I've read most if this a while back, but I'm just now catching up on the last few chapters--so my feedback's going to be more of a holistic one.

Im a fan of the Buffy/Faith pairing in general, but I love how you used their relationship in juxtaposition with Willow and Tara's. Not only do you have two burgeoning relationships happening almost simultaneously, but you have similar parallels with each couple as well. I think it's quite difficult to have only a second couple sharing face time in a Fic--but you use the B/F relationship in a way that doesn't detract from W/T's.

I love "falling in love" stories--they just make my heart all warm and happy :heart You're doing a wonderful job of letting the relationship build without rushing either into the "L" word territory, but at the same time illustrating the growing feelings Willow and Tara are having for each other.

I even enjoy the angst :grin I'm a fan of well-used conflict; it only makes a story more intriguing and realistic, imho.

I'm interested to see what happens with the next update and how Willow will follow through (or not) with her parental blow-up, and also how you'll handle the Faith situation.

Can't waif for more!

Feedback:

vampygurl73 -
Very sweet chapter after the major drama of the last with Willow finally telling her parents to take a flying leap.

Thanks, I’m glad you liked it. Yes Willow needed to tell her parents exactly how she felt but unfortunately this is not the end. It never gets so easily wrapped up in a sweet little package.

Both Faith and Willow with crap parents - maybe a bonding issue for them?

There’s an idea.

Looking forward to more, I'm really enjoying your story

Thank you, I’m glad you like it.

Finey_McFine -
I'm glad that Faith fessed up to Buffy. Of course she worried for nothing, it's Buffy! I'm also happy that Willow took the first steps in telling Tara about her family. Great job on the role reversals! As you know, I'm a big fan of mixing it up:) I think it makes it more interesting.

Yes it does and I think maybe it’s harder to write that way. Of course Buffy was going to be understanding about Faith though and Willow will eventually tell Tara all about her parents but that train’s going to take a little longer to get here.

Willow babble was adorable and perfectly written!

Thanks. I’m actually really starting to like writing that. It’s getting easier to do it as I write more and more.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm really glad that Faith told Buffy about her so called mother...

It will come in handy later that Buffy already knows about the situation.

I'm really really happy that Willow has started to tell Tara about her parents...

Yes. Like I said, it’s going to take a while to get there fully for Willow but she will, eventually.

I loved the dinner and the walk to the bench afterwards...

Cute moment. Thanks for the feedback.

DaddyCatALSO -
Very good chapter (and I've only just started following this fic a week or two ago,) feels like a natural progression in both relationships.

I’m glad you decided to give this a chance and that you’re enjoying it. I didn’t want to rush either relationship because in my experience it’s so much better when it just happens naturally rather than forced.

Speaking from this particular corner of Planet Guy, neither social acceptance nor media saturation can reduce a basic drive :-), but the way those guys became an un-asked for and privacy invading cheering section, was, well, just tacky. (Or maybe it's the generation gap; I'm 55 not 22.)

Well thanks for your perspective. I can see you’re point. And you nailed it: tacky. Well that and incredibly annoying when you’re trying to have a private moment.

Thanks for reading.

WillowRulez -
You hope I like the new update? I love it

Yay!

I am so glad that Faith told Buffy what was going on. I wonder if Buffy is going with her to the funeral? Or maybe that would be too early, I don't know. You'll make them do the right thing though I bet

Well that will be answered in this update. I hope you feel I made the right choice.

I'm also very happy that Tara mentioned to Willow that they still are getting to know each other and that it was okay if they didn't know everything about one another immediately. It's good that they'll take their time, with everything that has happened to Willow she probably needs that kind of reassurance that not everything has to be forced.

Exactly. There’s no rush. It’s still really new and those first few months when you’re getting to know someone are the best anyway. Why rush through them?

Thanks for reading.

love_2003
Amazing update. I'm glad Faith told Buffy about her mom.

Yes, it needed to be done, to put Buffy at ease for one and secondly, to have Faith open up a little more about herself.

Willow and Tara's date was the perfect way to celebrate.

I thought it was time for another proper date. Thanks for commenting.

Ariel -
Loved the opening as Willow wakes up, "Did I fall asleep on a rock?" Then the Buffinator getting all breakfast song-y

I had Nicki Minaj in my head since my g/f won’t stop singing it so I just thought I’d throw it in there. Lol.

Then myriad sweet moments, touching ones where friendship stayed strong and Faith shared her pain with Buffy.

This story, when I first started writing it, was not going to be so much about the friendships but now that I’ve been at it a while, I like that that’s the direction it took. I hope everyone else reading it is enjoying it too.

You've totally got me caring about them all over again.

Yay!

Eager to see how the Rosenbergs do and how our favorite couple navigates through falling in love and becoming a couple.

It will be a fantastical journey. Thanks for reading (before and after) and commenting.

Promthea128 – Yes Willow and Faith are both having issues but things will be ok.

Glad that Buffy and Tara activate their supporto-girl super powers, in both friendship and "extreme like."

Definitely. That’s what friends are there for and for significant others, also important.

Plus more cute sweet-adorable-amazing-ness of W and T

Coming up! Thanks for reading.

Cyteach – Well I’m glad you decided to give this story a chance and that you’re enjoying it.

Im a fan of the Buffy/Faith pairing in general, but I love how you used their relationship in juxtaposition with Willow and Tara's. I think it's quite difficult to have only a second couple sharing face time in a Fic--but you use the B/F relationship in a way that doesn't detract from W/T's.

You know, I wasn’t planning on having Faith and Buffy’s relationship be so much a part of this story but I’m glad it’s turned out the way it has. And I’m glad it’s not turning you off from the story because I definitely don’t want to detract from Willow and Tara’s growing relationship.

I love "falling in love" stories--they just make my heart all warm and happy You're doing a wonderful job of letting the relationship build without rushing either into the "L" word territory, but at the same time illustrating the growing feelings Willow and Tara are having for each other.

I do too and I’m loving writing this. Again, so glad you’re enjoying it and that it’s not moving too slow or fast.

I even enjoy the angst I'm a fan of well-used conflict; it only makes a story more intriguing and realistic, imho.

Me too to be honest. Fluff is great but I think a little conflict spices it up and makes the story even better.

Thanks so much for the feedback.
Anya: I don't like the sound of this. They don't sound very ex-demon compatible.

Update

Title - An Everyday Life
Author name – beautiful_love a.k.a. Jessica
Rating – R (for language/themes)
Disclaimer - I don't own these characters.
Feedback- absolutely
Summary- Totally AU - Tara meets Willow - the happy bumblings of falling in love - I'm not too good at this summary thing.
Notes: Special thanks to Ariel for her beta assistance. So there is very limited Willow/Tara interaction in this chapter and I apologize for that but I felt telling this part is important to the story. I hope you all enjoy it. Let me know what you think.

