Help? Unable to change profile.

Postby mangled_monkey » Fri Nov 24, 2006 10:51 pm

I've tried to change my signature and add an avitar a couple times over the past few days, maybe a week. Every time I do, I get a "403 Forbidden"

The page says in big letters at the top "Forbidden" and then below that the message
"You don't have permission to access /board/profile.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. "

No matter what I do (enter my password, change other things as well, log out and log back in, refresh the connection, log out, close the window, log back in... etc) I can't get it to work.

How can I change my sig and avitar?

1- what browser are you using? I'm doing it with Firefox and everything works

2- accessing internet through a router, a proxy or a firewall? that could just be it.

3- have you tried clearing the cache and temprorary files off your browser? sometimes that fixes everything too. and its easy to do:
IE6: Tools >> Options >> General tab
click on Delete cookies and delete files
Firefox: Tools >> Options >> Private settings
erase the cache and the cookies

If that doesnt work either, well then i cant help you ^^

I'm using Firefox. I tried IE also and it doesn't work there, I get the same message. And I tried everything you said, still not working.

I really don't get it, because it was working fine like... a month ago, and now it's not. Is there something wrong with my account or something?

There was one other account this was happening to. I'm not sure if xita ever figured it out. I'm sure she'll get back to you soon (ish).

There seems to be a problem with freeweb addresses. If you put in a URL that includes the freeweb address, it will make your profile, uneditable and useless. If you put it in a post or a PM, the post will not post. I don't know the reason and I can't really imagine why.

The solution is to create a tiny URL for your website and use that instead of the long address.

Mangled Monkey, I've taken the liberty of changing your website in your profile and sig, you should be able to edit again.

This is the tiny url I made for you:
