My Girl is the best Friday, MKF 9/27/2002

Postby WebWarlock » Fri Sep 27, 2002 2:19 am

Well,

Here is the daily thread!

I was just thinking how I have the best girl in the world. I came home the other night from picking my son up from pre-school and there she was, in the kitchen fixing me a lemon cake.

Now you have understand. Natalie despises lemon. She likes lemonaid and a little on her sea food, but that is it. I on the other hand am a lemon nut! I'll eat just about anything lemon flavored, to point of drinking lemon juce with a litte water and sugar.

So I aske her what the cake was for, and she told just because I looked like I needed a cake!

This was not some box mix cake. No she was sifting flour and squeezing lemons for this!

So here is today's question. What has your girl (or guy as the case may be) done for you to make you go "awww!"?

I know we are all certain that Willow and Tara do stuff like that for each other all the time.

Otherwise have a great Friday!

Ohh Warlock Nice one.

The best thing my honey does. He leaves little love notes everywhere.

He NEVER uses the computer (it's mine damn it) but occassionally he'll create a page of love notes. He'll cut them apart and leave them all over. Once he wrapped one around the battery in my pager. That one, he had to wait three weeks for a payoff. I never know where or when they'll turn up. It's the coolest.

When we dated I used to punch 4-5683-968 into his pager. That is I Love you on the keypad. And that was way before text messaging.

Chow for now

W/T I'm sure would do notes. It's just so personal and sweet. :love

wellll, complicated story but suffice it to say I'm nuts, and severely OCD, which is no fun and complicated, very as good as it gets. anywhoo, she, obviously, knows this, anyway, if i walk in a room, which would theoretically be me unfriendly, she, not in a big deal way, just naturally makes it mefriendly, just right away, i dont even have to think about it, and it's reaaaaallly sweet. or it strikes me as such, cuz my instinct is always "you dont have to." or that i couldve just avoided and worked around whatever it was. (an arrangement of papers or somthing) but she does anyway, and it surprises me every time, but i guess i should get used it, and maybe i am seeing as i noticed enough to mention it to y'all. but it just makes me think of how in my head she is, without adopting my lunacy, and it just makes me feel special and cared for.
:)

edited cuz typos annoy me sooooo much.

Oh Im so hopelessly single at the moment. And probably about to stay that way for a while. *growls* all thanks to my beaming social skills and active night-life style. Er, just, uh, without the life-lyness, or, er, the style.

But Im thinking, waay back in season four, just after NMR when Tara said she was thinking about getting a cat Willow just up and got her one. Like, Tara comes back from her Modern Art History 101 lecture dead-tired, whips her dorm room door open, whips it shut behind her and throws her educationally-exhausted self on the bed only to be startled back to her feet by the [i:1daadf098f] very[/i:1daadf098f] bewildered, very not-delighted-to-be-nearly-seated-on eleven ounces of fuzzy black-and-white hissing and clawing feline cuteness that is Miss Kitty Fantatico,

and just goes [i:1daadf098f] Awww[/i:1daadf098f]

Drawing on history here, seeing as I'm no longer...well, you know, attached.

When Tara got her brain sucked by Glory I was, naturally, heartbroken. I cried a lot. Ahem. Anyway, my then girlfriend was visiting me and I'd spent a lot of time on the telephone blubbing over the fate of Tara and how awful it was. (and in retrospect, gah, I cringe considering Season 6) Anyway, I went to the airport to meet my girlfriend and she came off the plane with something held out in her hand for me.

A pot of applesauce and a spoon.

I think it was probably then that I knew she really loved me. I'll never forget that, heh. She was aces. She really was. Still is.

Well, I have to say this.

She doesn't drink coffee, not ever, but every morning, she gets up and makes it for me. Often brings me my first cup before I am out of bed.

Occasionally she doesn't make the coffee to keep me guessing and appreciative, but she usually does. And I always do. Appreciate it, I mean. Because she is the best.

When my gf flew back to the US after our first meeting I was really depressed. I went into work on the Monday and she sent me a dozen red roses. A friend had helped her track down my work address from IM conversations, they were very sneaky.

