It's a haunted Weekend MKF 9/28/02

Postby WiccansIllusion » Fri Sep 27, 2002 6:58 pm

Well I guess it counts for saturday, and I think this is On topic, since Willow and Tara have probably dealt with ghosts, hence Willow in the halloween ep where she was one.

The question I wanted to pose to kittens today, was about your beliefs in the supernatural. How many out there have sensed, seen or witnessed hauntings and such?

I for one used to go to a haunted college, and there was even a cemetary on campus. A friend and I had been walking by the chapel and we actually heard a little girl crying. And numerous nights, I'd driven by the windows behind the same area and seen some one waving down at me. It was rather errie.

I have no idea whether or not anything like personality survives physical death. Personally, I'm in no mood to find out for sure ([i:69954e6272]that'll come soon enough[/i:69954e6272]). But I'm utterly certain that something about our lives seeps into the places we live. Such places do feel haunted, and because we do feel it how can we not say it is?

And speaking of haunted colleges, there is no creepier campus I've ever been to than Stanford University. Believe me, that place radiates some kind of weird energy--so much so I half believe there might be a hellmouth nearby!

:hmm Yes, I believe in the supernatural...I agree with Zahir that we can leave an "inprint" on our surroundings that maybe some other people can feel or see later....I think that maybe when some people die, they aren't ready to go out into "the great beyond," and they just kind of linger around not knowing what's up or that they are dead.
BUT, I must add, I do NOT do ouija boards...they are too creepy and gross for me...and personally I wouldn't recommend them to anyone :no ....(as if my opinion counted...bleh)

My mum, aunty & nana are all into supernatural stuff, they go to this spiritual church thing once a week were they try and communicate with the dead.

My mum & nana scared me & my cousin shitless once not long after my granddad died by telling us that the many of the women in our family are psychic & that they could sense that we both had very strong powers. I was 8 years old!

I not to sure what I believe to be honest, I mean I think that there has got to be more to life & death than we know about, but then my inner scientist kicks in and reminds me it's all not logical.

Sometimes I am convinced though that my nana's house is haunted, I used to stay there all the time when I was little and some really freaky stuff happened. I still refuse to go into one of the bedrooms as I get a really horrible feeling when I go near it.

As you can see I'm all over the place on this subject!

Well I'm off to Newcastle to spend my pay, hope you all have a good weekend.

well I don't care what anyone else thinks. I've lived in a haunted house. The funny thing is....it's owned by Hank Williams Jr. yes HW Jr. live in Troy, AL. I hated that place....it was right beside a cemetary....it was completely creepy....many times I saw things floating in the room. My roomates and I only made it through one month because we were sooooo scared. Here's the really creepy part. We just packed up one day and moved.....didn't tell the real estate people or anything. We came back less than two weeks later to get some things we left in the shed....and the house (it was actually a trailer) was GONE. Just poof gone.

Ive never experienced any supernatural occurrences myself, but so many people have that I just have to believe that there might be something to it. We understand so little about the world around us, so I think the supernatural is just one of those things were still learning about and may never completely understand.

Im happy today because I got my laptop back from the repair shop (the power jack was loose). I had to use my cranky old desktop all week and I hated it. Ive been spoiled with my laptop, especially being able to surf from anywhere in the house and not being tied to an uncomfortable desk chair. Fortunately, my baby is home now and I just have to make sure I dont trip over the power cord again. An interesting tidbit though - computer repair people charge more per hour than the mechanic that fixes my car! Man, Im in the wrong line of work.

Hope all the kitties have a great fall weekend! :)

I don't know about haunted places, but I reckon that my footie team's ground has to be cursed. I've just watched us lose a 7th straight game this time against our fiercest rivals :cry

Come guys I need some cheering up

[b:1e61b6f790] Nix42[/b:1e61b6f790], I almost feel your pain,

however my team just matched the unbeaten run record for the premiership & they also set a new record for goals scored in consecutive league matches, oh happy day! :)

Plus Sunderland actually managed to win a game. It had to happen sooner or later, so all in all it's been a good a day for me football wise.

Sorry that probably doesn't cheer you up that much. :sigh

It's never happened to me personally, but I've seen some pretty freaky things on the History Channel and Unsolved Mysteries that make me think.

Yeah, but did it have to happen against the Villa? I don't know why I'm surprised. We're rubbish and we know we are :(

Heh. When I die I'm going to come back as a ghost and haunt all those people who've been mean to me. Oddly enough, that's a fair sized list, heh heh.

