Amber on Cold Case tonight !!!!!

Amber is also in a show called Cold Case tonight. I think that it starts at 8:00 EST. The show is on TNT and she plays a hippie. This is a rerun but I have never seen it. Oh the show is called Volunteers if you need to look it up on the tnt website.

It is an excellent episode and, as I said at the time it first aired, as one old enough to have good memories of the era, I think that AB would have fitted into the "groovy/mellow" lifestyle very nicely.

Just for kicks I re-watched the episode last night. With so many talents and qualities, it is easy to forget, as the kids say, what mad skills AB has as an actress. In the murder scene in the car, I was once again bowled over by her depiction of a sweet young woman who knows that death is imminent. As for the killer, I just started yelling at the screen "Die you evil scumbag!!!" .

I've never seen this show but it didn't stop me from writing (for a contest) a 16-line poem about how Tara would react to seeing
this episode.

I guess maybe it's partly typecasting because of Tara's wardrobe, plus that relaxed voice pattern, but Amber does have that late 60s - early 70s quality to her. Afew days ago I was imagining her as a guest on one of the variety shows of the period, like Jim Nabors or Glen Campbell or Sonny and Cher, singing "Snowbird" or "Big Yellow Taxi."
Today tho i was thinking she'd make a great Bobbie McGee if they filmed that song, altho finding a 20-something Kristofferson type to play the Kentucky boy, who could hold his acting own opposite her, would be trickier.

If only she wasn't so beautiful, she'd make a great Janis Joplin in that bio-pic they've been constantly recasting for the last 10 or 15 years...she's certainly got the acting chops to go with the hippie street cred...although if they could make Chalize Theron ugly for Monster...they could certainly make Amber sort of resemble Janis...I believe the last person mentioned was Zooey Deschanel but that was over a year ago

The problem, umgaynow, is not whether or not AB can look like Janis Joplin. The real question is can she, with her sweet soft voice, do the kind of strung-out booze-fueled screaming that JJ was famous for?

Perhaps they could dub in some of JJ's actual recordings.

DCA--Are you talking about "Ode To Billy Joe"? If so, there already is a marvelous film of this song starring the great Glynnis O'Connor. It was made in 1976.

Hemiola; No, i was referring to "Me and Bobbie McGee," written by Kris Kristofferson, later covered by Janis Joplin which is probably why posters began mentioning her. (I'm incurable; back in the 80s I wrote a sequel lyric in which Bobbie, long after becoming a respectable homemaker, thinks back to the boy she came out West with.)

I've seen parts of the _Ode to Billy Joe_ movie, altho I think I missed the scene where we found out what they threw off the bridge. Robby Bensen was the male lead, as I recall.

In the film, Billy Joe jumps off the Tallahatchie Bridge because he cannot live with the revelation (both to himself and others) of his homosexuality, which was a "standard" reaction at the time the story is set (the 1950s in the Deep South). :(