Chapter Twenty Two

Of course it has to rain today, Tara thought as she stared out the living room window from her third floor apartment, watching the puddles collect outside on the street below. How else can we make this day any shittier? Maybe watch “Terms of Endearment” and reminisce about our dearly departed childhood pets. She stepped away from the window, smoothing out the simple black dress she’d chosen for the occasion and quietly made her way to the back of the apartment where she heard Faith fumbling through her closet. She gently knocked on the door frame when she saw the brunette kneeling in front of her closet, digging through the mounds of shoes she kept there.

“Is everything ok?” she asked.

“Yeah, I just can’t find the pair I want,” Faith said, sinking back on her heels, her tone defeated. “Have you seen the black flats with the closed toe?”

“You mean the ones Anya borrowed a few weeks ago?”

“Damn it,” Faith sighed, realization dawning on her.

“I can call her for you and have her bring them to the cemetery.”

“She’s coming?” Faith asked, looking up in surprise.

“Yeah. She’s meeting us there in like fifteen minutes,” Tara said.

“Oh. I didn’t know she was coming. I thought it was just you, me, and my aunt and uncle.”

“She may be Anya but she still cares about you Faith. She just wants to make sure you’re ok.”

“I know. It’s just… this is all just so surreal I guess.”

“Well come on. I can call her when we’re on the way.”

“No, it’s ok. I’ll just wear another pair,” Faith said as she stood up and attempted to follow Tara out of the room while slipping a scuffed pair of black boots on her feet.

The two friends finished getting ready in silence, Faith only nodding when Tara asked if she was ready as they locked the door behind them. It was a quiet drive to the cemetery, the only sound in the car was the swish of the windshield wipers battling the pelting rain as they drove. As they arrived they saw the familiar faces of Faith’s aunt and uncle standing near their car with Anya, chatting politely under a canopy of umbrellas.

Tara parked her car in the mostly vacant lot and killed the engine, smiling at Anya when the blonde turned to them and gave a somber wave. Further away, mingled with the gravestones were a few other mourners, including old boyfriends/suppliers that Faith instantly recognized.

“You ready?” Tara asked, turning to Faith in the passenger seat.

“Yeah. Let’s just get this over with,” she answered as she opened the door and climbed out, slamming it behind her.

Shit, Tara thought as she climbed out of the car as well and quickly opened her umbrella to avoid being drenched. She was hoping that only Faith’s family would be there and any unwelcome company would stay away but knew they wouldn’t be so lucky.

“Hey guys,” Anya said as they approached, reaching out to give Faith a one armed hug beneath her umbrella. “You ok?” Faith just nodded before moving towards her aunt and uncle to greet them.

“How is she really?” Anya whispered once she was out of earshot.

“I don’t know,” Tara said with a shrug. “She isn’t really saying much about it. She’s just kind of going through the motions.”

“I didn’t know it would be this hard for her. I mean, it’s her mom, I get that. But the woman was a using piece of garbage. I mean she had two great kids and she just threw that away.”

“I know. I just don’t think it’s that easy for Faith to throw away the good memories she has. I think she was always hoping Renee would just snap out of it but…” Tara trailed off, watching as Faith interacted with her aunt Monica and uncle Ted. They smiled tenderly at her and reached out, trying to comfort her with kind words and small touches. Tara knew they loved Faith and looked at her almost as if she was their own daughter and she knew Faith was always grateful for that. But she couldn’t imagine growing up in her best friend’s shoes.

A black pickup truck pulled into the lot near their party at that moment. The driver parked and stepped out, adjusting his tie as he did. He looked up and made eye contact with Faith, smiling gently when he saw her. Faith smiled back and quickly jogged across the lot, throwing her arms around him as they met.

“Lukas? I thought she said he wasn’t coming,” Anya said as she watched the two hold onto each other for another moment.

“She said she didn’t think he would,” Tara said with a shrug. The girls watched for another moment as Faith finally let go and pulled the young man over to her aunt and uncle, the couple embracing their family as they came together. “I think Lucas being here will help though,” Tara said as the young man looked over at her and Anya and waved. The two girls waved back. “Maybe we should start walking towards the service,” she suggested. “Give them a little privacy.”

“Yeah ok,” Anya agreed as she turned and started up the pathway between the headstones. “So is this it? Or is there a get together afterwards? Isn’t that what people normally do?”

“I don’t know if they planned anything. Faith didn’t mention it.”

“Well if not, you want to take them to lunch or something? I mean I can pay for it if you can’t. We just had a huge sale at the store and I made twice as much this month as I did last month. I don’t know what it is but May always is big for selling blow up dolls. I had to reorder from my supplier three times and that still wasn’t enough. I mean I know some are for like bachelor parties because it is wedding season but some were just for playing, you know. Eventually I just had to convince those people that a blow up doll’s really are not ideal for intense physical activity and get them to buy a pocket-” Anya stopped when she turned to Tara, seeing the blonde staring at her, wide eyed. “What?”

“Anya! We’re at a funeral! In a cemetery!” Tara chided in a loud whisper. Anya just stared back, not grasping what Tara was getting at. “Can you save the sex toy apparatus talk for later? Like when we aren’t around mourners?”

“Oh, sure,” Anya said, completely unaffected. “So what do you think about lunch?”

“That sounds fine,” Tara said, starting to walked back up the beaten path again. “And I’ll help pay. Fifty-fifty?”

Anya just nodded as they’d reached the area where the funeral was to be held. A young minister stood nearby, reviewing some notes and a handful of other mourners had converged on the site as well. Tara looked back to see Faith making her way up the path, her armed wrapped around her brother and her aunt and uncle a step behind them.

“Hi Tara. Anya,” Lucas said as he gave each girl a hug while still holding an umbrella over his sister’s head. “Thanks for taking care of her,” he whispered in Tara’s ear before he let go. She just smiled back and watched as Faith’s uncle spoke to the minister to indicate they were ready to begin before making his way back to his wife’s side. Tara turned towards the casket as she felt Faith grab her hand, the brunette keeping her other hand firmly in her brother’s grasp. The blonde didn’t need an explanation. She just held on as the minister started to speak.

******

“Should we have stood on the other side?” Willow asked.

“No. I mean I didn’t want to be too close,” Buffy said.

“Why?”

“Well she told me not to come. I mean she didn’t like forbid me from coming but when I asked her about it she just shrugged it off so I just don’t want to step on any toes or anything.”

“But you still want to be here for her just in case,” Willow finished. Buffy just nodded.

