my first winamp skin....

this is my first attempt at a winamp skin
took me a while - soooo many files and trying to line every thing up was a pain!
I have decided to go with a minimalist and if i do say so myself a stylish design!

if you like the pic and you want it for yourself you can get it here..... (until my boss finds out and kills me for using his server for storing stuff on!)

I speak from Winamp skin experience .. yes, HUGE pain lining stuff up. I have a couple days off .. maybe I'll do a new skin.

And AAGH!!! You need to tell me how to do an image of the whole skin put together coz I have NO CLUE how to do that on my own. I send the thing in to winamp.com and make them do it, and wait til they put it up. Tell me tell me pleeeeease!!!

its really siumple - just press printscreen when you have the correct orientation - ie, main - equalizer - playlist

i still need to send mine to winamp - better do that tonight

Printscreen? Do you make yours in a winamp skin making program or something? I make mine out file by file in photoshop. And yeah, I have started the drawing I am gonna use for my playlist image. Yes, drawing. Thought I would use some of my own artwork for this one instead of a photo. I'm uploading it to geocities in its unfinished state so you all can check it out as you wish. Here's the addy, coz apparently it isn't letting me link images directly to the message board from Geocities.

And for Willtara120, are you having trouble getting Winamp to recognize the zip file? If so then you should change the file extension to .wsz (winamp skin zip) and stick that file in your program files/winamp/skins folder.

cool drawing - wish i could draw!

i made my skin in paint - yes paint! - i used psp7 just for smoothing the edges out on amber picture!

i worked out an effect way of lining everything up - using crazy colours at first! - then blacked everything out!

all i did to show the final skin i lined the main window up - with the equaliser below it and the playlist below that - use pixel snap. then made sure it was over a white background - or a different colour to the skin and pressed printscreen. - then went back to paint and removed the white outline leaving just the skin itself - easy as something thats really easy!

alternatively u could put it up on winamp.com and save the preview pic it shows you which includes the minibrowser aswell.

on the winamp.com topic - how do u actually publish a skin coz i have done what it said and my skin now just resides in the unpublished section - does it take a few days or something?

Yep, it takes a few days, sometimes up to 2 weeks, for them to actually up and publish the thing. I have just updated my WiccAmp Kiss skin (as of a few days ago it had over 6000 downloads!) but last time I checked it the update was still unpublished. The Kiss is by far the most popular of my 4 Buffy skins up on the site. I am gonna get to fixing up my other 2 W/T skins and update them as well. I think the Buffy/Faith one I made really needs no work at this point.

Thanks for the help on the piccy, I will try that out! If I am too dense to get it to work that way I will go back to my usual waiting for Winamp.com to publish it.
