All purpose BtVS on Australian/NZ TV/media thread

We've noticed a lot different discussion threads dealing with BtVS on Australian TV. We've renamed this thread to allow discussion of cuts and other issues, reviews etc. from the Australian/NZ media. New episode discussion should of course take place in the original episode threads, but feel free to discuss any episode related issues here.

So there I was engaged in my usual Friday night activities, curled on couch, garden door open to the summer evening, cat on one side, nice chilled glass of wine on coffee table, reading a paper, casually changing channels between cable and free to air (yes, I am getting to it), and then I hear it,
the brand new Buffy promo - she's back, and she's alive.........coming soon to Ch7

So, just thought I would share the good news with the other Aussie kitties........and yes, there was Willow goodness in the promo........

One of which, goes a little something like this-

"She died saving the world... but you can't keep a good slayer down.... [insert the middle part of the add which I can't remember]... Buffy lives. Soon on channel 7"

It sounds like there must be a few different promo's. I have only seen the one cause tennis just puts me to sleep...............anyone have any idea when the official start date is? Must be soon if they are advertising it...........just can't wait!

I don't know that we get exactly the same promo's here in Australia, I think Ch7 makes their own. Does any other Aussies know what happens?

I'm pretty sure Ch7 does make their own ads. 'Coz it's always that one guy with the deepish voice narrating... or that woman. Either way, their voices always sound like they've been altered a bit.

I saw the ad late last night whilst watching "Man in the Iron Mask" or that late movie that was on after it.

All it's got is... COMING SOON. So I'm assuming that means after the Winter Olympics. UUmmm on another note... I saw the "Charmed" promo and I think Ch7 finally decided to air just to keep up with Ch10. I got angry and yelled at the TV when I saw the "Charmed" ad and hadn't seen a Buffy one. Well, now for me they're even. I've seen one of each. Let's just hope we get more info soon.

Umm, in response to the 'when will it start in Australia?' question, um, there was something about this a little while ago, and I don't remember what the outcome was, but I know that channel 7, (Brisbane I think it was?) were not very helpful and quite rude when someone called and asked them. Luckily channel 7 here in Sydney seem to be a lot nicer, and when I called them, I was told that Buffy would be returning in early March, so yeah, just after the winter olympics!

Don't you just hate it when you write a message then the darn thing doesn't appear?
I'm hoping that Buffy starts during mid to late March cause I'll be in Vietnam at the beginning of March.

And the more I think about it, the more I am sure that Australian networks develop their own promo's. We certainly had very different Xena promo's here (heavy on the subtext, light on the violence). And from vague memory last year, some of the Ch7 promo's played up the Willow & Tara angle, which is all to the good of course.

Anyone seen any more promo's? I haven't watched Ch7 since Friday night....

Okay so I actually sat through THE TENNIS to look out for a Buffy ad ANY Buffy ad last night, and I didn't see one!! Argghh and do you know what that means? That I'm going to have to sit through it again tonight to look out for an ad Has anyone seen an ad for it at an earlier time slot?

Hey, I dunno how late you stayed up watching the Tennis, Kristy, but I saw the ad at about 10:30pm on Sunday night. I don't know how that affects you... that's the only time I've seen in though. Mind you, I don't watch much of Ch 7.

As luck would have it......I turn on Channel 7 today to watch the tennis....and what would be the first add that comes on - Yep, that's right........the Buffy ad. I was soooo excited and started bounding around the house like an idiot - much to my parents digrace

Channel 7 Brisbane has been showing a "Buffy Lives" ad early in the morning on the Sunrise news program (first half of the show I think) in the last two weeks. I've seen it twice..Brisvegas fans could try to catch it there, they may still be showing it.

Yeah Pixie Muso, I figured it would be on around 10:30-ish so I've been watching around then, but lol it's probably my fault because I can't manage to watch the tennis all that time.
Heh but my family must think I'm extremely weird because I've got the volume down during the tennis and then when an ad comes on the volume goes back up, lol my holidays have reached an all time low
Eh, oh well that just means I'll be setting myself up for yet another night of watching tennis *whispers*...oh god! Good luck to everyone in catching it!

There is simply no way I could stay awake through more than 10 minutes of tennis, not even for a Buffy promo......and Winter Olympics, pffffft.....doesn't Ch7 realise that some it its viewers just aren't interested in sport?

Well we've had Channel 7 on pretty much all day (since after 12pm anyway) just to have something on the TV, and I've seen the Buffy ad on at least three times in about four hours. So either I was watching at the right time or they are playing the ad more now.

(by the way I wasn't actually watching the tennis, it was just on as background noise, this house is too quiet without it )

Edit: Well in the Buffy.com.au newsletter they say Buffy S6 is starting here Monday Feb 4th.... I sure hope so. Time to start getting blank tapes again And again a day change, from Tues to Mon....

It was almost midnight and i was flicking beetween the channels when lo and behold theres Buffy.
I am now officially a happy girl

God now I'm just angry. I've sat through THREE NIGHTS of TENNIS (dear God) and still haven't seen a Buffy ad!! I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. Can I ask if anyone from S.A. has seen the Buffy ad on tv?