The two stood huddled together under a small group of trees nearby, watching as Faith’s family said their goodbyes in the cemetery. They’d shown up earlier and watched out of view as the different mourners took their places near the gravesite. Buffy had asked Willow the night before if she would come with her and Willow had quickly agreed. The blonde had made it very clear that she didn’t want to alert anyone to their presence and Willow had simply agreed to that too. But when she saw Tara standing there in front of the grave, her right hand clasped in Faith’s grip and her left arm looped through Anya’s she wanted nothing more than to go offer her assistance to the group. But she’d stayed in place, standing next to Buffy, straining to hear what the minister was saying.

“Small turn out,” Willow said.

“Well her mom wasn’t… the best,” Buffy said after a moment. Willow had nothing to say to that, having had her share of bad parenting experiences.

“So are we just booking it out of here when he’s done talking?” Willow asked after another moment of straining to hear the minister.

“I probably should’ve worn other shoes. These heels really aren’t meant for ‘booking it,’” Buffy said, staring down at the black pumps she’d chosen that morning. “We may just have to blend into the forest for a while,” the blonde joked. Willow looked around her, trying to decipher the best hiding place would be when she felt Buffy tug on the sleeve of her jacket. “Come on, he’s done,” she said as she turned and made her way towards the path. Willow followed and walked as quickly as she could in her own heels towards the far corner of the parking lot where they’d parked. They’d reached Buffy’s little silver Mazda without issue before they were caught.

“Will!” Willow turned, knowing immediately who was calling her. Tara stood about fifty yards away, a questioning look in her eyes as she watched Willow and Buffy struggle to get into the car.

“Hey,” Willow called, meekly waving to the blonde.

“What are you guys doing here?” the blonde asked when she finally reached them a moment later.

“We just wanted to come and show our support,” Buffy said from inside the car through the driver’s side window.

“So why are you rushing off then?”

“Oh, well, we just didn’t want to bother you guys. I just wanted to make sure Faith was ok,” Buffy said. Tara just smiled at the blonde’s thoughtfulness.

“Well you don’t have to go,” she said, her gaze drifting back and forth between the two girls in front of her. “We were just going to go grab something to eat. If you guys w-want you can-”

“That’s ok. I mean I have to get back to work. They only have a substitute for my class until noon,” Buffy said. “I just wanted to check on her. Is she ok?”

“Yeah,” Tara nodded.

“Ok. Will, you ready?”

“Huh? Oh, yeah, sorry. I have to get back to work too,” the redhead said, turning back to Tara.

“Ok. I’ll call you later,” Tara said as Willow left a quick peck on her lips before rounding the car and climbing in the passenger side. “Bye Buffy.”

Tara watched as the car pulled out to the parking space and sped away. When it was out of sight she turned to see Faith, standing near her car with her family and Anya, staring at her and quickly made her way back to the party waiting for her.

“Was that Buffy’s car?” Faith asked as Tara reached them. The blonde just nodded. “Why didn’t she stay? I didn’t even know she was here.”

“Her and Will were incognito I think,” Tara explained. “Just wanted to make sure everything was good but they both had to get back to work.” Faith just nodded. “So is everyone ready to go?”

******

“So you didn’t stick around for round two?” Faith asked between laughs.

“Faith, she asked me to dress up like a baby,” Lukas answered. “I agreed, waited for her to leave the room and then grabbed my clothes and got the hell out of there.” The girls at the table burst out laughing again. “I mean to each his own. If that’s what you’re into, that’s totally cool. I guess I’m just old fashioned that way. Boring old vanilla sex is totally fine for me.”

“Yeah boring old vanilla sex and one night stands,” Faith said as she caught her breath.

“Faith I don’t think you grasping just how hot this girl was. And she came on to me! My male ego was soaring,” he defended before taking a sip of the beer in front of him. The siblings sat on one side of the booth with Tara and Anya on the other side at a hole-in- the-wall bar they’d stumbled across that evening, looking for something to do. They’d all gone back to Faith and Tara’s apartment after eating but no one really wanted to just sit around so they’d all changed clothes, made a pit stop at Anya’s store to check in and then proceeded to a bar down the block.

“You really should broaden your horizons Lukas,” Anya chimed in. “There’s so much out there and so many fetishes to explore. For example, robots. I have people constantly coming into the store looking for robotic toys and machines. It’s a big up and coming market and I’m actually working with some suppliers to get more things in stock. God, remember in college with I came up with the whole robotic, sex machine idea? I’d be a millionaire if I would’ve stuck with it. Technosexuality has nowhere to go but up.”

The group just stared at her for a moment before bursting out in hysterical laughter once again.

“Wow I’ve missed hanging out with you guys,” Lukas said as he finally caught his breath. “My friends are so boring.”

“Well you hang out with that accounting crowd. What do you expect?” Faith asked, signaling the waitress for another round.

“So true. So Anya, what other fetishes can you suggest?” he asked with an impish smile.

“Well there’s lots. I don’t have experience with them all but I can definitely recommend some. Let’s see there’s bondage. That’s pretty common one. Goes along with the whole S&M thing. I once had this guy-”

“Ok, before you launch into that story I need to excuse myself. I have a phone call to make,” Tara said, sliding out of the booth before anyone could protest. She quickly made her way outside where the sun was setting and found a bench to sit on before pulling her cell phone out of her jeans pocket to make her call. The phone only rang once before the familiar redhead’s voice answered.

“Hello?”

“Hey Will, it’s me.”

“Hey, how are you? Is everything ok?” Willow asked. It was at that moment that a loud group of drunk twenty-somethings exited the bar, their boisterous laughter mixing with the music from the juke box as they opened the door. “And are you at a zoo?”

“No,” Tara laughed. “I’m out with Anya, Faith, and her brother. We just came out to have a drink or two. Faith needed to get out of the apartment for a while.”

“Is she ok?”

“I don’t know honestly. I mean she was upset at the funeral and afterwards at lunch but now I think she’s just trying to sweep it under the rug. She’s just not ready to totally deal with it yet.”

“Is that a good idea?”

“Probably not but that’s just kind of how she operates sometimes,” Tara explained. “That was really nice of you guys to come this morning. I wish you would’ve stuck around though.”

“Yeah, well I think Buffy felt weird being there. Like she was intruding or something.”

“Faith saw her car when you guys left. She didn’t mind that you were there. I think she was actually kind of bummed that she didn’t get to talk to Buffy. She mentioned it to me a few times at lunch after the funeral.”

“I’m sorry.”

“No it’s ok. It’s just an all-around weird situation,” Tara sighed.

“Buffy didn’t say much about Faith’s mom. Just that she basically wasn’t mother of the year.”

“You could say that. But it’ll all be ok. Are you home now?”

“Yeah, I just got here about an hour ago. Me, Buffy, and Dawn are just hanging out, watching movies. Dawn’s officially moved back for the summer.”

“Well I won’t keep you then,” Tara said, standing up and preparing to re-enter the bar. “I just wanted to call really quick and say hi. But would you maybe want to hang out tomorrow night? Faith’s going over to her aunt and uncle’s with her brother for a ‘family evening’ before he heads back to Portland.”

