AMAZING!!!!!! The kittens rock! Change happens when we can step away from ourselves, take a good look around, and step it up. It certainly brightens up my day to know that there are people out there who care... THANKS for the sunshine.

yeah, Chris Golden is definitely an honorary Kitten...
As for the $3050.60... wow this is amazing. I was talking to a friend about the kitten board, and he was in awe seeing that a fan board could manage to do stuff like that. And so am i;)

That Chris Golden is the coolest and so are the kitties for raising over $3000.
Just a question about the auction. I don't have any Buffy stuff to auction but I do have autographed Crocodile Hunter (Steve Irwin) stuff and various sporting autographs and was wondering whether these things would be alright to include in the auction?

Hush,

Yes it would. In fact I have almost no Buffy stuff, but a lot of games and computer equipment.

I am going to post something in a bit about the Auction.

The Kitten Charity Auction benefiting the Trevor Project

[/b:7a870923d1]

[img:7a870923d1]http://kittenboard.com/auction.jpg[/img:7a870923d1]

The Kitten Charity Auction is underway!
We plan to begin our auctions on [b:7a870923d1] Wednesday, August 21, 2002[/b:7a870923d1]. That is one week from today. The auction will run ten days till [b:7a870923d1] Sunday, August 31, 2002[/b:7a870923d1].
So use this time to get your items all in order.

Ok. This is going to be an Ebay auction. So you will need an Ebay account.
For item you are selling for the auction we request that you put the Kitten Charity Auction graphic on your page somewhere. If you need help please feel free to ask here or email.

Once you have your page set up email me and we will put links up to your items to make it easier for people to find them. Any items that you are selling that are not for the auction just leave off the graphic.

For payment, you can use whatever works best for you. Given that the Auction is set to end on Aug 31, I would suggest PayPal or money orders so you dont have to wait for checks to clear the bank.

If you dont have an Ebay account, or for some reason you cant set up an auction for yourself (there could be a lot of good reasons) then please contact myself, web.warlock@attbi.com or Rally at rallyv@yahoo.com and we can run it for you. We can discuss in the email about how we can do this.

For the record here is my Ebay about me page, members.ebay.com/aboutme/web.warlock@attbi.com/ and here is Rallys members.ebay.com/aboutme/RallyRams/.

Things to help make your auction experience better.
-        If you can get digital pics or scans of your items. If a picture is worth a 1,000 words, then it is also worth a few extra hits on your auction.
-        Try to accurately describe your items. Give condition, including any shelf wear or odd marks.
-        We are all listing our items on Wednesday. But since the Kitten is global any time is good, but having an auction that ends during Ebays peak hours is best. Often you make your most money in the last minute bids. This is between 4:00pm and 7:00pm PST (-800 GMT).
-        Use Ebays own seller tips. pages.ebay.com/help/sellerguide/index.html and pages.ebay.com/help/sell/index.html
-        If you have a lot of items, consider Mr. Lister, pages.ebay.com/services/buyandsell/mr.html
-        Make sure you place your item in the correct category. listings.ebay.com/aw/listings/list/categories.html

Again lets make this a huge success. The donations have already out paced anything I ever expected! Lets make the auction as equally successful!

If you have ANY questions please ask.

Yes Xita told Amber about it and gave her a couple printed out pages with the details about the drive. I think that was part of what prompted Amber saying that we could take over the world.

I am with you Yellowsub.

The Kittens are the best group of people on the planet.

Currently we are targetting the second week of September as our cut off date. The Trevor Project has a press conference around then and we have been invited. So we want to give out big check to them then!

Just where does one get those really big checks anyway?

Edited to say Autumn i think WW was wondering where he can get a fake prop check..the only thing i could think of was taking a pic of the check and having a poster done or something along those lines..

or you just make up a fake prop check. Which is what they usually do and give them the real money after the flashbulbs stop.

This may not be true anymore, but those "fake checks" aren't really fake. You can write a check on anything, including toilet paper, a rock, or scrap paper, as long as you have the correct ABA coding & format. size doesn't matter.

You can buy checks like that, but either they are not personalized or they are really expensive.

But, there are two ways for us to do this if we really want to do the big check thing...

1. Have someone really good at hand drawing & lettering do it. This is the oldfashioned way & can be really nice.

2. With poster board, sticky spray & a color printer, we can do this. Get the posterboard in the size you want, or get two from the local megamart & tape them together in the back. Then make the different parts of the check with the printer & with the sticky spray, attach them to the poster board. You can wait until the total is known & then add that. If you want you can laminate it or just leave it as is. (a cheap way to laminate is by using clear (but not glossy) contact paper.) You might want to support the back using thin wood boards painted white to match the paper.

That's a suggestion for how to do that. I'd do it, but I'm not in CA & I don't have a color printer.

Actually I was waxing silly.

I was thinking of lugging around a giant check book with checks that big....

Would you need a big ass pen too?

Hey. My wife has decided not to drink coffee anymore so therefore *I* don't drink coffee at home any more....

Some of my friends decided to try this out & wrote a cheque to cash on a white tee-shirt.

The cashier was a bit surprised, & definately reluctant, but they made him check with the manager & they got their 10 cash!

I just want to say that this is such a wonderful idea. I'm a teen and was making many posts at the bronze of the effect that the death of Tara will have on the GLBT youth. Everyone seemed to think that someone who is that unstable shouldn't be watching a show like Buffy and didn't seem to care. I know that there are many teens who come to this site and it's great to see that someone cares. Thank you for trying to make a difference:)

Best Wishes,
Scully

Jeepchick Scully, I think you will find that the kittens are some of the most giving, caring people youd ever want to meet..They can rant with the best of em, get pissed off and angry but that doesnt change their willingness to give back to the community...A stellar group of folks if ever there was one.
:clap :clap :clap

Im waiting to get paid next week so i can do my part to give back..
