Re: Dark magic eyes

Postby Katharyn » Mon Jun 24, 2002 10:15 pm

I don;t think the DM eyes showed in Becoming I think that was just Willow in full manic eyes mode*S* I thought it was S5 that we saw her like that for the first time

Perhaps I am wrong though.

I always thought the dark eyes in Afterlife were indicating that she was breaking away from joint spellcasting there into her own individual thang. The way they make her look like a doll sugests a kind of loss of personality.

There was something magicky about W's eyes in "Something Blue" when she does the "let my will be done" spell post-Oz. I don't think they are the full DM eyes, more red pinpricks in the middle, but it's a start.

The magical eyes in Something Blue were more of a flash. I think it was a representation of the circle of candles that were crackling with energy when she did the "will it so" spell. In her pajamas. Heh.

story idea

Postby La » Wed Jun 26, 2002 12:25 am

i'm contemplating writing a fic, and I was wondering if anyone had ever written an AU "Willow the Vampire Slayer"-type thing, where she's the chosen one. I have a bunch of ideas floating around in my head, but if someone's already attempted something like that, I wouldn't want to think I'm all original and then find out I wasn't :)

To save time you could try the "Search" function, though I'm sure some obsessed person has read each and every fic on this Board and could tell you.

Speaking of which, is there a link to the fabled "biker fic" or is it posted elsewhere?

Obsessed fic addict Molly reporting to answer your query La!

I haven't read anything like this. Lisa of Nine (I think) had a story where Willow had Slayer-like powers for a little while because of a spell she and Tara did, but no Willow the Chosen One, that I recall.

Could be interesting. And I presume of course that the Chosen One would meet her soulmate Tara.

Of course I haven't read every single fic here - just most of them

nah, I thought I'd have my Willow fall madly in love with Riley, since he's everyone's favorite character ;)

Thanks Molly :) Now we'll see if I can actually get my butt in gear and try writing this. If it turns out halfway decent, maybe I'll even let y'all look at it :D

Willow The Vampire Slayer

Damn. I'm sure I've read this fic. Let me check my old bookmarks and see if I can find it. I believe it was on the same site as a story where Buffy is Buff, Angel is Angela, Willow is William, Xander is Alexandra, Rupert Giles is Roberta, etc. But I'm not sure...

There are a couple stories with this theme out there, but none of them that I've found are Willow/Tara stories. They're set earlier in the series. Here are URLs for two of them:

http://fanfic.wsrcenter.net/WILLOW2.html

http://willowfanfic.virtualave.net/willowvamp.htm

I'd say go for it. It's an interesting theme and I'd like to read a story about their relationship in a world where Willow is the vampire slayer. It would be interesting to see how she interacts with Buffy whether or not Buffy is the slayer in this world, that is if Willow didn't become the slayer through Buffy's death. There are also many opportunities for new ways for Willow and Tara to meet.

la even if someone has done a 'Willow the Slayer' story thats no reason not to do yours. Your take will be different from whatever someone else wrote, and it is nearly impossible to come up with a completely new idea, however outrageous somebody else will have thought of it. It's not having an idea no one has ever had its taking an idea and writing it the best you can. Just go for it! :)

Willow: ...I have to tell you....

Tara: No, I understand you have to be with the
person you l-love

Willow: I am

yeah what Kath said, i'm already looking forward to *Willow the Vampire Slayer* now.... just keep her with Tara always please. no poofy vampires with souls, two poofed up vampires with souls now, or beefy cardboards (though i did like Riley, just not the acting).

but like it was paosted on my thread, i have faith (autumn, can i have her now?) and it cant hurt to try.

Some story ideas of mine...

Postby CaptMurdock » Thu Jun 27, 2002 12:55 am

I'm not sure whether to continue my current story, Sidekicks' Holiday, or not. I've basically told the "punchline" where the four of them meet in the hallway. I could have them eat breakfast together, but...

I have another idea, a sort of prequel to Four Months After, which covers the time Willow was missing all that time. It focuses on Tara living with Buffy and Dawn, drawing closer to the two of them, giving and receiving mutual support. The problem is that it doesn't precisely fit the criteria of fiction for this board. I may try to post it on a different board, then (with permission of the mods) link to the story here.

