SMG Thread

July SFX magazine has a large bit of Buffy in it, just going to snip one bit about Amber that SMG mentioned in her interview:

I like SMG quite a bit -- she seems to have a good heart. I do agree with those who think a bit of weight gain's in order. It's terrifying to see her next to an actress who you know must be incredibly slender and fit to keep working, and who suddenly looks like Anna Nicole Smith by comparison. Anyone who makes a size 6-8 look like a size 14 is both eeny and weeny. And some people just are born so, but I don't think SMG was -- at least not to that extent.

I've had the great pleasure of seeing Sarah in person, and at least smiling and waving at her (was way too nervous to form words dammit), and she is PAINFULLY thin. Like, if I hadn't been so tongue tied I would have said to her, "Please, oh please, would you just eat this cookie?" There's 'looking good' for film, and then there's the extreme. I'd love to tie her to a chair and feed her a bigass roast dinner....

Um, that sounded slightly twisted, but you know what I mean.

She's my favourite person next to T/W. I'd love to kick her character's ass at times, but I think Sarah is pretty cool.

SMG is on the cover of the current issue.

The interview is the ususal "fluff" about her and FPjr, but it does contain one interesting remark. The interviewer brought up the fact that during the past season, her character was depicted as "unzipping" another character as well as "taking it from behind". Sarah then responded "Yeah, our show has gotten really raunchy lately."

So...even the "lead star" knows that there has been a serious change of "tone". I think it's likely that this (and not just money and/or career alternatives) may be why she has taken a non-committal attitude about signing up for an 8th Season or, indeed, any other "Buffy" related projects.

Hey, Arwen...sounds like that might make a good Buffy episode in itself. Although Joss would probably turn it into a "9 1/2" weeks re-make, with Spike tying Buffy up and feeding her scrumptious bits of Steakum by hand....wait, I just grossed myself out.

Still, all in all, I agree with you. I've always liked SMG. Even though S6 kinda warped my view of Buffy's character, Sarah did the best with what garbage scripts she had to work with. I don't blame her for being a little circumspect about committing to many more (or anymore) seasons after the next.

LOL......you know, I think they'd actually be sick enough to do that, but then Spike would probably eat Buffy. Sigh. Poor Sarah. These decent actress' should tell Joss to go and sit and spin on a big nail and walk out. They are worth so much more than that sick childs treatment.

Actually, you are right. She did not look nearly so thin in seasons one and two of Buffy. She was nicely round in the face, and curvy in the body. She has always been what I consider to be very lovely, I still do, but she could gain a few pounds and look a little healthier.

That said, add my name to the "I love Sarah" list. Yay SMG!

(and can I say that typing out SMG is very difficult for me because my fingers keep typing 'MSG' of the Asian food persuasion...)

[BFR from Paris]

Hi all!

Just sharing something funny yet slightly traumatizing : SMG is on the cover of "Tl Star" (a French TV guide, we don't have just one like you guys in America ) this week, and since this magazine is publicized in the mtro, there are posters of SMG all over in every wagon!

So basically, you can't take the mtro in Paris without seeing a picture of her smiling and this caption : "Un enfant? Je suis prte!" ("A baby? I'm ready!") in huge letters!

Note that SMG has been on every French magazine's cover recently, or so it seems... I wish Amber was more popular over here!

Anyway, I have SMG coming out of my ears, and like Willow would say, it's a metaphor
