Good news, Kittens! Chat is back!

Chat is here. This chat is part of our backup board (see below). You must be logged in at the backup board to access this chat. If you are not logged in, you will be asked to log in or register. If you were a member of the Kitten when we were at ezboard, your old username and password should work for this. If you were not with us then, if you don't have your old info, or if your old info does not work, you will have to register at the backup board.

When using chat, please be respectful of the board and its members!

The backup board is there for us to use on those rare occasions when this board goes down temporarily. Please bookmark it now! The backup board is actually the old Kitten. When ezboard became yuku, they migrated the old ezboard boards to yuku. If you have your old ezboard username and password, that should work at yuku. If not, please feel free to go ahead and register again now. While we will not be actively posting at the backup board except when this board is down, registering at the backup board now will save you the hassle later and it will give you access to the chat right now.

Please post here if you have any questions or if you run into any problems using the chat, or getting logged in or registering at the backup board.

I had to register with a different user name, same password though. Yuku told me paint the sky was in use. Anyone else have a problem like that?

I log on there as yellowarc in case anyone does want to chat!

Anyone else not able to get into chat?

Before yesterday I would just click on chat room from the menu above and go right in, but now it takes me to a login page, but it doesn't recognise my email and password when I sign in. I've tried my both email and user name with my password for yuku and it won't let me in with either.

I can log in to the back-up board as yellowarc but not chat. I can even access the profile I set up when I registered.

That definitely is weird, PTS! I have no prob getting in by just clicking on the chat room link, but then again I had no prob registering as masterjendu. Also weird that Paint the Sky was in use on yuku. Good luck to ya.

You can see who's in there if you go to the backup board. In the area to the right of "Kitten Chat Room" (under where it has the Topics, Posts, Kudos, and Last Post info), it will show who is currently chatting. If it's just blank, there is no one chatting. I promise it works, though. You can go into chat and test it yourself - the backup board will show that you are in there.

So you have two accounts at yuku, and you can't log in at all with one of them? Where you able to recently? When did you start not being able to log in with that account? And you can log in with the other one, but it just won't let you into chat? Is that right? That's strange. Maybe there was a temporary problem with yuku or with the chat room? Will you try it again and let me know if it still doesn't work?

I tried again still no luck.

I only have one account at yuku. I set this up to access chat. I tried to register as paint the sky with the same password I use here. It told me that paint the sky was already in use, so I then chose yellowarc with the same password as I use here.

So yellowarc and kitten password were ok, I even have a profile page with my alternate name.

I was able to access the chatroom when logged on here by clicking on Chat Room, it sent me straight in without having to sign in anywhere.

That was on Monday, I even had a nice chat, but when I followed the same procedure Tuesday and today clicking on Chat Room opens a window which asks for my e-mail and password.

I put in my e-mail, the one I used when registering at yuku, and the password. Nothing happens, the page just refreshes giving me the same window.

Now, if I go to the back-up board, it lets me sign in there with yellowarc and my password. My profile page loads in the top half of the screen.

If I click on more/manage, it takes me to a page that asks for my e-mail or user name and password before I can access anything.

I've tried both my e-mail and username ie yellowarc here with my password and neither are recognised.

I'm totally stumped, cos everything was fine on Monday.

ETA. I can now access chat, but the above is what was happening just in case it happens again I'll leave this post in place.

Just a note, in case there's been any confusion:

Being logged in here at this board has no effect at all on being able to access the chat or post at the backup board. The two boards are not really related or linked in any way, except that they are both used by Kittens. You can't really move back and forth between the two with just one login - you have to log in to both separately, which means you will have to have two different accounts. If you were a member when we were at ezboard, your ezboard username and password should work at the yuku backup board because yuku used to be ezboard. But your username and password from here won't help you at yuku.

Gah! I've tried logging in, no luck. Tried resetting my password, no luck (no username and/oe no e-mail in their system).

OK, so I sign up for a new account - click the "check if this name is available" button and it says it is. Click finish, then it says "Name exists on EZboard.



So I thought, maybe I had an account on EZboard years ago (not kitten-related, but I've been on teh intarwebs a looong time). Still no luck.

Hey, Jessica. I was about to have the same problem it sounds like you're having until I found an old piece of paper from about 5 or 6 years ago with some old passwords on it. It was going to be a real mess, because I don't have the same email address I originally registered with. I don't even have access to that email address anymore. Anything they sent me about resetting my password was not going to work, because they would send it to the email I registered with.

As far as I can tell, ezboard/yuku doesn't seem to EVER wipe old dormant accounts, so if anyone has ever registered a particular username, it's always going to be unavailable in the future. I could be wrong about that, but that seems to be the experience most people have when they can't get into their old accounts and can't register again with their old usernames, even though it's been yeeeeears.

If you cannot find anything that will help you get into your old account, I'd suggest you just register a new account with some new name that they'll let you have. Perhaps you could try to file a support ticket thingy and at least see what they say about your old account. But a lot of people have just made new accounts rather than fool with trying to get into their old ones. You'd be in good company.

Btw, is there any specific reason for this? I think IRC would be more reliable solution than web-based chat. Besides, it feels a bit awkward to use another board for chatting.

IRC was pretty cool but every so often a random person not affiliated with the board would somehow manage to get in and cause some trouble. I don't know if there is some list of all of the IRC chats (though I know at the site there is a small list of names) but it seemed that anyone could come in and didn't have to come in through the board, so that was a problem I believe.

I personally love the new chat and all the options that comes with it. Only pesky thing about it being the fact that you can't change your nick and can't see who is in there just by going directly to this board instead of using the backup board, but then again that seems a bit of a silly complaint given the fact that the chat itself is just neat.

So thanks to Maudmac and anyone else involved for reviving chat.

I got into chat just fine a few times, but lately, I've been having problems. It starts loading fine, seems to be done loading and then an error message pops up saying "usuario desconocido" (which means unknown user, but I'm not entirely sure that's the english version). Any ideas what it might be? I should add that I created a new yuku account, since I couldn't remember my old password anymore. Could that be it? I've also tried changing browsers, and it's the same thing.

UPDATE

I've been to yuku support now.

This appears to be a yuku-wide problem that's been affecting some boards since Thursday. In typical ezboard fashion, yuku is dragging its feet about not only solving the problem, but communicating with members about what they know and what they're doing to fix it.

Eventually, a complaining user found this apparently official word from yuku support in another thread about the chat problem:

The technicians have been alerted and are working to resolve this

So...all we can do is wait for yuku to fix this.

ok not that any of you actualy know me or have ever heard from me i came around like 5 years ago and back then i was in my loner shell that enjoyed watching every one interact without actualy doing so myself but ive gorwn up and out and now i actualy interact as well but ive been away for the like 2 years in which this happened so no im back and come to fine a lots changed like a new chat and i enjoy chat so i loged in on both boards no problem got loggen in to chat no problem...

then i ran in to problems 1 no one is around but then again it is like ummmm almost 5 am my time and im gona guess not too many of you are way off my time to actualy being awake and willing to chat

and 2... the real problem i found again a small one... it said my nick name was taken wen i tried to change my name from drdj2006.thekittenthewitchesandthebadwardrobe36671... *takes deep breath* to just drdj2006 it wouldnt let me kept sayin it was taken and i was only in the old chat a hole wopping one time and no one has ever had drdj2006 on any sight that ive ever been too and then i tried dj which is usualy taken then doc which usualy isnt and a bunch of other vareations of names of mine and they are all taken whats the deal there does it just want me to stay drdj2006.thekittenthewitchesandthebadwardrobe36671... *deep breath* forever?????