Interesting thread. The house I live in is around 100 years old and definately has at least one extra occupant. I know a man that is retired from the local police force who told me a story after he learned that I and two friends had moved into this house. He hadn't been on the force very long (so this was about 30 years ago) and they had to remove an elderly woman from this house. She simply couldn't take care of the house and herself anymore. He said she didn't struggle but was obviously very sad and evidently died within a few years of moving to a nursing home. I believe she has moved back in, specifically into the attic. Both of my friends have told me that they have sensed someone around them and we have all had odd things happen. One of my friends has epilepsy and is usually disoriented when she comes out of a seizure. However, she always asks me why the "old lady" is watching her. I've just started telling her that the lady is worried about her and watching over her. Several times I have been laying in bed and either felt someone sit on the side of the bed or actually feel as if someone is shaking me. I'm usually running late when those things happen. When we first moved in and started painting the bathroom it wasn't uncommon for the paint brushes to move or even disappear for a while. It wasn't until we started talking out loud about how we really liked the house and wanted it to be beautiful again that those things stopped happening. We took this house in large part because of the attic. Myself and my friend with epilepsy are both Wiccan and thought it would be a great place to do rituals, celebrations and medetations. I've only been up there a few times since we moved in though. Quite frankly, it feels like I'm intruding when I'm up there. I don't know. Just an odd feeling. A friend of my mother's lived in a house that was undeniably haunted. She would hear the front door open and close. She would hear someone yell to her that they were home, but her husband hadn't come in yet. The dryer and TV would turn off and on by themselves, and every night they heard someone walking in the attic above their bedroom and sigh as if they were laying down after a long day. VERY creepy! They didn't live there for very long! :lol Anyway, do I believe? Without question!

well, i don't know about my own experiences, but apparently sylvia plath haunts the bathtub in my best friend's house. let me clarify: we're at college; she lives in the house plath did when here. and supposedly the bathtub is haunted by her, on my best friend's floor mind you. apparently it's one wonky bathtub.
but i honestly have no clue of my opinions on this subject so isuppose it equates to not really having one, because i'm just exceptionally [i:4ab6ee50ff] not sure[/i:4ab6ee50ff].
peace out.

I have never had any spooky experiences, but I don't disbelieve in ghosts. I just have no personal evidence to lean me to one direction or the other. Supposedly there are a lot of stories surrounding various buildings at Vassar. The music building sometimes has ghostly playing pianos ... but once aagain, i've never experienced anything.

Why is it that I get so tired sitting at my computer, I then go to bed and lie down for a few minutes, and start feeling so awake, and then come back to the computer, and go back to feeling SO sleepy. What is up with that?!?

I think that I should take my computer to bed with me. Goodness knows nothing else is joining me.

When I was little there used to be a whole bunch of kids on my street, ages ranging from 8 (me) to 17. We'd do stuff together, fun stuff. Like on non-school nights wed all stay up and play weird games, camp out with little bonfires, celebrate birthdays and do the obligatory trespassing into the haunted deserted house out in the fields, sppok each other out with homemade horror stories about people who died creative creepy deaths on the premises. I [b:a830c6a459] loved[/b:a830c6a459] it.

RHFC, are you talking about the Whaley House? My mother saw what she thought was a ghost there. And my dad felt major vibes there: he said that there was a lot of pain and sadness in that house.

My gf's grandmother allegedly haunts a house. It's a sad story, actually. GF's grandfather was killed in a boating accident not long before he, his wife, and their five children were to move into a new house. After his death, they stayed put, and didn't move after all. But, after her death, GF's grandmother's ghost began haunting the house that she never even got a chance to live in. She's been seen looking out the window, as if she's waiting for her husband to come home.

GF lives in a small mountain town that's alleged to have a somewhat haunted history. Between talk of Native American spirits protecting the canyon, and talk of most of the houses in town being haunted, I will admit to getting a distinct creepy feeling when I'm there at night.

Do I believe in the supernatural? Yes. Have I seen ghosts? Yes. When I was in Louisiana, I saw a woman dressed in black in the fashion of the mid-1800s walking around the grounds of an old plantation. The tour guide told me that others had seen this woman before too. Ive seen my Dad on a few occasions, once in church and a couple of times in the hallway of my house. My Mother has been walking in the hallway too since she passed away in March. You can actually hear her footsteps and the door of her room opening. Ive also heard the bedsprings creaking, although she has been a little quieter recently.

Its odd that you should bring this subject up. Ironically, a friend of mine just went to a psychic party yesterday. The reader asked her if her best friend had lost her mother earlier this year. Becky said yes, and the psychic told her that my Mom said shes very happy where she is but shes going to be moving on now and that she wanted me to be happy too. She said that I should get on with my life and start doing things for myself instead of taking care of everyone else. It might just have been a coincidence, but then again, who knows? I just thought it was kind of curious.
