MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!It actually is Christmas morning here in LA now, by a few minutes. I just got back from my singing double-header, which went off without a hitch. That's a Christmas present all by itself, but earlier in the day I got a much bigger and much more unexpected one.
Someone wants to publish one of my books!!!!!I went down to get my mail right before I had to change into my tux and head off to the first of my singing gigs, and there it was - a letter from Royal Fireworks Publishing Co., of Unionville NY:

Dear Mr. Black,
Enclosed is a contract for the publication of your book. If the contract is agreeable to you, please sign both copies and return one to me.

From there my vision kind of blurred for a bit, and I kept looking to see if it said "April Fool!" anywhere (or if Joss Whedon's name was on it, which would have been pretty much the same thing

). No such enthusiasm-deflating message was to be seen. I still have to go over the contract in the morning, but I'm feeling very hopeful.
Oh, in case anyone is keeping track, the book I sent them was
Hoosier Girl - my second book, a children's historical novel set in 1918 Baltimore.
Okay, I'm really really sleepy and wondering if I'm making any sense, so I'll turn in now and see you all in the morning.
Merry Christmas Everybody!
