Chapter Twenty-one



Tara sat with her back against a sprawling oak tree, Willow's head laying on her lap. Neither one of them had spoke in quite a while...both just enjoying the sensation of feeling their bodies touching against one another.



Tara ran her fingers lovingly through Willow's hair...



"What are you thinking?"



Willow looked up at her, smiling. "Just thinking about how nice this feels...how nice you feel..."



With those words,Tara felt a wave of heat flowing through her, settling firmly in between her thighs.



Oh goddess...do you have any idea what you're doing to me?



"...was it always like this?" Willow asked.



"Like what?"



"You know...like this...it all just seems so perfect..."



"You're the closest thing to perfection that I've ever seen." Tara said with a smile. "You know, from the first time I saw you...'faerie hunting'...I couldn't take my eyes off you...I knew I was in real trouble..."



"Trouble? Me? Now why would you ever say a thing like that?" Willow said, teasing her.

"Completely helpless...eh? Maybe I'll have to save you..."

"Oh, you might, eh?"



"Maybe..."



Willow let out a sigh...sinking deeper into Tara's lap. There were so many things that she didn't remember...but this feeling...this was so familiar...so right.



"...and what would you wish to do with me, once you saved me?"



"Hmmmm...let me think for a sec..."



Willow bit her bottom lip and crinkled her brow in a pensive look as she pondered the question...



Her mind wandered...



A nice cozy cabin in the woods...fire in the fireplace...blankets and pillows laid out on the hearth...candles filling the room with a warm glow...snow falling gently outside...easing you back onto the soft nest of blankets...untying your cloak and sliding it off your shoulders, revealing the creamy white skin underneath...



"Well?" Tara asked - breaking Willow out of her daydream...



"Well what?"



"What would you do?"



"Can't tell you..."



"What do you mean you can't tell me?"



"Can't tell you...or it won't come true..."



"You are evil!" Tara said, tickling Willow in the side. The events of the last day had been so dramatic...it was nice to just be able to relax and enjoy each other's company for a while.



"No! Tara!" Willow said, wiggling on the blonde's lap, laughing heartily.



It felt good to laugh. Everything felt so good...now that Tara was there...



"So are you ready to tell me yet?"



"Nope...you'll just have to tune in tomorrow..."



"Huh?"



"Ooops...no TV...sorry...you'll just have to wait and see."



Tara pouted.



Willow laid her head back down, looking up into Tara's eyes...



My wish? I'd make you mine forever...

Chapter Twenty-two



The hours passed quickly, but neither of them noticed. They were too busy just enjoying the feeling of being together...Willow for the first time...Tara remembering days past...



She gazed at her love, her head nestled so snugly into her lap. She remembered every curve, every dip of the red-head's slender body. All that she wanted to do right now was to stay in this moment forever...never let her go again. She looked up at the sky, noticing that they had dreamed the day away, and the sun was setting...



"L-looks like we'd better be getting back to the house, soon."



"MmmHmmm." Willow said, raising up from her comfortable pillow...stopping as their eyes met.



"Goddess, you're beautiful." Willow said, gazing into those deep pools of blue.



Tara blushed a deep scarlet - her eyes never breaking contact with Willow's. The two could feel the immense energy flowing back and forth between them, and they knew where it was leading them...but the forrest could be a dangerous place after darkness fell.



"W-we'd better get back to the house..."



"Yeah...you're right..." Willow said...more than a little disappointed. She started down the path - suddenly realizing she had absolutely no idea where they were...let alone how to get back to the house. "...um...after you." She said, gesturing Tara to go ahead of her.



Tara smiled. "Don't remember the way back, eh?"



"You noticed, huh?"



"Just a little..." Tara said, with a wink. "Come on, I'll make sure you get back safely..." she said, taking Willow's hand and leading her down the path towards the house.



"This is nice."



"What?"



"We spent the whole day together...and now you're walking me home...kinda like a first date or something... I mean...even though it wasn't our first date...it kind of was for me..."



Their first date...just the thought of it made Tara smile.



"...there was a full moon."



"What?"



"T-there was a full moon, the night of our 'first date'."



"Tell me about it...please?"



"You had been after me since that day at the hot springs...finding convenient excuses for us to spend time together..."



"Me? Excuses? Never!"



"Right...and you said that it was going to be a full moon that night...and you asked if I would like to meet you at the Esbat site to charge some crystals...make moon water...and a variety of other things that you made up on the spot..."



"Well...it worked, didn't it?"



"Yes, it did..." she said, smiling coyly. "When I arrived, I was met by one of the most beautiful circles I have ever seen...made completely out of white roses and moonstones..."



Not bad, Rosenberg!



"You offered me a single crimson rose...and asked if I would enter the circle with you."



Oooh! This is getting good!



"I said yes...and we shed our cloaks and entered the circle..."



Tara...naked...in the moonlight...in a circle of roses...Willow's mouth started to water at the thought...



"Somehow...we never managed to charge the crystals or make the moon water..."



"Somehow...that doesn't suprise me!" Willow said...



Where's a nice circle of roses when you really need one!



"The sky was so clear I thought we could see directly into the heavens...you looked at me and said that wasn't possible...because..."



Willow stopped, taking Tara's arm and turning her face-to-face...looking deeply into her eyes "... because I'm looking into Heaven right now."

Chapter Twenty-three



"B? Giles? What the hell is going on?" Faith said, entering Willow's room.



"Faith? What are you doing here?" Buffy said, quickly wiping the tears from her face, hoping that her fellow-Slayer didn't see them.



