oh come on garfield, you can spank me better than *that*...
i've gotta say, though, even without the last scene i loved this episode. it was really well done and well written. i wasn't expecting it to be this good.
and okay, it must be pointed out: hallie convinced anya that she could drop the "take back the night" vengeance schtick (hee) and grant men's wishes too. and what did xander wish earlier during their fight scene? "i wish things could go back to how they were before" (or something like that). the ball is in anya's court now. she has an opportunity that she can use. whether this will be significant later on remains to be seen.
speaking of anya, she was just great in this ep. every so often, an ep comes along that reminds me how much i love her, and this was one of them. she has great comic delivery, including my personal favorite "why don't you just go and love men!" but my god...what did they do to her hair??
and as always, i'm in awe of aly's subtle, quirky delivery of certain lines, such as "well i suppose it would be natural for him to like...girls...why are we talking about this again?" for some reason, that really cracked me up.
i also really liked the buffy/dawn interaction tonight. after all the whining and ignoring and fighting and temper tantrums, they're finally enjoying each other's company and having fun. and dawn is acting semi-mature for once in her life! she handled finding out about buffy and spike far more maturely than xander did (not that i'm shocked about that or anything).
what i *was* shocked about, though, was anya and spike. woah! have these two even said three words to each other prior to this? their talk in the magic box prior to their, um, "extracurricular activity" was probably their longest interaction to date. and yet, it was very believable - the two of them *have* been around longer than any of the other scoobies, and they made some valid points in their drunkenness. which were totally invalidated by their subsequent actions, but hey, let's not go there...
and of course, the last scene. you know, when i first read the transcript for this scene in the spoilers, i was thinking "i wonder how tara comes to be in the summers' house? maybe some big event happens where she ends up there." but no, as i was discussing with michele ("rocketdyke") afterwards, it was a booty call, pure and simple. go tara!
and hello, that black leather jacket? oh yum.
okay, enough babbling from me...i'm sure i'll be back with plenty more thoughts later.
but kitties...they're back!
