You mean this thing?” he said, holding up the crystal for her inspection.

Buffy smiled and then slugged him in the arm. Hard. “What were you thinking?!?” she demanded in a whispered shout.

Spike wasn‘t completely sure what was going on, but he had a feeling he was in deep shit. “It meant something, didn’t it?” he asked.

“Oh just EVERYTHING to her.“ the slayer explained. “She’s upstairs right now FREAKING OUT because its GONE.” she said trying to make him understand the significance of what he had taken.

Spike dropped his head. “Rot.” he swore and looked up with pleading eyes. “I didn’t know. I swear.” he responded guiltily.

She held the crystal up and shook it in his face. “You are so going to owe Dawn for this.” she warned him as she walked towards the door to the living room.

“Dawn?” he asked, quirking an eyebrow.

Buffy turned to look at him with her hand poised on the door. “I have to pawn your mistake off on someone, don’t I?” she commented dryly.

“Ah. Gotcha.” he said as she disappeared out the door.

----------------------

Buffy returned to Willow’s bedroom to find every pair of shoes the redhead owed being yanked out from under the bed.

Buffy heard the hacker cursing under the bed as a shoe hit her in the ankle. “Where? Where? Where? It has to be here!” she was shouting.

Buffy knelt down and tapped the redhead on the leg and waited for her to wiggle back out from under the bed. “Looking for this?” she said holding up the crystal.

Willow grabbed the crystal from the slayer and held it close to her chest. “Where was it?” she asked.

“Downstairs in the dining room. Dawn must have been fooling around again.” she reasoned while she stood up and put her hands on her hips. “I’ve told her repeatedly that I don’t want her doing magic.” she said. ‘Dawn, I promise I am going to make this up to you.’ The slayer swore.

Willow turned away from Buffy. “Because of me.” she mumbled.

Buffy shook her head. “No, that’s not true. I don’t have a problem with Tara using magic.”

Willow spun around and began gesturing frantically. “Of course not. Tara’s the responsible one. Me, I’m just the screw-up of the group.” she said in a hurt tone.

Buffy put her hands in the air. “Woah, hang on. Rewind. Willow, I trust you. You know that.” the slayer said in a loving tone.

Willow nodded affirmatively. “With anything but magic.” she said to qualify the slayer’s statement.

Buffy shook her head and crossed her arms in front of her. “Why are you doing this to yourself? You had a problem. It happens. You got over it and everything’s better now.”

Willow slumped down onto the bed. “It’ll never be better.” she commented.

‘My God, negative much Will?’ she wondered silently. “Sure it will. You just have to give it some time.” she said placing a hand on her shoulder.

Willow forcefully pushed Buffy‘s hand away. “I am sick and tired of everyone telling me it’ll get better. I am sick and tired of always being the one who has to work thru the pain!” she shouted.

Now that pissed Buffy off. She was off on another, my life sucks trip, poor me. “Ok, REALITY CHECK!” she said and began counting on her fingers. “Angel, Riley, my mother’s death, my death, Giles leaving, how do you figure you cornered the market on pain?” she said in a raised voice and she started to pace back and forth. “You want to hear the ironic thing Will? Everyone you loves, comes back to you. So stop bitching about it and be thankful.” The slayer told her with an annoyed tone. Oz had come back. Buffy had come back. And now Tara was trying to come back.

Willow had filtered out most of Buffy‘s rant other than the words ‘my death‘. “Do you still wish I hadn’t brought you back?” she asked quietly.

Buffy sighed and sat down next to her on the bed. “If you had asked me that 4 months ago, I would have said yes. Lately, I’ve been on cloud nine, so I guess it’s a moot point now.” she said with a smile. “Look, you’ve had a rough morning, I’m going to head down to the Magic Box and see what’s up with Giles.” she said. “Do you need anything?” she asked getting up from the bed.

Willow was beginning to realize that this was not a good day for her to open her mouth about anything to anyone. “Sorry if I am being a first class pain in the ass.” she said dipping her head.