I'm also working out the plotline of my AU-Trek story. Basically, Willow is going to be a TOS-era science officer tossed into the TNG era, where an assistant ship's counselor (Tara) is assigned to help her adjust. Since all the other characters are going to be original (I'm not using any established Trek characters) this may be my most complicated story yet.

Capt Murdock, I'm relatively new to the board, so this may not count for much, but wouldn't flashbacks and memories count as W/T together while Willow is missing? Maybe that's a general question for others to answer, too...

Of course, I mean doing those things with the promise of getting W/T back together in the end.

I think what you're describing sounds great; I hope you write it.

Why does Willow love Tara?

Postby darkmagicwillow » Fri Jun 28, 2002 12:29 pm

I know that the question may seem obvious, but as I was thinking about how they first met, I had some questions. Tara is shy, attractive, and shares an interest in magic with Willow and their first meeting is a very intense experience, but what if they didn't meet that way so there was no initial drama and Willow hadn't seen Tara. If Willow wrote a personal ad after Oz left, knowing that she was attracted to women, what would she be looking for and how closely would Tara match her desires? If Tara read Willow's ad, would she think that it fit her?

Some of you may recall a few months back a thread on the Kitten speculating what if Willow and Tara were actual comic-book style superheroes- it was a fun read and really sparked my imagination, and I wound up creating Madam Tarot and The Kitten, the resulting story and character outlines ending up here on the Pens board. After some positive feedback here, and a bit of prodding from my friends, I was actualy gearing up to take a crack at writing their adventures.

Then Seeing Red happened.

As you can imagine, that took a lot of the wind from my sails.

But then people started saying they are ours now, and while it took some time for that to sink in with me, it began to inspire me, but in a direction I had'nt expected-

Taking a cue from the Board Philosophy, I've decided to make Madam Tarot and The Kitten mine, *really* mine, by attempting to go "pro" with them, either as novels, or as short stories; I'm not really concerned if they will be published by the mainstream or the independant press, I'm not even really thinking *that* far ahead.

I just want to write the stories.

And those that know me know I always use friends or actors as templates for my original characters anyway, so in my my heart and mind, Aly and Amber are still "cast" as the leads.

The names will be changed, but they will always be Willow and Tara.

And they will *still* always find each other.

Frankly, I'm both excited and scared to death, hoping I'm not yet again getting myself in over my head.

And I do'nt know if this is the proper place to put this, but even if it is'nt, I hope the Board Mods will let it stand for a little bit before locking it or deleating it, as I sure could use some words of encouragement!

Guy.

A point I don't think that has ever came out but do we reckon that Donny was Tara's younger or older brother and do we think she has any other siblings?

That phrasing usually indicates older brother.

as far as siblings

Postby Rane018 » Tue Jul 02, 2002 6:45 pm

they wouldn't have gone as far as to dub in amber saying *cousin beth* in the show when we see beth just to show that she is actually a cousin and not a sister to Tara. I think the shooting script describes her as a cousin but the line was just *beth*. it's obvious they wanted the audience to know there was a disticion between the two. plus, they wouldn't have brought a cousin instead of a true sister i'd think.

Re: as far as siblings

Postby Katharyn » Tue Jul 02, 2002 11:37 pm

Ummm yeah this was something that got me too last year when I was writing. Donny is definitely older however the show leaves it, technically, open as to whether there are others.

As a story point I used that opening to suggest that Tara had younger brother(s) too. I forget the precise line but it is one to the effect that tara had to look after her brother when her mother died. This implied a younger brother.

Actually I changed my mind though and now just see that there is Donny.

If you need other siblings for a story I think it can be justified from the ep lines which are inconclusive (brothers only though) but I think the weight of evidence is 99% behind Donny being the only one.

Initially when I saw Tough Love, I thought that when Tara said "I had to deal with my brother's problems", that she said "brothers" plural. But I later re-evaluated, and decided there was just Donny.. Anyway, I hate to think of Tara having more brutes to bully her.
