PART TWELVE (The Date and Lip Gloss)Tara smiled softly, the left corner of her lip curling upwards as the redhead’s words filled her ears. Willow was right; there was something between them, something deep inside them that felt as if they had known each other in some past life, the connection was there and it felt better than anything.
It was like meeting someone for the first time and instantly feeling as if you were best friends, that you were meant to meet each other and be friends forever. Willow felt like a friend, she felt like a companion, she felt like someone who she was meant to be with, for the rest of her life.
A date didn’t feel necessary, they didn’t need it to find out if they wanted to be together, they didn’t need to explore the possibilities of a future, they already knew what their hearts were telling them and what they were telling themselves. That this was going to be something great.
She could feel it in her heart.
She could feel it in her soul.
The answer flowing through her veins like an open call sign that stated the obvious.
The goddesses above must have been playing matchmaker and the heart shaped arrow must have landed on them, she was sure of it. It was the only thing that felt right, that and the fact that she and this woman in front of her had a bond, a bond that couldn’t and wouldn’t be broken and she knew all of those answers even before they had their first date, their kiss said it all and the gooseflesh and shivers that erupted after that said the rest.
It seemed too perfect, like a missing puzzle of a puzzle that they had been trying to find for the longest time. They both tried other pieces but none of them made sense, none of them suited each other, but they knew without a doubt that they had finally found the missing piece; their questions were finally and ultimately answered.
That the arrow must have landed on them.
“It must have landed on us.” Tara whispered almost absentmindedly, her sapphire eyes still locked onto deep emerald depths as her mind continued to wander away, her right hand gently cupping the other woman’s cheek amorously, her small thumb beginning a light trail across the redhead’s face, delicately and deftly stroking soft and silky supple skin. “I’m sure of it.”
Thoughts of tiny angel babies flying overhead invaded Tara's mind, carrying their tiny angel shaped arrows and crossbows, white and ashen colored wings whipping from left to right and right to left again as they floated across the darkened azure skies and onto colorless clouds, searching for their next twosome, smiling and giggling as they watched Willow and Tara from their position in the heavens.
Their job was done.
“Um, what?” Willow knitted her brow in confusion, unsure of what Tara meant, unsure of what she was trying to get at, unsure of almost anything and everything and she wasn’t used to feeling that way, she wasn’t used to feeling it at all. “Tara…” the redhead managed to utter, her voice sounding completely bewildered, her eyebrows lifting in silent unspoken question even as Tara's hands cupped her face. “Tara, what do you mean?”
Tara didn’t say anything, she was too engaged in watching Willow’s eyes, they were the greenest she has ever seen, deep jade and crimson green, like the greenest pasture, the highest hillside, the greenest grass, the color of most lushes and velvety meadow that ever graced this earth. She could stare at them forever and she hoped that she always would.
“What must have landed on us?” Willow asked again as she looked up at the sky behind them, quietly noting the falling raindrops, it fell even harder from the sky and the pounding clatter the drizzling rain made when it hit the grey asphalt pathway nearly muffled each other words, their voices needed to heighten in order for perfect clarity, their voices were drowning in the atmosphere as they tried in vain to hear the other. “Is it the rain? Because we’re kind of wet and I know that—”
“No.” Tara shook her head just once. “The arrow…” The blonde began to clarify but those two simple words only served to further the redhead’s confusion; her palm was still cupping the redhead’s cheek. “I just…I thought about the arrow and…”
"Tara what are you..."
“The arrow hit us.” Tara said again as she pulled Willow’s face closer to hers, her mouth mere centimeters away from the redhead’s left ear, her voice ultra soft in pitch, an almost inaudible whisper, a breathy utterance of words. “The arrow hit us, Willow.” She voiced into the other woman’s ear, so soft and gentle, tender and compassionate, it was mystifying. “I can feel it.”
“You…you can…you can feel it?” Willow managed to echo, her breathing somewhat ragged when the feel of the blonde’s warm palm on her face and her breath in her ear just about knocked her on her feet, her knees nearly buckling at the contact. “Feel…what I’m feeling…”
Tara’s warm breath caused a small shudder to envelop the redhead’s small frame, a tiny and unexpected near-orgasm, a trembling shiver that shuddered through her body like tiny waves of pleasure, the blonde’s breathy words did that to her. It felt heavenly. She wanted to feel it again. And again and again once more.
