"After all, Jared, straight Tara would be a totally different person; you might not even like her."

But as for the actual subject of the *thread*, yeah, I see the similarities.

I just came home from Brooklyn and found the reading/book signing to be quite enjoyable. Amber has a wicked sense of humor and pretty much giggles at the drop of a dime. She took pictures with everyone that asked & seemed to remember a lot of fans from previous meetings. I can't wait to read the book.

kajun - Yeah, people are certainly hyped about this book, so I really can't wait to read it. I got a copy for my gf & my best friend, I suppose as consolation prizes ... they couldn't come with me. I thinking I should probably start on the website & watch the animated series before I start the book.

amber 4 prez - The guy in the front was a little insane. My friend & I were wondering how long in advance he must have gotten there for the signing.

I was so freaked that I was actually meeting Amber, as it was my first time, that I think I may have a slightly rudely ignored Christopher Golden a bit. Certainly not intentional, but it took a lot of willpower just to control half the shit that was running through my mind & behave myself in an acceptable fashion. Now I'm just have to shoot off the rest of that roll of film, so I can get my pictures developed.

yeah that guy was....strange...

Other than that...I think it was GREAT signing!!! To see the two of them interact....it was just...very interesting and hilarious :) Chris is a really nice guy...and boy, some great sense of humor!!!! I did love the story about some woman (I think it was a woman) coming up to Amber and saying that she looked familiar and then asking her if they shagged :rofl :rofl :rofl... Hehe Chris said that Amber wrote all the dirty parts and that it wasn't easy in the beginning (I think I've got it correct, feel free to correct me)

I have some pics...I'm not sure where to post them, so I'm going to post them in pics thread.... :)

All in all I think everybody who was there had great time.Personally,I couldn't stop laughting!!!!!!

P.S oh...I forgot ....someone asked them about future plans for Ghosts (like movie and othe things I couldn't really hear)....and they said that Anjelina Jolie should play Queen Bodecia...being naked and all (shoot me I don't remember the exact words!!! but the main idea) :lol :lol

YMKA: Thanks for the report of good times and pictures! :D You could include the link for them in this thread too. Oh.. Anjeline Jolie would make a fantastic Bodecia! A GOA movie would be so awesome…

amber 4 prez: Sounds like you had a great time too! Awesome. Hope you enjoy the first novel! :bounce

The Pineapple Head: You could go ahead and start with the book, actually. If you haven't seen or read any of the previous stories you won't be struck with confusion by anything happening in ACCURSED. Think of the novel as a gigantic chocolate chip cookie and the other stories are yummy morsels of extra choco goodness. (no, I’m not drunk or high right now, haha) Nice consolation prizes, btw!

As for your first meeting with Amber.. YAH! And I'm sure you were fine.. The nerves and excitement are totally understandable when meeting someone as talented and adorable as Amber! :heart Besides, it would be pretty boring if everyone she met was a totally zombie with no passion. I doubt Chris minded his writing partner shining in the spotlight -- he is probably thrilled to see all the attention and praise generated for her (and her writing). No worries and please post those pictures when you get them developed!

I was lucky enough to meet Amber on Friday. She has to be one of the nicest and funniest people I have ever met.

All I can say is now I know, the reason I was put on this earth was to meet Amber Benson and now that I have, I can die happy. She was just an amazing person.

I'm glad that everyone who went on Friday had a great time and I can't wait to see some of those pictures.

I was up in Boston this weekend visting my best friend & another friend of mine was telling me that Amber & Chris came into a local store (Pandemonium Books and Games) & signed all the stores stock copies of Accursed, completely out of the blue. Apparently they hung out there for about 2 hours & chatted with my friend and a few other customers. He got infinately more quality time, seeing as how he said there were only 4 of them in the store, including the guy that worked there. I thought that was pretty awesome.

Kajun - Well I feel I might have scored some points with them, considering I gave them the stash of Halloween candy I had in my messenger bag. Amber mentioned she was hungry, so I did my best to oblige, without running to the cafe upstairs & looking like a stalker.