“Sure.”

“Ok. Why don’t you come by around seven? I’ll make us dinner.”

“Great. I’ll see you then,” Willow said, unable to keep the excitement out of her voice.

“Bye Will,” she said with a smile as she hung up and pocketed the phone. Taking one last look at the setting sun she made her way back into the dark bar and back to the booth she was sharing with her friends just in time to see Faith and Lukas doubling over in laughter as tears spilled down their cheeks and to hear the end of an Anya story.

“That was by far the best threesome I’ve ever had,” she said as Tara sat down next to her.

“Really? I thought you’d be done with these stories by the time I got back,” Tara said.

“Oh come on, you know she’s got a million of them,” Faith said as she gained some semblance of composure. “She could go all night.”

“And I have,” Anya said with a smirk. Tara just rolled her eyes and took a sip from the water in front of her. “Oh whatever Tara. You can get rid of that prudish attitude right now.”

“I’m not a prude!”

“Well when was the last time you got laid?”

“That’s none of your business!”

“What, the new girlfriend won’t put out? Or is it you that’s holding back? Because I can help-”

“Anya! Shut up!” Tara yelled, turning red from both embarrassment and anger. Faith and Lukas watched the two blondes bicker back and forth, an uncomfortable look on both their faces.

“What I’m just asking?”

“Yeah, you’re asking stuff that none of your business!”

“So Tara, you’re seeing someone?” Lukas asked, trying to stop the argument before it could escalate any further.

“Yes.” He waited for her to elaborate but Tara said nothing else, choosing to look away from the table, her face still tinted red. From under the table Faith kicked at Anya, trying to get the petite blonde’s attention.

“Ow! Hey! Watch what you’re doing, those boots hurt,” she said when Faith got her in the shin. Faith just nodded towards Tara and mouthed ‘apologize’ when the sulking blonde didn’t look their way. “For what?” Tara finally looked over to see what was going on and Faith just rolled her eyes.

“Because you’re being an ass hole,” she said.

“I’m not being an ass hole. I’m just teasing her,” Anya said, throwing a quick glance at Tara.

“Well your teasing crossed the line Ahn,” Faith said.

“Oh.” Anya turned, taking Tara’s slumped shoulders, hurt eyes and red face and realized for the first time that she had upset her friend. “Oh,” she said, instantly feeling a pang of remorse. “Tara I’m sorry. I wasn’t trying to upset you. I was just teasing about Willow. You know, just trying to keep the mood light. You know that I don’t really think you’re a prude. And if you and Willow aren’t there yet, that’s ok. You guys haven’t been together that long. You should take your time, you know. Get to know each other.”

“It’s ok Anya,” Tara said, instantly softening as apologies from the blonde were few and far between. “Just, can we not talk about my sex life with Willow?”

“Ah ha! So you’re admitting it, you’ve done the sexy pants dance with her.”

“Anya,” Tara warned.

“No, I’m not saying anything else. Though I will expect details later,” Anya said with a smile. Tara just shook her head at the blonde’s antics.

“At least throw her the, ‘yes we’ve done it’ bone,” Faith said.

“Not you too.”

“What? It was days ago and I haven’t said anything to you about it,” Faith said.

“How do you even know anything happened? Just because I didn’t come home-”

“Buf heard you guys. She walked in the house and walked right back out after hearing some choice words,” Faith said with a smile.

“Loud sex! That’s great!” Anya said as she patted Tara on the back.

“So her name’s Willow? That’s different,” Lukas chimed in.

“Yeah,” Tara said, the mere mention of the redhead’s name making a small smile appear on her face.

“Well what else?” he asked, breathing a sigh of relief at the sight of Tara’s smile.

“She’s a computer programmer. And she’s really smart and funny and sweet. She grew up here in Sunnydale.”

“Very cool. So Tara’s found someone, Anya’s off the market, when are you going to settle down little sister?” he asked turning to Faith.

“You didn’t tell him?” Tara asked as she turned to Faith with a smirk.

“Tell me what?”

“She’s dating Willow’s best friend,” Tara said.

“No shit? Wow. Sticking with just one girl? That’s impressive Faith,” he said as she just rolled her eyes.

“Hey, yeah, when do I get to meet her?” Anya asked. “It’s been a few weeks now and I still need to put my stamp of approval on her.”

“Well you kind of already have,” Tara said, still grinning.

“I did? When?” Anya asked.

“Yeah when?” Faith piped up. “And why are you so chatty all of a sudden.”

“Turn about’s fair play. And Ahn, think back to the first time you saw Willow. And who she was with,” Tara hinted. It only took about three seconds for Anya’s eyes to light up with recognition.

“Oh my god! That’s her?” Anya said as she laughed, putting two and two together. Tara just nodded. “And she bought… oh my God!”

“What? What are you guys talking about?” Faith asked from her side of the booth. “What did she buy?”

“Oh if you don’t know yet, I’m not about to spoil the surprise,” Anya said. “But kudos on finding a girl with an adventurous streak.” Faith stared across the booth at the two blondes, now doubled over themselves in laughter.

******

“How’re you feeling?” Tara asked as she unlocked the door and stepped into the apartment with Faith right behind her.

“I’m ok,” she answered, kicking off her shoes and locking the door behind her. “I needed to get out though and just relax. Take my mind off the last few days.”

“That’s understandable.”

“Am I an awful person for spending the last few hours out with my friends laughing instead of sitting here, mourning?”

“No. You’re a good person Faith. And you’ll mourn her in your own way, when you’re ready,” Tara answered. “It’s not a cut and dry situation. You just need to take care of yourself right now.”

“Ok,” Faith said with a nod. “Well I’m going to go to bed.”

“Ok, night Faith.”

“Night.” Tara watched the brunette make her way to her bedroom and close the door behind her. She made her way to the bathroom and took her time getting ready for bed before heading to her own room. As she passed Faith’s room, she noticed a sliver of light coming under the door. She stopped just outside the door and quietly listened to make sure the other girl was ok.

“I know. I just wanted to say I appreciate you stopping by, just… you know… checking in.”

Talking to Buffy, Tara thought. Good. Smiling she made her way to her own bedroom and climbed into bed, suddenly exhausted from the days events.
Anya: I don't like the sound of this. They don't sound very ex-demon compatible.
Tara: Are you sure they're English? I thought English people were, um, gentler than uh... normal people.

DIBS?! Sweet! :banana :eatme

Wow, quite a lot going on here in this chapter! First off, I don't think the lack of W/T direct interaction diminished this in any way. You're weaving an intricate tale here with many intersecting plot lines, so it's only natural that every now and then there will chapters like this. I think it would have been detracting from the previous chapter's set-up if you HADN'T taken this chapter's focus in the direction that you did.

