It's The Gods Must Be With Me Tuesday MKF 9/03

Postby Urn of Osiris » Mon Sep 02, 2002 4:18 am

Today I am celebrating the invention of the DVD burner.

Last night just before checking my e-mail I did a full system backup. Which I haven't done in months. Hmmm My very bad.

I woke up this morning to find many holes in my desktop system. :(

I haven't determined the source. My guess is VIRUS. Norton fails again. Anyway I sigh in relief as all W/T mpgs are safely stored on disk as well as my fan fic WIP.

Praise be the inventor of the DVD Burner. For I celebrate you and all of your obsessive technogeekyness

So any of you breathing a sigh of relief on this fine LOVELY day.

I think that's the question of the day :)

Also remember, if there isn't a question, you can make one up and also you can talk about anything as this is the daily thread. It is nice to have a topic, but you don't have to stick to it either.

Kids come back tomorrow. So I guess I am having a sigh but not of relief.. of regret of not having done enough during the summer, like write that fic I was supposed to. New batch of kids this year.. grr.. ok, it should be good, little first graders on their first day of school.

I think lcmSilek is number 2000... at least according to the thing that says 'newest member' on the bottom. Anybody know if that thing is accurate? Oh well. Can I wave to that person from here? There's no wave emoticon. *pout* Oh well. Welcome to the board, lcmSilek , if you happen to see this, and Happy Tuesday Kittens. Ooh! It's back to school for me, too.

A most fortuitous backup [b:01b60e3b66]Urn of Osiris[/b:01b60e3b66] Thank you, you've just given me the prompting I need to backup my 4 computers (2 in work, home p.c. and laptop). Its one of those things that I always intend to do regularly, but usually only do it when I hear someone else's computer has died!

I just got back home from Croatia this night, so my sigh of relief would be, that even if it's kinda cold here, at least it's not raining.

[img:6910f85a6a]http://www.mansun-nl.com/smilies/wavey.gif[/img:6910f85a6a] to IcmSilek and anyone else, it's good to be back to the board :)

Well today is a big day for me. Kinda. So I think I may just need a brain. ;) Got things to do you know.

Anyhoo, it's sunny here and peaceful and England truly is a green and pleasant land on days like today.

My dad got a new car at the weekend. It's a 1963 Rover 95 and it's just [b:ca2f218d3c] so[/b:ca2f218d3c] excellent. I mean, I'm not a car enthusiast or anything like that, but this car is amazing. It's perfect. Makes me want to dress up in tweed and go for a "jolly" ride around the country.

But I'm not allowed to drive it... :lol

Oh yes. DVD Players/Recorders.

I got a bunch of credit burning a hole in my pocket at the local Gateway store. May just have to pop in and get me one of these!

Either that or a base line computer with a DVD so I can be on the board when my son wants to play his toddler games! ;)

Actually I am very impressed with his ability to use the mouse and to figure out what to click on, even if he can't read yet.

I can tell you as an educator and a parent that he is learning some very good skills now, not to mention improving his hand-eye cooridnation and even his reasoning (cause and effect) skills.

Plus he can type in his own name (he is only 2 years and 9 months old) and he can recognize some words on the screen.

I am the very proud father here.

Have a great day kitties!

Hi Kittens!

Just wanted to share something so cool that happened yesterday. I rescued a butterfly. There's a dress shop kitty-corner to my apartment and as I was going by I saw this butterfly in the window trying to fly through the glass (and failing, of course). I stepped inside, managed to get the poor creature to land on my palm, then carried it outdoors.

Made me feel good.

Ah happy Tuesday Kittens, I love the invention of the CD burner although I normally just use mine to burn MP3's to listen to in the car. Gotta love that whole filesharing thing on the internet as well :grin

It's cooler today so far thank goodness and I still have 3 weeks of my summer holiday left to enjoy :) Today however I shall be lazy and only go out later in the day to visit the horse. Until then I am reading and maybe even writing fanfic...unless I can find a football game to watch on TV.

Yay for rescuing butterflies, zahir!!

Today is a nice relaxing tuesday, as most of my days have been recently since i can't seem to find myself any sort of part time job (though i do have a babysitting job tonight) and my classes don't start for another two whole weeks!

Oh! My cousin had a baby back in April (coincidentally the day after my birthday) and they gave the baby the same name as me (Lauren) and recently asked me to be the Godmother!! I feel all honored and happy and excited especially when I think about how much I love and appreciate my Godmother. I just hope I can be a good one :)

<Brak voice> Happy Tuesday, everybuddy! </Brak voice>

CD burners are a lifesaver. I've got over 40 episodes of Buffy & Angel burned to disk, and yet my hard drive is still full. It's cause I take so long to burn each one; I have to make little menus for them and everything. Damn my perfectionist tendencies.