My lady has severe agoraphobia ([i:9d0c4bd52f]that's fear of open spaces[/i:9d0c4bd52f]) so she only leaves her apartment by a real effort of will. A few days ago, when I went to see her, she'd gone to the store just to buy a whole slew of drinks and things I like (that she doesn't).

Simple, I know. But it made me cry.

Wow, too many things to mention. Maybe the most recent would be my ingenious birthday present. She got me this book of really obscure early 20th century art nouveau French bike posters. I can't think of anyone else in the world who knows how much I would cherish it; I don't know where she found it or how much she paid, but one day the postman brought it and I was thrilled.

When I spend too much money buying books I don't have time to read OR space to shelve in the house, she doesn't complain. Anymore.

She gets along with my mother better than I do.

When I am too anxious to sleep, she rubs my back until I drift off. Yes, she is the best.

Gosh, there are many things that my girl does that make me gush with love :heart . We've been together 9 1/2 years so there are alot. They range from the spectacular, she just bought a new home for us, to every morning she brings me coffee in bed :love But mostly, it is her special kindness that she brings to the world everyday that makes me the most grateful. She is a doll.
You know, except when she is bugging the crap out of me :wink

Thanks Warlock for reminding me why I am so lucky. Peace and love to all Kittens everywhere.

Happy birthday to my best friend, my sister Erika!

I have to get nostalgic, myself. Although we broke up over a year ago, I have to recall the sweetest thing my ex had done for me. It was our first Christmas together (well, Hanukkah for her). I couldn't go home because I had to work through the holidays. So it was just going to be the two of us. But this is an extremely Jewish girl who despises the very notion of Christmas itself. The lights, the trees, the songs, the cookies - it just bugs her. She knew how upset I was to be spending my first Christmas away from my family ... and away from snow.

So she bought me a Christmas tree. I knew she hated it, and hated having it in the apartment, but she bought me a tree.

my gf just does small sweet things that make my day.. like a text message on my phone that says ilu.. or buying me a pack of gum to bring back to college with me. she is the pro at all those small things.. but the one thing she did that made me feel so special was our first romantic night together. she took me to the business were she works (and her family owns) and had a room upstairs (which is actually a storage closet) lit with candles and pillows and all that kind of stuff.. it was so sweet because she knew how extremely nervous i was. so now we joke that she actually took me into the closet..

One thing that my G/F does that completely amazes me is, She calls me in the morning before school, simply to tell me to have a good day and that she loves me...I mean, how can I have a bad day after hearing that...She's amazing, I honestly don't know how I got so lucky...but, I'm not about to complain. :grin

My girl left the States to move over here to rain-sodden England to be with me. We had to wait 5 years to get immigration sorted, 5 long stress-filled years where she couldn't go home at all, but this year her passport came back with the special stamp. This November she's back home to the States to spend time with her family, but she'll be back New Year's Eve so we can see the New Year in together. She's left everything behind for me, supported me as we suffered this August through the death of my beloved father, and still she thinks of me. She's excited to be going back home because of the things she might be able to bring back for me! How sweet is that?!! She is the best, my Black Country Yank as she is affectionally known by our friends!

Congradulations Taz. I wish you many years of love and happiness.

All of you guys are making me go sappy and say "awww" a lot. I'll admit, I'm a little jealous. I just wish that I will be able to find someone as nice as the people you have described.

As I am currently as single as one can possibly be :\

Thank you Web Warlock, this is a wonderful thread...

Being that my girl and I live quite far from each other, we often don't see each other much. It pains me alot, but I love her so much that I can live with the distance. In a couple of years I will move in with her, and I simply can't wait.
She always does things to make me happy. For example when I get up in the mornings, and turn my computer on, there's always an email from her, if not more. And then there's an IM from her telling me to write her, and when I do she gets up in the middle of the night to talk with me. She doesn't care that she has to go to work, she always gets up, and that mean so much to me.
Once when I was sick, she couldn't be with me, but I had her on the headset and I was laying in my bed and she was with me all the time. Most of the time I was asleep, but she didn't left my "side", she stayed with me and comforting me all the time. She sat by her computer for 6 hours so that I could sleep, and when I realised that I almost started to cry. Nobody has ever done that for me before...
She does little things for me all the time, and that's one of the many reasons I love her so much.

