the CW is casting for super girl - clark's cousin

I would love to see amber get this role!

Supergirl Heads to Smallville:
In an effort to bring new life into veteran CW drama Smallville, the upcoming seventh season will feature the arrival of Clark's (Tom Welling) 19-year-old cousin, who is also Supergirl. She was born on Krypton, possesses all of Clark's powers and can also fly. Casting for the Supergirl role is currently underway.

I'll second that, but why stop there as long as we're wishin'?

Supergirl, played by Amber Benson, has a really, really close friend, played by a certain familiar redhead. Amid the subtext and text of their relationship, this life-partner deals in magics and computers. :)

Then we can have a new villian with an evil mustache, played by a balding guy who cracks lame jokes and wears a pink backpack. This evil-mutant-enemy-guy prefers guns, but fortunately bullets bounce off Supergirl. In fact, we could have a scene where the villian shoots, then looks down at his chest to find a ricocheted present. He grabs his wound and says, "Your... uhhh, ummm... my shirt!"

Sounds like a story for Pens, doesn't it?

hmm, I can't quite grasp where that image is coming from but...

Amber playing a 19-year-old again? I can see it.

Sounds like all those Supergirl / Batgirl slash fics out there.

Course you all know what Supergirl's name is right? It's the awfully close sounding "Kara".

Nope, if said cousin were 29 years old then maybe, as far as age is concerned anyway, but even then I can´t really seen her playing an (athletic) superhero. With all due respect, she managed to dance into a big pole once. It may not be a good idea to have her fly across a set. :p

You all seemed to read my mind when you created this thread, I would love to see Amber as Supergirl . Contact the producers and let them know that you want Amber for the role of Supergirl. I believe that she would be just perfect for the role. So let's pray that she gets the role!!!!
Her additions would spark people's interest and help the show a great deal.

The short skirt and the cape, definitely can see Amber wearing the cape.
Those kick-ass red boots as well.
Maybe Supergirl can be exposed to red kryptonite and she becomes a vampire thus bringing back two characters at once.
Linda Lee Danvers becomes Lenore, Superman's vampire cousin.

That reminds me of the pink Kryponite that turned Superman gay and what's good for Superman...

God knows I hate to rain on a Kitten parade, but I'm not sure Amber can pull off "nineteen" anymore. Mind you, she doesn't look thirty (Renew! Carousel!), but...

Now, if I where to cast new supers on Smallville... if they ever do a Legion of Super Heroes arc, maybe with some of the LSH coming back to the past ("historical research" and such) Amber would be great in the part of Imra Ardeen (Ranzz) AKA Saturn Girl.

For sure. I admit I used to have a wee bit of an 80´s crush on her, but superwonder girl or whoever was a tad embarrassing, but I guess it paid a bill (kinda like gryphon :p).

Time to put our LSH fan geek cards on the table.
Better than Saturn Girl for Amber would be Luorna Durgo a.k.a Duo Damsel since then there would be two times the Ambery goodness.

Considering Duo Damsel was originally Tirplicate Girl I like the idea 33 & 1/3 percent more.

Mmmmrrrhhh. Duo Damsel nee Triplicate Girl was never one of the LSH's frontrunners, so for the purposes of Smallville Saturn Girl is better.

OTOH, if we did cast Amber as DD or Trip Girl, it would be funny if they cast Adam as ... Chuck Taine AKA Bouncing Boy!

Maybe I'm just a big perv but all I can think of in this instance is a certain scene in a certain chapter of SMUTbunnies where Shy and Adora were undercover at a costume party on a yacht...Adora was dressed as Lara Croft and Amber...I mean Shy...was Supergirl...I just can't help recalling a certain incident with those pointy red boots ;-)

I hesitated to mention Luorrna Durgo's initial character as Triplicate Girl since her third self was electrocuted by Braniac Five's cybernetic construct Computo, thus if Amber were cast as Triplicate Girl, it would further perpetuate the line of charcters she's played which have suffered untimely deaths.
Thus, Duo Damsel as she and Bouncing Boy got married when he lost his powers.
As mentioned on the Essence of Amber Board, I would also be keen on seeing Amber as Black Canary so she could be clad in fishnet stockings.

I would be as happy as Charlie Bucket when he found the Golden Ticket.
Bringing the Ambery goodness to another prime time network series as a supporting character ona recurring basis would be wonderful and then there's the costume.

Despite how utterly yummy she would look in the costume, I personally think our girl Amber is a little long in the tooth for Supergirl...however they are supposed to be doing a new Bionic Woman that she would just be fabulous in...just imagine all those long, lovely, slo-mo running shots :sigh

I know I am being a swine and objectifying Amber a little...but then isn't that kind of a tradition on the Kitten board? ;-) But seriously, it's hard to talk about the depth of her voluminous talents when one is discussing super hero roles...this ain't Ibsen we're talking about here, people... :kgeek

I'm not sure how old Clark Kent is supposed to be in Smallville but Tom Welling and Amber are about the same age. Amber's 30 isn't she?

Yes they are about the same age even though Tom Welling is almost thirty he's still playing a character in his early twenties. So ther'e not all that different in actual age. And to answer the guy's question about seeing Amber in a costume in ain't gonna hapen because accrording to producers there is a no-tights rule on Smallville. You will get to see Supergirl fly though. Like I've said before, if Amber gets the role great. If not that okay too. At least there was somebody out there, other then me that thinks she can do the role. If Amber doesn't get it would anyone mind Micheller Trachtenberg?

I wouldn't mind seeing Michelle as Supergirl. She's a good actress and I haven't seen her on TV for a long time.

Maybe a better role for Amber would be Power Girl, she's an older alternate earth version of Supergirl with a 'don't **** with me' attitude. Come to think of it I don't think I've seen Amber playing a really ballsy woman. I wouldn't mind that at all. :)

I wouldn't mind seeing Amber play someone who was tough either. Which is why I believe she would be good for Supergirl. They could make her look younger with makeup or digital technology. It's done all the time now.

You know, I keep seeing all these people from genre shows and comics etc. who are no where near as blessed in the acting department as Amber is...where is her show? She could totally carry off a starring role...

What I think would be really amazing would be a buddy cop/detective perhaps con-women or whatever with Amber and Claudia Black...both great at drama and impeccable comic timing...ass-kicking skills aplenty...and both graduates cum laude of the Academy of Subtle Facial Acting...not to mention both black belts in the sarcasm department...this could so work

:sigh In a perfect world.......

But in this world, a great talent like Amber is a relative unknown and the freakin' caveman from those annoying Geico adverts gets a series :happy

i'm not even going to fight the nerd in me from rising....

What about Amber as Dinah (Drake) Lance, the Black Canary? I mean, Smallville introduced GA, and the concept of the JLA, and she was tight with both of them. That could be fit into Smallville. That would be a far less tired concept than Supergirl.
Plus, the whole body suit/fishnet stockings/high heeled boots thing is awfully appealing. And BC rides a motercycle!

Sounds like all those Supergirl / Batgirl slash fics out there.

And I'll add that Batgirl/Oracle and Black Canary have their own sizeable femmeslash niche.

Shaucker; I came up with the same idea on "another site;" and given that _Smallville_ is spinning its own version of DC continuity, maybe Black Canary could be a "mystery hero" who has been active for a while and has a more stablsihed rpeutation. (kinda-sorta like she and the other Earth-II heroes were to the Earth-I heroes back in the 60s.)
