Poetry

Hey kittens since I've seen some requests for more poetry on the board I thought I'd give it a try. I hope it doesn't suck too badly, usually I only write poetry in Spanish and when it's translated it just isn't the same, a lot of things don't rhyme or fit, so... sorry if it might sound funny . I'd like to share this in both languages for those who speak Spanish, you be the judge.

I know you
--------------
I know you
I knew you before I was born into this life
I knew you before all my previous deaths
I saw your coming in dreams
You crossed the edge of the abyss in your bare feet
You walked to the end of the night
I drew new words into my colorless world with the red ink of your lips
Now I live not in shadow
Not on the barren ground
I live in the open space of your hands and embrace

Te conozco
--------------

Te he visto en sueños

Drunken song
-----------------
Your mouth is the illusion
The honey and the drunken passion.
Your words are a midnight poetry a balcony serenade.
Your hands are the garden where the moon slumbers behind the sun.
Your hips are a shadows secret whisper and the song that spills forth on this page
A love song, perhaps not wholly in tune but surely born out my love for you.

Canción Ebria
-----------------

Thank you Rane. I agree that poetry does sound sexier in Spanish, no offense to the English language is intended... but Spanish is a much more complex language, it lets you express feelings in a more fulfilling manner.
That's just my opinion and it's probably beyond biased since Spanish is also my mother tongue.

This line is beautiful:

"I know you" - What a work of art! I thought it was simply beautiful. Sure, I'm part Spanish - but I'm pretty hopeless with learning the languages of my forefathers. I guess I'm gonna have to stick with English. Anyhoo... I thought it was just beautiful.

Thank you kitties, (sigh!) I'm getting some kittens to *sigh* in their posts I'll take that as the highest compliment.
I'm working on translating some more.

here's two more hope you like them and pixie muso thanks for the compliment.

High
--------------

When you feel life like a high
It's flying time
Here comes the rush
Here lies the fire
There goes my life
Abandoned to desire
It's time to crash
It's time to see
How angels do grieve
Souls are sold
We are lost
There's no here
There's no left
There's only the big red empty -up ahead-

Volando
----------------

Cuando sientes la vida como una droga
Ahí vuelas
Aquí viene ella veloz por las venas
Aquí arde el fuego
Allá va mi vida
Por el deseo consumida
Es tiempo de estrellarse
Es hora de ver
Como si lloran los ángeles
Las almas se venden
Estamos perdidos

The traveller

-----------------------

I shall search for your face trough out the ages
I'll keep the image of you sacred and guarded behind my eyes
All the while walking through entire cities
that seem like strange universes
Without you
I will look for a magus to serve as my guide
I will learn to levitate in dreams if I must to find you
So that one night when you speak
It's my breath you'll feel inside your mouth
One night when your eyes have opened or even closed
You'll share with me the bizarre visions I have chosen for you to see
Of these new worlds
And one night when you dream about the fires and the flames of illusion
You'll sigh in relief and drink the air in mouthfuls
Because you'll know with all certainty
That I am near
That I am coming
That I will hold you to me and never let you leave.

Caminante
-----------------------

Mientras recorro ciudades enteras

amen to that. "me recuerdan sin remedio" - ooh, that's perfect, those types of memories can be so maddening, and yet omnipresent like the crashing of the waves...and the beach is so long...but you know that it comes to an end eventually...and really, you could walk back up from the shore, but something keeps pulling you back - "surging like the sea, pulled to you so helplessly!" requete-*sigh*....thanks again!

Awww... I love the new poems too! They kinda remind me of my the works of my favourist visual artist James Gleeson (Australian Surrealist, b. 1915). I could look at his work all day long... and read these poems all night long.

Beautiful work again Nika!

hello thank you all for the great replies, I hope I haven't tired you yet, here's two more
really short ones. By the way "angel"in no way takes after old tall, dark and vampy I wrote it way before his time.
cachaco you got it perfectly and pixie gracias.

Silent night

-------------------

This dark night my eyes bleed sleep
And my words pray for silence.
My fists are raised, protesting and screaming at the moon
While my lips fall mutely upon the ground.

Noche de silencio
-----------------------

Absent angel
-------------------------
Hey angel- you're my demon
The elixir of your lips
Has turned into a venom for my soul
Night after night it runs through me
Wearing the ever present body of your absence
Like death, like torture
Hey angel- you're my demon

Angel ausente
---------------------------

Noche tras noche me tortura y mata
Angel eres mi demonio

Cama en el mar

Un beso- ánfora de vino rojo
Una piel- leve sabor a lluvia
Unos ojos- fuego de luna
Un sol de sueño azul
Una cama profunda en el mar
Unos amantes levitando
Un aroma vuelto poesía
Una noche -húmeda -vertiginosa
Unos cuerpos unidos-éxtaciados
Un mundo nuevo creado
Una palabra inmortal pronunciada
Unos amantes levitando
Un vuelo nocturno en el mar.