“Yes…” The blonde simply said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world, her eyes still locked into green.
“Um…what arrow, Tara?” Willow questioned slowly, trying to regain control of her vocal cords, the cords that had momentarily shut down, she was completely and utterly perplexed but also completely and utterly aroused, if that was possible. “You’re kind of driving me crazy here...”
A puddle on the floor, her mouth slightly open, Tara’s slim digits carefully and tenderly cupping both of her soft cheeks, sharp fingernails trailing down her face, lukewarm breath against her neck and earlobe, wintry breeze faintly blowing through the air and across her features, pounding rain behind them that served to increase the chilly atmosphere.
Everything seemed intense.
Too intense.
But maybe not intense enough.
“What’s going on, Tara?” Willow asked once more, slightly worried. “You’re really confusing me with your words.”
Tara swallowed just once, her mind finally finding her and bringing her into the present, her psyche snapping back to life, it made the blonde want to take back her words when she realized that she may have just scared Willow off, if not slightly.
Sometimes she said things without even thinking and being with Willow made her brain shut down almost completely, the only thing that felt alive was her heart, her pounding and throbbing heart that was nearly causing her to shut down herself. She needed to find a balance.
“I…um...nothing.” Tara affirmed in a soft smile, shaking her head lightly from side to side when she finally realized the probable absurdity her words must have sounded to Willow, she forgot for a moment that she and the redhead didn’t share the same brain, as much as it seemed as if they did. “It’s nothing…just forget what I said, I say a lot of stupid things, sometimes often and in public and…”
“Tell me.” Willow pleaded quietly, her hands instinctively burying itself inside soft golden tresses, she didn’t know why she was being so forward, why either of them were, but it felt right for the moment, it felt right for the both of them. “You said it like three times, it must have meant something…and I want to know.” The redhead let out in a soft whisper, not pushing but pushing at the same time. “Please don’t be afraid to tell me anything, Tara”
Tara let out a small, embarrassed laugh. “I was just thinking about those tiny angel babies who play matchmaker—I don’t know what they’re called—I was just thinking that maybe… that maybe they really do exist, that they…that they…” the blonde stumbled on her words once again, she’d been doing that all day today. “That maybe they just…”
“They just what?” Willow gently prodded, anticipation and eagerness getting the best of her as she awaited Tara’s answer, the answer she was having such a difficult time getting out. “Tara, c’mon…it’s me…you could tell me anything.” The redhead whispered those last five words powerfully, her face sheer edges away from Tara’s, nose to nose, face to face, hands buried deeply inside long and luxurious locks, no one else seemed to exist.
“That they chose us.” Tara finally got out, breathing a sigh of relief when she finally got her words out, she didn’t know why it took so long to do it but the only thing her mind could fathom was that she finally did, it was the only thing that mattered. “That we were the lucky ones.”
“You’re incredibly adorable, do you know that?” Willow smiled as she leaned her face in and kissed the very tip of Tara’s nose, her right hand caressing soft blonde hair, not sexually but sensually, a silent show of reassurance. “And you’re probably right; I mean who knows what’s out there? It might just explain a lot of things about this connection we seem to have, it’s pretty rare that we feel it so quickly without even knowing much about each other and I’ve been looking for this for the longest time.”
“I guess you found it, huh?” Tara smiled as her slender fingers began carefully combing through her damp and dripping wet hair, she spent long hours brushing and styling it to look good for her date with Willow only to have her blonde tresses drenched in chilling rain, but somehow that hardly stuck a cord with her, it was never about the hair, it was never about anything other than Willow. “I might never have met you if it weren’t for some unfortunate circumstances.”
“But we might have met in another way.” Willow affirmed quietly, stepping back a bit as she took Tara’s hands into her own; her warm palm tenderly squeezing the blonde’s hand affectionately, gently tugging her to the entrance of the restaurant. “Tara, why don’t we eat something? All that kissing has made me kind of hungry, not to mention that lip gloss you have on, what kind is it?”
