It's out. Small spoilers.

There's a forehead kiss, but frankly the best part of the comic was the letters page, when I saw that the next issue wouldn't be a new part. :-P

I enjoy the Buffy comic, but god, this arc was just a clunker. There is nothing fun to me in seeing good friends fight each other because of outside influence, especially as it simply plays to fan prejudices much of the time.

Ah well, next ish starts the 'between Season 5 and 6' arc. That looks much better (and much more Willow-oriented).

Yeah, I'm sooo glad the "Ugly Little Monsters" thing is done.

The art has been exceptopnally poor - is it Buffy or Anya on the cover, and is it Buffy or Tara behind her? OK, I know the answer but the art is still terrible.

Definitely the strangest depiction of TaraCrotch I've ever seen...
YEs, the W/T sitting on the bed, touching faces and eventual forehead kiss is nice - except that they're under DEMONIC INFLUENCE while it's happening.

Also, under same demonic influence, some of the silliest dialogue: W/T burst into the Magic Shop and scream at A/X "You can't have our love!" - WFT?!?

I think A/X are happy enough with their narrow heterosexual lifestyle choice.

The one tiny, un-demonically -influenced W/T moment is (in the background of a wideshot) a sweet hand-on-cheek (no, not the rumpy kind...You filthy minded kittens!*G*).

Finally, after all the "Did Evil Lesbian Witch Tara Cast An Evil Spell?" lead-up, it is implied that Anya is somehow to blame, but the MAIN PLOT POINT of the entire arc is not clearly explained AT ALL.

So, hopefully the next arc will be better...It has to be.

I don't have scan technology, and y'all aren't really missing much anyway.

Ok, I think I figured it out. The videer dust was spilled by Willow and everyone was really angry and their negative emotions sprang forth the little demons. The people present were Tara, Xander, Anya and Willow. SO they were the ones affected. Scans later.

Could anyone give me an overview of the plot of this comic, just to see if its worth buying online?

Well, I stopped by the shop at lunch and flipped through the silly thing. I have no idea what was up with this plot, really quite pointless.

All I want is Fray #6 and TotS. And nobody has them yet.

Oh I scanned the "good stuff" and I really mean that term in a very loose sense.

Demon possesed affection
Tara shows her fists
W/T affection for reals

Once again, thank you for the scans.
This story may be -uhm- sucky, but I still want to see it, and even if the characters are so out of character, heh, it is still nice to see W/T be affectionate at least, and we've had some wonderful W/T comic moments so far, I am sure there will be more, looking forward to those.

Thanks,

The last picture is upside down.

Tara: My heart doesn't stutter.

Tara: Willow, I got so lost.
Willow: I found you. I will always find you.

Tara: Nobody messes with my girl!

I have all of the buffy comics and I have to say that up until Ugly Little Monsters I have been happy with the way Willow and Tara have been portrayed. I hated the ULM series. Darkhorse also came out with a series of Xena comics that I found to be homophobic and insulting - in particular the last opus. I hope that they are not going this way with W/T. I'm sure it was just a momentary lapse...(crossed fingers)

lurkylu, I think they have a real simplistic view of the characters, Tara insecure, Willow aggressive witch, etc. So when they need to exaggerate this traits because they are under the influence of a spell, it just illustrated how awful their portrayal is.

But you know they have Amber to keep them in check Amber writing w/t comics gives me hope.

Yeah, I agree Xita. I think that one of the reasons Xena translated SO horribly was that so much of the show depended on the interactions (sans dialogue) between the Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor. Buffy in general, and Willow/Tara in particular are much more dialogue driven then X/G - therefore, I had high hopes for their comic book transition. Also, you have the whole are they/aren't they debate with X/G that doesn't exist in the portrayal of W/T (since they definately are and often (heh, heh, heh).
Amber's (and the rest of the Buffy staff) participation in the comics is def. a quality control "Yipee" - whereas, I feel like Xena (in almost all respects) was just licensed out without any quality control or intercession on behalf of TPTB whatsoever. Were those cogent thoughts? - I'm on a caffeine high and may be rambling.

What crap.

And they misspelled "temperance".

I liked the Ugly Little Monsters themselves, they were cute. Of course, they also were cheap rip-offs of the Darklings from "The Darkness" who are so much cooler...

The best thing about it were the covers. Loved them (they were confusing, but hey, as a comic geek I´m more interested in the art itself then in recognizing the characters).

The story sucked, but they also (mostly) sucked up until now, it´s not why I buy it anyway...

I like the realistic look to the next few comics as well. Also, I loved the covers on the last three as well. Take a look!

Yeah that first one is really cool. I love how great W/T look and how they are holding on to each other. Too bad the actual comics can't look even half as realistic as those covers.

Amazing cover art - but do they use the same artists to draw the comic itself? Because it doesn't look like it!

"an encroaching invasion of black magic lizard wizards"

That strike anyone else as just a WEIRD phrase? Just sayin'.

Yes, that is a really weird phrase. Now try saying it quickly 5 times in a row. My husband thinks I'm crazy but tongue twisters also get me giggling.

I do have a question though. Do these comics follow the timeline of the show i.e. do they take place between the episodes or are they out of the TV season timeline.quote:

I got the impression that this takes place between S5 and S6 - with Buffy all dead and all. But I have often been known to be wrong!

They do tend to fall into actual places - this coming series of course being between "The Gift" and "Bargaining" - but they tend to do so ambiguously, not affecting the storyline-at-large.

The same is certainly true of the books etc. as the show defines the mythology, these stories just fill in gaps.
