In the next part, I loved seeing Willow work so diligently in trying to find Tara. I love seeing the hacker which we will probably never see again.

Lesbian Locator Spell (b)





I need a spell. Something simple but effective.
Tara thought as she distractedly made her way towards the Magic Shop.

Tara's golden hair hung loose past her shoulders and bounced with every purposeful stride. Her face was carved with tension and she bit the corner of her full bottom lip, obviously in deep thought.
My purple sock is there.Catnip is there. But no Kitty.It's been two days now. I've looked everywhere.Where could she possibly be?


The blonde witch was near the entrance of the Magic shop when she noticed two figures in the corner of her eye.

A teen-aged girl, possibly fifteen or sixteen, with long dark brown hair was backing away in fright from a stout, bald man.The bald man is apparently saying something that is upsetting the teenager.


Harassment.
Tara thought and found her feet walking fast towards their direction.

"Is this man bothering you?"

Dawn gasped in surprise as a blonde girl suddenly appeared to her right.She swung her eyes back to the crazy guy who was still staring at her with undisguised anger.

"Go back where you came from shiny girl! Hide! Before the Beast finds you and destroys us all!"The bald man hollered.

"I think you should leave."Tara said, stepping in front of Dawn, shielding her from the bald man's glare. Her stutter vanishing as felt a surge of protectiveness for the teenager.

When the bald guy lost eye contact with Dawn, he became listless and started shuffling his feet away from Tara, mumbling nonsensical things to himself.

Once Tara was sure that they are out of danger, she turned to Dawn and gave her a reassuring smile.

"You okay?"

Dawn nodded numbly at Tara.Whatever the man said obviously had shaken her.

"Hey."Tara reached out a hand and gently put it on Dawn's shoulder."Don't mind what he said. He's just a loony in need of a bin. Besides, should he come back to bother you again, I'll turn him into a hoppy toad."

Tara offered Dawn a little lopsided grin and Dawn couldn't help but smile back.

"You're a witch?That is like
so
cool.And um…thanks for uh, scaring him away."Dawn said and looked gratefully at Tara.

"No problem.I'm Tara.Shouldn't you be in school or somewhere where teenagers hang?"Tara said as she led Dawn towards the Magic Shop.

"I'm Dawn.And uh… I was just waiting for my sister to finish her training.She's inside the Magic Shop.I didn't want to get in her way again like the last time so I waited outside."

Dawn sat on a curb and looked so forlorn that Tara decided to chat some more.She gathered her long forest green skirt, and sat quietly beside Dawn.

"Dawn, like the early morning Dawn?I suspect people with such a cheery name are secretly cheery inside."Tara carefully glanced at the teenager who sunk into her own reverie.


Oops.I'm probably scaring her right now.I always forget jokes should have funny parts. Maybe I should go.
Tara thought warily and was about to get up when she heard Dawn sigh heavily.

"See.You're the first person in a long time who wondered how I am.And you don't even know me. I mean--nobody asks what
I
think.They don't think my opinion matters cuz I'm just a teenager. Everybody is so wrapped up with superhero Buffy, but I could
so
do something important if they let me."

Tara stared at the teenager.
Is Buffy a name?A superhero's name?
The blonde decided to remain quiet as she sensed that the teenager needed to rant some more.

"I just feel like…"Dawn looked up and found comfort in Tara's blue gaze."…like I don't even exist.That I don't matter you know?I'm just a
job
to Buffy.Someone she
had
to look after.Not because she wanted to."

Tara honestly didn't know what to say and didn't get a chance to say anything as a short, quick stepped blonde popped into view.

"Dawn! Geez.I told you to stay inside----the Magic Shop."Buffy paused as she stared at the stranger with Dawn.Tara felt she was being scrutinized under a microscope.There is something definitely lethal about the way Buffy clenched her jaw.
As if she is ready to spring on me should I endanger Dawn.


"Umm…Buffy, this is Tara.Tara this is my sister Buffy."Dawn turned to Buffy."Tara saved me from a crazy guy who was saying nasty things to me."

Buffy's calculating gaze softened somewhat."Thanks."Buffy said simply to Tara and turned to Dawn."Get inside the Magic Shop.Stay with Giles.I'm on the way to the house.Apparently Faith woke up from her coma."

When the night fell, Willow sat solemnly in the center of a drawn circle.

Incense burned the scent of sandalwood, engulfing the whole room.Several lit candles cast a warm orangey glow across Willow's features.A map of the UC Sunnydale campus lay before her.The redhead's eyes were shut and her face was set into a deep concentration.

"I implore you…Persephone," Willow lit a purple candle. "Aradia," She proceeded to light an orange candle."Sappho," Then she lit a red candle.

Willow placed the three burning candles on the edges of the UCS map, forming three points of a triangle.The flames instantly grew higher and danced at Willow's incantation.

