Re: New Poem

Postby tiredsoul » Mon Aug 26, 2002 4:08 pm

Sneaking into my dreams is an adventurous, fun, rewarding, and very scary experience. Just don’t forget to keep all hands and feet inside the car at all times.

Don’t rewrite it. It seems to me that the first draft is always the best. I can rewrite a hundred times and I’ll still end up closer to the first draft. But maybe that’s just me. And if I ever attempt the poetry thing, I’m making sure to place the blame on your shoulders ;)

Hey Celia, so, can I buy a ticket into your dreams then, or do I have to sneak into them? I'll made a deal with you, you try and write a poem, and I'll post my Notre Dame one ;)

Tickets have just gone up :) No sneakin' into my dreams but the poem I have written will give you a sneak peek into my wonky mind.

Your turn. :grin

Now how can you say that was bad? It evoked a few feelings on my part but maybe that's because I was just at a memorial service for a newborn baby last night. :( It was so sad. In some ways, this reminded me of the eulogy. Probably not what you intended but then again, poetry is interpreted mostly by the reader, right?

I even posted my pitiful attempt yesterday so you can read it. It's called Destinies.

This wasn't bad, as you yourself know! When will you believe you have a talent! :D

I thought the words were very powerful and the imagery you used was fantastic.

I'm currently forcing myself to watch 'Seeing Red' so I can list what I need to buy on my shopping trip tomorrow. Chat to you soon!!

Poems

Postby Tulipp » Fri Aug 30, 2002 9:59 am

Hi. I've just been reading some of your poems, and I wanted to tell you so, and to say that I like what you're doing. I haven't read much of the poetry on the board, but I'm trying to change my fic-focused ways.

Anyway, I think my all-time favorite line of yours is when Willow (I assume, although I could be wrong) says that Tara is the "fulll stop of my sentence." How lovely and unexpected an image. That's always what I'm drawn to...an expression or an image that isn't usual, that comes as a surprise.

I also liked the way, in "Rose Petals," you had several images about writing...ghosts rising from the ink is the one I remember most. This poem also reminded me of Willow writing in her journal, and I guess that's why I see these poems as all coming from Willow's perspective.

Similarly, though, I like the image of the cage and the animals in "Control." You use the cage imagery so well; Willow is trapped inside, but she's also threatened from outside. This is lovely.

Thanks. I will be back to read some more.

I know I mentioned this last time, but you really do have a talent for imagery! This most recent poem also has a good rythm. I really got drawn into the words. Wonderful job!

Hiya guys, thanks for all your lovely comment, I will be back to reply fully individually, but I don't have long online today - need an early night (start my new job placement tomorrow, and a production of "Aida" ...incredibly scared) plus I can't stay online too much, trying to save my eyes ;)

-Celia, I will get to read your poem as soon as I get online again next time, I promise, sorry to hear about the funeral, I totally get the link between that and the poem though.

- B, hiya, watched 'Seeing Red' today too :(

-Tullip, great to see you hear!

- Ninjitsugrrl - thanks, you liked the imagery hey?

:grin ..... Cheesecake and mashed potatoes...mmmh, all I need now is Adam Busch to share them with.....*looks around* oops, did I really say that here???? :blush

I'd better start running away now before I have hoards of angry kittens running me out of town!

Edited to emphasise the Adam Busch NOT the character he plays! ;)
