Honestly, I don't even think Willow had access to Tara's number before. I think she feared Tara would hang up on her but now she feels like Tara would like to hear from her. In the shooting script for the last episode, we learn that Willow's been crying a lot. We can assume this has been tearing her up.
I love the whole conversation, too soon for a bold manuever. Hee, Willow's so cute. She's got this whole cunning plan now Measuring all her moves.

That, of course, begs the question of whether or not Dawn would lie to Tara about what happened, if just to spare Tara's feelings, but somehow I'm not quite convinced that she would.

oddly enough cuz UCSD in real life means university of california san diego, and usually on tv, even if an acronym is the same as that of a real place, theyll change it to avoid confusion.
oh hi by the way.

aren't UC schools free or really close to free for california residents? i think so.... so paying wouldnt be a problem.

The BS shippers (note my lack of slashmark-usage ) are not going to be happy.
I love these two exchanges in particular:
quote:
Spike backs up, hurt "Well that's bloody funny coming from you no more games? That's all you've ever done is play me. And you keep playing with rules you make up as you like. You know what I am, you've always known, but you come to me all the same" He walks off, disgusted.
and
quote:
"It's over.""I've memorized this tune, love I think I have the sheet music. Doesn't change what you want, love."
"I know that. I do want you. Being with you makes things simpler. For a little while."
"I don't' call 5 hours straight a little while."
"I'm using you. I can't love you. I'm just being weak and selfish."
A little nervous and hurt, Spike quips "I'm really not complaining here."
"And it's killing me. I have to be strong about this. I'm sorry, William."
Buffy turns and exits slowly, with Spike standing, very confused.
Spike shows his true colors. He hasn't changed. He isn't redeemed. He may not be able to kill people directly, but he's still evil. He has no qualms about calling himself "The Doctor" and selling stuff on the black market. (Do you think he got the idea to call himself The Doctor after Andrew's comment about seeing Doctor Who on DVD? ) He even knows Buffy's just using him, and he doesn't mind. Why should he? It gives him what he wants - sex, of course, but even more important power. Buffy may be using him, but it makes him feel like he owns her - like he's conquered her, something he couldn't do with violence.
Sometimes you don't need to be a spoiler junkie to know what's coming next in the series. Sometimes you just have to be watching. This is the end Buffy and Spike were heading toward all along. I'm glad it's here, so Buffy can start building her life back up again.
In a similar vein, sometimes you don't need to be a spoiler junkie to know that Willow and Tara are heading back together. The bit with Dawn and the Bronze sounds really cute. I think it was Wiccie who said the other day, "Dawn has two mommies, and she wants them back together!"

Theatremouse, on the contrary, UC & State universities in California are *very* expensive to residents, and any/all students who don't have full scholarships.
Also, UC Sunnydale has been referred to (in print) on the show as "UC(picture of sun)D". Even though Buffy had high SATs, if she wasn't doing well in school (and hey, she dropped out), they're not going to be itchin' to get her back.
I'm really surpised that they rejected her. All she really needed to do was go to an acdemic advisor and tell them her sob story (minus her dying) and I'm pretty sure they would have let her back in. This has got to be the most depressing storyline ever on Buffy. I'm fine with the dying. I'm fine with the depression. I'm fine with the spuffying a vampire. (Well, not really, but I'll tolerate it.) But I'm really sad to see her working in a fast food place with no prospect of getting out of that menial job.
I'm all for a dojo for Buffy! If she taught a few self defense techniques to the citizens of Sunnydale, maybe she wouldn't have to patrol so much.

I totally agree... I mean slayer speed, slayer fighting skills, slayer technigue... even if it didn't sway the vampire vs. normal people fight... people take classes all the time... and she'd be able to kill to birds with one stone... train and work

And excellent points, Bob. In truth, I'm not sure where the B/S shippers got the idea that the ship was going to last. I've lost count of how many of the writers have told us that B/S was a deeply unhealthy 'ship, designed to show us just how messed up Buffy is ATM. Doesn't exactly sound made for the long-haul, does it?
Yes, SMG and JM have great chemistry; yes, there's been definite sparkage visible for some time; yes, the whole enemies-attract deal makes for compelling TV (well, from what I've seen in the UK thus far); yes, both are undeniably hotties. But STILL! In the end, he's still an unrepentant mass-murderer.
Each to their own, I suppose; but I'd rather see a Buffy who is happy with herself and her life, not the one whose self-loathing - of which her 'relationship' with Spike is an integral part, IMHO - is becoming more and more clear with each episode.
And now I'll stop, because I don't want to rant. Too much.
NB: this isn't an attack on B/S-shippers, just on the concept of B/S as lasting and healthy. Please don't flame...