The picture you so aptly painted of the solemn rainy funeral day really added to the tone of the first part of the chapter without having to say a direct word about it otherwise--kudos, very nice technique. :bow

Faith's vunerability here was palpable. She clearly is unsure how to act/react to the death of her mother, and the simple scramble of trying to find the perfect shoes so vividly illustrated her helplessness.

My heart melted when Willow and Buffy showed (incognito) at the funeral. The interconnectedness of the bond these four women share was obvious here--a very sweet and selfless moment.

I loved the chapter (obviously!) :grin

Can't wait for more!

Yay for great update-y goodness... Yay for Buffy & Willow showing up to the funeral to make sure Faith is ok... Extra big yay for Faith's brother showing up... I liked the lunch after the funeral.... I really liked that Faith called Buffy after they got home... I kinda hope Buffy soon introduces Faith to the present she bought from Anya... Can't wait for Willow's & Tara's next date...

Awww... that was perfect. I'm glad that Willow and Buffy attended the funeral, quietly supporting Faith; and I also think it's better that they had to get back to work so just Anya, Tara, Lucas and Faith could talk. Very sneaky how you put the two stories, how Anya met Buffy and that Buffy overheard Willow & Tara, into the mix - I think they all needed that comic relief.
I'm really hoping for some Willow & Tara time next though :)

I like this story and I especially liked this chapter.

Of course it's great to read about Tara and Willow together, but by showing them with other concerns and obligations you make them realistic, three-dimensional characters. That only goes to strengthen the main storyline. As a reader I'm much more invested in characters that I can believe in.

The whole chapter rang true for me. No one was quite certain how to behave in that situation, but they all did their best to support their friends.

Jessica,

*sigh* Love this story and this post is very touching, very well done.

Of course it has to rain today, Tara thought as she stared out the living room window from her third floor apartment, watching the puddles collect outside on the street below. How else can we make this day any shittier? Maybe watch “Terms of Endearment” and reminisce about our dearly departed childhood pets.

The opener is so beautifully done: the rain, then Tara’s ironic humor that references sadness.

The two friends finished getting ready in silence, Faith only nodding when Tara asked if she was ready as they locked the door behind them. It was a quiet drive to the cemetery, the only sound in the car was the swish of the windshield wipers battling the pelting rain as they drove. As they arrived they saw the familiar faces of Faith’s aunt and uncle standing near their car with Anya, chatting politely under a canopy.

Simple, powerful and well done. I’m feeling the hurt. Good writing. :flower

It was touching to see Faith with family, with a brother who loves her.

Then their time with Anya and Tara was hilarious. :lmao :laugh :lmao

That restaurant scene was great: life goes on and the love between these guys is strong and warm.

Then the ending . . . Faith reaching out to someone who loves her.

Beautiful . . . :love

Hi Jessica...sorry I'm so late with the fb, busy week, blah, blah.

Anyway, I thought you did a really great job with the foreboding rain before the funeral and Faith's frantic search for the shoes. Anyone whose ever lost a loved one can attest to flipping out over minor things prior to the services. Especially when it's as awkward a situation as this is. I also thought that you're portrayal of 'supportive Tara' was spot on. An equally tough position to be in.

I like the closeness of the three friends and Faith's brother. I felt like her was kind of an ice breaker in making the situation bearable for Faith and a relief for Tara in sharing the responsibility of 'supportive friend.'

Willow and Buffy sneaking around the graveyard was adorable. I could picture them hiding behind the headstones and peering out to watch the services.

Great job! Looking forward to your next update!!

So I apologize but this is not an update. I actually won't have one for probably the next 2-3 weeks. But after mid-June the updates should get back on track and I'll have more time since I'm quitting my 2nd job. If you all don't mind hanging in there... I promise Willow and Tara filled goodness. Thanks all.
Anya: I don't like the sound of this. They don't sound very ex-demon compatible.
Tara: Are you sure they're English? I thought English people were, um, gentler than uh... normal people.

Jessica,

Gah! I feel like my favorite TV show is on hiatus, lol. Take care of yourself and please don't forget about this fic. You are doing a really great job writing it and I'd hate to see it get shelved.

See ya in a few weeks!!

Loved the update. I'm glad Buffy and Willow did attend the funeral. I'm sure it meant a lot to Faith to see their support; even if it was from a distance.
Take care of yourself over the next couple of weeks. I will be patiently waiting until the next update.

Hi Jessica I've only just started reading your story, I'm upto chapter 12, but I love it. It's rapidly becoming one of my favourite fics on the board.

I don't know where to begin there's so much to enjoy about this tale, the friendship between Tara, Faith and Anya. It seems so believable and is something I've wanted to be able to do in a story as Tara is usually shown as being friends with them both in other fics so to see the three of them hanging out together is brilliant.

The growing relationship between Willow and Tara is nicely done also with them taking it steadily and not wanting to rush into anything.

I also have to thank you for that excellent recipe involving rocky road ice cream, rice krispies, marshmallows and strawberry sauce. I plan to try it myself in the near future

The snoopy, sneakiness of Buffy as she tries to pair Willow off with Tara is very neat and shows some care on her part for her best friend.

Its interesting that whilst you've made Xander a character of sorts by having him referred to lots by Anya but never seen. Are the others ever going to meet Xander. Does Xander actually exist as a man or is really an Alexandria or Alexandretta?????

I do love the fact that you've reversed character traits in the story by making Buffy the horny one and Faith the one who wanted to wait til the time was right for them to have sex together.

Anyhoo, that's all for now but all i can say is that i'm so glad Finey/Shelby pointed me in the direction of this excellent story and thank you for writing it. :)

So I apologize this is not an update. I'm so terribly sorry. I had no idea it was going to be this kind of summer but I'm not abandoning this fic. I'm working as much as I can on it and have the first half of the next update written. As soon is I get it finished and beta-d I'll be posting immediately. Hopefully I haven't lost everyone's interest in this. Thanks for your patience.

Cyteach – Yay on your dibs!

First off, I don't think the lack of W/T direct interaction diminished this in any way.

Good. I think this was an important point of the story and it did need to be told to move the story forward. So I’m glad you weren’t disappointed by the absence of the pairing of our favorite couple.

My heart melted when Willow and Buffy showed (incognito) at the funeral. The interconnectedness of the bond these four women share was obvious here--a very sweet and selfless moment.

I liked the idea of them showing their support without really being seen. I thought it would be a good way to show not just how much Faith means to Buffy but also how important Willow and Buffy’s friendship and loyalties lie.

The picture you so aptly painted of the solemn rainy funeral day really added to the tone of the first part of the chapter without having to say a direct word about it otherwise--kudos, very nice technique. :bow

Wow, thank you. I hope you’ll enjoy the next chapter as much.