Sea bed

One kiss a red wine chalice
One light rain tasting skin
Two eyes with a moon beams fire
One blue dream sun
One bed in the deep sea
Two lovers levitating
One aroma turned into poetry
One night humid-spiraling
Two bodies joined in ecstasy
One new world created
One immortal word spoken
Two lovers levitating
One deep sea nocturnal flight

Deseo liquido

Liquid desire

What I desire is to see delirium reflected in your eyes
Your eyes, that are like onyx stones lit by the golden fire of my touch.
What I desire is your body turned into sea froth and nacre
So I may sculpt mine into sand and into water.

Nea

Recuerdo yo esa embriaguez primera

Nea

(Ever have a night in the arms of a virgin goddess? )

I awaken in the arms of the night
Caressing the pale moonlight
Breathing in the living aroma of the stars
Awaiting to sink myself so deeply within your unused hips
They are still so new and free from the smell of the narcissus of spring.
Through my window comes in the timid shadow of the word
This whole silence has been fragmented, on my skin the memory
Of each kiss continues whispering and dancing
So now when sun lies down to sleep, beyond the beacons, right at the edge of the ocean
I remember that first time drunkenness
Borne of the nocturnal dark honey that lay in between your unused hips.

Poeta

Poeta: bohemio, amigo mío
Loco perdido
Ingenuo caminante

Poet

(Tara as poet comes to mind)

Poet: bohemian friend of mine
Lost and insane
Naïve traveler
Hunter of the evasive word
She who is an unknown muse
Give rein to your creation
Or be torn apart by your silence
Roam through other worlds
This one is not your own
This earth shuns the mystery of hidden beauty
The reader shall never understand
The sadness in your hands
Nor the tiredness of your fingers
Your eyes are your writing pen
The paper is your lover
It's also your ineffable emptiness
Search if you wish, for the coveted immortality
And find the goblet of the cynical wine
And the barren poem of wasted time.

Despertando

Awakening

(With this one I see Tara thinking of willow in the waking hours, when the defenses of reason are down)

Your mouth full of honey is my poetic drunkenness
by the light of a red candle.
Midnight comes to the balcony where I live
I await to drink from you to ease my thirst
I await to receive the magical garden of your hands
You're not here, you're not coming and the moon is taking flight
It's leaving to sleep at the back of the rising sun's embrace
And here I lay alone, awakened to the song of the first shadows
They sing in the air the inebriated melodies that spill forth on this page
That will be destroyed by the mornings reasoning where all is sane.

Solitario

Déjame tu permanencia
Llévate mi yo solitario
Nómbrame y bautízame otra vez
Trae el calor a este invierno
Calma esta tormenta de hastío
Dame de comer orquídeas púrpura
Dame de beber sortilegios
Cuéntame fábulas de semidioses desnudos
Y quédate en este tu sitio
Mi hogar
Mi exilio

Alone

(I can see willow saying something like this to Tara, cause this is about redemption through love)

Leave me your presence
Take my lonesome self
Name me and baptize me again
Bring the fire to this winter
Calm this storm of weariness
Feed me purple orchids
Give me to drink magical brews
Tell me the ancient tales of nude demigods
And stay where you belong
Your place
My home
My exile

Si yo soy

Yo soy la loca
La vagabunda
La solitaria
La perversa
La alcohólica
La mala
El ángel negro de alas empantanadas
La que no quiere nada
Todo
Ni a ti
Egoísta que castiga sin piedad
La irónica
La cínica
La obtusa
Sobretodo y después de todo
La que tu mas amas
Amaras
Y jamas tendrás.

Yes I am

(MMMHHH...This one I don't know about it's the dark side of everyone I suppose)

Yes I am the crazed one
The wanderer
The lonely
The perverse
The drunk
The bad seed
The dark angel with dirty wings
The one who wants nothing
Everything
Not even you
An ego maniac who likes to punish without mercy
The ironic one
The cynic
The obtuse
Besides that and after all that
The one you that love the most
Shall always want
Will never have

"Y el poema baldio a medio terminar"

that's a really nice line...but not a problem you seem to have! these poems are quite full...of goodness, that is!

"El angel negro de alas empantanadas"

very evocative image. makes me think of that garcia marquez story about an old man with dirty, broken wings who appears in a coastal village one day without explanation...he's kept in a cage like an animal and eventually dies there...it's never clear if he's supposed to be an angel or just...a man with wings.

and i love, love, love, the images of W and T saying these poems aloud while alone and thinking of the other...the idea of Tara reciting "Despertando" at 3 in the morning, sitting in the windowsill of wherever it is she's living now, looking up at the moon...reciting it IN SPANISH? (gasp, swoon...*dies*) ooh, ooh, a spanish poetry version of OMWF, it's the ultimate pens project!

going off to melt in a corner now...thanks for the yummy braincandy!

Well I'm at it again here are two more the first one I can see both of them saying it or thinking something akin to it about one another.

The second is very nuch willow on one of those sleepless nights of magic and Tara withdrawl.

