I wonder if Amber was able to relate her interactions with alot of fans, especially at Toronto Trek, who were devastated with the season finale, to Joss over dinner Saturday night? I would have loved to have beeen a fly on the wall at that dinner...

Ok, this will be a short one and doesn't really have anything but my ramblings about the convention, and some of the non Kitten stuffage I did.



Even though I was up until 3:30 AM, I was out of bed and in the shower by 8:30. Fiddled around the room cleaning up the bottles and ash trays from the zombie porn fest. Drank a pot of coffee and headed downstairs about 10. I was staying at the Embassy Suites and they had a great complimentary breakfast laid out, so I grabbed a quick bite and headed out to the convention.



Got there about 10:15 and of course headed straight to the Inkworks booth. They now had the sign up saying that Amber tickets would be handed out at 3 PM. Xita said don't bother calling before noon so I was on my own. No biggie plenty of things I wanted to do. Stopped by Dark Horse to make sure that the Joss signing was still a go, then headed over to the Viz Communications booth to say hello to some friends.



Found my friend Toshi, he had been in Tiajuna all night and was hung over and running late for a panel he was on at 10:30. I parted with him at the meeting room and went back to the exhibit hall to spend some money. I needed to pick up a box of the new Buffy Evolution Card Set, which is just gorgeous. I shopped around and found a box for a great price. Also picked up a box of Season 4 cards and binders for both sets. Wandered around, looking at all the cool stuff. Pricing out some items and just hanging out.



About 11:30 I decided to go sit out by the water and open up some card packs. Hadn't been sitting from more than 10 minutes, when my friend Toshi called to see if I wanted to go to lunch. So I headed back down to the Viz booth and met up with him.



He had to be back to work the booth by 1 PM, so we headed downtown for lunch. He was too hung over to handle going to Dick's. Yes he is a big fan of Dick's as well. In fact he first introduced me to the joint about 8 years ago, when I was working the Viz booth at SDCC. Back when Viz was a little hole in the wall and didn't have too many real employees.



So we hit the Baja Grill instead, about 2 blocks before Dicks. We settled in for a couple Corona's and a lovely Baja Bucket of grilled shrimp, mini lobster tail, chicken and steak. Excellent. I hadn't spoken with Toshi for about 9 months and was telling him about what I had one on Friday at the con. Toshi mentioned that he and his girlfriend had just recently gotten into Buffy. So I started blabbing about the board and the Joss and Amber and et all. Went on about Tara getting killed and then Tosh tells me he has only gotten to just after Joyces death in season 5. Ooops. He knew in general that folks were disappointed / upset about Season 6, but didn't have many of the details. See some people can remain spoiler free.



After lunch I dropped Toshi off at his booth and headed back to my hotel to drop off my purchases and pick up the shirts and such for the Amber and Joss signings. About half way back to the hotel, Xita checked in and we were set to hook up at the Inkworks booth by about 2 PM in anticipation of standing in line for tickets to see Amber.



Back to the hotel room, get my comics and goodies, tshirts and back to the con.

I got to the Inkworks booth right around 2 PM, called Xita and met up with her and Storm a few minutes later. We were kinda of just hanging around, a lot of us, in anticipation of the line forming. The Inkworks folks wanted the signing that was currently going on to clear up a bit before we lined up. Eventually a crude line began to form, Xita and I were about to go to the end when LovePuddle grabbed Xita and bingo, we are in line. So at that point I met Melonie along with Stella, we had exchanged some emails before the convention, but she left my cell number in her hotel room. Luckily she had spotted Xita earlier and had already made a connection. As we stood around in line, Kay spotted me. Another Kitten who I had exchanged emails with and I dragged her into our increasing pile of people.



So we hung out, chatted and watched the line grow until it was about three rows deep from having to turn back in on itself. About 3 PM on the dot they handed out the tickets and essentially the lined just moved forward to the start of the signing area.