"I got this weird letter from Red saying that you needed me to come here right away...I looked around for you at the Magic Box but..." Just then, Faith saw Willow's frail body within the circle. "Geezus! What the hell? Spell go wrong again?"



"No, I'm afraid it went all too right this time." Giles said, sadly.



"Come on, let's take a walk and I'll explain it all to you..." Buffy said, leading Faith out the door.



Later...



"So let me get this straight...you guys all get killed fighting this Kaliphicus guy because Red screws up...so future Red goes back in time to find a way to stop it...and then leaves this book and these letters for herself to find...this is just too friggin' confusing, B!"



"I know..."



"So...how are you doing with all of this...I mean...I know how close you and Red are and all..."



"It hurts, Faith...it hurts so bad...she's like...she's like my sister...we do everything together..."



"I know."



"I just feel so responsible for all of this...I mean, if she didn't know me...if she didn't feel so damned responsible for taking care of me and all...she wouldn't be in this mess to begin with."



"Why do you think I keep my distance, B? This is what happens...people get hurt. I don't know how you do it...I know I couldn't..."



"I just...I can't do it alone, Faith...I know it's selfish of me...but I just can't..." Buffy said, not being able to stop the tears flowing freely down her cheeks.



Faith saw how much Buffy was hurting. She knew what it was like, to bear the burden of being one of the Chosen ones. It had taken Faith many years to build the wall that she had put up to defend herself against just such emotions.



I know what you're feeling, B....and I'm sorry. God, how I wish I could take all of your pain away!



Buffy broke down as Faith wrapped her strong arms around her fellow Slayer.



"Shhh...hey, it's gonna be okay, k? Come on, now...you're gonna ruin my reputation for being a cold-hearted bitch if anybody sees us, you know." Faith said, trying to lighten up the situation.



Buffy sniffled "...they may think you're a cold-hearted bitch...but I don't..." she said, starting to cry again.



"Yeah...well...just don't tell anybody, okay?" Faith said, tucking Buffy in closer, rubbing her back. "Hey, we'd better get back up there or they're going to send out a search party for us."



"Yeah..." Buffy said, taking Faith's hand in hers as they walked back to the house.



Hmmm...pretty soft hands for a cold-hearted bitch...

Chapter Twenty-four



Willow stood staring into Tara’s eyes for what seemed like an eternity…wanting to kiss her…and yet not wanting to look away from those beautiful Sapphire eyes…



Tara was the first to break the awkward silence.



“The house…it’s right around the bend…and…um…we’d better get back…”



“What?” Willow said, coming out of her daze “…oh, yeah…right…”



The two walked hand-in-hand in silence…both nervous and excited at the prospect of what might happen between them this night…



As they reached the doorstep leading into the house, Willow stopped, turning to Tara once again.



“Guess this is where I would be saying goodnight…and telling you what a great evening I had with you…you know…if I wasn’t staying here with you and all…” Willow said, sheepishly.



“You…um…never said goodnight that night.”



“What??? I can’t believe that I was that rude! I didn’t tell you goodnight?”



“Nope…” Tara said, grinning.



“You’re serious?”



Tara nodded, leaning in and whispering into Willow’s ear “…you never said goodnight to me that night…because you never left…”



Tara’s warm breath hit the tender skin behind Willow’s ear with tiny tendrils of electricity…



“Oh…I…see….” Willow said, breathlessly.



Oh man…if she does that once more, I’m not going to be responsible for what I do to her…



Tara opened the door, leading Willow inside. She reached for the oil lamp sitting on the cupboard…



“Illuminatus!”



The wick of the lamp glowed bright with flame.



“There…that’s a little better.”



There was nothing left but glowing embers in the fireplace…and only a few pieces of wood in the tender.



“I’ve got to run out to the woodpile…I’ll be back in a few minutes.”



“Do you want me to come with?” Willow asked…still not wanting to let the beautiful blonde out of her sight.



“No sense in us both going…I’ll only be a few minutes. You stay warm…I’ll be right back.”



With that, she grabbed the cloth tender and headed out the door.



Ok Rosenberg! Now’s your chance! Granted, it’s not snowing outside…but it is a bit chilly! Get to it – you’ve only got a few minutes before she comes back!



Willow ran over to the bed, taking all of the covers and pillows off of it and spreading them out in front of the hearth. She gathered as many candles as she could find and lit them in the embers…spreading them throughout the room, giving it a warm and soothing glow. Finally, she threw the remaining pieces of wood into the embers. They caught fire just as Tara walked through the door…



“Oh my…you did this for me?”



“I wouldn’t do this for anyone else…” Willow said, crossing the room. She took the tender out of Tara’s hand and closed the door, leading her over to the nest that she had made in front of the hearth. Willow sat the tender next to the fireplace and turned back to Tara. The firelight was bouncing off her hair, making it look like spun gold…



“Goddess, you’re beautiful.” Willow said, reaching out with her hand, laying it ever-so-softly on the side of Tara’s cheek. Instinctively, Tara turned her face, taking Willow’s hand in hers and gently kissing her palm…



“Tara…I’ve never…”



“Shhh…you’ll remember…” Tara said, leaning towards Willow, pulling her into her waiting embrace…pressing her lips to Willow’s, urgently seeking satisfaction. Tara met with no resistance, as Willow’s lips eagerly devoured hers…their tongues exploring the confines of each other’s mouths…



Willow reached up, pulling on the ties of Tara’s cloak…pushing it off her shoulders, revealing the creamy white skin underneath.



“Oh goddess, Willow…I’ve missed you so much…”



Hearing those words was the only encouragement that Willow needed to overcome her fear of this being her ‘first time’…
