Yeah, but they always treated Seth special. Even in season 2, he got as Oz after his name and everyone else (Tara) had to wait at least until the next season, if not 4 (Joyce).

Edited to add: Except for Armin Shimeran (Principal Synder) and Juliet Landau (Drusilla). So maybe that throws out my whole theory and actually I'm not quite sure what it was.

About "As you were" - depending on the service, it is also used as a method of correction. If a command or order is given or executed wrong, the person who gave the command will yell "as you were", fix the problem, and have them carry on correctly. Could this be a bit of forshadowing regarding Riley realizing he's made a mistake, and come back to fix it?!?!

Seriously, I had NO idea the "as ..." was like a special treatment.

This whole "Amber Benson as Tara" annoys me SO much! I wish they'd just put her in the credit! Like the regular she already is! I doubt they'd take her from the show at this point and with this amount of fans and ppl who are supportive of T/W relationship. I wonder why isn't she on the credits on season 6. I mean, Seth Green was a part of the credits in no time!!

Saw the trailer. Loved Riley's line to Spike. "we have seen enough of your dead body."

I am sure there are others out there who feel the same!

Mind you, it's not that I don't like Spike, I do, but this whole S/B thing needs to stop. I certainly was hoping for a good round of kick-the-Spike by Riley.

It will be good to see Riley again. I also think he had gotten to much grief from fans.

I never liked Riley I never will, he is the kind of stupid conservative farm boy that thinks he has to be stronger then Buffy and take care of her otherwise he can't be with her. Its those kinds of people that I view as the most homophobic, judgemental, and rigid.

Perhaps some people with personality traits like Riley are homophobic JMC, but there's no evidence to suggest that Riley himself was. There is in fact, some evidence to the contrary.

As I recall, Buffy held back in her initial sparring matches with Riley because she was afraid of showing herself stronger than him--only to find out that he thought it was pretty cool.

I wasn't overly fond of the guy during his tenure on the show, but I gotta say it did strike me as kinda nice to see him again in that preview.

I liked Riley too. I'm tired of seeing people giving the character so much grief. He seemed very secure of himself in the beginning. I see people posting that he didn't like the fact that Buffy was stronger than him. On the contrary, Riley seemed kind of turned on by the fact that she was a strong woman as seen in the Initiative and other season 4 episodes. The reason why he left was not because he felt physically inferior to Buffy, but rather he felt he was not needed by her. And I don't care how a couple values equality and independence in each other, a person still wants to feel like they are needed.

Now grant you, I didn't like how Riley took off, particularly when Buffy was going through such a difficult time. The whole vampire-sucky thing was kind of gross too. But maybe his whole tread on the darkside would allow him to have a little perspective on what Buffy is going through now. I hope they do address how things were left between them and have some nice closure.

I liked Riley in the beginning but truth to be told as time passed he became a pain in th @$$ (imo). I didn't think Buffy was ignoring him or anything.
Maybe at 1st he thought it was cool that she was stronger etc, but after sometime, it must be bad for any guy's ego seeing that she actually didn't need him on the fights. She had been doing all that way before he showed up. She needed him as a boyfriend and that's all. She already had (and still has) a lot of fighting friends. It was an ego thing to me. As he realised he was "just" needed as the boyfriend that wasn't enough for him/his ego.

I think what stung Riley more than that Buffy didn't need him in the fights was that she didn't want him in the fights. He knew that was a big part of her world that he couldn't be a part of.

ok, things riley doesn't know that would provide ample entertainment to tell him:

1) buffy died
2) riley was upset because he thought he'd have to be a vamp for buffy to love him and now shes 'with' spike
3) i shall explain with dialouge:
"hey will, hows things?"
"ok, you?"
"fine. say, wheres tara?"

and more:

did riley know joyce died? i know he was there for when she was sick but i can't remember him in 'the body'
it is however possible that i was distracted by certain other going ons

and i just realized that riley doesn't know that buffy chased down his helicopter.
she *did* come after him in the end and he never knew...how sad...

think maybe he'll stay for the wedding?

I've always loved the Riley Finn character. There's a Clark Kent sort of charm to him, and let's face it, there have been way too few dominant, masculine hero-types on BtVS. Why should girls have all the baddie-buttkicking fun?

Riley didn’t strike me as conservative or stupid. He didn’t mind helping out the Lesbian Alliance at school and he was dating a woman who was able to kick his ass on any given day, so he wasn’t conservative in the traditional sense. And he was one of the highest ranking officers in the Initiative and was a TA in Professor Walsh’s psychology class, so he was far from stupid.

Riley was a fine person, I just felt he was a little dull. And, to be honest, I got tired of them pushing the B/R physical relationship on us all the time; but maybe I was just jealous that we weren’t getting the same from Willow and Tara.

I don’t mind him coming back happy. Hell, somebody should be happy on this blessed show!

I have to say I was not a fan of Riley in S5 but it will be nice to see him return to show us how or if he has grown (from the vampire blood donor lows, and the seeming lack of purpose he felt) and to see if he is able to help Buffy deal with the reality she has before her now post-death...

though to stick up for him... IMHO I perfered seeing the constant R/B sex to the B/S sex... there is just something so degrading in the B/S sex
