Thanks to xita and the other mods for getting the board fixed and for keeping us informed via the old board.

Greatly appreciated, y'all!!

The problem appeared to be the chat mod, the chat is working but you can't see the users chatting. I will try to look into getting that back up, but no guarantees.

This is perhaps a stupid question, but for people in the U.S. that recognize daylight savings... do you need to change the GMT- time in your profile to get the correct time after the change, or something else? I'm thinking I'm seeing posts that are being posted an hour off, which would indicate a daylight savings prob, but maybe they're just really an hour off. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. :)

ETA Apparently I started a thread on this very issue last time DS changed (oh I've been away too long)! Xita, is this indeed something you guys change? Seemed to be the case last time... (And again, I might just be an idiot and not seeing time right cause, you know, idiot.) *le sigh

Heather,

I just edit my profile and manually change the time thingy. I move it up or back an hour as appropriate.

But that's just me. Perhaps the mods know a little magic.

Hello, Lovely Mods.

A few of us were wondering whether there is a setting we are not seeing in the Private Messaging area? We wondered whether we should be ticking a box somewhere so that the message that we are replying to would appear below our reply box, like it does when we reply to a thread?

I can never remember to what I am replying, by the time I get to typing!

If it's not a setting, is this something that could be tweaked relatively easily, or are we asking for the moon on a stick?

Please forgive me if this has been answered before, I'm relatively new here. If that is the case, perhaps you could direct me to the previous answer?

Thank you!

There's no setting or anything that I know of, but if you click on "Quote" instead of "Reply" it will automatically take you to a reply with the original PM already quoted inside the box.

You know what I do, though? I almost always compose my replies to posts or PMs in Notepad. That way I've got both the post/PM and the Notepad window on screen at the same time. Makes it super-easy. I started doing this a long time ago when there was an issue with ezboard or Novogate (where we used to be before coming here) and it liked to eat replies. You'd type up a nice big response to something, click "Send" and it would just go poof. That only had to happen to me once, when I'd put a lot of time and thought into a post and then lost it, before I started doing the Notepad thing. I was typing my post up in Notepad, copying and pasting it into a reply, and waiting to make sure it actually posted before I closed Notepad. It's become a habit now and I do it for board posts, PMs, emails, pretty much everything.

Got a quick question. Any thought about implimenting the quick reply box at the end of each thread. Just something that crossed my mind going from my VW sites to here. Smiles. =)

I guess I'll just stick to hitting Quote, or copying and pasting, or typing it in Notepad first. I was just surprised, that's all. Considering the rest of the board is so slick and uniform, the omission of the message below the reply box seemed odd...

Thanks anyway, guys :-D

Help! I can't post! :fit2 I've been trying to post my review of X3 since last Thursday, and it wont let me! I keep getting 'internal server error' when I press either preview or submit. I'm not doing anything differently, as far as I can tell. HELP, I'm going crazy here! :angry

I don't even know if it will let me post this...

ETA: Ok, it let me post that. Do posts have a character limit or something? Cos I was trying to post a very very long review... :hmm

Try breaking it into two parts, Sasha. See if that will help.

Posting a picture issue

Hey everyone. I am having an issue trying to post a picture. I have the picture up on Yahoo Photo album, but when I use the image tool thing, it won't show up. I know you have to have the pic online, which I do, so what's up with this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Willow~Rosenberg, it's yahoo's fault cos it doesn't allow hotlinking (showing the picture on another site - this board, for example). You can link *to* the picture, but can't display the pic in the thread. If you want, you can try some other host that allows hotlinking, like photobucket.com.

Hope it helped! :flower

Download the pic onto your desktop or a temp folder. Edit your profile, select the "Upload Avatar from your machine" option, making sure the pic is 100x100px. The avatar will be saved on this site.

Is anyone else noticing posts disappearing? :hmm
Well, actually it's not so much that they're disappearing, just that when you load a page they're not showing, but then if you reload the page they're there again. :confused

I'm not sure if it's a board problem, or just my comp being weird.

Out of the blue, I'm getting emails saying there are responses to threads I've posted in. I've checked and double checked my profile and it is not checked yes to notify me. The only check is for PM's. How can this be fixed. I really don't need that many emails.

Thanks

The only thing I can think of is "Watch this topic for replies" has been clicked. It's usually at the end of a page on a thread. If it's selected, it'll then say "Stop watching this topic." And you click that to stop "watching" the topic.

Is it just me, or do the three rotating/animated GIFs at the bottom of the page above the yellow letters that say "W/T Love 24/7 Since July 2000" appear as broken images?

They are working for me.

ETA - a few minutes later to say that they are not working now (and the one at the top is missing too)

Are they still there if you hit refresh, Kyo? I also just noticed that for me the header/banner image is missing. I wonder if it's something I did.

They are missing now :happy

This is the message if you right click to view them:

The page you have requested was not found on this server. That could be caused by several things:

* The URL you were trying to retrieve was mistyped

* The URL used to exist but has been changed

* The customer account has been removed