“Why don’t you have a check for yourself?” Tara smiled stealthily, the half smile of hers that made the redhead’s heart melt like nothing else. Tara licked the bottom of her lip lightly, her pink tongue peeking in between two plush lips as her eyes never left its hold on the redheads bottle green orbs, she couldn’t look away, she didn’t see any reason that she should. “Guess the flavor, maybe?”
“Really?”
“Why not?”
“Okay.” Willow found herself nodding, taking that extra step so she could reach Tara’s lips with her own. Willow leaned up and planted a kiss onto Tara’s lips, gently and softly kissing her, tasting the flavored lip gloss that was on it, both of their eyes closing in bliss as the kiss continued on, she wanted to be thorough. Willow planted just another fleeting kiss onto the blonde’s lips before pulling back, a small smile implanted onto her face, being with Tara made her feel that way and she hoped she always would.
“Well?” Tara asked, opening her eyes from the sensations that were rushing through her, the emotions of passion and lust and love that Willow’s kiss had evoked, she could almost hear her heart beat rapidly from her tender chest every single time the redhead’s soft lips met with her own, every single time she smiled at her, every single time their eyes met, the feeling was all too powerful, and all too great. “Do you know it?”
“Watermelon?” Willow guessed, the tip of her tongue lightly licking her own bottom lip, driving Tara wild, which was exactly the effect the redhead was searching for. “I’m sure it was watermelon, it was very tangy and sweet and…”
“Nope.”
Willow smirked a bit before leaning in for a second kiss, her lips meeting Tara’s again and again as she felt the blonde return the caress, enthusiastically kissing her back. The tip of the redhead’s tongue delved deeper as it parted the two plush lips in front of her, seeking it’s warm home inside.
The redhead listened quietly as she heard Tara bite back a moan, a small whimper escaping her throat as they continued to kiss again and again, the blonde’s hands now buried once more in reddish long locks, deep crimson tresses. Willow had to pull back after a minute, stepping away but still close together, the way it was meant to be.
“You have a second guess?”
“Raspberry?” Willow’s rose-colored eyebrows raised in question, she knew the exact flavor that garnered the blonde’s lips but she wanted an excuse to kiss Tara again and again, a large part of her knew that she didn’t need an excuse, she could probably kiss this other woman without any prodding, but this just seemed all too fun and all too tasty and just the thought of tasting Tara made her insides curl in delight. “I know it’s something fruity, I know it.”
“Wrong again.” Tara shook her head, a beaming smile spreading across her face. “But you have another guess.”
Willow smiled a bit and leaned in for another kiss, it was fairly quick but her lips lingered for a few seconds, it was as if she were tasting the other woman’s lips like fine wine, relishing in it, reveling in it, savoring the sweet tang of the zesty and fruity essence that Tara’s lips carried.
Loving the feel of it.
Loving the taste of it.
Loving the goose bumps that were now protruding from her soft skin as she kissed the blonde in her arms, it was like paradise, a bliss filled paradise that she never wanted to leave, ever.
“Well?” Tara crossed her arms over her chest and lifted an eyebrow when Willow had finally pulled away, she began giggling inside like a giddy school girl, she could see right through Willow and her antics, the redhead in front of her knew darn well what flavor it was, she knew that she knew but she had decided to play along anyway, the game seemed fun and she wanted to play, she always wanted to play. “You have a good idea what it is now? Third time’s the charm.”
“Strawberry.” Willow stated openly, adamant that her answer was the right one. “I know it was strawberry, I can still taste it now, all with the fruity and berry taste.”
Tara smirked, stepping a foot in front of her and grabbing the redhead from behind her neck, gently pulling her into her arms, tugging her closer and kissing her more passionately.
Willow instinctively buried both her hands into soft blonde hair, her nails dragging and trailing across the other woman’s smooth scalp, she felt Tara’s hands follow a trail down her back before finally resting her warm palm on the side of her hip, her slim digits clutching the flesh that was there, continuing the kiss.
