I am amazed by nobody. Truly just compelling. Dark but hopeful, it makes sense. Please more soon, it's so good.

I join Rane in standing back in awe - you paint such a visual scene, so dark and complex and brilliantly written. Wonderful characterisation... we feel their pain.

God, there are too many amazing writers on this board!!! I can't keep up!

Well, I'm glad everyone seems to like it (in a sick, sadistic way ) and, most importantly, buy it (Xita said it made sense, woohoo!!!). It was very depressing to write. It wiped me out! Now I've gotta deal with the fallout in subsequent chapters. I think I'm going to continue to be depressed. Sigh. That's okay. It's my natural state.

As for it being so visual, I'm a hopelessly visual person. My training is in journalism and, to a lesser extent, screenwriting. In both cases, I almost always start with a picture--either from real life for an article or in my head for a script--then try to describe it on the page. I've never really done creative fiction before, but I guess it makes sense that it would come out visual as well. Hmmm. I'm glad you enjoy it.

And dear Rane. First of all, you're a fab writer, so I'm thrilled with your comments. Second, I'm so pleased you like S-K. They are one of the all-time greats in my book. Years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting them a couple of times in a professional capacity. They are lovely people. Intense, but personable. Carrie actually once apologized to me after a show for not replying to an e-mail I'd sent something like 4 or 5 months previous. I couldn't believe she'd take the time or even remember such a small thing. They're great!

Charlie, I'm very jealous that you're off to take advantage of that awesome 2-for-1 Buffy/Angel video deal. Why is it that the Brits get all the DVD sets before we do AND get the good video deals, as well? Plus they have sexy accents. It's just not fair! BTW, I'm LOVING your fic!

Well, my girlfriend took my lucky flannel puppy-dog print jammies downstairs to the laundry. She was using tongs as I refused to give them up before I was done with Chapter 3. I'm powerless to write without them, so I won't even begin the next chapter until they are returned to me. So, it's an afternoon nap for me!

Thanks to everyone for reading and your comments. They are SO very much appreciated.

I wanted to leave you a comment last night but found myself too tired.

First, I wanted to tell you that this is extremely skillfully and enjoyable written and all these little quirks and details make it so much more real.

Second, I loved the way you described Willow in the bedroom, not wanting to be discovered. I had this situation, although less serious dozens of times and you capture the feeling so well with just a few sentences.

Third, it's great you are not forgetting about the angst..it can be harder to write because it requires more effort to develop a believable solution. But I trust in you to find just the right tone and way to find these solutions. As long as it's that well-written, I'd enjoy everything, W/T together or not.

Fourth, I'd pay you but I don't trust these damn Internet transactions...maybe next time, huh?

Fifth, thank you so very much for sharing this with us!

Have a great day.

I must say, I am in awe of your writing talent. Your ability to grasp and convey each nuance of a character's actions and emotions is amazing. I'm tempted to remove my work from this board completely, as it doesn't hold a candle to the caliber of your work. This is an absolutely riveting story. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

"Charlie, I'm very jealous that you're off to take advantage of that awesome 2-for-1 Buffy/Angel video deal. Why is it that the Brits get all the DVD sets before we do AND get the good video deals, as well?"

Yeah, but darling, we have to wait months before actually getting the eps on TV! And if you're a poor student and don't even have Sky you have to wait till the blooming boxsets come out before seeing it at all! Payback I say... we're owed!

*finally gets dragged off to bed by Vicky after watching stupid amounts of her new season 2 and 3 boxsets all night*

Edited to say: but, yeah we do have sexy accents

Heh heh heh Charlie...sexy accents to anyone who's not already British, right?

Okay then, I'm loving this. It's so dark and depressing. And you know what? Sometimes I like to lose myself in that and just give it up to the badness. And that's kind of good. If you know what I mean.

yes, i love it!

the visualness. with the mud and the blood and the... eech, puking. but still, it's very, um... troubled and vulnerable. which is Willow.

so i just sat down and read the whole thing and i must say i'm hooked. so when's the next part coming? hehe

totally and absolutely and one-hundred percent 'oh my goodness' type wow. part three blew me away and i mean in the sense that when it finished and i noticed that i was still sitting at this desk, i couldn't believe i'd been here the whole time.

by the way, a sleaterkinney tidbit [can i mention how much i love this band? it's right up there with this fic.] i read somewhere, i want to say a killrockstars interview with carrie, that the belt janet weiss wears in the hot rock cd jacket was given to her by sarah michelle gellar. apparently corin tucker is a huge buffy fan. yay.

here, i pulled up the bit from the site in case you guys are about the proof:

11.19.99 Rocko asks: Dear Carrie, Do you know what's the deal with Janet's white belt? Every photo of her, every time I've seen her in person, since the release of "The Hot Rock" she's been wearing that belt. What's the story?
Carrie: That belt was given to her by Sarah Michelle-Geillor (aka Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Janet doesn't even watch that show but Corin is such a huge fan that she asks Janet to wear it all of the time. I'm not sure why Janet won't just give the belt to Corin.

[actually, i just wanted to convince myself that i didn't make it up.]

sorry for getting totally off topic in this, but really, i so pumped about an update. feel free to leave me emotionally drained yet again. in fact, please do. you rock.

Thanks for that info about Janet Weiss's white belt, AnonymityRocks! How cool that Corin is a big Buffy fan!

Thanks also for the kind words about the fic, everyone. I will warn you that it will be several days before there is an update. I'm sorting through a difficult plot point and I want it to play as realistically as possible. That normally requires a great deal of brooding on my part. And perhaps some wine. We'll see.

Now don't get your panties in a bunch! (Unless that somehow feels good to you. )I'll get something posted, ummm...soon.

Besides, according to a recently transplanted thread about Fan Fic, I'm just writing a bunch of cliches anyway!

Sorry for the delay. Honest.

Postby Nobody » Sat Feb 23, 2002 10:12 am

Oh, boy. I got a sick little feeling when I saw this had been resurrected from the dead and kicked to the top of the board. I received a paid writing assignment in January and it took up all my time until recently. I did write a bit more of Bleeding Out, but I felt I'd lost momentum since others on the Pens have covered Willow's addiction storyline very thoroughly and BtVS itself seems to be rapidly pushing W/T back together (thank god!). There are places I really wanted to go with this story, but I feel, because I got so delayed with my other work, it has outlived its shelf life.

Please forgive me for leaving you hanging.

The good news for those of you who enjoy the style of this story, is that I am hard at work on another Willow-centric tale. This one is set about year into the future. It, too, is very dark and very adult, but not in the same inner-angst way. Willow and Tara are happily together in it. I don't want to say too much other than I'm very excited about it.

I want to have many--if not all--chapters finished before I post any of it, because I don't want my crazy schedule to get in the way again.

Thanks for reading and I promise that my next story will have an ending.

I'll be back...soon.

I just discovered this story two days ago, and I have to say I was totally captivated by it and by the outstanding quality of the writing. I'm disappointed to see that it won't be completed, but I'm pleased that there will be something new to look forward to. I hope we won't have to wait too much longer for the new fic. Are you REALLY sure you don't want to complete this? I would love to see where you were planning on going with this.
