Writer Wanted For new Fancomic

Postby SpookyKitty » Thu Mar 07, 2002 11:43 am

I'm looking for anyone who wants to write for a bi-weekly comic strip series. It will center around Willow and Tara, and the supporting cast of Buffy and the rest of the Scooby gang. I'll get some samples of my art ready if anyone is interested in seeing examples. Basically, it'll be a cute, funny series, sort of like 'Battle On!' from the Xena Fandom. You can see it at: www.xenafan.com/battleon
I think it'd be a great idea to make something like that for the Buffy fandom. So, yes, that is my proposal, so any writers out there interested please reply!
Oh, and the rules of the strip are mainly: No porn, bad language, or really graphic violence. The bad language part, I'm a little leniant on. The characters can say "Oh, crap" once and a while but nothing stronger than that. I'd like this to be something everyone can enjoy. It would be great if some people could give me examples of their writing. If you guys want, I could draw up something and you could write a caption for it and then we'll go from there? I dunno, whatever works.

Cool, it could be me (Willow-4-Tara,) willow420 and jessie who write the comics for you. I couldn't read the sketch because the site said that it was unavailable. What are (Spooky Kitty, willow420 and Jessie) your ideas for a good story?

Well, from the sample (the Xena comic), my guess is something that's not TOO involved. Like, nothing epic. Something that, if you miss a few, you aren't lost.

Perhaps a series of one-shots or two-parters?

Also, I'm torn as to where to begin. Should we: (1) fill in the gaps in the eps from when they were first getting together (2) have a separate side story, kinda having nothing to do with the show? (3) getting back together?

There're so many options ... we should narrow it down. Then, it's all about dialogue. Once that's done, artists extraordinaire will use facial expressions and body language to bring it all together. (In my mind, it's the artists who really convey the message in a comic).

Anyway, my two cents.

Cool. I think we can do great as a team comic book writers. I think number 1 and 2 are the best options. Not sure which one to do out of those two. If you are on hotmail, contact me at br2002@msn.com

Then we can use msn chat and talk quicker.

I definately like this idea. I don't have MSN chat but you can contact me via e-mail, I check it regularly, and maybe we can throw some ideas around.
To see the sketch just drag the URL to your address box or cut and paste it and it should work.

That was my favorite idea as well ... but in no way was my list complete. So, if there are other ideas ... as I would say to Ker, hit me!

I can be found on line at CSpotGo (AIM) or jdcioffi@msn.com (MSN). Always around ... somewhere.

Maybe we should start with Hush and work our way up to the present. Nothing like starting at the beginning to get things right.

Sounds like a plan to me ... I like the idea of those "in between" moments. It helps round out their relationship ... and that way, we don't have to do a lot of back story. It's already out there, y'know?

Wow, such feedback! =(*.*)= I'm good with whatever you guys come up with. Maybe the series should be more like the less famous (and frankly, rightly so) Blunder on! Created by Joxer/Gabrielle Shippers. No offense to them is intended by it, but many found it a really poor excuse for a parody of Battle On and uh...but now I'm really digressing... Anyway, This series, had a Weekly strip and a monthly Strip. The Weekly strip was your basic newspaper strip, with about three or four panels. The monthly one was a colored ongoing dramatic series and was a full comic book page long. This would be great cuz we could have the more action/drama oriented writers on the monthly, and the humour quirky writers on the Bi-weekly (I can't do weekly, just not enough time!) anywho, just a suggestion, seeing as I just can't choose one person cuz so many great ones have a replied (I was expecting like one...maybe two replies) But whatever works the best for you guys. BTW, You can reach me at my hotmail address: SpookyKittie@hotmail.com.

I'm not up for the long story, I don't think. I could collaborate and help flesh out ideas, but I think, for me ... the smaller one-shots and two-parters are better.

I'd also like to write with someone. Like, we have an idea and all chip in our thoughts. Then, maybe Spooky Kitty, since it was your idea, could help direct us.

Just a thought.