This carried on for several more seconds before they both pulled away almost simultaneously. Both girls were breathing in ragged, shallow breaths.
“You’re right.” Tara smiled again, she couldn’t help but, the grin on her face was now permanently implanted after experiencing such a breathtaking and out of this world kiss, she had kissed other girls before but none even compared to Willow, none could ever compare. “It’s strawberry.”
“I knew it was.” Willow laughed and grabbed the blonde’s arm into hers, leading Tara into the restaurant. “Let’s get something to eat, I’m starving.”
Tara giggled as she proceeded to follow Willow into the restaurant, it took more than a few steps to reach the entrance of the bistro but they would get there, the blonde stopped with a glowing smile on her face when she saw that the redhead was holding the door open for her, silently and patiently waiting.
It was the cutest thing she ever saw, and the most adorable thing anyone has ever done for her. With a small half smile, Tara went into the opened door, the redhead following close behind.
*****
Sarah’s piercing eyes stared at the scene before of her; every part of her being was currently immersed in hatred and distaste, jealousy and envy washing through her entire body.
Her fist was clenched in a firm and taut ball as she continued to stand in the rain like a lonely and pathetic puppy—but with rabies and a really bad temper— a desolation filled anger enveloping her like a great blanket of madness, she could still feel the bruise on her chin from where Willow had knocked her out, her Willow, she still couldn’t believe it.
The woman's eyes flashed in fury, her dark colored orbs glowing in disgust, she could not believe that Willow had moved on without a care in the world that their relationship was over, she couldn’t let that happen, she wouldn't let that happen, she’d do anything in her power to stop it.
The brunette finally found the haven of cover, away from the falling and drizzling rain, her hair was dripping wet, her face deep in an fuming scowl, her body shivering in the cold wind, she stomped her foot in determination and proceeded to make her way to the restaurant.
Sarah got a couple of steps closer to the entrance of the dining hall when a large arm wrapped around her from behind, seemingly out of nowhere.
“Don’t even try it, Sarah.” A man sounded as he pulled the other girl into the alleys not far behind them, dark and gloomy shadows blocked any view of the intruders face.
Sarah swallowed her words when her whole body was shrouded in fear and alarm, strong hands grasping the lapels of her jacket strongly. The dark haired girl began squinting her eyes in the darkness as she tried to decipher the mysterious being that was preventing her from getting to Willow, she hated whoever it was.
“What the hell?!” Sarah cried out as she began thrashing and whipping away from the embrace, roughly shoving away whoever was in front of her, she didn’t appreciate it at all, she’d do just about anything to get away. “Let me go!”
“Sarah, stop it!” The mysterious man stepped out of the shadows at the exact spot the street light managed to shine its light at, providing a clear and unobstructed view of his dark features for Sarah to see, the other woman seemed to gasp in surprise when she saw who exactly was trying to avert her plans, she didn’t need this right now, she didn’t need this at all. “You need to move on from her before she puts a restraining order on you.”
“Brian, where the hell did you come from?” Sarah demanded forcefully, her face twisting in complete and utter abhorrence and revulsion. “And what I do with my life is none of your business whatsoever and it never will be.”
“The hell it is.” Brian grabbed Sarah strongly by her shoulders, glaring intently and closely into her eyes, his gaze piercing into hers. “I’m your brother and I worry about you, you NEED to leave Willow alone and let her live her own life, let her be.” He stated adamantly, not letting his sister off the hook. "You will get yourself into more and more trouble and I can’t let that happen.”
"Brian, please just..."
“You’re off the pills aren’t you? And you stopped seeing Dr. Andrews?” Brian prodded unyieldingly, an accusing tone assaulting him. “Sarah, you CAN’T be off the pills, maybe if you had told Willow about your condition when you two were still together she’d—“
“Brian, get away from me.” Sarah pulled away. “I don’t need this right now and I don’t need you.”
“I love you and I care about you.” Brian took a hold of his younger sister’s shoulder, clutching strongly, his dark colored orbs never leaving its hold onto similar chocolate brown depths, he needed eye contact in order for his sister to recognize him, to sense his presence. “And I’m telling you this…stay away from Willow, leave her alone and move on, she’s moved on why don’t you?” he told his sister, his hands clutching the brunette’s shoulders. “It’s the only way to let all of this go.”
