I dunno, Em. I think might have to go with Quentin.

Bloody royalists.

Hee. What in the hell is a crisp, anyway? Is it like a cracker?

It's what you philistines stateside call "chips". Although we UK-ers know that chips are greasy and hot and covered with generous helpings of either gravy or curry sauce. ;)

Oh the global community we live in. Seriously. :rolleyes

Bloody hell, Ruth, you forgot the mushy peas. You're going soft, you. Flippin' northerners.

And Julia, if you haven't had Walkers you haven't lived. But please, for the love of Willow and Tara, stay away from the prawn cocktail flavour. [i:a5a5b03724] *shudders*[/i:a5a5b03724]

Ok, not really food related, but today was a really great day.

First off, around 8:45am, it drizzled! Now, you UK kitties may be laughing at me for being grateful for some kind of rain in summer, but I've never been in LA where it rained in summer. (And for those of you on the east coast, the rain didn't make the weather humid at all, so :P )

Ok, and besides that, I tutor in "developmental" (long ago called remedial) math classes in my university. The instructor that I tutored with in the evening was horrible. Picture Ben Stein but much more boring, and less knowledgeable about mathematics. Absolutely had no business teaching. Anyway, I found out today that he's been replaced! And by my favorite teacher! I'm so happy, because now the students actually have a chance of passing, and I have an excellent chance of not falling asleep during the instructor's lecture.

Now if only my headache would go away, today would be a REALLY great day.

I got to say I am bummed about Witchblade, I was just getting into the show. Also my head is gonna explode if I have to listen to anymore of the drivel spewing from earphones at the moment.

Back to your previously scheduled off topicness.

Hmm.. i know what I like to eat :p and besides that I like to eat avocados, navel oranges.. but i shall never eat boiled peanuts :miff ;)
[/quote:a5180181db]

:shock

[b:a5180181db] xita![/b:a5180181db]

You are [i:a5180181db] insane![/i:a5180181db] You know that, right?

Avocados taste like [i:a5180181db] lard[/i:a5180181db] and navel oranges...oh God!...navel oranges are the [b:a5180181db] devil![/b:a5180181db] Those [i:a5180181db] things[/i:a5180181db] they have, like [i:a5180181db] tumors[/i:a5180181db], soooooooo disgusting.

Boiled peanuts, on the other hand, are wonderful. And the ones from the toothless men in overalls by the side of the road really [i:a5180181db] are[/i:a5180181db] the best. There just are no words for how good they are.

You people! :spin

In other news, I am off to see Cyndi Lauper and Cher. Yay!

Hope everyone's having a great Wednesday.

Okay, I gotta go with Xita here. 'Cause here in California, in the land of sunshine, it's all about the guac. Or a salad with sliced avocado and tangerine sections with a nice raspberry vinagrette or poppyseed dressing. :drool

Boiled peanuts? I don't even like them that much dry roasted. Peanut butter, on the other hand, I will eat on pretty much anything. I particularly recommend it on the backs of your significant other's knees.

And screw all you hos, talking about food right before I have to go to the grocery store on my way home from the office. I'm going to buy the whole damn store and it's going to be all your fault.

I'm going with the group that loves the guac... as long as there's any left... [i:be16482557] please[/i:be16482557], did you leave any in the bowl??? & no blue chips, thank you.

Ok, my favourite food is coffee. with creamer. flavored creamer that is sweetened. But after you've had the strongest black Norwegian-American coffee on the face of the earth, you can drink anything. I make the distinction because I've had Norwegian coffee and it is very nice. But the way some of my family has made it, perked on the stove with eggshells in with the coffee grounds & boiled again. It is good, but there are a lot of spoons in the family that only have handles.

Willow & Tara: coffee: yes. tea: prolly the 'special' stuff, smoked. ;)

I don't know if it's already been posted but I just saw Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof on the finale of "American Idol." They looked adorable as usual. There was one part when the ten finalists took to the aisles, and you could see both Aly and Alexis kind of moving to the beat. Aly was clapping her hands and smiling. Just thought I'd let you all know.

I know that this is completely off topic, but if I understand this board fully, this would be the place to rant about it.

I am so giddy right now. I was listening to The Succubus Club and it's listener appreation day. I actually won something!!! A six pack of Buffy magazines. I probably have all of the magazines, but I'm just so excited that they actually picked my name out of a bowl.

HeHe!! sorry, but I had to tell someone because I'm all alone in my house.

As for guacomole, to me, it is deadly, as I am allergic to avocados. So please, please keep the avocados away from me. :D

Booted? I wish. I just got home from work. Taught eight flute lessons today, starting at 9 AM. And I need to clean out my ears after all of that. A little Ella Fitzgerald should do the job.

(pauses to do Halfrek impression)

[b:c1d710d94d] FYI Ruth[/b:c1d710d94d] , i happen to live in an epitome of backwoods-where-in-the-hell places . i put chester on my profile as thats the nearest town to me , as in - i live in a tiny welsh village that is a few miles from anything at all , never mind anywhere people would know......so there! :miff

ahhhhh yes was it 'Garlands' (it burnt down a while ago - [b:c1d710d94d] "don't be gay , be Garlands!"[/b:c1d710d94d]) or Love street , that you went to- ? and if you did go to love street , you may have seen a few 8ft drag queens and me :party dancing to ultra-cheese disco, but i take no responsibility for my actions obviously.................

And I happen to know a lot of small towns in Wales. More than I perhaps should...but blame my parents and lots of summer holidays spent tramping around campsites.

Does anyone really eat mushy peas? Or most of the rest of British cuisine? I mean fish&chips and Cornish pasties are great and I like hot tomatos and mushrooms in the morning, but I thought the whole point of colonizing India was to import some decent food.

I like crisps, but whoever said prawn cocktail was evil is completely right. On the other hand, chips are better left to the Belgians and Netherlanders. They cook them just right and they give you mayo or some interesting sauce instead of scary things like ketchup or gravy.

Okay, darkmagicwillow, I know that everyone else is giggling because you said "pasties," but not me.

I hate mayo. I mean I really, really hate it. Can't touch the stuff. On anything.

Edited to add: I just realized that I put the wrong date on this daily thread. Did anyone notice? I feel like an idiot now. :)

Okay, I could have put this in today's daily thread, but thought this one might be more appropriate.

I am at this moment experiencing for the first time the joy that is fresh Krispy Kream donuts.

I think I'm going to come.

Yes, Krispy Kreme donuts are really, really good. Living in the southeast, I've always had one just down the road from me. It's neat when you take someone to go get some of the donuts, when they've never had them before. :)