I managed to get to the Boston & Framingham signings -- very awesome times! :)

p i c t u r e s

a few random tidbits I remember...

- When the question of what they've both been working on was asked, Chris took it upon himself to promote Amber -- he was like, "Amber is -terrible- at promoting herself.. " then Amber proceeded to pull her sweater over her head and hide her face as Chris boasted about all Amber's projects.

- there was a question involving horror movies, and Chris mentioned "The Fog" (and how beyond bad it was)...and somewhere further on in the response he mentioned Maggie Grace, and Amber said something to the extent of, "Oh, I helped her get an abortion once!...er.." -- it was hilarious! (If anyone didn't see it, Maggie Grace played "Rene" in the Cold Case episode that Amber was in.

- Amber mentioned she was much with the jet lag

- the current hair color she's sporting was "something they did to me in Romania"

enjoy the pics!

I like the way the billboard has Amber as top billing, when Chris Golden is the bigger name in the lit. field... just shows he's a big guy who wants to support her endeavours. [ok alphabetically she's ahead, but.....]

Rezeaka: Really nice pics.. Thanks so much for sharing them!! How are your ribs feeling? Just thought they might be a little sore from all the giggling and such. :D

Re: Does Tamara bear any resemblance to the lovely Amber Ben

Postby AmbersSecretAdmirer » Thu Nov 17, 2005 7:52 am

I think that it is fairly obvious that Cosgrove Hall used Amber as a model for Tamara, even if it was only subconsciously.

If they ever do a live action version, either a movie or TV series, for GoA then I think Amber has to be given first refusal for the role.

As for theories regarding Tamara and Willow and Tara, I offer this humble one: Perhaps Tamara is nothing more than Amber saying: If I ahd been writing Tara then I would ahve made her a bit more like this, character wise, and still be with Willow!"
Tara & Willow Together Forever!! Blessed Be Eternally!!

Might not be - on the official GoA website http://www.ghostsofalbion.net/who/interview.html

Why the name Albion for England? The family name Swift? The character names Tamara etc?
Amber: Chris has a friend named Tamara Swift, and we ended up borrowing her name in sort of an homage. All the other characters were given names based upon our own personal whims at the time we were coming up with the first outline for LEGACY.

yikes- i didn't mean that Tara was straight! where did that assumption come from? Of course I prefer Tara gay. I just meant that the names were similar and therefore remind us of W/T. sorry for the confusion.

I totally agree with you Katie, cept I wish she'd come and do signings in the U.K. England to be precise, I mean that is where GOA kinda started.

hey... i went to the shockline website tonight and i found two new GoA titles: GoA: Astray and GoA: Initiation... the first has already been released, and the latter, you can pre-order already... both books are signed by amber and chris as well (well limited copies at least)... i don't know if you already know about this but here is what i got:

Subterranean Press wrote:Astray
By Amber Benson and Christopher Golden

Limited: (sold out)
Lettered: $150

"There are things in this world that do not belong here -- evil things.
Supernatural creatures that are neither myth nor
legend. They are, in fact, quite real."
-- Tamara Swift, 1838

In 1838, siblings William and Tamara Swift inherited a terrible legacy from their grandfather, becoming Protectors of Albion, the magical defenders of the soul of England...
In 2003, the BBC's Cult website debuted "Legacy," an animated serial drama by actress/writer/director Amber Benson -- best known for her role as Tara on Buffy the Vampire Slayer -- and novelist Christopher Golden -- author of Strangewood, Of Saints and Shadows and The Boys Are Back in Town. For seven weeks the first Ghosts of Albion story unfolded, and the serial averaged more than 100,000 hits per week and won a special commendation at the 2003 Prix Europa...
In 2005, Del Rey will publish the first ever Ghosts of Albion novel by Benson and Golden...
But you don't have to wait that long...
Tamara and William Swift have been called away from London to the village of Blackbriar, where a group of young, unmarried girls have given birth only to have their infants stolen, and terrible creatures left in their place...

Ghosts of Albion: Astray is a lengthy novella originally serialized online but now published in book form for the first time, fashioned to reflect the publishing styles of the era by designer/illustrator Jose R. Nieto...