Sarah just rolled her eyes.
“Sarah, can you just…” Brian watched as his sister brushed off everything that he was saying, the only thing he knew was that he needed to get through to her, he needed for her to understand every word he was trying to get out, sometimes force and determination did wonders in trying to get through to her. “Sarah, listen to me…come with me, come with me back to New York, we can see the Statue of Liberty, go to Times Square, brother and sister bonding, what do you say?”
“I…I don’t know…” Sarah hesitated as she looked back at the closed window of the local bistro; Willow was without a doubt at the other side. “I just need to…”
“Say that you’ll come.” Brian’s eyes pleaded. “Finally put all this behind you.”
Sarah sighed and crossed her arms over her chest, silently thinking it through, after a long moment of silence, she made up her mind.
*****
Willow and Tara discovered a perfect seat near a large window in the corner of the restaurant, they could see the stars above as the sky began to clear and the rain began to cease. Willow, like the gentle-woman she was, pulled a chair for Tara and one for herself, both girls smiling slightly in a sudden rush of embarrassment and shyness.
It seemed to come from thin air, they weren’t being too shy just outside moments ago, but now they were.
“So, what do you think is good to eat here?” Willow asked as she held the menu in her hands, her eyes searching the listings of food. She comfortably sat on the seat directly in front of Tara, loving the view she got from her place on the chair, she never tired of seeing Tara’s stunning face and sparkling blue eyes for a moment, she could stare into them forever if she had to, forever and a day. “I’m starving.” The redhead remarked, her hands rubbing her belly for emphasis. “How about you, Tara?”
“I’m famished.” Tara smiled at Willow, her half grin making Willow swoon even more than she already had, the blonde didn’t seem to realize the effect her the mere act of a smile had on the redhead, she never got the clue. If she did she’d probably smile every minute, a swooning redhead was always a good thing and she wanted more of it.
"Famished, huh?"
“And not just for the food.” The blonde’s voice dropped a pitch as she gazed longingly and lovingly into Willow’s jade depths, their kiss had stirred something deep inside her and she was fidgeting in her seat slightly as she anticipated even more of Willow’s affections.
“N-Not just the food?” Willow almost choked on her tongue.
The menu in her hands dropping to the tabletop underneath her in an instant of overwhelming sensation, her eyes wide in a sudden surge of lust and desire, her yearning and want only increasing tenfold when she felt Tara’s foot softly caress the side of her left leg.
It was surprising but in a very good way, the lush and long cloth that covered the apex of their table disguised any activity that may have been happening underneath them, an activity of desire.
“What else is there?” The redhead managed to ask even has her breathing became more and more rapid, gasping in arousal and excitement, all the while knowing the answer but wanting to here Tara say it, wanting to hear it out of the blonde’s mouth, wanting to hear anything.
“If there was Willow on the menu…” Tara blonde breathed out, her foot continuing its silent caress, inching upwards and downwards once again. "I'd definitely have that… and everything else in between, if you know what I mean." The blonde whispered softly, a sexy breath of words, driving Willow into utter madness with her ministrations.
Willow blushed.
“You know what I mean, don’t you?”
Willow blushed again.
“This pasta looks pretty good.” Tara began showing the menu to Willow, pointing out the picture of the particular pasta she wanted to order, it looked quite appetizing but not more appetizing than Willow appeared, she had a first taste of the redhead’s lips and she wanted more, it wasn’t in her personality and she never thought of doing such a bold thing on a first date, but she couldn’t help but think about it and there was no harm in just thinking, her mind was her haven. “What do you think?”
“Hmm…” Willow nodded her head appreciatively, gasping a bit when Tara’s foot went a little higher, the dish that Tara had presented her did indeed look inviting, completely delicious, it wasn’t just the pasta; it was so much more than that.
The mere image of it on the menu made her mouth water, not more than Tara’s lips did, but pretty darn close. The redhead stared at the small photo on her own menu and decided that she would have the same, she was starving and not just for the pasta, she was starving for something else, something right in front of her.
