Fic: The Binding

Postby WiccansIllusion » Fri Apr 05, 2002 12:21 pm

Disclaimer: Mutant Enemy, Joss and UPN own the characters. I simply borrowed them and hope to return them in better state then they where left.

Rating: R, due to heavy depression and later on NC-17, for some WT goodness

Summary: After Willow lapses back into magic, Tara has to find it in her heart to bind her lover from hurting herself, and those they love.

Thanks: Ruth, Maria and Garner for advice and inspiration.

Warning: Heavy Angst but they’ll be together eventually. Remember they always find one another.

Alright, much to the chagrin of my beta readers this is gonna go up un betated.

The Binding

Chapter One: Lapses

Willow was sick. Not throwing up kind of sick, and that entail doctor’s visits and such, but sick as in a heartache. It had been two weeks since Tara left her, and she’d given up the magic cold turkey. Two weeks since she’d last slept. And two weeks since she’d cast. The very thought of magic made her break out into a cold sweat, and now here she was, sitting in a corner of the Magic Box, literally being treated like a baby by all of her friends.

“..I’m telling you, there was one female Smurf. One, just one! And millions of other little blue bastards roaming around- “Xander was deep in the middle of one of his theories on Smurf reproduction. She’d heard all of them, from the Gremlin one, to a busy Papa Smurf one. “There actually was a baby Smurf that was a girl.” Dawn pitched in, trying vainly to be seen as an equal. “But a baby still, which means she was produced, by who? Smurfette!” It was a slow day, as far as Scooby business, or even Magic Box business for that matter. Willow sighed, zoning out of the topic at hand. If only she had something to read, something to do. But no, she wasn’t allowed to touch a single thing in the place. Finally, sick of all the waiting around and doing nothing, she got up and grabbed her jacket. “And your going where, with who and what time will you be back?” She was sick of the twenty questions she got from Buffy every time she set foot out their site. “I’m going home, getting undressed, taking a bath, and going to bed, and I’ll be there when you get back.” It was said through gritted teeth as she all but slammed the door on her way out.

Buffy sighed. It was hard, intervening with her best friend, but truth be told, she really didn’t trust Willow that much anymore. “Do you think we should let her go alone? What if she encounters something, we all have even in daylight. Shouldn’t you go with her? “ Anya was badgering again, and Xander just gave her that look. “I think she needs some space, and so do I.” Buffy sighed as she sat at the main table, running lithe digits through her short -cropped hair. “Besides, there isn’t anything in the house anymore, and we watched her like a hawk while she was here.” Xander only nodded to Buffy words, desperately wanting to change the subject from his best friend’s recovery, and cast a look at silent Dawn. “So, two female Smurf’s right?”

Willow was glad to be alone for once. Being alone meant she had time to think, and do all the things a person does only when one was alone. It had actually been a long time since she’d had real alone time. After she took a shower, she changed into flannel pajamas and a bathrobe and had curled up on the couch in the living room, waiting for the water to boil for tea. When she used to cast, she could have tea in an instant. Now it took forever, like everything else in her life. She used to do a lot of things more quickly then she could now, including getting dressed, and showered. After what seemed an eternity the redhead got up and filled her mug with the boiling water, and clutched the counter as she waited for the loose apricot tea to steep. All this waiting was making her nervous, she thought as she clutched at the kitchen counter until her knuckles had turned white. Why is it so hard Tara? Why is it so hard without you? It was the last thought she had before she lapsed, and cast to steep the mug, and clean up her mess.

You've got some great ideas here, and there's a definite knowledge of the characters and the issues running through your fic.

The paragraphs seem really long though, so you might want to think about breaking them up a bit more in your next part. Also, sometimes one line can make a paragraph stand out, if it's something you want to emphasize.

I know you sent this to me but I couldn't open it, heh. Maybe next time?

I tried sending it to your other account via cut and paste. Maybe with the next part?

If it's word you're writing in, then just attach it to the email as a word doc.

Otherwise, cut and paste should do the trick, yeah. :)

Update: See above for dislaimers.

-------------------------------------------------

Willow was curled up in the corner of the kitchen, her eyes coal black and she was shaking from the amount of power now within the house. In some ways, she looked like a caged animal, so hurt and alone. She'd been doing so well, and now she wasn't. God she hated this , she thought as her head banged back against the wall in a weak attempt to change her eyes back. Showering. Showering always helped, and she vainly attempted to get herself up.

Some, how she had managed to get herself upstairs and was now in the shower sobbing. The magick was everywhere at once, inside of her, around her. None of the others would be able to tell she'd cast, if she hid it well enough. She could, couldn't she? The ex witch even babbled in her mind when she was nervous. How pathetic was that? Willow shook the negative thoughts out of her mind, and started to cast, to conceal the magick. She knew it wouldn't last long, but she had to hide it. What if Tara came over? That very thought made the redhead's mind reel. If Tara came over, she would sense the spells, she would know Willow had relapsed. Finally, after much debate and babble she picked up the phone and called the Magic Box. It only seemed the right thing to do.

" Alright I'll be home as soon as I can, just hold on alright Will?" Buffys' voice sounded slightly panicked as she talked to her best friend. Willow had cast, and the Slayer knew it was her fault for letting the redhead go home alone.

Xander sighed as he listened to the tale end of Buffy's conversation with Willow. He should have gone with her, done something to make sure Willow would have been ok alone. But really, what could he have done? He didn't understand any of the Hocus Pocus Voodoo that Willow and Tara did, or even Giles and Anya to an extent. In a way, it frightened him to no end, the dark magicks Willow had been using, that they all used to bring Buffy back from the dead. But there wasn't anything to be done now except be there for Willow and try to help her through this.

