Personally I think Willow's style was worse than Tara's but they were both pretty bad. Oh well we still love them bad wardrobe and all! Here's the link:

I think the point was (1) to put Tara into earth-toned clothing representing her "pagan" upbringing, and (2) put her into clothes that she could use to sort of hide herself in, since she was so painfully shy.

I remember reading about this on a Buffy forum I'm a part of. I still don't agree with it. I personally thought the way she dressed was simple in a down-to-earth way.

I think it's also fair to assume she didn't have much money for clothes and got some second-hand/made her own (not that that inherently means 'bad', just that it's more representative of her eclectic style)