So even though technically we were allowed to leave the line because we had tickets. We thought better of it. But there were enough of us to watch stuff so others could go smoke, bathroom break whatever.



Also for me to sneak off and see the Joss Whedon circus event at 3:30. So leaving the rest of the assemblage behind, I trudged upstairs to watch Joss until 4 PM. Unfortunately the Joss QA started late, so I didn't get to hear as much of it as I might have. The hall was huge and there were a lot of people. It started maybe 10 minutes late. First a guy from Dark Horse came out, and he announced the Joss man. Joss came out, completely disheveled (so what else is new), tired and craking jokes.



He basically spoke about in general about all the shows, Buffy Season 7, Angel Season 4, Firefly's "first tumultuous, but hopefully worth it year" and Fray the comic book. He spoke about how he first came to the convention with Aly and Nick and they didn't even know if they had any fans.



He then set up the two Firefly clips, the new Sci Fi trailer and the more Western exerpt from the 2 hour pilot. I have discussed both of those in detail in the Firefly Thread , so if you havent read that and have an interest, you can check out there. The clips took about 10 minutes to view, then he opened right up to the QA.



I only had time to sit for about 5 questions. Nothing really of interest to me. Except for someone brought up that Emma Caufield had said she gets to do another musical number. Joss confirmed that episode 5 will be about Anya and there will be a flashback to her, during the time of the OMWF and she gets to do a ballad. His quote was, "We wanted to give Anya her due as a character and we just all really wanted to hear Emma sing again."



At 4 PM sharp I rushed downstairs and pushed through the crowd to get back to the Inkworks booth. I was guessing on Amber being a few minutes late and luckily she was. I got down there with about 5 minutes to spare before she showed up. Got back in line, fired up the camera and got ready for her to show.



Soon enough up walks Amber yeah, in her usual stripey had with Mom and Sis in tow. She got settled in and put her hair up out of her way, it was extremely hot in that place. So lots of picture taking ensues. Amber is her usual chipper little self, smiling and hugging everyone. Chatting, everyone is taking picture for everyone. Amber is getting up and going around the corner of the table to take pictures with just about everyone, (except for Kitten Agenda members that forget to take them for each other).



We were pretty close up in line and ended up at the front of our mini pack. So, now we're on, Xita and I, going with the double team. Now trying to sort everything, getting out my comic and dvd to get signed. Amber immediately asks about the DVD, it's the Emmy version. She shows it to her sister.



We got you a new Kitten tshirt, she's all you guys are so great. I said do you want grey or white? "Which one do you prefer?" she asked. I tell her the grey. "Ok, I will take the grey." So I pull it out and am explaining so Joss is here, and we had these tshirts made up special, we're giving one to Joss too. I show her the got tara? side, we joked about not putting blood on the back and she is like "see I told Joss the hole needed to be bigger." At the notion of giving one to Joss she said "oh my god, you guys are terrible." She laughed and reached over the table and hugged both Xita and I at the same time.



Asked what color pen to use on the dvd, we went for the gold, Ambers gold pen was cooler than Joss', see pic below.



Xita told her about the Trevor Project Fund Raiser.



You don't want to hold up the line, but we are trying to get her up to date on everything.



We watched Storm and Melonie and Stella and Kay go through the line. Then it was time to run over to Dark Horse and meet up with Joss. Everyone was kind of following me, and I lost them in the crowd. No matter I got in a realtively short line for Joss, presumably because everyone was still at his Q&A. Good for me. So I just sat in line, called Xita, eventually she and Storm made their way over and quickly ran off to smoke. No big, one of us in line is more than enough.

I got the full array of bad pics with Amber, new camera I was fighting with the focus all weekend. It was supposed to be auto focus, but obviously was not. I have many more compromising pics of her, abliet blurry, taking up space on my hard drive.



Besides it was all worth just for this one shot of her with the shirt, that look is priceless.
