Tara's Theme

Postby willow4tara2gether4eva » Fri Apr 04, 2003 12:42 am

Actually the title should be Tara's Theme, Willow's Theme and Tara and Willow's Theme. But I though the first part alone sounded much more poetic.

If one was to put music two our two beloved witches, how whould you do it.

Tara: I imagine something like the Suite from Forrest Gump. Bittersweet and beautiful. Really emotional and full of grace. Just like our Tara.

Willow: I'd imagine something a little more up beaty (if that is a word) ;) Something light and fun but practical at the same time. The theme from 'Emma' would really suit Willow.

As for Willow and Tara together... :devilish

For some reason I have the 'Star Wars' theme in my head (after all they are lightyears ahead of the rest of the world) ;) Okay, maybe not that in the end, but something John Williams. His work is grand enough to express the grandness of Willow and Tara! A love that defines the ages! Nothing else comes close.

So what theme's whould y'all give to Willow and Tara, individually and together? Wouldn't it be drool worthy if one days somebody would create a beautiful theme for them and put it together with a montage of their best moments. :love

I don't know if this counts, but I recently watched a movie called Warlock 3. It was a bad film, but in one scene(where a character is doing a tarot reading) there was this beautiful piece of music that I think would be a good theme for Willow and Tara. I think it's called 'The Perfect Spot'.

Hope that helps.

Tara's theme - "The Spirit" by Magnum. A song about following your conscience. Sums up for me how Tara lived her life.

Willow's theme - Got 2 for Willow. "My Futre's So Bright (I Gotta wear Shades) sums her life up til the end of season 5(Sorry cant remember who the artists were). And "Prayer" by Disturbed pretty well sums up life for the latter half of season six and certainly post-Tara.

Tara & Willow's theme - "Endless Love" by Lionel Ritchie and Diana Ross. Kinda sums itself up dont you think? Just read that they sing it in Lorne's bar in "Monster Island" and it seems so appropriate.

There is already Willow & Tara theme. Christophe Beck wrote a beautiful piece of music for their Flaming O scene. He reused it for Extra Flamey scene. I still think its their theme.

I totally see something John William-sy. Along the lines of "Princess Leia's Theme maybe. Although any of the really soft songs from Star Wars would be a nice starting ground.

My girlfriend is planning on using "Beautiful" by jim Brickman in a fic as a love song to Willow from Tara. I tend to lean more towards the classic broadway love songs- "All I Ask of You" (Phantom), "Unexpected Song" (Song & Dance) ect.

A Willow season 6, pre- Seeing Red theme is totally "What If" by Kate Winslet.

And what better theme for Tara then her very one "Under Your Spell"??

Yeah, that piece of music was stunning. Why dont they release an album of Chris Beck's score work for Buffy?

Oh definitely. I love the music from those scenes. I have been looking for them online (just the music I mean), but so far without success. I love film music, and some classical pieces, but those works are written for specific movies and scenes, some remind me of WT, certainly almost every love song I hear reminds me of them, heh, but the music for the Flaming O and Extra Flamey scene, were composed for WT and they fit perfectly. I love it. I want it.

Definitely " This love" by Craig Armstrong and Elizabeth Fraser from Cruel Intentions Soundtrack..... It's really sexy and describes their passion perfectly... :laugh

thank you Hyo Shin, I must of completely missed that theme! eek! I am loosing Kitten Street Creed! Ack!

Does anybody remember the movie "Beautiful" with Minnie Driver? She sings a beautiful cover of Carol King's classic "Will you still love me tommorrow". That would also make a romantic theme for our girls. Maybe I am just being a hopeless romantic... *sigh*

Heck many of Carol King's songs are perfect (ie "You've got a Friend and "I feel the earth move) :devilish

Yaaaaa'l trippin'. :p

How about "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye? Oh yes, I do think so.

Personal fave here would be "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys...and "Breathe" by Maria Mckee - intense, involved, dark and way too sexy for this post.

I'm interested that so many of you consider John Williams a romantic composer. I find his music bombastic and borrowed, but that's just me. George Fenton wrote a lovely score for the film Shadowlands that I highly recommend here - lush, rich, sad, ful of love and longing and redemption. Patrick Doyle's score for Sense and Sensibility has some lovely themes as well, namely Patience and...well, just all of it.

There's my two cents. Lots more up there, but too tired to think.

Cheers!

I've reposted a few people in the Songs that remind us of Willow and Tara thread. That's the place to discuss or talk about songs that remind us of WT. Otherwise we'll have the same discussion in two threads.

Beck's Music

Postby LadyCallie » Sat Apr 05, 2003 1:40 pm

About a year ago my sister found a site that had alot of Chris Beck's Buffy music on it.

impermanence.hispeed.com/lw/

Sadly it's now closed, but if you email the admin, she might be able to direct you to where she found the music. I've got quite alot from S1-S3.

Also there's a nice collection of W-T pics at the sister site- 'A Thousand Words'.

impermanence.hispeed.com

Hope that helps a little.

Hmm. I don't think you can get the music on its own, but you can record the soundtrack from the Flaming O scene. It's not like there's a lot of dialogue. :)

I ran a wire from my DVD player to my Mac and captured it. I could probably email to you or post to the web an MP3, if you're interested?

Evercat, that would be awesome and surely I am not the only one interested, so if you do perhaps you can post it in the Willow/Tara Multimedia Thread?

Ladiecallie, thanks for the info as well. :)

Hello. This is only opinion - Taras theme maybe start slowly, melancholicaly, continuing in wait melody and explodes on big hymn (its not from me its from Hans Zimmer themes).

OK, I linked to the Flaming O MP3 (compressed to zip) from the Multimedia thread. As I said there, it would be good if someone else could host the file...

Sadly, it's not really just the music, it includes Willow and Tara doing the spell, though I think this makes it better. But for a musical purist I guess you may never get just the music on its own...

Is this as good as you hoped for?

Aw shucks, everyone here is too young to remember the really good theme songs. The only one that would really do justice to Tara is "Laura's Theme" from the 1944 movie, with (natch;) ) appropriate alterations to Johnny Mercer's famous lyric:

"O Tara, you're the face in the misty light,

Footsteps that you hear down the hall,

The laughter that floats on the summer night,

That you can never quite recall.

And you see Tara, on the train that is passing through,

Those eyes, how familiar they seem!

She gave your very first kiss to you,

That was Tara, but she's only a dream!"

Now THAT'S a theme song!:D

Has anybody heard about a lovely ghost movie called The Ghost and Mrs. Muir? My ex is a big fan of the movie and almost begged me to see it. I like it. It is a darling and lovely romance.

BTW, it has a great score by Bernard Hermann. It's wonderfully romantic and passionate.

I can imagine an old fashioned B/W romance movie about Willow and Tara. Maybe it is about Tara's ghost or Tara's return. I can reuse his score for the movie.