“You don’t mind if I have the same do you?”
“I don’t mind at all.” Tara smiled when she felt Willow begin a dance of her own; the blonde bit her bottom lip, her pink and plush tongue gently touching the edge of her lush flesh, moistening the tip of the fleshy mounds lightly and sensually, driving both of them wild, a feral growl emanated from Willow’s mind and soul, but it was never vocalized.
Tara swallowed her words at the physical touch, briefly looked down and then back up again, breathing a bit more heavily. “It’s freezing in here.” the blonde whispered as she shivered a bit in her seat, tiny chilly quivers shuddering throughout her body, she didn’t know if it was because of the cold or because of Willow but she began massaging her arms with her palms, attempting to warm herself. “I never should have gone in the rain... I really hate getting wet.”
“Are you sure about that?” Willow smirked, a small satisfied smile gracing her face. “Getting wet can be a good thing.”
“Yeah?” Tara smiled back, her foot having a mind of its own once again as Tara began to play footsie with Willow underneath the table, suddenly food wasn’t on the menu anymore, pasta be damned. “Tell me about it.”
“Well, I…”
“You ladies ready to order?” a waiter suddenly appeared, causing the redhead to swallow her words, never to be uttered. The young man tapped his small thin pen against his forehead lightly and waited patiently, giving the two women a small amused glance. “Any particular dish suits your fancy?”
“Ah…yes…” Tara nodded her head, smiling like nothing was happening, trying to act nonchalant. The blonde turned her head to the waiter beside them and gave him a large, beaming smile. "We would like this." she stated when she pointed to a picture in the menu. "This looks really..." Tara almost gasped when she felt Willow's leg rub on a certain sensitive spot, nearly dropping her menu to the ground. "Um...delicious..."
"Mmm Hmm..." he nodded his head and gave both girls a slight nod of his head. "Sounds great...and drinks?"
"We...I think...." Tara tried to say but she couldn't for the life of her find the much needed words, her voice drowing in her throat. "W-water sounds..."
The waiter began to frown, nodding his head slightly as he waited for an answer. "Ma'am?"
"Water sounds great." Willow finished for Tara, smiling brightly, acting as non-chalant as possible even though her body was screaming inside, her heart pounding, her brow damp with sweat, it wasn't cold or chilly in the room anymore, everything seemed really hot and damp. "All with the water." the redhead smiled again, catching the blonde's eye with hers, inhaling anotehr breath when she felt something underneath the the table. "Water sounds...heavenly."
"Ahh..." The waiter watched the scene in amusement, catching the clue. He sensed the passionate looks both women were sending each other, he noted the expression on both faces, he saw the tablecloth moving slightly, he saw it all. "Water it is." he smiled, nodding his head once more.
"Okay, thanks." Willow stated quickly, wanting the waiter to go away. "We're fine now."
"I'm sure you are." He muttered under his breath.
"What was that?" Tara popped her head up, not catching the words.
"Nothing." The waiter stated softly. "Just...have a great time and I hope you'll enjoy the food."
Willow and Tara both nodded, smiling brightly.
"Okay." The man smiled back, placing his pen behind his ears. He dipped his head a bit and turned away, he got a few steps in the other direction before halting in his steps, slowly returning his attention to Willow and Tara. "Oh...and ladies?"
Willow and Tara simultaneously turned to the waiter, still trying to act as nonchalant as possible, it didn't seem to be working all that well, the redhead's hands were visibly gripping the tabletop and the blonde was already beginning to sweat, their breathing tattered and frayed. Their antics and manners at the dinner table were becoming more and more frenzied by the second, unable to control themselves despite being in a public place.
"This is a family place." He stated matter of factly. "So you ladies try to keep it down, okay?" He warned the two women in a small amused smirk before heading back to take another order.
Willow and Tara's face became even redder than ever, a deep crimson-red shaded blush enveloping both their soft cheeks. Willow giggled slightly as she tried to hide her face with the menu in her hands while Tara nearly shrunk in her seat.
They were caught.