It was with those thoughts that a heavy silence filled the Magic Box as Buffy hung up the phone. " She did it again didn't she? After everything, after Tara left she still cast?" Anya was the only one who spoke, often taking the wrong moments to say the wrong things. Dawns face was crest fallen as she all but told Anya to shut up. "Would you just stop? I hate this, why is it always about her?" Dawn had been angry the entire time. Angry that everyone was giving Willow so much slack for what she did. Angry that Tara had left her like everyone else had. "Dawn.."Buffy said it with that tone she got, that annoyed tone. It did shut the teen up though, and she just glared, crossing her non-broken arm across her chest, hugging herself slightly.'Why did everything have to turn out so dark'?

Cliffhanger Warning

here's the re-beta'd version.

Part Two: Debates

The art history lecture on Western Technique should have been interesting to

Tara. It was the kind of thing she had always loved, but at the moment all

she could do was stare out the window. She couldn't stop thinking about

Willow lately, no matter how angry she had been. She had so many doubts. Had she done the right thing? Should she have stayed and helped Willow? Maybe if she had, Dawnie wouldn't have gotten hurt. She sighed as the lecture was finished and she finally got up to go to her room.

Her room -mate Sara was never home, she always stayed at her boyfriends dorm which was just fine with Tara; it gave her more privacy then she could ask

for. The blonde was so lost in thought that she almost missed the phone

ringing as she fumbled with her keys and raced to answer.

“H-hello?” The stutter was back at full force. It hadn’t really been present since the Scoobies had stood up to her family at her birthday. It seemed to die then, when she had started having more confidence in herself. It had returned though , the very night she had left Willow, and she hated it.

“Tara?” Its’ Buffy. She- she lapsed and I think, well, maybe you'd better come over. That is if it’s not too hard. Willow locked herself in her room so you probably won't see her if that helps." Tara sighed into the phone. A part of her wanted to run over there and wrap her arms around Willow, to tell her everything would be ok. That part would be her heart. It was her head that told her no. That if she did end up going, she would have to stay away, and that would be possibly the hardest thing she had ever done.

“Anya she-she suggested that we bind Willow.” Tara still hadn't said anything and that actually worried Buffy. It worried her to no end, and she felt awful for even bringing up the topic to Tara.

“I-I’ll c-come over.” She sighed at the stutter that just wouldn't go away, and hung up before she could change her mind.

"She's coming." That had to have been the best news Dawn heard all day. The

teen was angry, and no one seemed to care about her, aside from the fact that

Willow had gotten them physically hurt. "I got what she'll need from the shop

already. It's not a terribly difficult spell, it just needs two reasons. I mean, one being that if she’s going to hurt herself, or another person. And she already hurt Dawn right?” Anya was actually excited to do this, which was sickening Xander to no end.

Willow was pacing, and Willow never paced. She was also sweaty, and pale as a sheet. Tara was here. She could sense her ex girlfriend a mile away, and this was much closer then a mile. Someone had called Tara. It was probably Dawn. Dawn always wanted to get involved in other peoples’ business.

She was caught between a rock, and a hard place, at least in her own point of view which lately seemed to matter less and less to everyone. As she saw it she had two choices. One was that she could go downstairs and act like nothing happened. But after the phone call to the Magic Box that was impossible. Her second was that she could cast another spell. The forget spells she’d used in the past had been of her own making and hadn’t worked very well. But there was one she knew would work. It dealt with multi dimensions. It would be risky without an anchor. Her third option though would be to sit back and do nothing. To try and get better, but without Tara, she wasn’t sure she could.

Well writing didn't happen. And I had one class dropped with a W, and of course its math. Why can't I have a certain redhead help me with math?

Anyways. I'm telling myself to write tonight, even if one should have to tell themselves, it is a good stess reliever right?

I know of a few other stress relievers..but none are happening anytime soon either so this author is gonna stop her moaning and go into writting mode.

Re: Fic: The Binding

Postby WiccansIllusion » Fri Apr 26, 2002 11:08 pm

Alright, after a long hiatus, I've gone back to writing. So here's a small, small and very cliffhangy update. You've been warned.

Part Two: Reflections

A part of Tara couldn’t believe that she was standing in front of her dorm, waiting for Xander to pick her up. That part was the part that still really didn’t want to admit that Willow had gotten as bad as she did with the magick. It was the part that was telling her to go back to Willow and help.

The car ride was rather uncomfortable, since she never really knew what to say around Xander. He seemed as pensive as she felt. Both hands in the 9 and 5 position on the steering wheel, his gaze straight ahead.

“Do you really think solving voodoo problems with, well more voodoo is the answer here Tara?” His voice was forced, as if he was trying to keep his own calm about the situation. “N-no…I don’t. But she’s hurting other people, and herself. T-there are certain rules to binding a person, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be magickal.”

Xander had to admit that he didn’t understand the whole magick thing. But what he did know, was that someone he loved deeply, and not in a prison loving kind of way, was in danger. The two rode the rest of the way in silence and Tara didn't even mention the fact that Xander had blown almost every stop sign on the way home, she just prayed to the Goddess that they had made it in one peice.

“See, you can get a lock of hair, or, a picture, even nail clippings. We used to wrap those in blood larvae.”

Anya was cut off by a rather curt “Ahn.” As Xander walked in the house with Tara. It was his usual tone, telling her silently to shut up. Tara really couldn’t believe they had all been reduced to this. To binding one of the Scoobies from hurting another, or herself. Willow was up in their room, locked in, like some caged animal.

“I want to see her.” The blonde surprised herself by getting the words out without stuttering. She surprised everyone even more when, instead of waiting for a response, she headed up to their room with the skeleton key.
