Anthony Carrigan and Amber Benson have landed roles in Lifetime's drama "Long Island Confidential."

"Long Island," from ABC Studios and Bender-Brown Prods., centers on a detective (Alison Elliott) who returns to her Long Island roots and learns that it's hard to escape the past.

Carrigan and Benson will play Jake and Liz, respectively, Elliott's character's brother and sister. They join previously cast Lorraine Bracco and Ruben Santiago-Hudson.

Benson is best known for playing Tara Maclay on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

Not to mention the fact that really successful cable shows sometimes get better numbers than some of the less successful network shows! :party

futon critic and variety articles say Lifetime gave the green light to make the pilot last fall - but so far I don't see any info on the web that would suggest it got picked up

pilot made in canada

Lorraine Brocco (sopranos) was cast as the mom

If Lifetime liked the pilot they would have the option to pick up the drama for their network

Lifetime gives go-ahead to 'Island'
Network greenlights Brown, Bender drama
By JOSEF ADALIAN

Lifetime has greenlit "Long Island Confidential," a new drama from feature producers Kevin Brown and Lawrence Bender, who are teaming with "Cold Case" scribe Jan Oxenberg.

Cabler has picked up a pilot for the drama, to be produced by ABC Studios. Potential skein revolves around a homicide detective who returns to her Long Island home, where she discovers her past is still a factor.

Guy Bee ("Criminal Minds," "Veronica Mars") is set to direct the pilot. Despite the New York setting, pilot will lense in Toronto.

Oxenberg, most recently co-exec producer of NBC's short-lived "Kidnapped," wrote the pilot and will exec produce with Bender and Brown.

Bender and Brown's recent TV forays include the Rob Lowe skein "Dr. Vegas." On the film front, Bender's credits range from "Pulp Fiction" to "An Inconvenient Truth." Brown's resume includes the WB series "Roswell."