I wanted to show him being there for her. That she wasn’t completely abandoned by her family.

I liked the lunch after the funeral....

I was trying to make the switch from somber to comedy-ish. Still not sure I pulled it off as well as I’d have liked to but thanks for the feedback. Hope you like this next part.

I know this is Willow/Tara site but I think the friendships are an important part of what makes them who they are and makes them even better together.

Very sneaky how you put the two stories, how Anya met Buffy and that Buffy overheard Willow & Tara, into the mix - I think they all needed that comic relief.

Lol. Glad the comedy came through. And when Anya and Buffy “officially” meet, laughs will ensue.

That’s how I feel when I read a story and I’m glad you’re seeing it here. I sometimes have a hard time reading stories where the characters aren’t fleshed out so I guess that’s what I’m still trying to do, even though I’ve been writing this since December. Lol.

The whole chapter rang true for me. No one was quite certain how to behave in that situation, but they all did their best to support their friends.

It’s a hard situation but I think it’s in those hard situations that you can really see what a character is like. I’m glad you’re enjoying the story. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment.

*sigh* Love this story and this post is very touching, very well done.

Aww, yay! Thank you.

It was touching to see Faith with family, with a brother who loves her.

Yes, I’m not trying to make it out to be that her or Willow has no one I know there are people out there who have no one they can depend on in their family but I didn’t want to take this story there.

Then their time with Anya and Tara was hilarious. :lmao :)) :lmao

That restaurant scene was great: life goes on and the love between these guys is strong and warm.

Good, I’m glad it came across that way. Thanks for commenting and thanks again for reading it over for me first.

Exactly. It’s the little things that don’t matter that people seem to fixate on but I think it’s because those little things are something that is still in our control. I’ve been in Tara’s position, both as a friend and significant other and it’s hard. You don’t really know what to do but you just want to help so you do what comes naturally.

I like the closeness of the three friends and Faith's brother. I felt like her was kind of an ice breaker in making the situation bearable for Faith and a relief for Tara in sharing the responsibility of 'supportive friend.'

Update

Title - An Everyday Life
Author name – beautiful_love a.k.a. Jessica
Rating – R (for language/themes)
Disclaimer - I don't own these characters.
Feedback- absolutely
Summary- Totally AU - Tara meets Willow - the happy bumblings of falling in love - I'm not too good at this summary thing.
Notes: Wow, so incredibly, awfully, horribly sorry for the long wait. It was a crazy summer and honestly the only reason I've been able to write this is because the hurricane forced me to stay inside without power for a few days. So here's hoping I can get the next update up before I go another three months. I'm going to realistically shoot for another update sometime in the next week and a half. It's not the longest update so I apologize for that but it's chocked full of W/T cuteness. Thank you Ariel for proofing this for me. Hope everyone's having a fantastic September!

Chapter Twenty Three

“Wow, something smells amazing,” Faith said as she stepped into the kitchen, watching as Tara finished chopping up a tomato and dumping it into a salad she’d already prepared. “Forget going over to my aunt’s, I’ll just stay here.”

“Well I only made enough for two and you’re not one of them,” Tara said with a smile.

“Damn, just my luck,” Faith said, smiling back as she stole a runaway piece of tomato and popped it into her mouth. “So what’s all this for? Willow coming over?”

“Yep.”

“So should I pack an overnight bag for my aunt’s?” she teased.

“No and shut up,” Tara said, giving her roommate a stern look. Faith just laughed before moving towards the front door.

“Well, have a nice night,” she said as she opened the door and exited the apartment. Tara just continued her preparations, not even noticing the time ticking away until an abrupt knock brought her out of her routine. Looking up at the wall clock she noticed it was quarter to seven.

“Damn it!” She looked down, still in her work clothes, and sighed wishing she’d had more time to get ready for the evening. Another slightly impatient knock sounded on the door as she made her way to answer it.

“You’re early,” Tara said as she opened the door to a smiling redhead.

“Sorry. I know. I just… well I just wanted to see you,” Willow said, still smiling.

“I wanted to see you too,” Tara said as she stood aside and opened the door further.

“Good,” Willow said, placing a small kiss on the blonde’s lips as she entered the apartment.

“How was your day?” Tara asked as she closed the door and walked back into the kitchen.

“Good. How was yours?”

“Busy. Lots of work to make up for since I wasn’t there yesterday.”

“Well I imagine so. Lots of work for one of Southern California’s top architects,” Willow said with a teasing smile.

“Ha ha,” Tara said as she pulled the bowl of salad out of the fridge.

“What can I do to help?” Willow asked.

“Nothing. Why don’t you just have a seat. It’ll be just a few more minutes,” Tara said as she set the bowl on the table.

“Being waited on… I could get used to this,” Willow said with a smirk as she sat down at the dining table.

“Oh really,” Tara said, an edge of warning in her voice as she eyed the redhead.

“Maybe,” Willow answered, the same teasing smirk in her lips.

“You’re lucky you’re cute,” Tara said as she shook her head and made her way back into the kitchen.

*****

Tara closed her eyes and leaned further back into the warm body behind her, feeling the arms wrapped around her tighten as she did. She smiled at the sensation and the feeling of safety that accompanied it. Around her was complete silence except for the slight breeze blowing through the apartment from the open kitchen window as it ruffled the curtains framing the window. All the lights had been turned off except for one candle on the far side of the living room, illuminating the two figures on the floor against the couch. They’d been sitting there since Tara had nominated Willow to clean up the dinner mess and the redhead had readily complied without argument after the blonde had promised some much needed snuggles after the mess was cleaned.

“Can we just stay like this forever?” Tara asked quietly, keeping her eyes closed as she ran her fingertips over the soft freckled arms around her. She felt a soft chuckle vibrate against her back and a soft kiss placed on the top of her head. “I mean I know logistically it’s not possible. But it’s a nice thought, right?”

“It’s a very nice thought,” Willow agreed, smiling and squeezing the blonde once more. “I could try to come up with some way for it to work though.”

“My little genius,” Tara said with a smile, picturing the blushing redhead behind her.

“What time is Faith supposed to be home?” Willow asked.

“She didn’t say. She’s over at her aunt’s. They’re all meeting for dinner before Lukas goes back to Portland tomorrow.”

“That’s nice,” Willow said. “How’s she doing?”

“She’s ok. I think it’s going to be harder once her brother leaves though. He’s like her rock.”

“Well it sounds like you and Anya have been pretty supportive to her.”

Tara just shrugged, her thoughts shifting from the wonderful feeling of Willow’s arms to the last few days with her best friend.

“Hey, what’s going on up there?” Willow asked, nudging Tara’s temple with her nose.