Hee ... neat thread. My girl (bless her little cotton socks *G*) went out and rented the LotR dvd just because she knew I had had an extremely bad day. And she bought me ice cream.

But the best part was, when I broke down and sobbed (and you have not seen anyone cry at a movie until you've seen me cry at a movie) at the end (I pretty much cry throughout the entire ending of that movie) she only laughed at me a little bit *G* It was very sweet, and I was very appreciative.

My girl does so much for me its hard to mention just one. The one that comes to mind most is that I suffer from seizures and when I feel one coming, no matter what time of day or night, all I have to do is call her and she is right there for me. She has a way of talking to me with a very soothing voice and bringing me "back". Sometimes I don't even recognize that she is who I'm talking to when I begin to have one which is fustrating for both of us and she stays right there with me and takes care of me. She is a very special girl and I love her so much. She has my heart and I pray she will never give it back.

I love you Baby, you [b:3819fe3982] are[/b:3819fe3982] my Girl!!!

My first gf lived in the same college dorm as me, 2 floors above me. When I would take showers, she would sneak into the bathroom, steal my towel off the hook, run down to the dryers in the basement (3-4 floors away), put my towel in on high and then, right before she thought I'd be finishing up in the shower, she'd run back upstairs to sneak the towel back on the hook so that I would have a warm fluffy towel to dry off with. Sometimes she timed it so that she got the towel back on the hook and disappeared so the only way I knew what she had done was when I realized how hot the towel was. Other times she got back just as I was getting out of the shower and she would meet me holding the towel and wrap me up in it. :blush

Another girl had a fail safe method to cheer me up when she knew I was having a bad day at work. We worked in the same firm, but our offices were on opposite ends of the building. As a rule, she was a very modest person who was very concerned about making the right impression with our bosses. Nobody in our office knew about us as a couple and neither of us was out to any of the people in the office.

But if I was having a bad day, she would go to great lengths to cheer me up. My favorite was when she would come to visit me in my office, but stop off in the bathroom on the way over. While in the bathroom, she would take off her bra and write something silly on her boobs. Then she would stand in my office doorway and talk to me about boring work related topics while she unbuttoned her shirt and flashed me with her naked boobie messages. And she would just stand there as long as possible, chatting away about some boring contract blah blah blah with her shirt open so only I could see. And usually she would jiggle. A lot. Perked me right up. Every time. ;)

I don't have any stories to tell about my amazing girl, since, you know, I don't have one. Or an amazing guy. That's okay, though, I'm perfectly happy being single and free right now!

Thanks for all the happy wishes from the both of us. Today we picked colors kind of black tux's with silver vests for the boys in the line and silver or royal blue for the girls in the line. We have 3 boys and 3 girls so its complex. We also did the guest list and manage to disagree on every invitation style. She says I'm spartan, I say she's overly girly. Maybe we'll find something girly and spartan, everyone cross their fingers.

Thanks, Tim!

Taz, congratulations. Your wedding preparations remind me of why I love my wife so much. I hate shopping. Really hate it. Shopping for wedding rings was an adventure that took her all over the city...without my knowledge. One day, she took me to a jewelery store. They had laid out 4 sets of rings, all of which she knew that I would like. I picked one set, and there it was.

The older we get, the better it is. It's great to just curl up together on the coach and read, say. Sometimes we're really in tune. I was cooking supper and all of a sudden I needed an implement out of the drawer. Turning, I asked for "The thingy." Without hesitation, she reached in and pulled out exactly what I was looking for.

Tomorrow I get to take Jen out for a nice meal. It's her birthday, and we're going to her favourite restaurant.

This is related, I promise. I got hit by an SUV Sunday while I was on my bicycle. My surgery happened on Tuesday and was, coincidentally, exactly during the Buffy premiere, otherwise I would have had to see it because it was just starting on the TV screen of my hospital room as they wheeled me out. Small favors? Anyway, I should be walking normally in six months or so.

Anyway, I just got home, and my girl has been
buying me yummy food
skipping class to spend time with me as the hospital
dealing with getting me insurance (we're poor)
dealing with legal issues
checking my e-mail at my request
taking care of important errands that got interrupted, including getting a cat to the vet from a 3000 mile distance,
bringing me love and affection, and is now
waiting on me hand and foot.

My girl is the besest. *love*