Ageless

The hours, the centuries, the millenniums may pass if they wish
Time does not matter, I will love you through them all the same
The seconds renew themselves in your presence, the moment does not age
History does not wither in its passing
You remain intact in me as the pendulum sways
The nothing and the absolute vanishes within our embrace
This pulsating love is reborn time and time again
Your being echoes within my spirit
Every instant you remain leaves a memory that cannot be erased inside me-
An indelible print
You are like a star to me -brilliant, unique, mythical and eternal
Eons may be born, eras may die
And you my love shall remain in me ageless in time.

Living room for an insomniac

New moon rising of my life and death - never ending insomnia-
She sings my blues with a sax by the window sill
Each note she plays touches and destroys the blue sky of my tone deaf insanity
The street is smoky and wet under the pale light
This room is a black sun, a desert for tired ghosts
The isolated beast rages from within it's golden cage
Her master paints graffitis of blood upon a luxury wall
These words are a glance to the walk way, mirrors for the lost hours
For the long gone souls and defeated faces
This bed now empty is not my refuge, it's a night mare
My own room in hell for waiting.

----
"The seconds renew themselves in your presence, the moment does not age
History does not wither in its passing"

that is so, so beautiful, nika. i love the idea of time renewing itself as it passes in that space where you're with your loved one, completely in the moment. magic indeed! it's as if the time that passes doesn't pass but accumulates - those types of memories are "the best times of our lives," and as you create more, something *grows*, something that's more real than the rest of everyday life, that you keep with you through time and that adds on to who you are...the (re)generative power of love...*sigh*...very W/T appropriate! their magical skills are a metaphor for the intangible spark, the extraordinary quality that fated lovers have...charmed, indeed.

i only wish i could create stuff like this, i guess that's why i keep commenting...critics are failed artists, right? mmmm, yummy, thanks again!

Hi here's another I think It's more Willow thinking about what she's lost but it could go either way. There are great loves that cause us great pain to the point where we lose everything that we are, or at least that's what it may feel like for a while.

No vivo- No soy

Sin ti no vivo
Apenas respiro
Si solo tus labios me causan sed?
Apenas respiro
No tengo ni espíritu
Sin ti, no soy yo.

I'm not living- I'm not me

How can I live without you
If you take with you all that I am?
How can I feel my skin
If you take my passion entwined in your finger tips?
How can I breathe
If you take the with you the vital air that makes my heart beat?
How can I see
If I can't look at the world through the blue of your eyes?
How can I drink
If I only thirst for your lips?
How can I feed
If my primal hunger is only awakened between your breasts?
How can I move
If there is no future to walk towards without you?
If you're thinking of forever leaving
Grant me one last request
Send red roses to accompany me in my grave
Because without you I'm not living
I'm barely breathing
I'm less than soulless
Without you
I'm not me.

This is something that's been on my mind magic and love...usually leads to hot, maybe it's just twisted little me.
Don't be shy let me know what you think, even if you think it sucks,I'm a feedback ho'
This time it's more Tara on willow (He, that sounded alot less naughty in my head)

Kitty17, thank you too and yes I'd be happy to help you translate, you may e-mail me at latinnika@yahoo.es

Templo Pagano

Pagan Temple

I walk with an uncertain path under my feet
I think of you and the expression of my eyes undergoes a change
It turns into a mirror where heresy and madness can be reflected
You are the dilemma the new storm amiss the calm
How I wish to drown between your lips
drink from them like they were cups of the finest and scarcest wine
Intoxicate myself with your aroma
Lose myself in the ecstasy of caressing your feline back with only my breath
Taste the endless sea that is your body
Bite your skin like the fresh apple that did condemn us all to this hell
Find again that lost paradise by trespassing with fire your lunatic eyes
Joining the wetness of my tongue with the thirst of my fingers
To pave the way of the pale tremors that are borne in valley of your breasts
And travel the routes of nacre and sweet tasting salt where
The frenetic spasms run through until reaching their final destination
The inner thighs the in between
Where the night is a beginning not an ending
Where blue melody and poetry is born
Where desire is tainted red
In between the sheets we live to scale towards the mystical delirium
The bed is the temple where I worship you
Here I devour reality and the chimerical fantasy
At last after the scream comes the peace
Even if in between your thighs I still feel all that rhythm of the rhapsody divine
That's the rhythm that makes your body my pagan temple.

ahhh, what a nice welcome home from a trip to my parents' for christmas to find this regalito del nino dios waiting for me under the willowtree...what can i say, nika, de nuevo me has asombrado, these lines are just too beautiful...but what happened to the translation of this one, perhaps my favorite?

quote:

i can't get over that, it's just too good. wait, i'm trying...no, i just can't.

on the other ones i've clipped above, i love the way you're able to capture "la primitiva hambre" that a lover's body evokes, the commingling of aesthetic wonderment and raw need. your images - "el mar que hay en tu cuerpo," "la manzana fresca que nos condeno" - are of things that are both primal and powerful, because a lover's body is both beautiful and terrible, it exerts a pull that undermines all your defenses and taps into a knowledge and a drive that defy articulation. you're helpless before it....

oh, and i know exactly what you mean about the "manzana fresca," i like to bite playfully at my wife's shoulder, and that's just what it feels like, the surface tension of the skin with the slight give underneath...again, right on.

gracias de nuevo!
