Amber at British Convention & European Tour

Ive just read this at another board, so im sorry if im repeating something that alreadys up but according to that board Amber Benson has been added to the line up for the DB convention in Brighton, now living in Newcastle i couldnt get there but if any British kittens could go and get reports id be forever grateful!

Willow Rocks: Yes, Amber has apparently agreed to attend this convention in Brighton in August 2003 but it still has to be officially announced which is why her name has not yet been added to the Jealous Events site. It should be updated in the next few days though.



I live in London so I will try to attend this event, although I've heard that it's very expensive.

I've never been to any conventions before but I'm thinking about getting tickets for this, just wanted to ask anyone if they know if all the tickets include the autograph and photo sessions or do you have to pay extra or get the more expensive tickets for this?

Hmmm...it does look a bit expensive. I'd obviously feel happier to pay that amount (plus some for charity) if it was an Amber/Chris/GoA/Chance/Albert Hall type thing...hell I'd even help make the sandwiches and stuff !!!!...but Brighton is so near and I'll probably make a long weekend of it....I couldn't not go. The karaoke/fun casino/disco things do sound a wee bit ominous....but Brighton has alternatives!!!!!

Amber's name is all over the site now but be advised you cannot buy tickets for her photo/autograph session until the day you are there (or anyone elses for that matter - ie get in line for that and then for the picture itself.) Also the seating is first come first seated within the section you buy for - which is good for late purchasers but could leave you with a poor seat unless you pay a premium.



As I am going to MR I will not bother with this and, even compared to flying the Atlantic and blowing 2 years holiday budget, (with lots of extras at the event, tourism in NY and getting to see my friends ) this seems expensive for what it is offering. To get more than one or two minutes in Amber's presence you need to pay another £150 so you and 50 other people can be up in a rooftop garden for 45 minutes which she would be at (Friday only available.)



Meeting Amber is a great thing and opportunites in Britain are limited of course but... Personally I would wait for a GoA/Chance related event. There were rumours of the film festival and GoA is getting picked up in at least novella form with possibly more to come so this is possible if not likely. I don't begrudge Amber, David or the organisers any money they can make from people happy to pay but just think what you are getting for the price at this event. The premium you are paying is freally due to DB's presence and NB's. Not much else as far as I can see for only a day event - apart from meeting Amber which is worth practically anything I guess. Every kitten should do it once. I guess I am just saying weigh it up carefully rather than leaping in. Look at the whole package of what is included and what is not. Also bear in mind the travel arrangements and where you will stay that night. If you are from up north this is a good five or more hours by train.



The weather should be good though in the week after the bank holiday - rooftop receptions in the rain wouldn't be fun Have a good time if you choose to go!

Well I have booked up! Seeing as Amber has said she won't be doing too many more, and I haven't seen her before, I think its worth it. Besides, as a XENA veteran, I'm used to being ripped off!!

Well I see from the convention web site, ANY sort of digital camera is banned! 35mm only...interesting. I guess because digitals can take movie clips too!



I know my camera and zoom lens is an essential!



I guess money is the other essential!!

Avern1: I don't know yet if I will be attending this convention, it depends on my finances etc. I'm sure several other UK Kittens are going though.

I'm going! The Brighton center is just up the road from me so it's an oppotunity not to be missed. It IS so expensive though, I never realised before how much these things cost. I'm thinking of paying a little extra for an autograph session if I can get(ofcourse with Amber) but I'd have to be feeling brave on the day lol.