"Women desiring women. Women loving women. Unveil before me Oh Persephone, Aradia, and Sappho, the hearts of these women. Wherever they may be."

Willow dug her hand into a pouch and carefully scooped some blue powder from it.She repeated her incantation twice and gently blew the powder on the UC Sunnydale map.

For several minutes, Willow watched entranced as the powder swirled in a concentrated circle at the center of the map like a tiny tornado.The powder mystically glowed into embers and shifted into the hue of bright vermilion.After several more swirls the powder spread out and fluttered over the map of UCS like a falling blanket.

Willow blinked her eyes from her trance and saw several spots gradually forming on the map.Some red dots were moving.Some stayed in rooms, in the library or in the canteen.Willow felt an impish grin grow on her face as she saw two dots overlapping in a certain dorm room not far away from her.


Wow. Who would've thought roomies Romy and Michelle are not as straight as they seem.


Willow continued to watch in fascination as small words appeared beside each dot.Some were labeled
In the Closet
, others were labeled as
Large with the Butch
,
Gay Now
or
Still Figuring it Out
.

The redhead stopped herself from giggling out loud as several other women in her hall were
outed
by her spell.But her face suddenly grew serious when she saw a dot occupying Room 214 of Stevenson Hall.Her eyes flew open wide as she read the words
Gay Now
beside the dot.


I'm Gay Now?! Shouldn't I have passed several more Sapphic tests in order to be validated as gay?Am I really gay now?


Willow knit her auburn brows together and didn't know how she felt about this.Her confusion was cut short when she saw a dot approaching her room.


Omigod! Omigod! Is that her?!Oh please please let that be her!
Willow's heart raced and felt it thud against her rib cage. She smoothed her hair and adjusted her peasant top as she glanced apprehensively at the dot nearing her doorstep.Beside the dot appeared the words:
Big Leather Dyke
.


Hey, my Cinderella's no leather dyke!
Willow thought and worry streaked her face as her door swung open.

"Buffy?!" Willow gasped.

"Re--I mean Willow."The short blonde swaggered in and stared at Willow's stricken face and the UCS map on the floor.

Oh, Sleek--You funny, irreverent creature! "Is Buffy a name? A superhero's name?" Thank you for giving voice to what all of us have wondered...



And oh, what a great nuance in the Lesbian Locator Spell to have little sub-species ID tags beside the dots! And now with our favorite Leather Lover showing up in Buffy's body...I can only imagine what's going on in Willow's mind as she stares at "Buffy," thinking she's gay...And a leather dyke, no less!



I've often wondered what the world would look like if everyone who was lesbian turned blue for a day: the surprises, the confirmations, the hopes built and crushed...And now you've given us a taste of that universe!



On a more serious note, I really resonate with how Tara, as you depict her, loses her stutter in times of great conviction, and she is certainly passionate in her defense of others. You just have a really deft touch w/ your characters, and I enjoy this fic so much!

It was also nice to see the Tara, Dawn connection. Initially on Buffy, I couldn't stand the character of Dawn, but through her interactions with Tara, I started to think that she was actually quite sweet, especially in SR. I somehow, feel that it will be through Dawn that T/W will meet each other again hmmmm?

Yay, I had 3 updates to catch up on. I wasn't that anxious when Fate decreed Willow and Tara were on their own. I had faith (heh!) in Willow, knowing how resourceful she could be. Oh my that spell was fun - the little descriptions!



I like how you got Tara to meet up with Dawn. Its typical of Tara's caring nature that she'd assist Dawn, and that she's worried about the cat.

Ooh! Somebody called me irreverent. I am pleased. I am really just a goof who decided to use Buffy characters as pawns (maniacal laugh). Actually, the little labels in my Lesbian Locator Spell were inspired by Harry Potter's Marauder's Map. And I thought it'd be interesting if I put ID's of lesbian sub species (as you aptly put) beside the dots. Yeah, Willow is definitely boggled at the sight of "Buffy" and the word "Leather Dyke" put together

I thought it was a good strategy too… Gives W/T goodness. Can’t be a bad thing. The bad thing is that IMHO, as soon as those two set eye on each other, they are drawn to each other. Which would indeed eventually lead to the events we all know and dread. So to prevent that… You wouldn’t keep them away from each other for
2 whole years
now, would you???





Loved the whole tapestry image. As an Ancient Greece and mythology fiend myself, I love the idea of the 3 Fates. Clotho, who spins the thread of life, Lechesis, who measures the thread of life and Atropos who cuts the thread of life. I think they could tie in together quite well.

On a sad note, no more sneaky cat to the rescue…






Part 13 - Lesbian Locator Spell


I’ll say the same thing as many before me have already said (that’s what you get for being quiet for such a long time, I suppose… it’s only fair): we’ve all wished for one of those indeed!! Gaydar’s not always reliable. And not all of us have been graced with its powers. I, for one…

Clueless Buffy… You gotta love her! If only her Spider sense worked on humans, we’d have avoided many misunderstandings!

