Questions for anyone:

What was scheduled for today at SDCC? I know there was no Amber scheduled, but what about Joss? (yucky thought) Were there any plans for another visit to the 'con, or another kitten meeting?

There's also the possibility that their computer stuff was stolen. **shudder** But as long as they are ok.. has anyone heard anything?? even an "we are ok" from any of the group?

Well, I did check the Dark Horse page and they had this to say about today (Sunday):
Quote:
We'll have a Buffy signing the next day with a bunch of the talent from the book, including the cover artists, the writers, and Cliff Richards, making his first ever San Diego appearance.
So I wonder if it was possible Amber was going to be at their booth today.

Thanks to everyone who has shared a report about their time at the convention, and thanks also to Dri and Deb for the amazing pics of Amber (she always looks so beautiful)! I too am greatly anticipating reports from Xita, Rally, and the other kitties, but I bet they are having a great time. I am just so jealous of all the lucky kitties who got a chance to meet Amber as well as seeing other kittens, but at least with the reports I can live vicariously through them :) .

It's kinda late over here (1.45 am), and i just can't decide wether i should go to bed and check the board tomorrow morning, or stick around hoping we'll get some other reports pretty soon.

I just can't wait to see more amber pics :grin

i made it home, barely. I am exhausted, I think I walked the streets of downtown San Diego and went around it 5 times. My feet hurt, I have blisters, I am like running on 8 hours of sleep for 3 days. THere are 100s of bail bond places in downtown San Diego, we were keeping track. Last night we went back to Dick's Last resort we met lots of new people and had a ball. Big report later!

Yeah Amber was there Friday but it was impromptu who knew. It's my quick report before I go and get some pictures up.

We didn't go to the talk, but we heard he said nothing of interest to us kittens. Vague crap.

After Amber we went to line up for Joss. I wasn't really sure if I wanted to but in the end I decided I wanted to tell him how we felt. He got his shirt, and I told him what I needed to say. It felt really good. I swear I'll give you a detailed report a bit later.

Well, Joss had no problem standing there and listening to it when we were lavishing him with praise and thanks, so I don't think he should be surprised how we all feel..In a way, he should feel flattered that fans have come to love a character that he wrote and created and feel so passionate about her..But of course, I give Amber the most credit for that.. I hope that if he learns anything, it's that you can't jerk your fans around with lies and deception and then just think they going to sit quietly and take it..He has no one to blame but himself..We NEVER asked him to lie to us ......

Read an interesting quote from director in the paper today..Don't remember who, but what he said was that chemistry is not something that you can create between characters, it's either there, or it isn't

Heh, glad to see you're back unscathed, xita. Hope it was a nice little vacation for you, cause I know you've just been working way too hard lately. Glad you got to tell Joss what you needed to say. Hee, really, writing that just now brought the biggest grin to my face. Hee. Yay!

I, too await the numerous stories y'all must have racked up. This should be fun.

Thanks to everyone else for the recounts and pics. Sigh. Amber's wonderful. What a sweetie.

Re: San Diego Comic Con

Postby xita » Sun Aug 04, 2002 11:10 pm

Ok, the full report.

We got in line for Amber at around 2. We met up with some nice amberholics/kittens. We had to wait to get tickets but it's cool, we were talking to people in line. I saw Iamyouknowyours and her glorious t-shirt, jdcioffi, lovepuddle, stella, and kay, and storm, and other lurkers that I met. We got our tickets and then stood in line to wait :)

We were like 10th or so. Amber was a bit late, but she waved when she saw me in line, she asked how I was and she made a motion as if to show she was tired. So anyway it was our turn. Rally gave Amber the t-shirt and Amber laughed and hugged us and we had her pose. Then I talked to her about a couple of things then I told her about the trevor project and gave her some info on it. We got another hug :) And she said "I have the best fans, you guys are the best. You are all so smart and talented. If we all put our heads together we could take over the world."

It was great seeing Amber again especially lovepuddle's anticipation and reaction :p

Rally had tried going to the Joss Q&A but it was late in starting and she didn't get much. So we decided to go line up for Joss. The line was short I assume because people were upstairs at the Q&A. I prepared my statement in my head, I was very nervous and angry and I didn't want to forget. People were actually nice about the shirts, a few whispers here and there but mostly people found it amusing. As we got close i was stanign right in front of him. And I was staring at him and he made sick, I was really angry for a bit, but I knew I was going to get emotional up there. And there was a big dramatic pause as we were next, someone showed for Joss to see some huge comic prints and there was some official signing with this other guy. Then it was finally out turn. Rally gave him the shirt and had the mic going, she'll be by later with sound, so what I am telling you is from my memory, she has what I actually said.

She gave him the shirt, and he gasped, and said "oh that's brutal," whatever, before he got going too much on self pity I decided to say my peace.

So, I introduced myself and who we were. I told him we didn't think he was a homophobe or that he did anything out of hate. He sighed, and said thank god, again before he could continue, I told him but.. and I got emotional, I felt on the verge of tears, this means so much to me and to get it out was very important. I told him how devastating it all was for our community. I told him he took a fragile community that has never had faith in media and he made us trust him. He encouraged our trust and then betrayed us horribly. And he could never get that trust back, that I wanted him to know the damage he'd caused. I also told him about the letters I got from young people who would be in the hospital without our support and I wanted him to know that. The entire time he looked at me and said nothing but nod and ok. He knew better than to try to challenge me I think. I would not have taken well to that. I then had him sign the advocate article and he looked at it then flipped to the cover. He hadn't read it. I told him he could keep it, but he was like, no i can get my own. Then that was it. I felt great relief to just say that to him, I didn't have a question for him, I just wanted him to know how serious it was. That was pretty much the end of the day for the con, then we partied all night long with the kitties/amberholics and had much fun.

oh, at the signing Amber mentioned she was having dinner with Joss, that would have been last night

Ok first. Love xita. Thank you so much. You speak for all of us and I can never say thank you enough for doing that.

And second:
Quote:
Rally gave Amber the t-shirt and Amber laughed and hugged us and we had her pose.
So, let me get this straight (as hard as that is for me) Amber thought the shirt was funny and liked it? Just like most of us here? She did not find it offensive? hmm. Who knew?