Ghosts of Albion: Astray.

A dark fantasy by Amber Benson and Christopher Golden

Limited: Deluxe hardcover edition signed by Amber Benson and Christopher Golden: $40
Lettered: 52 signed traycased copies with additional artwork: $150

Subterranean Press wrote:Ghosts of Albion -- Initiation
By Amber Benson and Christopher Golden
(preorder -- not yet published)

Illustrated by Tom Canty

Limited: $40
Lettered: $150

In October, 2005, Del Rey will publish the first full length Ghosts of Albion novel, Accursed. Subterranean Press recently published the novella Astray, which was the second Ghosts of Albion adventure.
Now, in this exclusive book, you can get the rest of William and Tamara Swift's early adventures in one place. For the first time ever, Initiation will collect the full scripts for the two hour-long BBC animated adventures of Ghosts of Albion. The first, Legacy, introduces Tamara and William to magic for the first time, as the previous Protector of Albion, their grandfather, meets a horrible fate and they are forced to combat his greatest enemy. In the second, Embers, (the third GoA adventure, after Astray), a terrible mystery involving William's lady love and the walking dead sends them around the world on a harrowing quest. Embers also features pages of material that were cut for length from the final animation, seen here for the first time.
As an added bonus, Initiation also features the short story "Illusions," which reveals a pivotal moment in the friendship of the vampire, Nigel Townsend, and previous Protector, Ludlow Swift, in his days as a young stage magician.
Ghosts of Albion was created and written by actress/writer/director Amber Benson -- best known for her role as Tara on Buffy the Vampire Slayer -- and novelist Christopher Golden -- author of Wildwood Road, Of Saints and Shadows and The Boys Are Back in Town.
See how it all began...

Ghosts of Albion -- Initiation will be available only from Subterranean Press in two unique editions:

Limited: 1000 signed numbered hardcovers
Lettered: 52 signed leatherbound copies, housed in a handcrafted traycase

visit the website at: http://www.subterraneanpress.com/

if you wanna have a signed copy, i suggest you order now before it's sold out.

Looks like Amber and Chris are doing an on line chat this Friday Feb 24th

http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/SaveAn ... essage/397

We're very pleased to announce that Amber Benson and Christopher
Golden are tentatively scheduled to appear on SaveAngel.org for a live
Q & A regarding their new book Ghosts of Albion: Accursed on Friday
February 24th at 7:00 PM Eastern North American Time.

For some background on the Ghosts of Albion story visit:

http://www.ghostsofalbion.net/

Check your local bookstores and Amazon.com to puchase the book.

The authors, of course, are no strangers to Whedon fans. Amber Benson
is best known for her portrayal of Tara on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The Bram Stoker Award-winning Christopher Golden has authored and
co-authored many books set in the Buffyverse. Click here to view a
list of these compiled by Kate:

http://www.saveangel.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=1848

Visit Christopher's website at: http://www.christophergolden.com/

DUE TO THE UNPREDICTABLE NATURE OF SCHEDULING IN THE ENTERTAINMENT
INDUSTRY, THE Q & A IS TENTATIVE RIGHT UP UNTIL FEBRUARY 24TH. THERE
WILL ALSO BE SPOILERS DISCUSSED.

So don't delay and get your copy. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.

Don't forget to register for the chatroom. Visit
http://www.saveangel.org/chat/

- - --

As previously announced, we are very pleased and excited that Amber
Benson and Christopher Golden are tentatively scheduled to join us for
a live Q & A session on Friday 2/24 at 7:00 PM EST/6:00 PM CST/4:00 PM PST in North America. For those members in the U.K., the chat will
start at 12:00 AM on Saturday. In Australia, the session will begin on
Saturday morning. For example, in Sydney, the start time will be 9:00 AM.

Due to there being two guests, the format of this session will differ
from that of our last chat in September. Our guests and the two
moderators will be the only people in the chatroom with the ability to
post. We think this is the best way to make the session less confusing
for our guests and members.

Please submit a question that you would like to ask either Chris or
Amber (or both simultaneously) in this thread:
