Crossover Ideas

Postby Zahir » Thu Nov 15, 2001 4:25 pm

Been thinking about crossover fics...(and yes, this is a hint about what my next one is about)...and I was wondering about my fellow kittens.

Do you like crossover fics?
Any you'd like to see?
Crossovers that seem wrong beyond words?

Questions? Comments?

Crossovers are always a nice thing (Lisa Countryman and "The Pure Heart") and I'd love to read some more fics about this topic.

What about a Dawson's Creek-Crossover?? There could be everlasting and complicated discussions about everything...might be interesting

Wrong beyond words? Maybe "Passions" or "All My Children", that would be absolutely breathtaking..

My favorite crossover would be: Ally McBeal and friends almost destroy the world, Buffy and co. save it, everybody gets slightly injured and we change the location to er. It's NOT too unrealistic that people from California and lawyers from Boston would go to a hospital in Chicago, though...

Like most things, it depends on the writing: Good Writing = I will read it.

As for crossovers specifically... I like them, partly because it's kinda' fun to see a FF writer using characters they normally don't. I also don't see any crossover as being WRONG... just sometimes badly done. As long as the author comes up with a plausible reason for the different characters to cross paths, I'm a happy little
kitty.

I like reading crossovers and I was thinking a Buffy (W/T centric of course) - Dr. Who is long overdue.

X-Files and Witchblade also seem like good choices.

i wrote an X-files cross over once even though i'm not too into them though. some are really good, others are like *how does that fit in exactly?* and cross over fics where the other characters are different than canon also irk me. like all of a sudden they are gay. again, for me, some work others dont.

It depends on the crossover. Mixing genre-nongenre (e.g Buffy-Dawson's Creek) seems to farfetched to me, but sometimes it can work. "The Bishop and the Witches" which had the Blackie Ryan character from the series of novels, was so good, I started reading the books!

I tried an X-Files crossover, actually, it was the character of Jose Chung that was in one of my favorite episodes. I started it, and it really didn't gell. However, that is not to be construed as a condemnation of X-Files/Buffy xovers as a whole. (That said, I think there should be a moritorium on any further Buffy/Charmed xovers).

I've read a couple of stories where the character of Ash from Evil Dead shows up in the 'dale, but they were so-so. (Sorry.)

personally, i found the Jose Chung fic interesting and funny. it's hard to write a fic from two such incredibly written shows but you were doing great. you should finish it none the less.

Well Zahir is writing it, so good writing is a given here!

Saddened will I be when Never the Twain? is complete, but gladdened will I be when I have a new (crossover yay!) fic to read!

Hmmm, well, coming from someone who attempted to write a Power Rangers/Xena crossover fic once, I can't exactly say anything disparaging, now can I? (Hey, I thought it was a neat concept to steal the "Amazon High" premise and suck all the Pink Rangers back in time, dumping them into an Amazon tribe.) I had also, at one point, tried to do a Power Rangers/Sliders crossover. Didn't work out quite so well. (Hey! I was fourteen!)

There's actually a rather interesting Buffy/Harry Potter crossover fic getting posted at the SlayerPups list lately.

Basically, what it comes down to for me is this: if you can come up with a solid, believable premise for how the two series' characters meet and interact, then it's fair game, really. Gratuitous crossovers just because someone happens to like both shows and shoves the two casts together for fun? Eh. That only works if you're deliberately playing it for laughs and amusement value.

But hey, this is Zahir we're talking about! I'm sure you'll do it right.

"And if there is a way to find you, I will find you; but will you find me if Neil makes me a tree, an afro, a pharaoh? I can't go, you said so, but threads that are golden don't break easily . . ." -- Tori Amos

What's the link of that Buffy/Harry Potter crossover fic???? I'm working on one myself, and I don't wanna be blamed for copying stuff later, while I've been working on this for months now! (I know, I'm slow... very much schoolwork going on)

If anyone can give me an URL, so I can read it, it would be mucho appreciated!

This idea has been brewing in my head for a while now...
Willow Vader
Can Willow resist the power of the Dark Side of the Force?
Starring:
The Fear Demon from 'Fear Itself' as Yoda
Werewolf Oz as a mutant Ewok
Veruca as Chewbacca's bride
Xander as Han Solo
Wesley as Obi-Wan Kenobi (cause I always thouthg he'd look good in a flowing robe..)
Dawn as Luke Skywalker ("Dawn, never mind the monks. I am your mother!" "But .. but .." "Look, just go along with it, okay? You need to have some kind of deep-rooted angst to fuel your battle against evil." "Oh, okay.")
Tara as Princess Leia
The Mayor in snake form as Jabba the Hut
Faith and Buffy as Jabba the Hut's dancing girls who just so happen to have mystical ass-kicking powers combined with lethal death-ray bikinis
Amy as Willow Vader's chief lieutenant
Snyder as Emporer Palpatine
Anya as Chewbacca (who had unfortunate accident and mutated into a bunny)
Giles as a slightly dazed Egyptologist who wandered into the wrong desert

Willow Vader has it all! Action, adventure, romance and mutant Ewoks! Book your ticket now!

Wow, that makes me feel special!

Because I can't resist--Fusion is/will be a multiple crossover placing Willow and Tara amid some favorite ideas, places, situations, characters from several other shows. It'll be wild, I promise you. And kinda epic.

Just hope you like science fiction...

I've read some cross over fics with the charmed ones that worked great. Something like a co with witchblade would be cool or with a cop show, that's more of a personal assestment cause I love a good cop or fed story.
