It's Worst Singer In the World Thursday, MKF 1/30

Postby WebWarlock » Thu Jan 30, 2003 7:28 pm

I am enjoying American Idol as well.

And the pissier Simon gets the more I like it.
Now, about that worst singer. I saw that guy doing "like a virgin". Dear lord. He was in shock by what Simon said. I loved it.

Or as my sister said to me tonight "there is nothing but shit on tuesdays anyway, might as well watch people humliated on TV."

What am I the worst at? Singing. Hands down. By some wierd twist of (good) fate, the amount of alcohol it takes to get into so I will sing is twice what it takes for me to pass out. So even as stupid drunk I don't embarass myself by singing. I got plenty of other things.

I am also terrible of keeping mental time. I always have to look at my watch, I just have no concept of it. I can tell you what the tempature is within 2 degrees, I can find south even in building or underground, but I have no clue if five minutes has passed or 20.

:lol what a great thread!!! :applause

Hmm, well, I'm pretty crap at remembering peoples names...they tell me them and it goes in one ear and out the other!!! Remember faces really well though! :grin

I'm also terrible at needlework of anykind! can just about sew on a button but that's about it...but give me woodwork, metal work, etc and I'm fine! :lol

I love singing...I took jazz singing at uni and have done a couple of musicals...:blush I also love the theatre and did my degree in Drama, I just get such a kick out of being on stage and reaching peoples emotions...:) And I have recently taken up dance class, (latin and ballroom), in an attempt to gain some grace of movement! :lol It's great fun!!!

And Zippy, may I just add my favourite quote from Prince of Thieves...'Something vexes thee?' (the Sheriffs Witch to the Sheriff) cracks me up, every time, that whole scene!! :lol

As for W/T...I agree with all of your suggestions...! :grin

Snuggles,
Jo xxxxxxxxx:love

Okay, I thought of a few more things. Mel jogged my cobwebbed brain.

I really suck at remembering peoples names, but have NO problem introducing myself to EVERYONE in a room (look out in vegas girls). :grin

I have no concept of what can't be done. If I begin a sentence with "watch this..." or "It's for your own good" be prepared for anything. Leatherqueen has mentioned that this can be disturbing. :eek

I have a hard time remembering to eat EVERY day, and has gotten worse being single.

That's it for now

Well judging from these responses I think we can safely assume that the kittens won't be performing an all-singing all-dancing OMWF musical anytime soon. Unless inebriated of course.

Mmmm. But your very good at getting lost in empty supermarket car parks

What can I say, its a newly acquired quality that will no doubt be brought to the fore on many future occasions. You know, just to get it right. And clearly I'm not fussy. Fast food chain car parks work just as well. ;)

cesario21: I'm with you on the remembering people's names. I'm Awful, awful, AWFUL. They tell me, and I think by the time I'm saying, "hey, it's nice to meet you" or whatever, I've already lost it from my memory. :spin

Elsewhere, for whatever reason, I can't FOR THE LIFE OF ME, sing along while playing an Ani Difranco song on the guitar. I'm not sure what it is...'cause i can sing along with other songs that I finger pick...but not Ani's stuff. :sigh

Whenever I try, I just end up sounding as though I lack the ability to speak the english language even though it's my native tongue. :(

Of course I wouldn't want to lead you all on and have you think that I can legitimately sing, 'cause I don't believe I can do that either! ;P I can generally hit the right notes per say, but my voice is crap. Nothing special. Definitely nothing to write home about.

take care!
-annie ;)

Things I'm bad at... That's a pretty long list. But first and foremost would probably be singing. I was once singing a bit of a song for someone to try to recognize and she very politely asked if I was in choir. For a moment I was touched and replied with a heartfelt 'no'. She then proceeded to reply with a heartfelt 'Thank God!'. So sad...

And math. I'm absolutely terrible at math. Horrible even. Numbers laugh at me. Though otheres can't hear them, I know they're cackling their little arithmatic bums off. Stupid numbers.:happy

wowza! now...no way am I a good singer..HOWEVER...being able to belt out something in a smoky bar-room, or even a Chinese Restaurant does not require an music degree from the Berklee College of Music....and I've earned the down payment on my condo from gigging in bars. There's a trick/secret involved. It's finding the right MATERIAL for your voice, transposing it to a key that you can work with, and then putting your soul into the song. Sometimes, you have to do other little things, like tuing your instrument down a half-step, to make things easier for you. For example - guys like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Mike Ness from Social Distortion always tuned down because they couldn't sing any other way. So don't ever say that you can't sing - eveyone is born with a song inside of them - the song that makes us human. Any one of us can do it...the music is just there waiting there for you to unlock it...

Or, if you're Geri Halliwell, being unable to sing doesn't mean you can't have a successful career doing precisely that.

And hey, Paula Abdul. Getting back to the topic of American Idol 2, I was telling my sister about the programme and she nodded and said; "Paula Abdul. Great dancer."

:lol

I'll throw my vote in with the lack of singing ability crowd. Thankfully I can draw and paint....or I would go nuts. My big problem? Sticking to something and getting it done...the mural on my walls are half done, my schoolwork is rarely completed until the period before.....or a few days later :D I just can't help but procrastinate. What do I do instead? Sit on the kitten board. So I guess good comes out of it afterall.

Willow and Tara? I love their wardrobe, it rocks booty. I cant see Tara being outright mean. I can see her getting stern if it is for the good of the person, but mean just to hurt them? Never. I can't see Willow being really good at anything very craftlike if it requires pure imagination...I can see her doing adorible little popsicle people or something, but anything else she'd like a good instruction manual to come with it ^_^
