New chat room!

Hey, Kittens!

Xita and I have integrated a new chat room into the Kitten Board (at a rather ungodly hour of the night).

It's very simple to use. Just click the chat room link near the top banner and enter your chatting nickname at the login screen. You can set your time zone, too, if you want accurate timestamps in your chat.

The chat room is hosted at the archive (read: NOT YUKU) and we own the source code, so it can be modified to your liking. I guess this can be the official discussion thread for any updates and suggestions.

Hovering your mouse over the "Chat Room" link on the Kitten or in the archive will tell you who's in the chat room!

* Added logging capability - button is up top

* Window now scrolls "New Message" on taskbar when out of focus on new message arrival.

* Chat testing and working on current versions of FF, IE, Opera, Safari, and Chrome (Thanks to all who helped test!)

* Fixed the mysterious winking face issue.

* Sound button directly toggles off/on instead of bringing up menu.

* Scroll bar added to chat window when more than one page of text is present. There is still a line cap, but an increased one.

* Finally found and fixed the problem with the user limit. Chat room should support up to 50 simultaneous connections, now.

After months of picking apart my code trying to figure out why the room was dropping lines, I finally gave up and rewrote the damn thing. ^_^

Looks a lot different/simpler, but should function the same. Please report any issues here or shoot an email my way.

After a bunch of testing and tweaking, I can safely say that the chat room does not lose lines any longer.

* Added support for small-caps font variant. This might get replaced by another style at a later time, I just wanted to get the template into the code. The objective is to come up with a variant style to identify storytellers. ^_^

Meg has updated the old Kitten Chat room to a newer and more awesome version. (It now includes PICTURES!) It can be accesed by clicking on the General Chat link on the top of the KB, or by going to http://jasmydae.com/wt/chat/login.php

Please note that you do not have to register in order to join, if you mark the box "Login as Guest" you can login with any unregistered nick without needing a password.
