I have to admit this episode has me in stitches every time I watch, As a UK viewer it was only recently shown.
The fighting between Anya and Willow is fun to watch and Willow has some great comments.

When it is said that Anya dated a Troll Willow says "And were surprised by that" was classic Willow speak, And the "Gay Now" was great.

I noticed that Tara was more a part of the gang now as she and Buffy are taking a class together. Also Tara's panic when she finds the magic shop in a mess and Willow is missing. It shows just how much she loves Willow.

I'm a little late in getting into this, I saw it for the first time last night, (and for my second, moments ago) but I had a few things that I just wanted to comment on, see how others felt.

Like alot of others have mentioned, W/T's lack of any connection at the end there was... disappointing. Particularly after Tara was so worried about her earlier in the episode. In fact, one could even understand Anya's concern over Willow and Xander with the way Willow is holding HIS arm in that scene. I'm overexaggerating, but still. In fact, I'd would really like to see a heavy Willow episode soon, because in my opinion, there hasn't been one in awhile. I would especially like it if her relationship with Tara was emphasized. I know, I know... "Family", "The Body"... but still. I'd love to just have a Willow/Tara heavy epi. What can I say?

I would also like to see Willow get her powers in order. I said that badly. I would like to see Willow have a bit more control over what she does.

I love the Tara/Scoobie relationship. She's definitely becoming a part of the gang in this episode. Xander looking to her for help, Buffy crying on her shoulder, her general interaction with the rest of the Scooby Gang is so nice to see. Like a breath of fresh air, even.

I did like how light the episode was in tone. Spike was a riot. Spike is always a riot, actually. He's just a great character. I'm wondering though if he wasn't a better character before they took away all of his dignity? Just a thought.

So, yeah, I've babbled on enough. I still haven't introduced myself in an introduction thread, I apologize for my rudeness. But, I scan as time allows. Thanks for your patience if you got this far.

after reading the shooting script and seeing how it played on my screen I have to say the direction and editing really changed the writers intent and not for the better.

Tara entering the bronze after being so fearful for willows well being and what do we get? nothing, nothing period, between her and willow when she finally finds her safe! They deprived us of an opportunity to "see them as a couple", and as shown it was a departure from the scripts intent.

The bronze falling in and W&T again showing no concern for each others well being or us even getting an acknowledment of tara's role in helping with the disaster, again poor and a departure from script.

Willow having tara hang back and doing the magick with anya to get the hammer away for the troll and then send him to another dimension, without tara's help or knowledge of the spells purpose was poor form, diminishing tara as willows wicca partner, as was the fact that buffy was suppose to be speaking to the two couples W&T and A&X at the end as it was scripted, but it was editied to look like only A&X were acknowledged as a couple by buffy.

The power of the director and editor to change the writers intent was really driven home to me when I read the shooting script
I hope they never use this director again

Now you know why Joss always directs his own scripts. Why almost any writer who is passionate about his or her writing will also direct if he or she has the clout to make it happen, actually.

I did like Triangle but I was very disappointed when Tara walked into the Bronze and didn’t hug Willow and like tvsurfer pointed out, when the Bronze fell in, W/T did not run to each other and the end, where Buffy was only talking to X/A.
But when I read the shooting script and all those scenes that should have been there were actually in the script, then I got mad. Something xita had pointed out in this thread is that at the end, when Buffy was talking to X/A about how happy they are and stuff, she’s actually looking at W/T but they show a shot of X/A …that pissed me off a lot.

So like Bob just said, that’s why Joss directs his own scripts…if you want something done right, do it yourself

Well, besides the old "if you want something done right" adage, there's also the fact that Hollywood is mostly in the business of not making movies and not making TV shows and not giving people opportunities to express themselves. There is therefore a ton of resentment in town (one could say the town practically thrives on it) and people will take any and every opportunity to put their little spin on something. Frequently the only chance a person gets to make a statement is by trampling on someone else's statement, and since the writer is the only member of the production team who's not standing there on the set, the writer is usually the one who gets trampled.

Did I really want to get into this business at one time? What was I smoking?

Thanks for the link Xita !

looking at those pics reminds how much g:g 'touching" (buffy and her sister with the hair stroking on the bed cuddle stuff and the Anya and Willow with the 'grab each other and cower from the big bad' again and again) in this eppie there was, but nary a hand hold from W&T, heck even in the magic box discussion at the table scene it looked like willow was sitting in xanders lap and tara was on the opposite side of the world. aruugh I hope that director Never works on the show again!

Working my way up the board. I have seen Triangle several times now, therefore I can give a more informed opinion this time.

I loved this episode. For several reasons.

Eventhough the W/T relationship could have been treated better, there are still some wonderful W/T moments in here that show their love and couplyness. I am referring to the "I said quirky" scene and the concern in Tara's voice and on her face when she tells Buffy "Something's been here Buffy, and Willow's gone..." amongst others.

I loved the interaction between Buffy and Tara. The scene with Buffy sobbing on Tara's shoulder is precious. I think it was very important to have the two of them interact as friends, not just as members of the Scoobie club.

And then there was Willow. This episode is just full of wonderful Willow gems. Most notably "Hello, gay now!"

Now, I agree that the episode could have been better. I cannot understand why they did not follow the shooting script more closely. It is clearly better than the way it turned out. But lets not forget all the wonderful things this ep has given us.

In my humble opinion one of the funniest parts of this episode is at the end when Anya is reassuring Xander that she loves him and so does Willow but "not in the sexy way because she's gay." The little smile and nod that Willow gives Xander is so cute. Anya and Willow are a very bad mix, but in the funny funny way.
