Well, you're supposed to read the FAQ before you start posting to begin with and know that rule.
I’m very well versed with the rules, before I posted it I went to the FAQ’s to check as I have with a few of these drabbles. What is found is a link to a page unavailable.
I could ask you however that has repeatedly led to not working out.
You have previously told me to read the room, I cannot read invisible writing that is attached to the written. I have been told safe space multiple times however no clear definition of what that means. Due to the time period of this site I have taken it to mean this is a place where they can exist without bigotry and hate. In my explanation I feel I made it clear there is no hate in it.
However I have faced bigotry on this very thread and felt unable to speak up about it. I have specifically chosen prompts that do not target any particularity. Yet on a national holiday A prompt and drabble with anti-English sentiment is posted. That I do not consider a safe space. But with the definition provided, that is not part of the safe space. My favourite characters can talk shit about my country in a thread I’ve built and regularly posted on. But In my response I note the drabble 100% has a point and said my experience of the topic as communication and discussion is the only way to progress. I did speak to someone about it to see if I was just being overly sensitive but they were adamant calling anyone a ‘devastating fungus’ is offensive, especially in the context of a targeted prompt that wasn’t listed but specifically chosen by the writer. However they too are English and so not impartial. If there was a different mod I would have placed a complaint.
You are the only active mod. You have said you do not wish to be an authority yet here we are again. I have always been cooperative and taken off anything on the board that does not fit or causes upset when pointed out. I very much respect the board and want to keep its integrity and purpose intact. I have asked questions and looked for understanding so things do not repeat. I expect impartial treatment however in your own reply here you have stated I do not have that as I post regularly. It’s rather hurtful too as it feels the implication is my stuff is tolerated here because I post. My open endings are done not to push the boundaries but to stay in them. I have no issue what so ever with it being taken down. I’m glad of it. It was vile and not that it’s important but inspired by James Marsters recent interview. I felt very much in his shoes.
As for spirit, I can’t see a ghost. And this single drabble is not ‘That’s all’ in both your comments you have said ‘an entire series’ and ’50 ways to kill Tara’. So it’s much more than one drabble. I have been very honest on this thread and when I said what I was doing a little message of ‘Hey Dub, I see what you’re planning but just remember, happy, healthy and together.” As things continued, as you said you’ve let ‘a lot of these slide’, a message to say “Hey Dub, loving your creativity but please remember that this is a place for Tara and Willow to be happy and safe together. I think you’ve got a bit lost in what you’re experimenting with and forgot a little about where you are.” That way it would have not come this far for so many drabbles to being leeway.
Instead it has come to this. Have I gone the right way about things by talking about this stuff in the open and continuing it on? Probably not but it’s a consequence of me also giving leeway.
I tried with every Drabble to still be within the rules with open endings because from the very first one I had a drabble to end the experiment with. I write in canon and by the rules of this site canon ends 10 minutes before the end of ‘Seeing Red’ so my endings are always them happily back together. But I go further than Canon and there are a few AU-ish ones. For all of those this is the ending I always foresaw.
Rating - U or K (Suitable for all ages).
Prompt – Nostalgia
Author’s Note – Through all the trials, tribulations and pain there is one thing that will always win out and shines through every drabble in the experiment when writing.
“Just a few more steps. Wait. Okay stop.” Willow removed her hands from Tara’s eyes.
A bench sat in front of them. There were visible cracks and the wood weathered but it was in lovingly restored condition thanks to Xander. Willow had organised the search of the crater to find this exact bench from a time they thought all was lost.
Tara attentively brushed her hand over the engraving. “It’s perfect.” Taking Willow’s hand they sat on the bench touching their foreheads together. Decades from when they last sat.
“In memory of all the trials faced so we could love.”
But invisible writing attached to the writing cannot be read.