Tuesday, February 26, 2002This is a big week in the career of actor Marc Blucas. Tonight, after a year-long absence, he reprises his role as Buffy Summers's wholesome ex-beau Riley Finn on Buffy the Vampire Slayer (8 pm/ET on UPN). And come Friday, he can be seen on the big screen opposite Mel Gibson in the brutal Vietnam drama We Were Soldiers.
"[The back-to-back gigs are] nice for me and my family," Blucas admits to TV Guide Online, "but the verdict's still out on whether anyone else thinks it's nice or not."
Well, as far as his small-screen comeback is concerned, the modest 6'2" hottie need not worry about receiving a warm reception: Buffy fans have been drooling for Riley's return ever since he left his Chosen One in tears at the Sunnydale Heliport. Of course, there is one obsessed Buffy disciple who almost certainly won't be rolling out the welcome mat: the Slayer's current love slave, Spike.
Blucas — who turned the big 3-0 last month — reveals that Buffy's latest dalliance with the undead is one of many things that Riley "gets caught up to speed on." But he points out that his alter ego hasn't exactly been cooped up in a cabin writing poetry during his time away, teasing that Riley "drops a bombshell" of his own.
Although Riley's Hellmouth homecoming is short-lived (read: one-episode only), Finn-ites can get a second helping of Blucas just by going to the cineplex to catch Soldiers. But brace yourself: His on-screen counterpart, too-eager-for-his-own-good Lt. Herrick, meets an untimely end. And making matters worse, director Randall Wallace (The Man in the Iron Mask) chose to shoot the wrenching death scene in extreme close-up.
At the time, the cameraman warned Blucas that when the movie made it to the big screen his mug would be super-sized. "He commented, 'Your face is going to be like 60 feet wide on this one,'" the Summer Catch star recalls.
Making the sequence even more of a challenge, he says, was the fact that Lt. Herrick was a real person. "He has a family that's going to see this movie," he says. "And more than anything, I just wanted to make it an accurate depiction. I've never seen anyone die in person and I hope I don't have to." — Michael Ausiello

I agree. I am a B/S shipper, and I think this break-up is best for now, because I don't think this is the end. This way, both Buffy and Spike can work out their issues and hopefully they will get back together, so they can start afresh and have a healthier relationship because of it. I absolutely love the two of them together, and I'm sure seeing them break up will have me a little misty-eyed (especially because she calls him William--there's something about that that gets me every time), but I do think it's the best thing right now. I have faith that we will see them together again, and maybe next time Buffy won't be constantly beating Spike up and he won't be telling her that her friends don't understand her.

What concerns me is that there are a number of people out there who think Buffy and Spike are just fine as they are right now, who won't understand why Buffy's leaving him and will likely fill cyberspace with very angry comments saying so. That's really what I was referring to. It seems to happen every time Buffy breaks up with someone, and I just have a feeling this round will be bigger than usual.
And now I've probably already gone past the edge of being inflammatory, so I'll just shut up and sit here quietly.

Though I am a total anti B/S shipper... I have to say that coming down to the nuts and bolts of it that was the worst part about their relationship... all the violence/manipulation/name calling... didn't seem healthy or substancial... I would humbly venture a guess that what most B/S fans would want a more solid relationship...
as for the B/S sex during As You Were... I had about enough after Doublemeat Palace so I'll be flipping to Muchmusic and the news to save myself

I was glad that buffy broke it off with spike. their relationship was just so unhealthy. it was obvious that spike does love her and buffy does seem to have an infatuation with spike, but she would never be able to go back to living her life and growing with spike. he keeps trying to hold her back by telling her things like she doesn't belong with her friends and that she only belongs with him.

And now I've probably already gone past the edge of being inflammatory, so I'll just shut up and sit here quietly.

posted February 26, 2002 17:44 Oh yes... I knew there would be some B/S shippers who would see the relationship as it currently stands as unhealthy, and would agree that changes need to be made. It's the same thing we Kittens went through at the beginning of the season, when Willow's magic addiction was clearly preventing the W/T relationship from continuing as it was. What concerns me is that there are a number of people out there who think Buffy and Spike are just fine as they are right now, who won't understand why Buffy's leaving him and will likely fill cyberspace with very angry comments saying so.

And I also remember it being UCSD because I remember Oz holding a folder in "New Moon Rising" when he saw Tara in the hallway that said UCSD. I've seen the ep enough times to remember.I was glad that buffy broke it off with spike. their relationship was just so unhealthy. it was obvious that spike does love her and buffy does seem to have an infatuation with spike, but she would never be able to go back to living her life and growing with spike. he keeps trying to hold her back by telling her things like she doesn't belong with her friends and that she only belongs with him.

Based on the wildfeed, and the things I'd already heard before, I'm predicting that tomorrow night could be the ugliest post-episode evening Buffy fandom has seen since NMR first ran and was followed by the second half of Angel's Faith two-parter. The BS shippers (note my lack of slashmark-usage ) are not going to be happy.