Anyway, just wanted to say that the gods are definitely with me today because I [i:62d39bd2f7] finally[/i:62d39bd2f7] finished my new video (yay!), which means I am now free to concentrate on the 15 billion other things I have to do, all of which are majorly important and must therefore be ignored in favor of frivolous activites like vidding. Did I mention I'm not very disciplined? :lol

I'm considering going over to my parents' house tonight and watching the Gay Weddings show on Bravo, just to see what they say. It should be, umm, fun.

Holy cow, I'm rambly today. Must be the caffeine.

[i:62d39bd2f7] ETA[/i:62d39bd2f7] Congratulations on your new Godmother status, La! BTW, I've always loved the name Lauren. It's so pretty and elegant.

Congratulations, [b:c43ffce9e4] La[/b:c43ffce9e4]! I'll say this about being a godmother - I hope you make a better one than me.

My brother has four kids, my sister five. Now, this [b:c43ffce9e4] really[/b:c43ffce9e4] is terrible but I'll be buggered if I can remember which ones I'm godmother to.

I had nephews and neices young, okay? I'm not really that bad an aunt, honest.

I mean, really it just shows I treat them all equally...doesn't it?

[i:c43ffce9e4] *hangs head in shame*[/i:c43ffce9e4]

Leaving now.

Happy tuesday everyone!.

This is my last day of freedom before I have to return to <insert name of evil educational building/establishment here> tomorrow.

I'm trying to enjoy the day. So it's back to my three year old ways of jumping on beds and turning my music up all day. And jumping around like and idiot.

It should be fun

[i:8ce1b75a8f] Edited to add...[/i:8ce1b75a8f]
Urn of Osiris - What is that a picture of in your info? I'm guessing that it's Amber, but I have no clue

Yes, fun ol' short-woork-week-Tuesday-so-it-feels-like-Monday.

Interestingly enough, I was pricing DVD burners earlier today. Not under $500 CDN yet, but a CD burner/DVD player is under $200 - definitely something to shoot for.

Well, happy Tuesday, all 2000+ kitties!

Yello sub - It is amber at TT Con this past July. She was explaining how they taped her to a board to film the floating scene in OMWF. I just thought it was hysterical the way she explained it.

She was just so adorable.

Good afternoon! :grin

I just got the latest test results for my cat Eugenie. It seems a week's worth of home treatment brought her kidney enzyme values down to a little bit lower than they were when I took her home from the animal hospital. They're still way too high, and this news doesn't change what the eventual outcome will be, but for the moment it looks like Eugenie will be hanging around a while longer. :)

And Urn, that pic of Amber is pretty freakin' hysterical. :lol

Have a great day, everybody! :bounce

Thats good news Bob. Please send some of Eugenie's good vet report to Nuisance. I have to take her in to work on my day off tomorrow morning because she isn't doing too well today. So its more blood work and IV fluids for her. Normally, she'd be lying next to me but she's been hiding since I got home from work. She wouldn't even let me give her the meds tonight. I don't think she's going to be around much longer. So we'll see what tomorrow brings before I make any decisions. :pray

Love to All,

Poor sad sick kitties. I just adopted a year-old kitty from the animal rescue league. She's being spayed (poor thing) so I won't get to bring her home for a couple of days still, but right now I'm trying to think up names for her. So far my list includes: Graham Cracker (her coloring sort of reminded me of a graham cracker or ...), Gingham, Kimchi, Min-ji (another Korean name) .... The name the shelter gave her was Selena, but that isn't the right name for her *shakes head* nope nope nope. I think I'm leaning toward either Gingham or Kimchi.

Best wishes to the sick kitties (and hugs to their owners!)

Oh, I'm really really psyched to be a godmother. I'm going to try real hard to be a good one :) I already have asked my best friend who works for the author of the Very Hungry Caterpiller (which I can't spell), Eric Carle, if he'd get a copy of that book autographed for her. And I'm needlepointing a Christmas ornament for her too!

Bob, yeah for you and Eugenie. :) Yeah! And Friskylez, M-E-O-W! :wink

I have a happy kitty story too. Tonight, Joann called me down to the backyard frantically. She said that one of our outdoor kittens is hurt and screaming in the yard. I went to look and the baby had her head stuck in our fence :shock I got my gloves, went to the other side and faced her frantic, spitting, hissing Mama :paranoid The kitten was wriggling around and getting nowhere. I said a quick :pray I thought about cutting the fence, but then divine inspiration hit me. I talked calmly to both of them, and poked the kitten's ear in a bit and she got free! Thank God because the mother cat attacked me :eek and Kpmuse ran faster than she ever has in her life!
What a cute baby! I am so happy for this kitty! :grin I saw her later eating and she seems OK!

Peace and love Kittens!
