Bob, I put the teaser and the link on the Bronze Beta. They of course had the usual response.

Tim, how many hits is the essay getting on your website?

Ang started a thread to make a joke of the essay at BuffyGuide.com, but has yet to reply to it seriously. Nor has she done so with BostonWillowFan's response, which was posted to that forum as well.

Ok since going up the page has been hit 160 times.
That is really low.

Most are "bookmarks" which is what my stats calls any hit it can't figure out.

Here is the run down for august.

# Title hits %
1. It's Not Homophobia, But That Doesn 3,176 22.59
2. I Know Why Willow Weeps 1,437 10.22
3. The Other Side- Why I won't watch 1,333 9.48
4. The Message Is - 1,149 8.17
5. The Other Side- Willow and Tara 797 5.67
6. ...Beyond the Fourth Wall- The 678 4.82
7. The Other Side 560 3.98
8. The Other Side- Willow is Gay. Get over 387 2.75
9. The Other Side- Fiction 373 2.65
10. The Other Side- What Can I do? 356 2.53
11. The Dead/Evil Lesbian Clich FAQ 247 1.76
12. The Other Side- Willow Rosenberg 199 1.42
13. The Other Side- Netbooks 197 1.40
14. unknown page(s) 188 1.34

16. The Dragon and the Phoenix- Episode 1 168 1.19
17. The Other Side- Tara Maclay 165 1.17
18. The Executive Producer 160 1.14
19. The Other Side- Willow and Tara. Stats 158 1.12

So you are doing better than my game stats for Willow and Tara, but not by much. ;)

Hopefully this will change. I have seen it posted on a couple of lists so far. We need to put it on the Usenet as well.

Okay, that's just plain weird. Mean-spirited, too. Do I want to know what it says?

I guess it's to be expected from someone who doesn't seem to realize that her message - Joss has no responsibility, Joss can lie with impunity, nobody ends up happy - is at least as off-putting to potential new [i:7f3acebe67] Buffy[/i:7f3acebe67] viewers as ours is.

Bob,

Here's the jist of it, even if you don't want to know.

I think she's only paying attention to the last section in your essay, where you talk about how some people seem to think that Joss can do no wrong. So in another example of taking an argument to an extreme and only arguing against the extreme, she's saying that you accuse anyone who disagrees with you of being a Joss worshipper. (And she doesn't consider herself to be one, because although she's a fan of the show, there's plenty of things about it she doesn't like).

So yeah. Basically, she's ignoring the bits of the essay that are directed towards her and taking the part that's not directed towards her to be.. directed towards her? Okay, that was a confusing sentence, but hopefully you get the idea. If you don't, I can try again. :)

Coma123,

Yes we have been completely snubbed by Slayage.com. I guess they are only about linking Buffy news when it fits the party line. Sounds like the old version of the Russian "Pravda".

Bob,

Forget Ang. She is a nobody with no ability to put together a cognizant argument. What she does have are cheerleaders. I dont need to tell you this, but I know you have better things to do than trade barbs with someone that wont even bother to carefully read your words. If this is the best they can do, then I am seriously underwhelmed.

(Okay, this is something of an in-joke for those of you who've read my posts at the BGF...and a big hello to all you lurkers from that board out there...)

But is it just me, or does anyone else get the feeling that I needed to read these words almost as much as Bob?

And just like before, she's completely ignoring the entire paragraph where I specifically say that I [b:bc628bf7fd] don't[/b:bc628bf7fd] consider anyone who disagrees with me to be a Joss worshipper.

Well, at least she's consistent. :rolleyes

Maybe I should go over and ask her how many screenwriting credits she has. Then when it's less than the number I have (15) I can simply say she's an amateur who doesn't know what she's talking about. >:

Nah... I wouldn't do that... but it's fun to imagine sometimes...

Don't worry, Bob. What you just said will be probably be quoted on another board soon, after being copied here by a lurker or something. Then they'll just have more ammunition to belittle you. At least, I think that's how it works.
But what do I know? I'm just a crazy, militant man-hating evil LESBIAN.(Hey, Bob. They prolly think you are one too.)

Bob, can I suggest that you consider registering at the Buffyguide forums, so that you can put across your point of view? I appreciate it's probably the last thing you want to do right now, but it might be something worth considering, just so the members of that forum can see that you don't have horns on your head and cloven hooves...

Bob, you can continue to entertain yourself and us with such thoughts. :) I just posted a reply to her, which I'm not sure if she'll answer. Basically, I just pointed out what we all know, which is that you explicitly say you don't believe what she says you do believe. I can send you my reply, if you're curious.

And if my experience is anything to go by, some there will take it as an attack. And virtually none of them will acknowledge (or even raise the issue of whether) that anything of what Ari says (or what I say, or what Bob said) is accurate. Why should they? Pesky facts get in the way of the "big bad Kittens want to spoil our party" theory.

But the coolest thing at the BGF right now is seeing people like Ari and others stand up and say, in essense, "that's not what happened and I was there."

Adds a jot of balance to the universe.
