It's 'Don't Wanna Go to Work' Monday, MKF 9/16/02

Tomorrow's the first day of the "real" part-time job I got. I put real in quotes because I've been babysitting (which I did for 7 hours today for this cute little 2-year old girl who has a super precocious vocabulary), which I think is a perfectly viable job and I'll keep doing it because I love getting paid to play with kids, especially when it's a nighttime job and i get paid for watching TV. But I also have a job at the HDS library, at the circulation desk. Which means I'll get paid for doing work behind the desk. Hehe. :grin

I'm so incredibly proud of the fact I fasted today. It was very hard work. Especially since food is much more appealing than history homework
Just thought you all should know that.

I SO shouldn't have gone to work today. Of course, usually when I wake up with that dreadful feeling of "something bad is waiting for me there", you don't really come across the thought of possibly puncturing your finger with a screwdriver blade and going to get a tetnis shot, only to come back to work an hour and 5 minutes later and find a week's worth of work just kinda left for you there, which some of it should've been done the day before because you assigned it to that person, but no, you're the only one who can do a decent job of anything in your department....or, you know, do anything in your department...:: sigh :: ok, done ranting. :: calm ::

Yom Kippur... I don't know, Elianna, atonement? I always thought Yom Kippur is about walking huge distances in 35Celsius (which is, for US kittens, HOT) on completely car-free roads because thats the *only* thing to do ah, yes, and theres [b:1c2430bc1c] nothing[/b:1c2430bc1c] on tv. :) Never imagined it might have a religious content. Ahem. Nah, Im just kidding. Its a nice day and Im *so* not aiming to hurt anybodys feelings. Just a friendly little Jewish rant.

By the way, its not really two days, more like a day and a half and theyre kinda over, now. Actually, when the first Yom Kippur post was made in this thread there were about twenty minutes left to Yom Kippur in Israel And I dont think its Key-poor, more like Kee-poor, or Ki-poor.

And Elianna, yes, things stink here. Like hell. And its not the death rate thats really alarming, its how quickly you stop caring. I havent really watched the news in months. But this is the Kitten board I dont know if the rant-post I feel like making is relevant. Thank you for your offer though :) . I will take you up on it sometime, I warn you :)

I usually pronounce "key" as "kee". Maybe I'm just mispronouncing english. :)

Ms. Vertigo, Sh'at rotzah l'daber, tagidee lee. (If you can understand my transliteration.)

And I've only been in Israel for Tisha B'av, but it sounds like what you describe Yom Kippur as. My favorite holiday is Lag B'Omer. That and Tu B'Shvat. I can't decide.

Ah, memories of pretending to do work at the HDS library. . . FWIW, when I was there, the women studying in the law school library tended to be more attractive than the HDS library. :hmm Maybe that's why ultimately I went to law school . . . never thought about it that way before. :p

Elianna, oy, at metuka! hehe :) al de'aga, od ne'da'ber.

My personal fave is Purim, which is kinnda like Halloween, only with less pumpkin. Uh, most Jewish holydays have such a cool reasoning once upon a time, long long ago, someone tried to kill us all. They failed lets eat! I swear to god its the funniest celebration mentality, gotta love it. :)

(EDITED to add: if my teasing is offending anobody, just tell me and I will immediatly stop. I'm just joking around, not trying to bash my religion or anything)

Ani gam rotzah ledaber b'Ivrit, aval ze lo efshar, ci ani...lo tov...

I love Channukah! Just because of the yummy latkes, and it's the only festival I've been in Israel for. But I'll be there again this year! *cheers* and maybe Purim. Mrs Vertigo, maybe there will be a kitten meeting there, after all :D

Ani lo ma'amina, ca'ma dov'rey ivrit yesh po? maybe we should start a hebrew thread :)

Me, Im into Chanukah for the doughnuts. Oily goodness with jam! Actually, not unlike an Israeli jam tart. *cough* yep, jam tarts. And Im not hinting. Not at all.

Say, does anybody have a job they [i:5c1002cfb4] dont[/i:5c1002cfb4] hate? If so, howd you come by it?