Buffy smiled and squatted in front of the redhead to look her in the eye. “I’m your best friend. I’m used to it by now.” she said with a smirk.

“Jerk.” she replied with a half grin.

“Ass.” the slayer shot back.

“Bitch.” Willow retorted and stuck out her tongue.

Buffy smiled, seeing her friend finally lightening up slightly. “Feel better now?”

Willow held up her thumb and index finger about an inch apart. “Maybe just a little.”

“Love you.” she said while standing up. “Call us later and we‘ll figure out what to do about dinner.” she said as she headed for the door.

“Sure. And Buffy?” The slayer stopped and turned to look at her friend. “Thanks. For everything.” she said hugging the crystal to her chest.

“Just call me The Finder of Lost Things.” she declared and headed out the door.

------------------------

Buffy walked into the kitchen with a smug look on her face. The kind that meant Spike was in her debt now. “Ok, you’re ass is saved. You owe me a trip to Wal-Mart for this.” she informed him.

Spike rolled his eyes. “Fine.” he sighed. “We all set then?” Spike questioned.

Buffy pulled out her plastic baggie. “I got a piece of Willow’s hair. Do you get Tara’s?” Spike also pulled out his plastic bag. “Possessions?” she asked and watched as Spike held the ring, necklace, and bottle of perfume. Buffy picked up the ring and examined it. “Tara’s class ring?” she said, slightly surprised that he had found it in Willow’s room. Buffy couldn’t ever remember seeing either girl wearing it, ever.

Spike nodded. “She gave it to me.” he answered proudly.

Buffy handed him back the ring. “She gave it to you?” she questioned.

Spike nodded. “Yeah after she caught me in Red’s room.” he said, gesturing towards the ceiling.

‘Oh that‘s got to be a good story.’ she thought. The slayer waved him to the door. “Come on. You can explain it to me on the way to the Magic Box.” she said as they headed out the door.

Okay, I'm not sure how much of a delay there will be in the next update....I asked WebWarlock for some help with something...I'll wait until he gets back to me to let you know when the next update will be...

BUT, I can tell you this much...The God of Love makes his first appearance. And of course that means that Anya, Xander, Buffy, and Giles do a spell together.

NOT LIKE THAT!!!!

Part A: Jessan, love the way you make Willow babble and I'm still laughing my arse off at Buffy being the superspy and playing charades with a red apple with Spike.

Part B: Liked the dialogue between Buffy and Willow especially the insults like jerk and bitch, reminds me of season 3 when Buffy came back and they did that at the Expresso Pump.

Hope to see more soon.

Ye Olde Ring

I thoroughly enjoyed the update. :) Bravo to Spike and Buffy for sort of pulling it off! Just one problem; if Tara gave the ring to Spike, doesn't that make it his, not hers? I'm assuming I'm meant to be wondering this. I can't wait to find out how it works out!

I enjoyed the further adventures of secret agent Buffy, and loved her whole diatribe about hair and fashion in order to secure Willow's hair. Also loved Willow's saying "Do I look like a potential thanksgiving dinner to you" when she was trying pluck a hair off Willow.

I just knew Willow would go completely crazy when she found the doll eye's crystal missing. Knowing my shoe fetish I can so see different pairs of shoes flung all over the place in search of this important crystal.

Loved Willow and Buffy's talk in Willow's room, and it was good to see them able to joke with each other by calling each other "Bitch" "Jerk" (it shows how comfortable they are with each other to give out these insults). Also I found when Buffy said, "Just call me The finder of Lost Things" (in reference to the crystal) I also saw it as an inference to helping Willow and Tara to reunite/find each other again.

Poor Dawnie having to take the blame for the crystal mishap. I hope Buffy makes Liam's shopping experience something he will never forget. The comic happenings during a day of shopping for a vampire would be interesting to see. Can't wait for the next update and the introduction of the God of Love!