Willow – Research gal extraordinaire: Trust Willow to research THAT!!

Although she seemed OK with the practice even before passing the theory test!!!



I really enjoyed the way Tara and Dawn meet – you kept most of the canon scene with the crazy guy but it’s actually quite fitting in your fic that those two meet then and “click” automatically. Good characterisation too… Whinge Dawn…

The whole spell was hilarious – the labels, the comments Willow made

Summary:
Willow makes a wish to Fate so that her life will be reset the day she met Tara.Willow hopes to find Tara even without the help of Fate and that the change of events will eradicate Tara's fated early demise. Fate sends a minion named Serendipity to assist the witches.With the help of Serendipity, Tara and Willow 'bump' into each other and had a one-night stand.Willow is determined to locate the blonde vixen and used a Lesbian Locator Spell.The spell went well but it made Willow realize things she was not prepared for.

"Buffy?!" Willow gasped.

"Re--I mean Willow."The short blonde swaggered in and stared at Willow's stricken face and the UCS map on the floor.

Willow's eyes bulged from their sockets and regarded Buffy as if she was seeing her for the first time.

"Wasamatter Willow?You look wicked freaked."Buffy stepped further into the room. "And what's that funky smell and that map doing on the floor?"

The redhead continued to gawk at her best friend, barely registering what she said.Her mind's many wheels and cogs were busily turning and churning.


Buffy? Leather Dyke? What about Angel-Scott-Parker-Riley?Maybe she is changing like me.But, but she's just no dyke. I mean she's Big Leather Dyke.It takes time to accumulate into bigness of dykeness proportions, right?I mean Buffy being gay is like discovering the sun shines at night, which is a useless analogy, and I should--


"Willow."Buffy's voice rang in her ear.The Slayer was now directly in front of her.She was glancing at the map on the floor."What the hell are you doing?"

That snapped Willow from her trance and she muttered the word "Disappear."The dots and the labels on the map dissolved into nothing and the flames of the three ritual candles died into wispy smokes.

"Buffy!What a surprise. Do, do you want to tell me something? Uhh…I mean. Any changes, you are… inexplicably experiencing?"Willow's voice was unusually high pitched and edgy.She was nervously toying with the gauzy material of her top, twisting it into agitated knots.

Buffy's gaze narrowed and regarded Willow warily.
Maybe she knows?


Willow continued to study Buffy's face.

"I need your help." Buffy decided to let her worry slide. "I want you to resurrect the Mayor."

"What?!"Willow sprang up surprised and stood to face Buffy.
Has she gone loony?Did she sniffed a buncha drugs?
Willow could have not been more surprised if Buffy confessed she was gay.

"Buffy.We burned him.He was bad and better off bad and dead."

The Slayer's hand swiftly struck Willow across her face.The redhead's head whipped back from the impact.Stunned, Willow lifted a trembling hand and touched her left cheek that stung painfully.

"Take back what you said."Buffy's eyes glazed with manic fury.Her voice was as thin as the sharp edge of a knife.She did not sound like Buffy at all.

For the first time since Buffy entered her room, Willow felt petrified.


She's not Buffy.
Willow croaked in her mind.

As if reading her thoughts, a slow sultry smile stretched menacingly across Buffy's lips.She slithered her way nearer Willow's body and placed her hands on each of the redhead's shoulder.

"Maybe I was a bit harsh.I'll be more polite this time."Buffy said, slowly sneaking out her tongue and lazily ran it across her upper lip.She leaned her face, uncomfortably close to Willow's.Warming Willow's face with her breath.

"Red." Buffy said, her voice dipping low as she traced her fingertips across Willow's cheek that she recently slapped."I want you.To resurrect. The mayor."Buffy looked hungrily at Willow's lips, which are now parted and quivering in fright.


Eww!
Willow inwardly recoiled in disgust.
Buffy is trying to seduce me. Buffy!My best friend!Buffy…who called me…Red.


Willow stared and recognized the smirk on the blonde's face.

"Faith."Willow whispered.

Buffy's face smiled in acknowledgement.The Slayer dropped her hands to Willow's sides and grabbed the redhead's wrists.Willow tried to bolt away but the Slayer yanked her and gripped her hands,
hard
.

"Oww…" Willow whimpered, closing her eyes as a flash of pain shot upwards.She opened her green eyes and stared evenly at Faith."Where's Buffy?What are going to do to me?"

"B is gone." Faith said forcefully twisting Willow's body around.The redhead stopped herself from crying out."As for you, I'm going to tie you up.Coma's a bitch.Made me hungry.And I've been hungry for a
long
time Red."