“Nothing,” Tara said, turning to her left so her side rested against the redhead’s chest. “I just worry about her. She puts on this tough front and she holds so much inside. I just wish there was more I could do for her.”

“But you can only do so much Tare. I mean you can’t force her to talk.”

“I know. It’s just…” Tara trailed off as she tried to choose her next words carefully. “Sh-She’s been through a lot. And I know she doesn’t think this way but sometimes I feel like she maybe holds back from me just because we come from s-such different families. Like she holds back because I can’t really understand what she’s feeling or what she’s been through. She knows where I come from and how supportive and great my family is. And she has that in her aunt and uncle and in Lukas. But… I don’t know. I guess sometimes I just feel bad… I feel guilty.”

“You feel guilty because your family doesn’t… suck?” Willow asked, leaning her head down to try and catch Tara’s eye.

“I don’t know,” Tara said, thinking too late that maybe this wasn’t the best direction to take the conversation in with the redhead.

“Tara, why would you feel guilty about that? I mean, you should feel great that you have the kind of support that you do.”

“I do. Don’t think that I’m n-not grateful. I love my family and they’ve been nothing short of amazing my whole life. And I know that I’m lucky with that. It’s just… I guess I worry that maybe she doesn’t feel like I can understand where she’s coming from. A-And she’s right… I can’t. I just… I just feel like even though I may not be able to understand, I can still be supportive and listen and just be the friend I’m supposed to be to her, you know?” Tara said, finally looking up into Willow’s green eyes and seeing the understanding there.

“I know Tare. I get it. I’m just…,” Willow trailed off, breaking her gaze with the blonde, her eyes welling up with tears.

“Shh Will, it’s ok,” Tara said, turning to fully face the redhead and wrapping her arms around the slender girl. “It’s ok really. I’m not pushing you to talk. I know… you aren’t ready yet. A-And that’s ok.” Willow looked up into the understanding blue eyes in front of her and seeing the sincerity there, only broke her heart even more. “It’s ok sweetie,” Tara said as a fresh wave of tears threatened to roll down the redhead’s cheeks. “It’s ok.”

They sat there, arms wrapped around each other, foreheads pressed together, neither making a sound for the next twenty minutes. The gentle breeze continued to blow through the kitchen window making the shadows sway across the walls from the dancing flame across the room. Tara listened carefully as Willow’s breathing became even and slow and she was sure the redhead had fallen asleep. Trying to keep the slender girl in her arms as still as possible, she only shifted slightly to get more comfortable against the couch.

“It wasn’t always bad,” Willow whispered, surprising the blonde as she finally got into the position she wanted. “I mean, at least not with my whole family.”

Tara just sat there, gently stroking her fingers through the fine red strands on her shoulder, hoping with her silence that Willow would continue.

“I remember once when I was like six or seven, my uncle Brad came to visit us. He lived in Florida at the time and it had been years since he’d been back to see my mom and their other sister Susan. He’d actually only really seen me once before then, when I was first born. But he showed up and surprised them both. My parents weren’t really thrilled to see him but I fell in love with him immediately. He was so handsome and charming. He actually looks nothing like the rest of my family. He’s got this sandy blonde hair and beard. He kind of actually looks like a mountain man,” Willow giggled.

“He had brought me a doll but I wasn’t really into dolls as a kid. And he could tell right away. So he took me one afternoon to this huge toy store about an hour north of here. And he told me I could pick out whatever I wanted. That wasn’t something I was used to because my parents never let me pick out a toy when we went out. Even on special occasions. But he actually wanted me to get something I loved. And I bet we spent three hours, walking through every aisle in the store, over and over. And the whole time we were just laughing and telling silly stories and jokes. I kept apologizing for taking so long and telling him that we could leave without getting anything but he just kept shrugging it off with a smile. We kept going until I found what I wanted. I didn’t have a whole lot of friends then and I got lonely a lot, always wishing I had someone, not that I could talk to, but who would talk to me. And hidden in the back of one of the aisles was a Teddy Ruxpin. I’d seen commercials for him and I thought it would be so cool to have him. Even though it wouldn’t really be like a conversation, I could listen to him tell me stories and stuff. My eyes lit up when I saw him and my uncle Brad knew right away that that was the toy I wanted.”

Tara smiled into the redhead’s hair as she pictured a miniature Willow carrying her new toy around the house with her and into the back yard by his paw, pushing him on her swing set and sitting next to him as she played in her sandbox.

“It wasn’t even the toy that made me the happiest. I mean I loved it and I took it everywhere with me. But what I loved the most about it was that every time I looked at it, I saw my uncle Brad smiling at me and ruffling my hair. As time went on and things with my parents got worse, I kept T.R. around more often. I mean, even when I was a teenager. I’d hide him on the top shelf in my closet whenever any of my friends came over because, well you know. But I just liked knowing that he was there. That that comfort was there.”

“Is he still in your closet?” Tara asked after Willow had been silent for a few minutes.

Willow chuckled and nodded against the other girls shoulder. Tara just smiled and placed another small kiss in the red hair in front of her.

“I don’t need him as often but on those really rainy days when Buffy’s not around, he still comes in handy. I’ll sit him on my desk next to my computer and just stare at him from across the room on my bed. It’s… calming,” Willow explained, pausing for a moment before continuing. “You think I’m weird now right?”

“Not in the least. Well at least not about that,” Tara teased with a smirk. Willow looked up and Tara saw the true relief there in her eyes.

“I just wanted to give you some story about my past that didn’t involve Buffy,” Willow said with a shrug.

Tara continued to smile gently as she softly moved her hand out of the redhead’s locks and stroked the slender girl’s cheek once before leaning in to place a soft kiss on her furrowed forehead.

“Thank you. For giving that to me.” She paused, unsure if she wanted to push any further into the issue. “So… wh-what happened? To your uncle?”

“He passed away last year. Cancer,” Willow answered, her eyes only leaving Tara’s for a moment.

“Oh Will. I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have asked,” Tara said, instantly feeling her entire body sag.

“No, no it’s fine. I don’t mind talking about him. I actually kind of like talking about him. After that trip I got to know him even more. We spent a lot of time, mostly just talking on the phone or through email but my relationship with him was one of the things in my life that I will forever be grateful for. He was, in a lot of ways, my rock and I have so many great memories of him that no one, not even my parents can take away from me. He was an amazing person and while I still miss him more than I can possibly say, I’m glad he’s not suffering anymore.”

“That’s a really g-great way of looking at it Will.”

“It’s what he would have wanted. God, he would’ve loved you,” Willow said with a smile. “He always wanted me to meet a nice girl. He thought a blonde would suit me well.” Tara just smiled, opening her mouth to say something when the shrill blare of her cellphone singing the Thompson Twins distracted them both.

“Hold Me Now?” Willow asked with a smirk.

“Hey, I’m a product of the eighties. What can I say?” Tara answered, seeing that it was Faith and looking at Willow to see if it would be ok to answer it. Willow just nodded Willow quietly got up and made her way to the kitchen as she heard Tara say hello. She grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and moved to stare out the open window, noticing for the first time that her girlfriend actually had a pretty nice view of the quiet side of the city. The stars could be seen hanging above the closing lights of the shops and restaurants below and the passersby on the street could barely be heard at this height.

“Will?” she heard Tara call from the living room. She quickly turned and made her way back to the blonde, smiling when she saw Tara covering the mouthpiece on her cellphone. “Would you mind terribly if Faith dropped in? Her aunt and uncle are heading to bed and Lukas just left.”

“Why would you ask? It’s her apartment.”

“I know. I j-just… well I didn’t know if you w-wanted to stay. T-Tonight,” Tara said, her cheeks turning a little pink. Willow just smiled and the adorableness of the blonde but shook her head.

“Sorry, I can’t tonight. I have to be up at five tomorrow,” she said, glancing at the clock and noticing just how late it already was. “I should probably actually get going soon.”

“O-Oh. Ok,” Tara said, not doing very well at masking her disappointment. Willow watched as she relayed the message to her roommate and hung up the phone.

“I’m sorry,” Willow said as she stepped towards the blonde. “Work is just crazy right now.”

“No it’s fine,” Tara said. “I just… I l-like you here.”

“I like being here,” Willow said as she wrapped her arms around the blonde and softly kissed her once. “We should probably do it again.” Another kiss. “Very soon.” A third. “And often.” Tara giggled as each kiss grew a little longer and smiled at the redhead when she finally pulled away.

“That I can agree to,” Tara said. Willow nodded and hugged the blonde one more time before heading towards the door. “Text me when you get home. You know, so I know you got there safe.”

“Ok,” Willow said with a chuckle. She stopped with her hand on the door knob and looked back at the blonde, illuminated by the candle behind her, feeling for the first time in a long time that Tara was someone she could actually be completely open and honest with. The thought brought a small smile to her lips and a lightness in her heart.

So this is what this whole feeling in love thing feels like, she thought, her smiling brightening a little.

“Good night Tare.”

“Night,” the blonde said as she watched Willow close the door behind her, unable to keep her own small smile from her lips.

Tara: Are you sure they're English? I thought English people were, um, gentler than uh... normal people.

Woooohoooo! Two days, two updates from two of my favorite stories. Hopefully, this is contagious to the other authors I love!

I am glad Willow is finally opening-up to Tara. Although, they have been physically intimate, true initimacy between them won't happen until they can share their lives fully with one another. As Willow becomes more comfortable hopefully, so will Tara and she won't stutter as much when it is just her and Willow.

One request. Can you start putting an update date when you post. I didn't check this right away cuz I thought it was stil Shelby and Sonja going back and forth about "not being an update." Pleeeease.
Tara: " I got so lost."
Willow: "I found you. I will always find you."

She's baaaaaaaaack!!! WOO and HOO! At least one good thing came out of Hurricane Irene!

A lovely update and a great start to my day!! :grin I'll have you know that I completely ignored phone calls at work to read AND leave feedback on this chapter. :fallen

I simply love the way that you have written the girls in this fic. Tara with the support-o family and Willow quite the opposite. I'm curious to hear why (if you plan on addressing it) her parents are so completely and irrevocably broken. I always find it interesting when kids that have messed parents turn out well. It kinda makes you wonder about nature vs. nurture because obviously Willow did not get the nurture part from Sheila and Ira.

I loved how Tara gently coaxed Willow into talking and how Willow "tested the waters," by telling Tara the T.R. story first. Which, by the way, was adorable! I think it was a good stepping off point for Willow. Tara made her feel safe and comfortable, which will open her up even more in the future. I'm just glad that Tara knows something is going on and not thinking that Willow is keeping some big dark secret from her. Understanding and lovable Tara, who would have thought? lol

So, so very glad that you are back and plan on updating my favorite story!

This story is great, another to add to my ever growing list of fav's (which is actually pretty short).

Cute, adorable and quirky, these two the way you portray then is perfect. All the little near misses for things and then finally being together :wtkiss . Also both starting to open up (meaning Faith and Willow) Telling their girlfriends stuff that might scare some away or make others laugh at them, knowing their girl's would understand and not just run in the other direction.

I am wondering when Willow will tell Tara about her parents, and what they were doing to her. I hope that all works out.

Great job and I can't wait to read more!

Kinda short but very, very sweet. I really missed this story! It was nice to see Willow opening up, even if the story with her toy friend made me really sad. To feel that alone is always scary but as a kid it must be even scarier. I hope Willow & Tara find the time to see more of each other and that you'll find the time to update more often *nudge* (Not that I am demanding - I am grateful for every morsel!)

Happy to see an update; I really missed this story. I'm glad to see that Willow is starting to tell Tara more about her family. In order for their relationship to grow stronger she needs to be honest with her, Tara isn't going anywhere.

Feedback:

zampsa19752001 – Yes Willow gave a peek into her past which had to be done eventually. Glad you liked the update.

That’s very true and a big point of this story. She’ll open up more fully as time goes by and she becomes more and more comfortable with Tara. Thanks for the feedback and I hope you like the next part.

Tsk tsk. Of course I’ve been known to do the same thing. Lol.

It will definitely be addressed. I know it’s kind of taking me a while to get to that but I’m going to tell the whole story. Sorry for the delay. But it does put that whole nature vs. nurture theory out there and really make you wonder.

Again sorry for the long delay in updates but I’m definitely not shelving this at all. Thanks.

Thank you. It was really important to me to try to get them just right.

Also both starting to open up (meaning Faith and Willow) Telling their girlfriends stuff that might scare some away or make others laugh at them, knowing their girl's would understand and not just run in the other direction.

I think that’s something that’s really important in a relationship. You have to allow yourself to be vulnerable and see if the other person can really support you. It’s scary but there’s no trust there if you can’t do that.

I am wondering when Willow will tell Tara about her parents, and what they were doing to her. I hope that all works out.

It’s going to happen. I know it’s taking me a while to get to that part of the story. Sorry about that. I just pictured it progressing the way it has and in that progression, Willow didn’t immediately come out a say what the problem was. But it’ll work out one way or the other. Thanks for reading and I’m really glad you like the fic.

Willow’s story was just a kind of testing the waters/slash giving Tara some sort of window into her life. It was something that had to be done and that was just the story I thought of to do it. Sorry I made you sad though. And yes they will definitely be seeing each other a lot more. No demands necessary. Thanks!

Exactly. It’s not something that’s going to scare Tara off. It’s Willow’s parents with the problem, not her, and Tara will understand that. There will definitely be more revelations in the near future. Thanks for the feedback.
